Thanks for getting back to me again Carsten. Well, all I know is that no extra
steps with the terminal are needed with the similar language package of
libreoffice-l10n-en-gb. It just works. I'm just letting you know that.

Your local language ist set to en_CA, not en_GB. Thunderbird is using
