We stumbled into this bug during our Jessie to stretch update. The solution provided in Message #60 worked perfectly. However, the bug is fixed in samba 2:4.8.0+dfsg-2 but Stretch uses samba 2:4.5.16+dfsg-1, so it's not fixed in Stretch. I think it should be mentioned in Stretch release note.

I have observed a similar situation: my armel chroot seems to work all right, but arch-test does not list "armel" as working. In my case, SWPB is causing a SIGILL. It seems that a lot of armel binaries don't use SWPB, but perhaps SWPB (and SWP) are still "officially" required for armel? Who knows?
