Bug#660824: sysvinit: Please include support for upstart in startpar
Package: sysvinit Version: 2.88dsf-22 Severity: wishlist Hi there, It seems that the discussion about this patch petered out long ago on pkg-sysvinit-devel (http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-sysvinit-devel/2011-October/005345.html), so it's probably time to submit a proper bug report to the BTS (especially since sysvinit appears to be under new maintenance). Pursuant to bug #591791 against Debian Policy about permitting alternate init systems in Debian, I've prepared a patch against sysvinit which would make startpar aware that a given job is implemented as an upstart job instead of a SysV init script and that startpar should defer to upstart to satisfy the dependency. This enables insserv/startpar-based dependency boot to be used for sysvinit in conjunction with upstart as /sbin/init and native upstart jobs as dependencies, and is the first step towards having upstart be genuinely usable on Debian. It also rolls back the previous /lib/init/upstart-job approach, which never worked right with startpar due to the inability to express dependency information. As a result, packages shipping upstart jobs should now ship real init scripts in parallel (per the policy bug discussion), which means some changes to debhelper are wanted before this goes into effect. It does *not* allow bidirectional dependencies between upstart jobs and init scripts. It's assumed that a system that runs upstart will be converted from the bottom up - starting with rcS.d, which more or less needs to be converted as a block anyway. I've tested this patch to be regression-free on sysvinit as well as working with upstart, and verified that the package still builds on non-Linux Debian ports after applying (upstart doesn't run there anyway, so it's a simple #ifdef :P). I've also taken care to avoid adding any new runtime library dependencies here; it would have been nice to use libdbus for talking to upstart, but I guess some might resist such a change. :-) The patch includes two mostly unrelated changes that warrant a mention: - debian/rules has been patched to pass CFLAGS from dpkg-buildflags to the startpar makefile. Not really related, but was invaluable for having a proper debug build when testing. - The patch to startpar.c includes a change to call checkdevpts() early on. this is a bugfix in its own right; unless devpts support is checked at the top of the loop, tasks will be launched as interactive, meaning they won't be run in parallel. This at least impacts the first process launched, I haven't checked if it affects others. Apparently SuSE never had to deal with this bug because the runtime devpts checking code was ifdef'ed out there. In any case, I found a strange interaction between interactive tasks and upstart jobs; so this fix is something of a prerequisite (and may indicate a latent bug in my patch). Please consider including this patch in sysvinit for wheezy. Thanks, -- Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world. Bug#660734: firmware-linux-nonfree: Debian Desktop Installation unusable because radeon firmware is missing
After a fresh debian installation on my laptop, all the screen goes black and grey after a restart, because the radeon-firmware is missing. This also happens in recovery mode. I had to manually fix this by copiing the firmware files after starting from a debian CD ROM. I first tried to fix it with different kernel boot parameters, but they all did not help. The problem does not occure when installing debian squeeze, neither when doing an upgrade from squeeze to wheezy. This propably concerns other Laptops/Computers with ATI grapic cards. Maybe it is related to GNOME 3 which needs 3D support? (just a guess) At least, a hint in the installer would be nice so that a user knows he has to use unfree firmware or else he will be unable to use the system. Thanks! As a simpler workaround you could try passing radeon.modeset=0 to grub's boot options. Once booted you could then install the firmware to resolve it. Still this is an annoying problem if you are just trying to run up a new system. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#660827: tremulous: CVE-2006-2236 (the remapShader exploit) can lead to arbitrary code execution
Package: tremulous Version: 1.1.0-4.1 Severity: grave Tags: security Justification: user security hole CVE-2006-2236 is a buffer overflow in the Quake 3 engine, originally discovered by landser. Due to missing bounds-checking in COM_StripExtension, as used by the remapShader command, a malicious server can cause clients connecting to it to execute arbitrary code. Tremulous is based on a fork of that engine, and version 1.1.0 as shipped in Debian has the same vulnerability. Maybe. However, there are already four variants of C bindings: serial, mpich2, openmpi, and default mpi. Splitting C++ libraries would mean doubling this to 8. Second, the c++ libs were only built with the serial libhdf5 variant, not with any of the mpi ones; I don't know why, and am not familiar enough with hdf5 to know if that makes any difference. I have now pushed my git repository to collab-maint/lsb.git [0], including the following branches: - master with all past Debian releases - master-ubuntu with all past Ubuntu releases (that I could find) - pristine-tar with all past Debian and Ubuntu tarball footprints All past releases are properly tagged using either debian/${version} or ubuntu/${version}. I have also done some work on the package on a separate branch (which includes tiny-dh, dh_python2, LSB4.1, some bug patches, dropping Qt3, etc): - master-experimental-odyx For now, I tested this package by creating a changelog with `git-dch --multimaintmerge --ignore-branch --meta`and defining the version as `4.1~Debian0` (which is a properly native version). I would appreciate a review of my `master-experimental-odyx` branch, including Acked-by/Signed-off-by additions and cherry-picking on another branch (or master). As far as I can tell, most of the Ubuntu diff (besides Multi-Arch as of now) are merged to my branch. Bug#660768: Atalkd fails in Xen DomU - Can't configure multicast
I believe it is not really a bug, but a limitation: Netatalk requires multicast which some NICs (virtual or not) perhaps do not provide. I thought it might be something like that - but figured it was probably better to get that from you guys before raising it as a bug against Xen and see what they make of it. Bug#660831: tremulous-server: CVE-2006-2082 arbitrary file download from server
Package: tremulous-server Version: 1.1.0-4.1 Severity: grave Tags: security Justification: user security hole CVE-2006-2082 is a directory traversal vulnerability in the Quake 3 engine. When the sv_allowDownload cvar is enabled, players can download .pk3 files required by the server; due to missing checks, remote attackers can use this feature to read arbitrary files from the server via .. sequences in a download request. Tremulous is based on a fork of that engine, and version 1.1.0 as shipped in Debian has the same vulnerability. The files are read with the privileges of the server, typically the tremulous-server uid. This bug also affects listen servers (those where a player hosts the server and plays the game in the same process), started via the GUI of the tremulous package; in this case, files are read with the privileges of the user. Package: tremulous Version: 1.1.0-4.1 Severity: grave Tags: security Justification: user security hole CVE-2011-2764 and CVE-2011-3012 are related vulnerabilities in the Quake 3 engine. By writing a malicious DLL (.so file on Unix platforms), a program executing in the engine's bytecode virtual machine can trigger the execution of code outside the virtual machine context. This is particularly severe if auto-downloading (cl_allowDownload) is enabled, since clients with cl_allowDownload enabled will automatically download bytecode from servers to which they connect, and execute it in the virtual machine. Tremulous is based on a fork of that engine, and version 1.1.0 as shipped in Debian has the same vulnerability. Bug#660354: suggest to move frozen-bubble to debian-perl team
Hello joss frozen-bubble 2.212 available on CPAN [1] use Alien::* stuff which is a bit scary. packaging Alien::SDL was not fun. As far as I know, all its dependencies are available in Debian. -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi all, Joachim's work is much better than the hacked packages I have put together. Sorry I still haven't been able to use this as a base to provide better/newer versions. The reason is that despite a number of important shortcomings in the packages I have put out, they do what I need them to do... so there isn't much of an incentive for me to spend more time fighting with packaging issues. Bug#657557: [PATCH] Alternate patch for missing long descriptions
Cyril Brulebois k...@debian.org writes: For the sake of getting my fellow packages/translations maintainers to get the whole picture since you insist so much on proposing a wrong solution and calling mine âpapering over the bugâ, I'll reply anyway. Please don't make up quotes I never said. And thanks for finally responding with more than wrong to support your case even if it doesn't explain why long description in the package db are neccessary or give an example what remains broken with just my patch. Goswin von Brederlow goswin-...@web.de (22/02/2012): Now my patch (attached) fixes this problem by only computing the description-md5 field if it is missing in Packages.bz2. A simple one line fix. The rest of the code already does all the right things and looks up the translation correclty including falling back to 'en' as needed. That's only if you're interesting in getting the translations back. Which is what is done when generating the webpages so this seems rather important to me. Now go read the block of code right above $data{'description-md5'}⦠Let see: # we add some additional data here my $descr = $data{'description'}\000$data{'package'}\000 .($data{'tag'}||''); Description in database format. my $sdescr = $data{'description'}; $sdescr =~ s/\n.*//os; Description in text format. my $did = undef; if (exists($descriptions{$descr})) { $did = $descriptions{$descr}; } else { $did = 1 + $#descriptions; $descriptions[$did] = $descr; $descriptions{$descr} = $did; } Reuse the same $did if the description already exists. Ok, so without your patch this bit of code will share a $did if the short description matches. That certainly differs from what it used to do. So lets see what effect that has: - http://localhost/sid/comixcursors - Package: comixcursors (0.7.2-2) transitional dummy package ComixCursors is a set of mouse pointer themes for X11 in the style of comic-book art. This package is transitional to install the right-handed, translucent cursor set, which is now in the \u2018comixcursors-righthanded\u2019 package. Tags: Culture: Japanese, Made Of: Font, Role: Standalone Data, Dummy Package ... -- Oh wait, we always use the description from the translation file even if it is the english translation. Correct me if I'm wrong but here is how I understand Cyrils patch: It works by fixing the symptom instead of the problem. In [PATCH 2/4] it checks if the Packages.bz2 file contains an description-md5 field, If so it looks up the english translation for the package and replaces the description with the english translation, thereby restoring the long description for the package (line 146 with his patch). ⦠and this is needed so that storing the description in the database (what I pointed to above: $descr, $sdescr, etc.) happens properly, meaning: the long description, not the short one only. True. Without your patch the long description is no longer stored in the package database, only in the translations database. What you haven't explained is why that is needed. Without your patch the packages_descriptions.db (ever only used by bin/parse-packages) and descriptions_packages.db (used in DoShow.pm and Search.pm) will have bogus entries. But the package pages show the translation and searching in the descriptions also seems to properly look into the english translations. E.g. searching for It can be safely removed gives among others: --- http://localhost/search?searchon=allkeywords=It+can+be+safely+removed --- ... Bug#660849: RFA: tremulous -- Aliens vs Humans, team based FPS game with elements of an RTS
Package: wnpp Severity: normal I request an adopter for the tremulous package. I claimed it for the Games Team instead of NMUing it, but I don't actually play Tremulous (or other multiplayer-only games) myself, and it could really do with a real maintainer. I would recommend maintaining it in the Games Team (X-Debbugs-Cc'd). I've also cc'd the former maintainer in case he's interested in this package again. I have done an upload today to fix long-standing security vulnerabilities; there may be more undiscovered vulnerabilities, since it's basically a very old fork of ioquake3. One bug that should be fixed as a relatively high priority by any new maintainer is the embedded copy of libjpeg, #589407; for now I've put in a Lintian override to get the security fixes into the archive, but it should be fixed properly. ioquake3 could be useful as a basis for this. Note that Tremulous has not had an official upstream release since 2006. The upstream website publicizes both 1.1.0 (the 2006 version we have) and GPP1 (Gameplay Preview 1), essentially a beta version of Tremulous 1.2, which might in fact be more popular than 1.1.0 by this point, and is what is shipped in Fedora. See #559652. Perhaps someone who's in touch with upstream could sort this out... The package description is: Tremulous is a free, open source game that blends a team based First Person Shooter (FPS) game with elements of a Real Time Strategy (RTS) game. Players can choose from 2 unique races, aliens and humans. Players on both teams are able to build working structures in-game like a Real Time Strategy game. These structures provide many functions, the most important being spawning. The designated builders must ensure there are spawn structures or other players will not be able to rejoin the game after death. Other structures provide automated base defense (to some degree), healing functions and much more... . Player advancement is different depending on which team you are on. As a human, players are rewarded with credits for each alien kill. These credits may be used to purchase new weapons and upgrades from the Armoury. The alien team advances quite differently. Upon killing a human foe, the alien is able to evolve into a new class. The more kills gained the more powerful the classes available. . The overall objective behind Tremulous is to eliminate the opposing team. This is achieved by not only killing the opposing players but also removing their ability to respawn by destroying their spawn structures. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#660850: gnome-scan: fails building against gegl 0.1.x and babl 0.1.x
Package: gnome-scan Version: 0.6.2-1.1 Severity: serious Tags: upstream Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past) Dear Maintainer, I'm about uploading (to experimental suite first) new babl (0.1.6) and gegl (0.1.8) libraries. I've tested the build process of dependent packages and gnome-scan seems to fails because of changes in upstream source code. Also the structure of the source has changed from older versions (e.g., modules have been splitted in different sub-directories). Actual upstream git repository[1] has a new maybe-devel release (0.7.2) that includes a fix[2] for this issue. It would be great if you could use this info to port a working fix on actual debian package... or even upgrade to the devel snapshot. Thanks for your time and efforts. Bug#559652: tremulous: Update to new 1.2 version
On Sun, 06 Dec 2009 at 03:01:56 +0100, malkavian wrote: Now people uses a update patched version. Maybe new 1.2 version could avoid using it. The newest version available from upstream seems to be GPP1, which is 2 years old and is essentially a beta version of 1.2. (According to whohas, Debian/Ubuntu, Gentoo, FreeBSD and Source Mage currently have 1.1.0, Fedora has GPP1, and Arch Linux has both versions.) Bug#656939: Bug#616367: linphone segfaults on receiving call
On Fri, 4 Mar 2011 08:19:59 Daniel Dickinson wrote: This bug along with the significant other number of bugs about segfaults in linphone means that linphone is unusable by most users, which is a release critical situation that should have been fixed before release (or linphone removed; I'm just reporting the bug because I was testing linphone for my purposes, not because I care about linphone especially). With regards to the number of segfaults with linphone a number of new versions have been uploaded to unstable/ experimental. Could I ask the submitters of these reports to upgrade to the linphone package in experimental and report back if they are still experiencing these issues. If the segfault issues are resolved that would help the migration from experimental- testing. Bug#660266: Fwd: Bug#660266: Failed to download 1rott13.zip
Dear release-managers, please consider the attached diff for rott in stable. I know it's only contrib/games, but anyway... ;) The rott package is able to download the required (but non-free) game shareware data from the publisher's web server in the postinst script if the user wishes so. However, the servers have proven unreliable and users keep complaining about failed downloads, e.g. #660266. We have thus put a copy of the zip file on pkg-games.alioth.d.o. The code is not in unstable, because we have decided to drop the downloading in the postinst script in favor of using game-data-packager. The latter already uses pkg-games.alioth.d.o to download the shareware zip file. - Fabian diff -Nru rott-1.1.1/debian/changelog rott-1.1.1/debian/changelog --- rott-1.1.1/debian/changelog 2010-06-03 07:38:58.0 +0200 +++ rott-1.1.1/debian/changelog 2012-02-20 10:45:52.0 +0100 @@ -1,3 +1,10 @@ +rott (1.1.1-3.1+squeeze1) squeeze; urgency=low + + * As a last resort, try to download the shareware data files +from pkg-games.alioth.debian.org (Closes: ##660266). + + -- Fabian Greffrath fabian+deb...@greffrath.com Mon, 20 Feb 2012 10:45:40 +0100 + rott (1.1.1-3.1) unstable; urgency=low * Non-maintainer upload. diff -Nru rott-1.1.1/debian/rott.postinst rott-1.1.1/debian/rott.postinst --- rott-1.1.1/debian/rott.postinst 2009-08-04 14:23:48.0 +0200 +++ rott-1.1.1/debian/rott.postinst 2012-02-20 10:41:10.0 +0100 @@ -8,6 +8,7 @@ SHAREZIP=1rott13.zip SHAREURL1=ftp://ftp.3drealms.com/share; SHAREURL2=ftp://ftp.3drealms.com/pub/share; +SHAREURL3=http://pkg-games.alioth.debian.org; SHAREMD5=0fafd6b629eab80278fc726e31f9cf41 DOCDIR=/usr/share/doc/rott @@ -45,6 +46,7 @@ if [ ! -e ${SHAREDIR}/${SHAREZIP} ]; then wget --progress=dot --directory-prefix ${SHAREDIR} -c ${SHAREURL1}/${SHAREZIP} || \ wget --progress=dot --directory-prefix ${SHAREDIR} -c ${SHAREURL2}/${SHAREZIP} || \ + wget --progress=dot --directory-prefix ${SHAREDIR} -c ${SHAREURL3}/${SHAREZIP} || \ echo rott: Download of shareware data files failed! 2 fi

The package maintainer and I agreed for a translation update round. At the end of this period, I will send him|her a full patch so that an l10n upload can happen. The full planned schedule is available at the end of this mail. The package is currently translated to: cs da de es eu fi fr gl it ja nl nn pt pt_BR ru sk sv Among these, the following translations are incomplete: gl ja If you did any of the, currently incomplete, translations you will get ANOTHER mail with the translation to update. Other translators also have the opportunity to create new translations for this package. Once completed, please send them as a bug report against the ntop package so I can incorporate them in the build. The deadline for receiving updates and new translations is Thursday, March 01, 2012. If you are not in time you can always send your translation to the BTS. The POT file is attached to this mail. Schedule: Wednesday, February 22, 2012 : send the first intent to NMU notice to the package maintainer. Wednesday, February 22, 2012 : send this notice Thursday, March 01, 2012 : (midnight) deadline for receiving translation updates Friday, March 02, 2012 : Send a summary to the maintainer. Bug#299635: please reconsider using a non-hardcoded $NAME
Hi! I'm packaging the Dogtag PKI Certificate Server, and one of the current blockers is that the tomcat initscript (which the pki instances symlink to) doesn't allow starting a new tomcat instance. I looked at what Fedora does, and they have this in their initscript: NAME=$(basename $0) unset ISBOOT if [ ${NAME:0:1} = S -o ${NAME:0:1} = K ]; then NAME=${NAME:3} ISBOOT=1 fi (though ISBOOT isn't used after this point, so it probably is just a leftover). This would have to be reimplemented in pure shell without bashism though.. something like this: NAME=$(basename $0 | sed 's/^[KS][0-9]\{2\}//') thoughts? :) -- t -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. This makes sense because /var/lock has always been a valid mountpoint, even before /run. Wishlist item next: Ok, just drop this part. As I've learned, the whole exercise will be moot anyway once selinux' support for named file transitions will enter Debian (https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/SELinuxFileNameTransition). Which leaves the /run/lock mounting issue for which I don't have the solution. CC'ing Russell as selinux maintainer. I thought it might be something like that - but figured it was probably better to get that from you guys before raising it as a bug against Xen and see what they make of it. I'll give it a couple of days and see if anyone else has any comments, then I'll raise a ticket against Xen. Well, even if not a bug, it clearly is an issue that a) netatalk needs multicast and b) Xen does not provide it. What I meant was that I suspect netatalk cannot be made to not need multicast. It makes good sense to me that you try raise the issue that apparently Xen does not support multitask in its emulated NIC. Maybe it is simply a configuration option somewhere... Bug#660861: Fwd: /lib/udev/net.agent: ifup on hotplug fail when using systemd
Package: udev Version: 175-3.1 Severity: normal (I'm surprised net.agent was in udev.dev; I'd have thought it would be owned by ifupdown). There's a mismatch which stops this from working: net_ifup(): if [ -e /sys/fs/cgroup/systemd ]; then exec systemctl start ifup@${INTERFACE}.service else exec ifup --allow=hotplug $INTERFACE fi net_ifdown(): exec ifdown --allow=hotplug $INTERFACE i) I applied the obvious fix and it seems to help. off-topic ii) There's some other bug with shutting down wpa_supplicant, which sometimes causes it to fail (I'm using wireless). /off-topic iii) More importantly, the obvious fix may be the wrong one. I'm concerned that there's a big UI fail here for normal users. When systemd starts the interface, it means you shouldn't use ifdown wlan0 - you should use systemctl stop ifup@wlan0.service. Otherwise systemd and ifup get out of sync, which is what's causing the problem here. It suggests a flaw in the way ifupdown is being used under systemd. Consider how LSB scripts are handled. /etc/init.d/ifupdown restart is actually rediected to systemctl, thanks to magic in /lib/lsb/init-functions. Could ifup do the same? Somehow, it would need to detect whether it's being run directly from the ifup@.service file or not... == Steps to reproduce: == 0. Install the systemd package. systemd is a replacement init system. Make sure you know how to recover, IN CASE IT BREAKS YOUR DEBIAN. 1. Configure a working wired network iterface using ifupdown. (I'm actually using wireless, but then you have to deal with the encryption). By default, NetworkManager overrides it. You can probably just remove #NetworkManager# from the start of the line in /etc/network/interfaces. It will then look something like iface eth0 inet dhcp Make sure there's an allow-hotplug eth0 line for it as well (it should already be there). NetworkManager will no longer manage your network interface. ifupdown will manage it instead. 2. Reboot (after making sure your ethernet cable is plugged in) == Expected behaviour: networking still works == The network interface is configured on startup by ifupdown, and you should have working internet access. You can check ifupdown is being used by running ifdown eth0; ifup eth0. ifdown only works when the interface is being managed with ifup. 3. Hot-remove and re-add the network interface (the device, not the cable). I use an ASUS EeePC 701 which has unusual hotpluggable wifi. Probably the eaiest way to emulate this is rmmod atl2; modprobe atl2, where atl2 is the name of the driver for your network interface. == Expected behaviour: working hotplug == - when removed, udev rules run ifdown eth0 to clean up. - when added, udev rules run ifup eth0 to configure it. == Actual behaviour: hotplug doesn't work == When systemd is installed, the ifup is done through a systemd service. You can see this with systemctl status ifup@eth0.service, and it's pretty cool. But the ifdown isn't done through systemd :(. That means systemd doesn't see the removal event. As far as it's concerned, the service is still active. When the interface is re-added, systemd is asked to start the corresponding service. But the service is already active, so there's nothing for it to do. The interface is left un-configured. -- Extra package info: ii ifupdown 0.7~beta2 high level tools to configure network interf (which is an upgrade from experimental, in case that fixed it) ii systemd37-1 system and service manager -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-1-686-pae (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages udev depends on: ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.41 ii libc6 2.13-26 ii libselinux12.1.0-4.1 ii libudev0 175-3.1 ii lsb-base 3.2-28.1 ii util-linux 2.20.1-1.2 Versions of packages udev recommends: ii pciutils 1:3.1.8-2 ii usbutils 1:005-2 udev suggests no packages. -- debconf information: udev/new_kernel_needed: false udev/title/upgrade: udev/reboot_needed: udev/sysfs_deprecated_incompatibility: -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Having this script in a useable form in the package would allow you to distribute updates, fixes and optionally a better version of the script at a later time instead of requiring all people to manually pull the script from the docs. I'll provide the script if you provide me a manpage :) Will do. Can it be POD? sure, pod is fine. Bug#660868: needs minimal porting for new libindicator
Source: guayadeque Version: 0.3.5~ds0-2 Severity: important Tags: upstream patch Hi, with the new libindicator/libindicate in unstable, a rebuild of guayadeque would not fail, but it would lose the indicator support[1], as it looks for an old pc file. I attach a simple patch that solves the issue. As this affects the libindicator[2] transition, I'd like to see the fix in the archive soon and could NMU if you do not object and busy. Bug#660869: krb5-kdc: Cannot change passwords if password history is used
Package: krb5-kdc Version: 1.8.3+dfsg-4squeeze5 Severity: normal Tags: upstream Hi, we recently updated our master KDC from Lenny to Squeeze. Bug#656241: openvpn: tun-based VPNs using the subnet topology are wrongly, sending ICMP redirects
2012/2/22 Simon Deziel simon.dez...@gmail.com: This new patch implements the above pseudo code and rely only on sysctl for kfreebsd compatibility. I tested it with dynamically and statically named tun devices. Please let me know if something should be reworked/improved. I like this idea. However, I think you should change a few things: 1) default.send_redirects=0 and all.send_redirects=0 should be done only if necessary (is not 0) and the original value reverted back after the device was created 2) I'm not sure the tunX is up when you revert the above changes (if necessary). Above is the call for start-stop-daemon but is there any guarantee that it will finish starting the oVPN service in time for the next command in the script? Bug#629899: ap_get_local_host is broken (can't always determine the server's FQDN)
Hello Vincent On Wednesday 22 February 2012 03:39:38 Vincent Lefevre wrote: I'll try to do some tests when I have the time. But there's no reason eth0 would be IPv6 only here (unless there's a huge bug in the kernel). I'm prety sure your apache tries to start before dhclient has given the server its IPv4. And you'll have the local link IPv6 address already. The patch of libapr1 will fix your hostname problem: https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=52709 Basically, all loopback IPv4 resolution is broken while dhclient is running the first time, that is when you have IPv6 on eth0 but no IPv4 on it yet. Then libapr1 internal function call_resolver is wrongly using AI_ADDRCONFIG so that loopback IPv4 addresses are ignored. That is why a manual restart (after dhclient completed) works. I did understand your apache starts. Because you probably Listen 80 rather than Listen 127.0.1.1:80. 127.0.1.1 resolution would fail then, just like the resolution of ypig in your case. I tested it yesterday. Believe me, the source of your problems are in libapr1, not in apache2 packages, nor in the kernel. Je te parie une bierre si tu veux! ;) signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.
