I recently adopted dasher and am processing the backlog of bug reports.
I know it's been a while since you filed this report and nobody
apparently reacted, but I would appreciate if you could confirm whether
it is still valid:
Package: dasher
Version: 4.11+git20130508.adc653-1
Severity: normal
After turning on direct mode, dasher frequently resets its window.
Apparently it periodically tries to read the text before the cursor in the
subordinate window, fails to do so, and declares it to be empty.
