So a simple test like this (similar as what can be seen used in the
code) reveals the problem with all /sys sub-mounts dissapearing:
mount | grep /sys
mkdir /tmp/test
mount --rbind

Thanks for mmdebstrap, it's super convenient and fast.
Unfortunately I've experienced it breaks my system so much
that I have to powercycle it to get back to a usable state.
I've simply used it like this: sudo mmdebstrap sid
