I've made some more progress in understanding this behaviour, and have now
figured out a workaround. I find the documentation at
http://wiki.debian.org/Xen very misleading in several respects.

Policy 4.13 pretty strongly suggests avoiding code copies. This most

I cannot run any 2.6.xI am on a 2.4.27...what I have found is the
upgrade/move to a 2.6 effectively trashes the system and I have to do a
re-install.
I am hoping to get an out of warrantee server hence a spare raid controller
this week, in which case I can build a trash box to test.
