Bug#489249: tuxpaint: Incorrect KDE menu entry showing up in Lost and Found [nb]
Petter, Is the problem still present in 1:0.9.20? It has an all-new desktop file, so it should be solved, but since you reported the problem in a norwegian locale which I do not use, I thought I had better ask first before closing this one. Bug#489467: totem-mozilla: cannot seek during video playback

There are several upstream bugs about this. 361793 is about feedback, and using the slider to show this. 524771 is about seeking in streaming videos (seems to be GStreamer specific), the bug mentions Flash videos specifically, but from a duplicate bug it seems to also be about streaming in general. 434027 is also about seeking problems in streaming videos. It seems to be the best match for what you describe above. It's set as NEEDINFO so you should probably add your examples in a comment. -- Cheers, Sven Arvidsson http://www.whiz.se PGP Key ID 760BDD22 signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

The main issue here is interaction with the bootloader (syslinux). Is there any way to edit the parameters on the ISO image so that it forces the loader AND the kernel to ignore the VGA hardware and work via the serial port? You should be able to change the syslinux config so that it 1) does not wait for enter, but just boots using a preset set of options 2) uses the serial console A CD-based install is possible but probably not the most suited for that as it requires remastering of the CD image. I'd try either netboot or boot from USB stick (using hw-media image). See the installation guide for details. Cheers, FJP -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#490108: linux-2.6: please enable CONFIG_X86_P4_CLOCKMOD
Package: linux-2.6 Version: 2.6.25-6 Severity: wishlist Hi, desktop x86 cpus before Core 2 Duo don't have (enhanced) speedstep, so they can't use acpi-cpufreq nor speedstep-centrino to do frequency scaling. However, they can use p4-clockmod to do frequency throttling, which is not as good as frequency scaling but still can be useful. http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/kernel/cpufreq/hardware.html has a list of which hardware is supported for which module. So it'd be nice if CONFIG_X86_P4_CLOCKMOD (and CONFIG_P4_CLOCKMOD on i386 I guess) could be enabled. Bug#490111: fai-client: fai-do-scripts confused by new file output: PERL
Package: fai-client Version: 3.2.8 Severity: grave Tags: patch Justification: renders package unusable Hello, Almost a repeat of bug report 416616 where the output from file has changed. This patch adds an elif block that uses ps to check for a matching process in the process table. Note that in cases where the pidfile is not available and /bin/pidof is used, such an ownership check is *not* performed. * The /bin/pidof call needs to || status=$? in order to be set -e safe. This is a patch that Ubuntu is carrying and should be applied to Debian. * Also, per [1], pidofproc() should probably return 3 if the program is not running. At least it does at one point in the function, but not in the last return. Ubuntu has also been carrying this patch for some time. status_of_proc(): * So this patch reverts my last one for Bug #483285 (sorry!). That fix was to solve the problem that pidofproc() required privileges to do the kill -0. At the urging of Matt Zimmerman and Steve Lanagasek, I fixed the problem in pidofproc() instead of hacking around it in status_of_proc(). [1] http://refspecs.linux-foundation.org/LSB_3.1.0/LSB-Core-generic/LSB-Core-generic/iniscrptact.html Is this the right patch? It appears to be relative to 3.2-12 (or earlier), not 3.2-13. Chris

Bug#403335: gdebi: new upstream version, bugfix
Hi Rafael, I've had a conversation with Amaya Rodrigo Sastre ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) today and she said she will sponsor me if I prepare new upstream version. If you have another ideas, please share them before I prepare the package. I think gdebi-kde is broken by changes in python-kde3, may be we have to wait for a port to KDE4 by upstream to can use gdebi-kde in Debian. How gdebi-kde is broken? And how will KDE4 port will help? (Lenny will use KDE 3.5) But I could build a new version of gdebi, and i think i can fix bug 403335 doing a small modification in gdebi code: Original code is: if res.upper().startswith(_(Y)): debi.install() I can add: if res.upper().startswith(_(Y)): debi.install() if res.upper().startswith(_(S)): debi.install() I think it is brain-dead idea. We can't add conditions for each language! And also, it is from the changelog: gdebi (0.2ubuntu9) feisty; urgency=low [ Michael Vogt ] * fixed i18n in yes/no question I don't know how he did it but I guess this bug can be closed with the upload. Bug#490114: live-helper: Please detect buggy LH_BOOTSTRAP_{IN,EX}CLUDE variables
Package: live-helper Version: 1.0~a47-1 Severity: wishlist Tags: patch Hi, currently, if one sets one of the LH_BOOTSTRAP_{IN,EX}CLUDE variables to something space-separated, that leads to: | $ sudo lh_build | P: Begin caching bootstrap stage... | P: Begin bootstrapping system... | E: No such script: lenny With the attached patch: | $ sudo lh_build | P: Begin caching bootstrap stage... | P: Begin bootstrapping system... | E: LH_BOOTSTRAP_EXCLUDE is comma-separed, not space-separated One might also want to echo the contents of the offending variable at that moment. Bug#490119: vegastrike: starts with Error: no rooms found
Package: vegastrike Version: 0.5~svn12126-2 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable NOTE: The following description is copied from https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=30533 My experience is exactly the same tho the output is different. The error messages are the same but of course I included the original output my install gave me. (esp since the mandriva-one is about 0.4.3) When Vegastrike starts, it opens with a simple graphic of a ship and a message error: no rooms found. The usual graphics for the base interiors are missing; there's just a single screen providing access to Ships, Upgrades, Cargo, etc. Dynamic aspects like Missions and News are blank. The ship can be launched and can navigate to other locations, but they are also missing the usual interior graphics. No other ships are generated for ship-to-ship interaction. You're bascially alone in the universe. Starting from the command line, I get the following: SyntaxError: invalid syntax Compiling python module modules/dj.py File /home/myusername/.vegastrike-0.4.x/modules/dj.py, line 1 import dj_lib ^ This is repeated a lot of times. Bug#339770: darcs-server: Package name conflicts
*** Please type your report below this line *** As mentioned earlier, the name darcs-server conflicts with the software at http://www.equational.org/darcs-server/ and seems to be entirely a Debian invention: 1. Darcs internally calls this darcs.cgi, so perhaps darcs-cgi would be a better package name. 2. Further, darcs.net's related software page (http://wiki.darcs.net/DarcsWiki/RelatedSoftware) calls the equational.org package darcs-server, so people coming from that page to their Debian systems, like yours truly, are likely to be confused. Bug#490123: dnsmasq: appears to be vulnerable to cache poisoning attack CVE-2008-1447
Package: dnsmasq Version: 2.42-4 Severity: grave Tags: security Justification: user security hole dnsmasq appears to be vulnerable to CVE-2008-1447, the DNS cache poisoning exploit. From my reading of the source code and observation with tcpdump, dnsmasq doesn't do any source port randomisation. dnsmasq binds a UDP socket for each of the forwarding name servers when they are added (on startup, or configuration change), then uses those sockets forever. The source port doesn't change between queries. tcpdump confirms this. thanks Hamish -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages dnsmasq depends on: ii adduser 3.108 add and remove users and groups ii dnsmasq-base 2.42-4 A small caching DNS proxy and DHCP ii netbase 4.32 Basic TCP/IP networking system dnsmasq recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#443564: Me too
I just wanted to stick my hand up for a 'me too' on this bug. The bug occurred when I upgraded apt and friends to testing (apt 0.7.14+b1). dpkg was an old testing version, I'm afraid I don't have the version number. apt and all the other related packages were stable (apt 0.6.46.4-0.1) I haven't tried to resolve/fix the bug yet and have no urgent need to get apt back up. So I'm happy to provide any further information or tests. -- Backtrace -- Reading package lists... 97% Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0xb7e7f5cb in pkgCacheGenerator::NewFileDesc () from /usr/lib/libapt-pkg-libc6.7-6.so.4.6 (gdb) bt #0 0xb7e7f5cb in pkgCacheGenerator::NewFileDesc () from /usr/lib/libapt-pkg-libc6.7-6.so.4.6 #1 0xb7e80d97 in pkgCacheGenerator::MergeList () from /usr/lib/libapt-pkg-libc6.7-6.so.4.6 #2 0xb7eb6f9d in debPackagesIndex::Merge () from /usr/lib/libapt-pkg-libc6.7-6.so.4.6 #3 0xb7e801a3 in pkgCacheGenerator::SelectFile () from /usr/lib/libapt-pkg-libc6.7-6.so.4.6 #4 0xb7e83086 in pkgMakeStatusCache () from /usr/lib/libapt-pkg-libc6.7-6.so.4.6 #5 0xb7e79879 in pkgCacheFile::BuildCaches () from /usr/lib/libapt-pkg-libc6.7-6.so.4.6 #6 0xb7e799a4 in pkgCacheFile::Open () from /usr/lib/libapt-pkg-libc6.7-6.so.4.6 #7 0x080570f8 in ?? Bug#476710: Announce of the upcoming NMU for the netselect package
Dear maintainer of netselect and Debian translators, Some days ago, I sent a notice to the maintainer of the netselect Debian package, mentioning the status of at least one old po-debconf translation update in the BTS. I announced the intent to build and possibly upload a non-maintainer upload for this package in order to fix this long-time pending localization bug as well as all other pending translations. The package maintainer agreed for the NMU or did not respond in two weeks, so I will proceed with the NMU. The full planned schedule is available at the end of this mail. The package is currently translated to: bg cs de es eu fi fr gl it ja nb nl pt pt_BR ru sv vi Among these, the following translations are incomplete: pt_BR sv If you did any of the, currently incomplete, translations you will get ANOTHER mail with the translation to update. Other translators also have the opportunity to create new translations for this package. Once completed, please send them as a bug report against the netselect package so I can incorporate them in the build. The deadline for receiving updates and new translations is Saturday, July 19, 2008. If you are not in time you can always send your translation to the BTS. The POT file is attached to this mail. If the maintainer objects to this process I will immediately abort my NMU and send him/her all updates I receive. Otherwise the following will happen (or already has): Wednesday, July 09, 2008 : send the first intent to NMU notice to the package maintainer. Thursday, July 10, 2008 : send this notice Thursday, July 17, 2008 : (midnight) deadline for receiving translation updates Friday, July 18, 2008 : build the package and upload it to DELAYED/2-day send the NMU patch to the BTS Sunday, July 20, 2008 : NMU uploaded to incoming Thanks for your efforts and time. -- -- # SOME DESCRIPTIVE TITLE. # Copyright (C) YEAR THE PACKAGE'S COPYRIGHT HOLDER # This file is distributed under the same license as the PACKAGE package. # FIRST AUTHOR [EMAIL PROTECTED], YEAR. # #, fuzzy msgid msgstr Project-Id-Version: PACKAGE VERSION\n Report-Msgid-Bugs-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] POT-Creation-Date: 2006-12-06 16:46+0100\n PO-Revision-Date: YEAR-MO-DA HO:MI+ZONE\n Last-Translator: FULL NAME [EMAIL PROTECTED]\n Language-Team: LANGUAGE [EMAIL PROTECTED]\n MIME-Version: 1.0\n Content-Type: text/plain; charset=CHARSET\n Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit\n #. Bug#490129: debian-edu-install: [INTL:fr] French debconf templates translation update
Package: debian-edu-install Version: N/A Severity: wishlist Tags: patch l10n Please find attached the french debconf templates update, proofread by the debian-l10n-french mailing list contributors. If you do not already use it, you might consider using the podebconf-report-po utility, which helps warning translators about changes when you modify some debconf templates in your packages. The usual policy when using it is sending a warning to translators when you plan to upload a version of your package with debconf templates changes (even typo corrections). Then leave about one week for them to update their files (several translation teams have a QA process which requires time). podebconf-report-po will take care of sending the translators the needed material as well as getting the translators adresses from the PO files. All you have to do is just using the utility..:-) Example use (from your package build tree): $ podebconf-report-po This will go through debian/po/*.po files, find those needing an update, extract the translators data from these files and prepare a mail to send to these translators (you can also use the --languageteam switch to also mail the mail addresses listed in Language-Team field). Bug#487475: xsane: Control/menu selection problem with epson backends via net driver [patch]
On Sun, 22 Jun 2008, Julien BLACHE wrote: [ . . . ] Anything in the option descriptor can change after the backend tells the frontend to reload the options, and I think that's what you're seeing with gdb when the net backend refreshes the option descriptors. But the memory allocated by sanei_wire for the option descriptors and their content should not get overwritten unless there's been a call to sane_get_option_descriptor(). The code flow looks roughly like this: frontend calls sane_get_option_descriptor() for first option net backend loads option descriptors (fetch_options()) frontend calls sane_get_option_descriptor() a few more times to load all options frontend sets an option value by calling sane_control_option() net backend forwards to underlying backend underlying backend replies with info containing SANE_INFO_RELOAD_OPTIONS net backends marks local copy as invalid, forwards to frontend frontend calls sane_get_option_descriptor() for first option net backend loads option descriptors (fetch_options()) frontend calls sane_get_option_descriptor() a few more times to reload all the options I've been trying to understand the net backend code this evening. I see where fetch_options() iterates over the option list and makes a local copy in net.c: memcpy (s-local_opt.desc[option_number], s-opt.desc[option_number], sizeof (SANE_Option_Descriptor)); However, this memcpy does not duplicate the .constraint member of the associated SANE_Option_Descriptor. It copies the pointer stored in the opt.desc structure but not the underlying data. The sanei_w_* code still confuses me a bit, but doesn't fetch_options() clear s-opt right near the top of the function? I'm looking at sanei_w_set_dir (s-hw-wire, WIRE_FREE); s-hw-wire.status = 0; sanei_w_option_descriptor_array (s-hw-wire, s-opt); Drilling into this last function we get to sanei_w_array() where the memory associated with s-opt[] gets free()'d. Now the pointer that was stored in menu_item[0].label = s-local_opt.desc[44].string_list[0] = s-opt.desc[44].string_list[0] but that memory just been deallocated. The menu will still work correctly if that memory is left untouched, or if s-opt happens to be restored exactly as it was when the menu was initially constructed. (And if it's the latter, why bother making the local copy in the first place?) What is the intent of duplicating s-opt into s-local_opt? If it is to provide a stable local version of the scanner descriptors then shouldn't the .constraint union (*string_list, *word_list, or *range) be duplicated as well? -- Brad -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
