I got the same problem. Both ufraw and gimp-ufraw segault.
Here is the gdb output. With ufraw, the segfault happens when trying to
open a .nef file. The file select window opens without any problem.

firebird.msg is missing when no server is installed on the machine. I've
got a software compiled to use libgds.so and when an error occurs, I get
