Bug#638715: texlive-base: [debconf_rewrite] Debconf templates and debian/control review
Quoting Frank Küster (fr...@debian.org): Christian, the mailing list archive (at least that on Gnome) is missing your initial mail and the thread following it, and I have not kept it locally. Can you point me to the guy who deserves the credits for the english review? Justin B Rye j...@edlug.org.uk is the person doing most of the work on debian-l10n-english. The review is considered to be collective work of the dle mailing list, but you can definitely credit Justin specifically... signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#640536: texlive-base: [INTL:de] Initial German debconf translation
Quoting Frank Küster (fr...@debian.org): One of the points relates to a change that has been made in the english template review process. There seems to be a rule that makes sense in English, but I think its result is horrible in German. Can you comment on this? MOst of Debconf interface (and specifically the most common one, dialog) show note synopsis as a title. That explains why a fulle sentence with a verb is mostly viewed as inappropriate. That may differ in German, but I think that most German translators have stick to that rule (which is described in the DevRef). Chris Leick c.le...@vollbio.de wrote: #. Type: error #. Description #: ../templates:2001 msgid Unmanageable system paper size (${libpaperPaper}) msgstr Nicht verwaltbare Systempapiergröße (${libpaperPaper}) This is correct, but I find it horrible to read in German. Is there any rule no to use a short sentence like systemweite Papiergröße kann nicht eingestellt werden? At least we should use systemweite Papiergröße as in later translations. The change to the templates was: -_Description: TeX configuration cannot handle the system paper size ${libpaperPaper} +_Description: Unmanageable system paper size (${libpaperPaper}) In English, the change results in a shorter phrase which is easy to understand - and I hope it sounds good for native speakers. In German, the original translates quite well to what I suggested above, although I didn't remember the original wording. Whereas the translation of the changed english phrase sounds ugly and quirky to me. I would expect such a wording in an administrative decision, written by a clerk that doesn't care about language at all. Hard for me to comment, here..:-) My very limited knowledge of German shows me a translation that parallel to what we did in French. At least in French, I think this is both understandable and quite normal wording but it may differ in German. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Nicolas, are you willing to provide an update for pootle? I see there are some RC bugs that need fixing. In case you don't/can't, what about removing it from unstable completely? ( also CCed Christian, who showed interest for pootle in recent past ) Interest, but not enough skills, I'm afraid. I made some packaging changes to pootle during spring 2011. They're staging in SVN. The most difficult problem is indeed handling the upgrade from pootle 1 installs. We very briefly discussed about this with Nicolas at DC11...and indeed, we regret that we don't have a pootle2 package to escape this problem. signature.asc Description: Digital signature

On 2011-09-17 07:25, Fernando C. Estrada wrote: Hi Roman, I'm interested to see ShellEd in Debian, is there any progress on packaging?, need some help? Thanks in advance for your efforts to package ShellEd for Debian ;-) Regards, P.S. If you are no longer interested I could take care of it. Hi, To my knowledge no one has been working on this. If you want to work on it, feel free to take it. I will gladly assist you with our limited tool support (eclipse-helper from javahelper). Also please use eclipse 3.7 (in experimental) as basis for the work, as eclipse in sid (3.5.2) is uninstallable. Looking at [Fedora]'s packaging, it seems that ShellEd depends on eclipse-dltk and eclipse-manpage. Neither are (to my knowledge) in Debian. ~Niels [Fedora] http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/gitweb/?p=eclipse-shelled.git;a=blob;f=eclipse-shelled.spec;h=dd3a848f77d5c503415638acfd0f5968e13703b2;hb=57c62e3002dbbdb9135ef1a3341888ac91a08a22 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Here is the description from RSA's website: RC4 is a stream cipher designed by Rivest for RSA Data Security (now RSA Security). It is a variable key-size stream cipher with byte-oriented operations. The algorithm is based on the use of a random permutation. Analysis shows that the period of the cipher is overwhelmingly likely to be greater than 10100. Eight to sixteen machine operations are required per output byte, and the cipher can be expected to run very quickly in software. Independent analysts have scrutinized the algorithm and it is considered secure. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#616650: Info received (2011h is available)
Hi, I have checked on difference of 2011h from 2010b: * API changes are minimal and seems to be backward compatible * primarily it is an update of timezones information I saw no harm of updating unstable with it, so I did a sloppy uupdate, cloned original bugreport to leave 3k compatibility on TODO list, tested the package (lintian warnings remained), and uploaded to 10-days delayed. (if you don't mind, I could re-upload to 0-delay ;) ) If rejected/objected, NMU and its backports for all recent Debian and Ubuntu releases could be found at neuro.debian.net Indeed, I was waiting for Gediminas to confirm that there is no problem with updating the packages in pkg-zope SVN repository (which includes pytz) to ZTK 1.1.2 before uploading these packages... Gediminas: have you had time to look at that? While the upload of pytz seems harmless, I would prefer to follow ZTK 1.1.2 versions (unless Gediminas disagrees of course), which suggests pytz 2011g (even if it's just a small change). Moreover, after looking quickly at your package, it includes egg-info into the diff.gz... (maybe I'm just being too fuzzy ;)) Cheers, -- Arnaud Fontaine pgpFDh1qqCR37.pgp Description: PGP signature

Bug#641896: linux 3.1 changes for laptop-mode-tools
Package: laptop-mode-tools Version: 1.58-3 Severity: wishlist In kernel 3.1, The driver now accepts two further module parameters: power_save allows the power-saving features that are disabled by default to be enabled or disabled, and the power_level parameter allows the power-saving level to be set to a value between 1 and 5 We always have had these settings handled in lmt. A couple kernel revisions before, it was disabled in the kernel because of the buggy implementation. Upstream Author : Nokia Corporation and/or its subsidiary(-ies) * URL : ftp://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/ftp.trolltech.com/pub/qt/solutions/lgpl/*.t ar. gz * License : GPL-3 Is there any reason why you haven't instead chosen the BSD licensed newer editions from qt.gitorious.org? Or at least listed the alternative lgplv2.1 license that it is also offered under? Unfortunately some subpackages which are necessary in Sankore are no more found in qt.gitorious.org, for example: qtsingleapplication. Maybe I did not search at the good place in qt.gitorious.org? http://qt.gitorious.org/qt-solutions/qt-solutions/trees/master If there is some mean to reduce the size of qt-solutions2009-gpl, it would be a useful build-dependency for the future package sankore. If not, what would you suggest? My first suggestion for making qt-solutions actually usable as a package would be to not provide it as GPLv3 only. My next suggestion would be to convert the bits that aren't in Qt proper into proper libraries and use them and package them as such. The things that might be reasonable as actual libraries would be - qtsoap (even though it is a quite bad soap implementation) - qtsingleapplication - qtcolor* - qtpiemenu - qtmmlwidget - qtiocompressor - qtservice - qtlockedfile But it requires work to get these to a standard where they are worth using as libraries. The following is in Qt: - qtstatemachine - qtanimationframework /Sune -- Do you know how may I log from a MIDI periferic? Bug#641769: [apt] fetches InRelease file, problematic on several mirrors (aka Packages Hash Sum mismatch)
On Fri, Sep 16, 2011 at 19:44, Filipus Klutiero chea...@gmail.com wrote: If you decrease the time between the dinstall (or equivalent) runs to lets say an hour as e.g. ubuntu does you get far more likely in situations in which Release and Release.gpg doesn't belong together. Thats specifically one of the reasons ftpmasters implemented it in 2009. So, you are currently experience mirror-problems because we want to protect you from mirror problems in the future. Crazy, heh? ;) Could you clarify what incoherence scenario InRelease avoids? It is true that Release and Release.gpg need to be either versioned or updated simultaneously, but this problem applies to all files used to fetch indices, which are all updated during stage 1 (except for InRelease). Therefore the duration of incoherence should be insignificant in comparison to the problem with InRelease. Be careful with your guesses. If it would be that insignificant, why was it implemented by ftpmasters? Also you are just looking at mirror sync, the world consists of more than just mirror syncs! We have the creation of these files for example which is far from being atomic at the moment. Also, if you want to follow this route, from a security point is an InRelease file better as a man-in-the-middle could drop the request for Release.gpg - the archive has no signature then and APT will cry for an extra-yes, but many users are pretty fast in pressing yes -- especially as they are used to having these questions as not every thirdparty archive provides a good signature… But for a real attack he would properly send modified Release and co and doesn't respond to Release.gpg. Try that with InRelease - sure, as we need to support the old way for a while these kind of attacks can still be executed and dropping all requests for files related to Release is a possibility, too, but one step at the time. So with disabling InRelease we would just hide the underlying problem, this can't be a solution, especially not that early in the releasecycle. After all, we are talking about unstable-only here. I'm not sure what problem we would be hiding here. Mirrors using ftpsync versions that don't handle InRelease correctly is only a problem insofar as APT uses InRelease with problematic ftpsync versions... That's a pretty short view. Forget InRelease for a moment: Are you really willing to use a mirror there the admins didn't care? I am not. If they are that sloppy to use old update-scripts, can i be sure that they are not going to silently stop running their old scripts all together? You are later talking about versioning and co, how should it be possible to use that if we are unable to use a single file after three years - or if we want to be a bit more fair after eight months? Not every damn feature should need six years before it can be used, at least the last time i checked the file isn't called MultiRelease… As I said, this problem does not just affect unstable, it already affects testing and would probably affect stable, and eventually all releases if nothing is done. stable doesn't have an InRelease file and apt/stable doesn't support it, so there is no possibility for this to effect stable. Given that InRelease is used by others already without any problems it would be a shame to revert them just because a single archive and (parts of) its mirror network has problems with them - even if this single archive is debian itself. Uh, Debian is an actual GNU/Linux distribution, not just a draft. If Uh, InRelease is an actual file, not just an inode waster. I don't understand what you want to tell me with that line as i am not a draft as well as various archives and complete debian-derivatives are not a draft. And you seem to completely ignore that i said that e.g. for me and the mirrors I use InRelease was never a problem, and i am reasonable sure that i was the first users of it back in January after implementing it, so this problem effects only parts of the mirror network - and as i have no knowledge about mirrors i leave it up to the mirror team to decide how big this part is and what should be done about that - and as long as this team doesn't say David, you bloody idiot, revert it or we will tell mirror-admins where you live to take care of you. i assume i can be of no help. (but i am sure the mirror-team would have worded it differently ;) ) If offering a patch is not enough, feel free to leave code to ease having InRelease support, perhaps a compile-time option. Or even to make the APT source support InRelease by default and to only disable it in Debian. All I'm saying is that something needs to be done for Debian proper. Wait, where is this mysterious patch you are talking about? I already said that i would try my best to merge a patch, but my time is limited and i prefer to do in my free-time stuff i want to do and not what others think i have to, so i am not going to write that patch myself or for that matter any

Bug#526402: bash: syntax highlighting would be pretty and useful
The developers of bash never showed a lot of interest for the feature you request (http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-bash/2009-08/msg00019.html). You might try fizsh instead, which provides a zsh implementation of syntax-highlighting. Fizsh is available in Debian unstable ( http://packages.debian.org/sid/shells/fizsh) The package fizsh uses zsh under the hood. Therefore it generally accepts bash-compatible syntax. Moreover, fizsh gives yoy all the benefits of zsh. The latter is IMO a much more powerful shell than bash. Best wishes, Guido

Bug#641867: screen version bump (4.1.0 20101110git066b098)
Hi Brian, Brian Kroth wrote: Package: screen Version: 4.1.0-20101110git066b098 Severity: wishlist The screen developers have been working on new features for screen for a while, though an official release keeps getting put off. Yeah. When I saw your mail, I first thought Yay! 4.1.0 is out! -- and then noticed that you're talking about snapshots... ;-) I noticed the other day that Fedora 15 is shipping with a git snapshotted version of screen, which seems to work fairly well. Included in it are increased MAXWIN sizes, the ability to group windows and search for them in the window list by name, as well as many other very helpful features. Well, if you take a newer snapshot, some more bugs reported in Debian (like the crash when resizing to one row height with having a caption) would be fixed, too, see http://bugs.debian.org/532240)... But the stability is of course also an argument, at least on the long run. Attached (shortly) is a first crack attempt at packaging that version for Debian. I went through the slew of Debian patches and kept/fixed the ones that worked and still looked to be needed, and weeded out the ones that have been applied upstream. One small remark after a first look: If you use the upcoming version number als base, you should use a tilde (~) directly after it otherwise finally uploading the released 4.1.0 would be quite complicated: 4.1.0~20101110git066b098 Additionally the dash which was included at that point before would have marked 20101110git066b098 as Debian revision which should just indicate packaging changes. And at least the part git066b098 wouldn't be packaging changes. And dates for revisions are very uncommon. So the right version number for the package would be 4.1.0~20101110git066b098-1 Please consider including support for it. Since the current maintainer of screen in Debian is quite busy in real life at the moment, I'm thinking about doing an Non-Maintainer Upload (NMU) for screen. Bug#641902: network-manager: please provide a *full* CLI (with a proper name)
Package: network-manager Version: 0.9.0-2 Severity: wishlist Hi there! First, I do not understand why the CLI binary is called nmcli (without the dash) when nm-online and nm-tool have the nm- prefix. This is counterintuitive, for the least. Second, AFAIK nmcli can not act as a full CLI replacement for nm-applet (or any other GUI equivalent) given that there is no way to *create* a connection, which is very bad: I do not have any panel installed, which means that I can not use network-manager. Please note that this is not #629913 and that I *want* to use network-manager (I am tired of manual configurations ;-) ), but not installing (IMHO unnecessary) GUIs. I guess the hidden symbols you are talking about are just non-breaking spaces (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-breaking_space). If so, this is by no means critical or a security problem. And as you said yourself, other applications are affected as well. IMO this is not Geany's fault nor is it Geany's job to filter these out or anything. Rather bug your browser for not stripping non-breaking spaces when copying text. Anyway, one could write a plugin for Geany to automatically replace non-breaking spaces into normal spaces when pasting text. Still, not a bug in Geany. Package: procps Version: 1:3.2.8-9 Severity: normal I found a bug in reporting of CPU usage for a long running calculation on a quad-core 64 bit machine. While the calculation runs I monitor the process by running the following command every 30 seconds: ps -C elmfract -o args=,%cpu=,time=,rss=,vsz=,pid= Below is a fragment of the logfile that shows where it goes wrong: /home/eric/bin/elmfract F14 398 24-20:29:51 7733232 7989604 1771 /home/eric/bin/elmfract F14 398 24-20:31:51 7733232 7989604 1771 /home/eric/bin/elmfract F14 1712725 106751-23:47:16 7733232 7989604 1771 /home/eric/bin/elmfract F14 1719007 107149-12:01:11 7733232 7989604 1771 The first two lines show a CPU usage of 398%, i.e. practically 4 cores busy. The second two lines show a CPU usage of 1712725%, suggesting some 17127 busy cores. As it turns out, my machine does not have that many cores :-). Also the reporting of 106751 cpu days used for the calculation seems exagerated. The running process is not in the least bit bothered, and produces correct results. It happens after approximately 24*24*3600+20*3600+31*60+51 = 2147511 cpu seconds were spent. This is very close to 2^31 milliseconds, which hints at a signed 32 bit integer overflowing somewhere. Probably not many people run calculations of several cpu weeks. The phenomenon is reproducible, I have seen it with another long calculation, at exactly the same moment. The process itself reports its cpu usage using the times(2) system call, as follows: CPU (total) real: 178h 3m 6.43s, usr: 38163h 3m 32.80s, sys: 2542964h 7m 37.79s, total: 2581127h 11m 10.59s The user and system times obtained via times(2) are wrong, but the elapsed time (measured by the times(2) return value) is OK. Bug#641909: /usr/bin/smplayer: smplayer buttons and menus issue after mplayer update
Package: smplayer Version: 0.6.9-4 Severity: important File: /usr/bin/smplayer Dear Maintainer, after mplayer packet update from 1.0~rc4.dfsg1-2 to 1.0~rc4.dfsg1+svn33713-2 , smplayer menus and buttons does not work anymore. smplayer buttons (start/stop/arrows) are grey. Moreover, this is not possible to use keyboard keys (arrows) in order to move inside video. This is not possible to shutdown smpalyer by using the top-right cross. Only way to shutdown it is to use: killall -9 smplayer ; sleep 1s; killall -9 mplayer The only way to fix this issue is to downgrade mplayer, from 2:1.0~rc4.dfsg1+svn33713-2 to 2:1.0~rc4.dfsg1-2, by using manual .deb download and install: dpkg -i mplayer_1.0~rc4.dfsg1-2_i386.deb After mplayer downgrade, smplayer working fine. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (90, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 3.0.0-1-686-pae (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages smplayer depends on: ii libc6 2.13-18 ii libgcc1 1:4.6.1-4 ii libqt4-network 4:4.7.3-5 ii libqt4-xml 4:4.7.3-5 ii libqtcore4 4:4.7.3-5 ii libqtgui4 4:4.7.3-5 ii libstdc++6 4.6.1-4 ii mplayer 2:1.0~rc4.dfsg1-2 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.4.dfsg-3 Versions of packages smplayer recommends: ii smplayer-themes0.1.20+dfsg-1 ii smplayer-translations 0.6.9-4 smplayer suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#632003: i686-w64-mingw32-gcc --print-prog-name gives wrong result for some tools

Do you have a particular use-case which requires using -print-prog-name to find these tools? Sorry to interfer, but I have. Some programs do DLLTOOL = `$CC -print-prog-name=dlltool 2/dev/null` to derive DLLTOOL from CC. This saves the trouble of setting DLLTOOL separately. This is useful when cross-compiling and it worked with the old mingw32: i586-mingw32msvc-gcc -print-prog-name=dlltool /usr/lib/gcc/i586-mingw32msvc/4.4.4/../../../../i586-mingw32msvc/bin/dlltool That works because mingw32-binutils installs binaries in /usr/i586-mingw32msvc/bin, which is part of i586-mingw32msvc-gcc's search path for programs (as shown by the -print-search-dirs option). I chose not to install binaries in /usr/$target/bin since it goes against Debian policy. Eventually I hope to drop /usr/$target entirely, once the multiarch policy is extended to cross-compiling packages... From what I've been able to determine, -print-prog-name is only supposed to help users determine which tools gcc is using, and concerns itself only with tools which gcc uses directly: as and ld from binutils, and the various language processors (cc1, cc1plus, f951, gnat1, lto1 etc.) along with collect2. For all these programs -print-prog-name gives the correct result. i686-w64-mingw32-ar which you mention isn't used by gcc. But that raises the question of the proper way to find ar/dlltool for the compiler target platform. I'd suggest a two-pronged approach: first check to see whether a target-triplet-prefixed tool exists, and only if that fails ask gcc. In addition, if gcc's answer doesn't include the binary's path, it has to be ignored - if gcc doesn't find a given program in its search path it just outputs the program name as given on the command line! In any case, I like to thank you one thousand time for packaging mingw-w64 so I can finally ignore mingw32 and its non-maintainer. You're welcome! Now, if only I could get readline to build... Good luck... Regards, Stephen signature.asc Description: PGP signature

Hi english and debconf message experts, Christian PERRIER bubu...@debian.org wrote: MOst of Debconf interface (and specifically the most common one, dialog) show note synopsis as a title. That explains why a fulle sentence with a verb is mostly viewed as inappropriate. Uups. I just tried with DEBIAN_FRONTEND=dialog, and what I get looks like this: ┌─┤ ├┐ │ │ │ TeX configuration cannot handle the system paper size Monarch │ │ │ │ Your system-wide paper size is set to Monarch. However, the TeX configuration system cannot handle this paper │ │ size for all programs. I assumed that there would be the package name between the ──┤ ├── at the top, but it isn't. Which means that after the wording change -_Description: TeX configuration cannot handle the system paper size ${libpaperPaper} +_Description: Unmanageable system paper size (${libpaperPaper}) it is hard for the user to understand what the dialog is talking about - they need to read to the second sentence in the second paragraph before finding the information that this is about TeX. Doesn't that mean we should reword the english short description again? And after adding a mention to TeX somewhere, we'd end up somewhere near to System paper size not manageable by the TeX configuration (note that 'TeX' only would be technically wrong). Quite near to the initial phrase... Moreover, I don't see why the title cannot be a short sentence, in particular since IIRC there are frontends that display only the short description. But it seems I am in a minority position here. That may differ in German, but I think that most German translators have stick to that rule (which is described in the DevRef). Hm, I don't read that there. There's no specific rule for error templates, but for some types, sentences are explicitly requested. For notes, it's said to be a title, and notes are near to errors. But I don't see why a good short error description shouldn't be a sentence. msgid Unmanageable system paper size (${libpaperPaper}) msgstr Nicht verwaltbare Systempapiergröße (${libpaperPaper}) This is correct, but I find it horrible to read in German. Is there any rule no to use a short sentence like systemweite Papiergröße kann nicht eingestellt werden? [...] In German, the original translates quite well to what I suggested above, although I didn't remember the original wording. It's understandable, and it may even be common. But then it's common because there are lots of people, in particular in technical fields (and in that sense, administration is technical, too) that don't care about language... That doesn't make it less ugly to me, but ugly is a word that expresses a taste... Bug#641916: planet-venus: If using default themes, precompilation should be optional
Package: planet-venus Version: 0~bzr116-1 Severity: normal Hi. If one wishes to use default templates, it's possible, by stating the full absolute path to the theme dir : output_theme= /usr/share/planet-venus/theme/classic_fancy/ But then the templating system complains that it cannot write to that dir, obviously. A possibility would be to test if the template dir is writable, and if not use : htmltmpl.TemplateManager(precompile=0) Thus, one could use specific themes, or the default ones without duplicating the theme dir locally. Bug#641917: dhelp: Greek localisation
Package: dhelp Version: 0.6.19+nmu1 Severity: wishlist Tags: l10n patch -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Attached is a patch to localise dhelp for the Greek language. Bug#561883: Patch to address the bug
tags 561883 + patch thanks The attached patch solves the issue in all affected versions of dhelp (up to 0.6-19). What the patch does is to use shell scripts for decompression and conversion. The scripts hide the -often quite large- output from the tools and instead just output one line with the offending document's filename. That way the cron job returns a small and easily comprehensible message on errors. Anyone wishing to investigate the error can then manually invoke the decompression/conversion tool upon the file. The patch has been successfully tested with regard to package-building, installation and correct operation on version 0.6-19 sources. regards George Zarkadas --- a/Makefile +++ b/Makefile @@ -44,6 +44,9 @@ install: cp *.rhtml *.tmpl swish++.conf $(DESTDIR_)/share/dhelp/ mkdir -p $(DESTDIR)/etc cp dhelp.conf-sample $(DESTDIR)/etc/dhelp.conf + mkdir -p $(DESTDIR_)/share/dhelp/scripts + cp scripts/* $(DESTDIR_)/share/dhelp/scripts/ + chmod 755 $(DESTDIR_)/share/dhelp/scripts/* # Translations for i in po/*.po; do \ mkdir -p $(DESTDIR_)/share/locale/`basename $$i .po`/LC_MESSAGES/; \ --- a/debian/dirs +++ b/debian/dirs @@ -1,4 +1,5 @@ usr/share/dhelp +usr/share/dhelp/scripts var/lib/dhelp var/lib/dhelp/tmp etc/apache2/conf.d --- /dev/null +++ b/scripts/conv-pdftotext @@ -0,0 +1,14 @@ +#!/bin/sh +# Script optimised to run from within dhelp's swish++.conf. +# That means: +# * No error checking on parameters; edit swish++.conf the right way. +# * Spit output only on errors (a line pointing to input file). +# +# $1 = Input file, $2 = Output file + +2/dev/null pdftotext ${1} ${2} +EXITVAL=$? +if [ ${EXITVAL} -ne 0 ]; then + echo Error converting file: ${1} +fi +exit ${EXITVAL} --- /dev/null +++ b/scripts/conv-pstotext @@ -0,0 +1,14 @@ +#!/bin/sh +# Script optimised to run from within dhelp's swish++.conf. +# That means: +# * No error checking on parameters; edit swish++.conf the right way. +# * Spit output only on errors (a line pointing to input file). +# +# $1 = Input file, $2 = Output file + +2/dev/null pstotext -output ${2} ${1} +EXITVAL=$? +if [ ${EXITVAL} -ne 0 ]; then + echo Error converting file: ${1} +fi +exit ${EXITVAL} --- /dev/null +++ b/scripts/gz-extract @@ -0,0 +1,14 @@ +#!/bin/sh +# Script optimised to run from within dhelp's swish++.conf. +# That means: +# * No error checking on parameters; edit swish++.conf the right way. +# * Spit output only on errors (a line pointing to input file). +# +# $1 = Input file, $2 = Output file + +2/dev/null gzip -dc ${1} ${2} +EXITVAL=$? +if [ ${EXITVAL} -ne 0 ]; then + echo Error decompressing file: ${1} +fi +exit ${EXITVAL} --- a/swish++.conf +++ b/swish++.conf @@ -1,8 +1,9 @@ TempDirectory /var/lib/dhelp/tmp WordThreshold 5 -FilterFile *.gzgunzip -c %f @/var/lib/dhelp/tmp/%B -FilterFile *.pdf pdftotext %f @/var/lib/dhelp/tmp/%B.txt -FilterFile *.pspstotext %f @/var/lib/dhelp/tmp/%B.txt + +FilterFile *.gz /usr/share/dhelp/scripts/gz-extract %f @/var/lib/dhelp/tmp/%B +FilterFile *.pdf /usr/share/dhelp/scripts/conv-pdftotext %f @/var/lib/dhelp/tmp/%B.txt +FilterFile *.ps /usr/share/dhelp/scripts/conv-pstotext %f @/var/lib/dhelp/tmp/%B.txt IncludeFile HTML *.htm* IncludeFile Text *.txt signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

Bug#637653: pu: gdebi/0.6.4+squeeze1
On Mon, 2011-09-12 at 23:59 +0200, Luca Falavigna wrote: As agreed on IRC, I attach new debdiff with suggested adjustment. I also committed the change above in gdebi trunk [0]. It's not been uploaded to unstable yet, as I'd like to include another fix which will require a discrete amount of time to be tested on several environments. Thanks. Is there an (even vague) ETA for the other fix being in a suitable condition to be uploaded? Bug#589585: sudo: -v cannot be combined with -n
This will be fixed in sudo 1.7.8. The problem does not manifest in the sudo 1.8.x branch. - todd -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

I could finalize other little changes (mostly translations), and upload a new revision to unstable including the regex change. Bug#641919: linux-image-3.0.0-1-amd64: VIA-Rhine II resetting: network connectivity lost
Package: linux-2.6 Version: 3.0.0-3 Severity: normal Tags: upstream This is the same behavior as bug #549606. Network connection is lost somehow and dmesg outputs lots of: via-rhine :00:12.0: eth0: Transmit timed out, status 0003, PHY status 786d, resetting... via-rhine :00:12.0: eth0: link up, 100Mbps, full-duplex, lpa 0x41E1 Resetting the machine fixes the issue. This behavior has been happening now and then since the previous bug was closed. It seems to be more likely to happen when there is some heavy network activity (using a torrent client for instance) while some time ago it seemed the opposite (little network activity seemed to trigger the problem). irqpoll seemed to minimize the problem in the past but not fixed it.
