Bug#426488: evolution-data-server: package description is misleading

2007-05-29 Thread Ross Boylan
Package: evolution-data-server
Version: 1.6.3-5
Severity: minor

The Debian package description says that the data server manages
address books and calendars. There are parts of this package (e.g.,
camel) that manage the main email functionality of evolution.

I'm not sure exactly what the scope of the package is, but it seems to
be greater than implied by the description. This caused me some
confusion when trying to track down the sources for evolution's mail
handling.

Part of the package may be a data server component that acts as
advertised; the statement in the package description may be true, but
incomplete.

Bug#425803: texlive-base-bin: Version 2007-8 does not configure

2007-05-29 Thread Frank Küster
Svante Signell [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

I first made the installs mentioned above on another box not having
jadetex installed. Later I did the same on the one with jadetex after
removal of jadetex and docbook-utils: dpkg -r jadetex docbook-utils

After that I hold the texlive-base-bin package. No luck with the
texlive-base or texlive-base-bin version 2007-8 on either boxes. Have
not tried with 2007-9 versions. Should they work?

All texlive versions should work as soon as the conffiles are present -
in other words, in case the buggy tetex-base has been purged, as soon as
the list of texlive packages mentioned earlier has been installed with
force-confmiss.

Do I understand correctly that upgrading to the latest texlive packages
in sid still doesn't work on your system? This means that either some
conffiles are still missing, or that there is yet an other bug.

If upgrading really still fails, can you please send the error message
and the temporary file, if applicable?

After this I successfullly reinstalled jadetex (3.13-8) and
docbook-utils (0.6.14-1), but removing them in the first place does not
seem necessary, since version 3.13-8 is dated May 2.

What do you infer from the date of jadetex?

In a large installation, it does not scale to add all users to the
groups granting access to local devices on each machine. In such
configurations it is better to assign that access dynamically at
login, using the pam_group and pam_foreground pam modules.

This is a longstanding discussion and, up to now, no perfect answer to
this has been found. We particularly had to fight with this while
maintaining shadow.

However, the mention you make about pam_foreground is new to me. Where
does this module come from?

It seems that it could be the one module that is OK to give access to
local devices to the person who's sitting in front of the machine.

Which package does it belong to?

After all, we could more generally have an option in D-I to install
the system with that module activated unless disabled. Our current
hardcoded list of useful groups sucks anyway.

Bug#425083: Password expire bug not fixed in samba 3.0.25a-1

2007-05-29 Thread Christian Perrier

I might be able to provide a tcpdump, but I don't understand why a tcpdump is
really needed, because the reason why samba denys the login is quite obvious.
Well, I may have overread Jeremy's request in the bug report but this
is what he felt was needed.

However, as you point later, this may have been another issue, indeed.

So, the tcpdump is probably no longer needed.

But after reading the man page a bit, I found this:

 First with version 3.0.24:
 # pdbedit -P maximum password age
account policy maximum password age description: Maximum password age, in
seconds (default: -1 = never expire passwords)
account policy maximum password age value is: 356

The password expire time is 356 seconds? But on 3.0.24 and before my user has
a expire time of 30 years and I never had any problems with this. So upstream
seems to have a none working password expire validation check for e very long
time. My debian sid box with samba is running for at least 4 years!

Weird. On mine:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~ pdbedit -P maximum password age
account policy maximum password age description: Maximum password age, in
seconds (default: -1 = never expire passwords)

Bug#426489: RFP: phylographer -- Graph Visualization Tool

2007-05-29 Thread Charles Plessy
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

  Package name: phylographer
  Version : April 03 2003
Upstream Author : Alexander Kozik (mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED])
  URL : http://www.atgc.org/PhyloGrapher/PhyloGrapher_Welcome.html
  License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Tcl/Tk
  Description : Graph Visualization Tool

PhyloGrapher is a program designed to visualize and study evolutionary
relationships within families of homologous genes or proteins
(elements). PhyloGrapher is a drawing tool that generates custom graphs
for a given set of elements. In general, it is possible to use
PhyloGrapher to visualize any type of relations between elements.
Used in conjunction with tcl_blast_parser, PhyloGrapher can represent
the results of a BLAST search as a graph.
 .
  Homepage: http://www.atgc.org/PhyloGrapher/PhyloGrapher_Welcome.html

I just started to use tcl_blast_parser and PhyloGrapher today, and they
are useful tools to analyse BLAST biological sequence alignment reports
(BLAST is provided by Debian's blast2 package).

I think that phylographer would be an easy package to prepare. Maybe the
longest part of the work would be manpage writing. This is the reason
why I did not file an ITP: I already have a long queue of manpages to
write...

I would recommend to add the standalone script tcl_blast_parser to the
source package, and to distribute it as a separate binary pacakge (it
does not require a window manager, in contrary to PhyloGrapher). I am
enquiring about the license of tcl_blast_parser parser to its author.

http://www.atgc.org/BlastParser/Blast_Parser.html

I am quite confident that this pacakge would easily find a sponsor if
needed.

Have a nice day,

I have now upgraded to tetex-base-bin 2007-9 and tetex-base 2007-7 after
restoring the conffiles. I assume the other packages will install properly
too, will do that now. What puzzles me is that restoring the conffiles did not
succeed with 2007-8 and 2007-7, respectively, I had to go back to 2007-7
and 2007-6 to do so. The other packages had to be downgraded due to
dependencies. Will report if any new errors occur, otherwise all is fine
with me regrading this bug report.

After this I successfullly reinstalled jadetex (3.13-8) and
docbook-utils (0.6.14-1), but removing them in the first place does not
seem necessary, since version 3.13-8 is dated May 2.

What do you infer from the date of jadetex?

Nothing, I saw that -8 is the new version even since it is dated May 2.
Maybe you also saw the -7.1 works, at least with base-bin-7 and base-6.

I did not have a session file since I never saved one and disabled the

be the problem, -2 refuses to start when no session file is present.

I just saved one with -1 and now -2 also starts.
However -2 should also work without a session file.

Believe me, it does work.

Can you send me the session file you obtained after saving your session

xdm(8) should not create a utmp record, because there is no assigned

IIRC we _did_ have some breakage when xdm started adding utmp records, but
that was long ago, and all fixed by now, and it does create utmp records now.
So this paragraph is out of date.

Bug#404823: FIXED

2007-05-29 Thread ingo
Unbelievable but true, a recent update of a single package in Etch (I cannot
recall which) appears to have fixed all problems.

I have commented out the ehci_hcd from my /etc/modules/blacklist file and here
is my latest dmesg:

usb 3-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 2
usb 3-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
DVB: registering new adapter (TerraTec/qanu USB2.0 Highspeed DVB-T Receiver).
input: TerraTec/qanu USB2.0 Highspeed DVB-T Receiver remote control

So it all works again. What happened? How did the other fellow sufferers fare?

Bug#419091: More information on RelaxNG validation bug

2007-05-29 Thread brian m. carlson
I have compiled libxml2 with RelaxNG debugging (change the #if 0 to #if
1 in relaxng.c) and produced a debugging log[0] with DocBook 5.0CR4 on
the test document.

The interesting part (for this bug) comes around line 11832, where it
claims that Validating element imagedata failed. The group
db.imageobject.content can contain three types of imagedata:
db.imagedata, db.imagedata.mathml, and db.imagedata.svg. libxml2
proceeds to try validating against the last of these, fails because it
does not contain an svg:svg, and promptly gives up.

Unfortunately, there are two other alternatives that it neglected to
consider in totality, the first of which is the valid one.

HTH.

Bug#426491: ucf: [debconf_rewrite] Debconf templates review

2007-05-29 Thread Christian Perrier
Package: ucf
Version: N/A
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Dear Debian maintainer,

On Friday, May 11, 2007, I notified you of the beginning of a review process
concerning debconf templates for ucf.

The debian-l10n-english contributors have now reviewed these templates,
and the proposed changes are attached to this bug report.

Please review the suggested changes are suggested, and if you have any
objections, let me know in the next 3 days.

Please try to avoid uploading ucf with these changes right now.

The second phase of this process will begin on Friday, June 01, 2007, when I
will
coordinate updates to translations of debconf templates.

The existing translators will be notified of the changes: they will
receive an updated PO file for their language.

Simultaneously, a general call for new translations will be sent to
the debian-i18n mailing list.

Both these calls for translations will request updates to be sent as
individual bug reports. That will probably trigger a lot of bug
reports against your package, but these should be easier to deal with.

The call for translation updates and new translations will run until
Wednesday, June 13, 2007. Please avoid uploading a package with fixed or changed
debconf templates and/or translation updates in the meantime. Of
course, other changes are safe.

On Thursday, June 14, 2007, I will contact you again and will send a final patch
summarizing all the updates (changes to debconf templates,
updates to debconf translations and new debconf translations).

Again, thanks for your attention and cooperation.

with this new list. When we switch to Lenny, the tetex/texlive

Suggests:tetex-bin | texlive, tetex-doc | texlive-doc-base, tetex-extra,

Ignore: texlive-full
Why: Requested by math teacher. LaTeX allow math typesetting. Tetex
is the post-Lenny

Do you by chance have the fmtutil tempfiles left from the unsuccessful
try of confmiss-Installation of the newer versions (2007-8 and 2007-7)?

After this I successfullly reinstalled jadetex (3.13-8) and
docbook-utils (0.6.14-1), but removing them in the first place does not
seem necessary, since version 3.13-8 is dated May 2.

What do you infer from the date of jadetex?

Nothing, I saw that -8 is the new version even since it is dated May 2.
Maybe you also saw the -7.1 works, at least with base-bin-7 and base-6.

Ah, well. jadetex seems to have a couple of bugs, I'm not sure whether
they're related. Let's forget about that for now; we're going to take
it over, and I'm preparing an upload of -8 which will change a lot of
things.

Hi,
I'm correcting myself: I've just seen the buildd logs [1], and it seems
that the package correctly builds only on i386s as for now.
I've patched the debian/rules to deal with the .wapi/ issue , so it
should compile correctly also on amd64 machines but, not having one to
test things on, I'm not sure it will fix the bug.

Please, could you verify that it fixes it? The source package is
available at mentors.debian.net [2]. Let me know if it worked.

Kind regards,
David

Bug#426493: Please add a header to permit identifying debreaper bug reports

Package: debreaper
Version: 0.2
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

Please add a a header to reports generated by debreaper to help
distringuish these from the rest of the traffic. I received #426470,
it could very well be generated by debreaper or by new bug reporting
tools, I have no idea, but still there might be bugs in the bug
reporting programs or specific filters I would like to apply on such
 bugs.

This looks like a sane thing to have in all cases on the long term,
just like an User-Agent; reportbug seems to add such a header.

   Thanks,

Yes, thanks for the pointer, and thanks for removing it.

It's also worth noting that if you do have a password set in gconf (base64
encoded) it will use this before checking gnome-keyring. This is probably
why there haven't been more complaints about it - if you are upgrading and
already had this setup then you'll still be using the gconf password, so not
have seen the problem. I deleted pretty much ~/.g* as I'd been through many
versions of gnome on my system and thought it was worth resetting at this
new release, hence I hit the problem.

What version of gnome-panel and gnome-power-manager are you using? I'm
using versions 2.18.1-2 and 2.18.3-1 respectively, I just had to restart
the panel (because it freezes now from time to time). GPM got detached

been seeing this behavior with the panel that was in Debian pre-GNOME
2.18.x update as well.

So, in addition to 'python (= 2.3), python ( 2.6)', it also has the
 explicit 'python2.3' dependency.

this has been generated automatically, and I was already underway
fixing it while, at the same time, moving the package to unstable, but
could not yet get through (too many other things to do).

Bug#425961: iceweasel don't process lockPref settings in /etc/iceweasel/pref/iceweasel.js

I will lock various iceweasel settings for users with lockPref, i.e.
users should'nt be able to install firefox extensions on they're own.

Because /usr/lib/iceweasel/iceweasel.cfg will be overriden due an
iceweasel package update, options should be set in the file
 /etc/iceweasel/pref/iceweasel.js.

To forbid this its possible to set lockPref(xpinstall.enabled, false);.
If i set this option in /usr/lib/iceweasel/iceweasel.cfg it works like
 expected. But lockPref() options in/etc/iceweasel/pref/iceweasel.js
will be ignored, only pref() settings will be processed.
I tested it with various lockPref settings..

/etc/iceweasel/pref is the only location I found where I can set
iceweasel prefs for all users, that would'nt be overwritten due an update.

Due to the fact that there isn't another file to set securely lockPref
settings, I assume that this is a bug.

What you can do is add a .js file in /etc/iceweasel/pref to set the
general.config.filename preference to another file name than
iceweasel.cfg and create this file in /usr/lib/iceweasel, containing
 whatever lockPrefs you want.

Thank you, this works :)

But it should be also possible to set lockPref settings in
/etc/iceweasel/pref. This is the preferred directory for Iceweasel
configuration, all iceweasel configuration should be happen there.

After some downgradings, I think this is not a banshee bug. I tried to
downgrade libmono-cairo2.0-cil , libmono-cairo1.0-cil and even banshee
to testing versions, but still have the same problem. I looked at bugs
in mono but didn't find anything related. Maybe someone with more
expertise could have a look ;)

Hi,

since i switched after this problem from debian to kubuntu, i can't give
you more informations about this. It's a work station so i had to find
quickly a fix, a reinstall did it, didn't thought about nv driver.

En l'instant précis du 28/05/07 20:43, Brice Goglin s'exprimait en ces

 Hi David,

Does this font problem still occur with latest Xorg? If so, could you
 send the output of
 /usr/share/bug/xserver-xorg-core/script 31
so that we see your config and log. Note that 2 people reported that the
bug was fixed by using the 'nv' driver instead of the 'nvidia' one.

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
 Hi,

I have several machines (all T60s) at work running Debian/Etch/AMD64
suffering the same problem: when copying large files over network the
system suddenly freezes and is only rebootable via power-off button.

I can reproduce this bug pretty constantly when running pptp but was not
able to reproduce it without pptp yet, so I'm assuming it's a problem
with pptp-linux or one of the relevant kernel drivers.

I've no idea what the problem is but I noticed that my syslog always
gets spammed with the following lines just before the freeze:

 pptp[4072]: anon log[decaps_gre:pptp_gre.c:407]: buffering packet 484619
 (expecting 484489, lost or reordered)
 pptp[4072]: anon log[decaps_gre:pptp_gre.c:407]: buffering packet 484620

 (expecting 484618, lost or reordered)
pptp[4082]: anon log[logecho:pptp_ctrl.c:676]: Echo Reply received.

Someone pointed me to #416404 which is an open, grave bug against pptpd
in etch, which sounded very similar but it's filled against pptpd
(server) which is not even installed on those systems but pptp-linux
 (client).

   http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=416404

There is a chance that those bugs are somehow related though since the
syslog seems to tell me that there is something wrong with the package
 ordering just before the freeze.

 Cheers,

 Bastian

 Hi,

I've talked to the developers of the e1000 driver and it seems they're
aware of this problem. For them it seems to be a hardware issue,
although I still not managed to reproduce this bug *without* pptp.

 I'm closing this bug now.

Sorry for filing a grave bug against your package and many thanks for
your help to get more infos about it.

Yes, downgrading to 2.0.6-5 from stable solved the problem. I've seen
that version 2.1.0 of simpleparse bundels a modified copy of mxtexttools

Bug#426503: clamav-daemon aborts if freshclam process takes long time

2007-05-29 Thread Tim Van Holder
Package: clamav
Version: 0.90.1-3.1lenny2
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

This past weekend, freshclam seems to have had serious issues contacting
the db mirrors. This would not be a big deal in and of itself, but it
seems to have caused a more serious situation to occur.

On Sunday morning, the clam daemon exit with a fatal error:

Sun May 27 08:18:30 2007 - SelfCheck: Database modification detected. Forcing
reload.
Sun May 27 08:18:30 2007 - Reading databases from /var/lib/clamav

Sun May 27 08:25:00 2007 - ERROR: Can't unlink the pid file

So it seems to me that freshclam had the database locked for updating
(for a long time due to the db server connectivity issues), causing the
daemon to terminate (and by default there is no cronjob/inittab entry
to restart it when it fails).
As a result the mail queue this morning had over 14000 messages (where
we normally hover around 3000, most of which are failing attempts at
sending bounce notices for spam that didn't score high enough to be
discarded).

Bug#364295: FLTK2

2007-05-29 Thread Miriam Ruiz

Gnash developers have recommended me to use FLTK2 as a backend for gnash.

http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/gnash-dev/2007-05/msg00373.html

Is there any plan to have it in the archive soon? Do you need a helping
hand?

2007-05-29 Thread William Xu
Package: xpdf-reader
Version: 3.02-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

When opening a pdf file, at first zoom in/out keys, namely, `-' and `+'
works nicely. But if i use `w' to make it fit width, then try `-', `+'
again, it does nothing. So it looks like fitting width/height has some
flaws.

Bug#426504: scapy: fails to byte-compile when python2.3 is installed

2007-05-29 Thread Arnaud Fontaine
Package: scapy
Version: 1.1.1-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch

Hello,

According to the XS-Python-Version field of debian/control, scapy is
useable with python 2.3, however it isn't because it uses decorators
which have been introduced in python 2.4 AFAIK. Thus, the package fails
to byte-compile the module with the following error:

Compiling /var/lib/python-support/python2.3/scapy.py ...
  File /var/lib/python-support/python2.3/scapy.py, line 1898

In debian/control, it should be:

Do you by chance have the fmtutil tempfiles left from the unsuccessful
try of confmiss-Installation of the newer versions (2007-8 and 2007-7)?

Unfortunately I have rebooted since the upgrade so the files in /tmp/
are lost. Maybe I can upgrade yet another box from previous texlive
install (have to check) by first purging tetex-bin and installing the
new texlive-base (2007-7) and texlive-base-bin (2007-8). Version 2007-9
of texlive-base-bin seem to work for you as described above. Maybe this
is not even interesting since the latest version is now 2007-9 :-)

Hi,

Thanks for using ogle and taking the time to file a bug report. This
is currently a known issue, and a work around is listed in:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=291850

I'm not too sure what if anything can be done to make this more
sensible by default - there is no way to get the geometry of each
display individually using xinerama as I understand it.

If someone can send a patch that does something to improve this to

Debian.

Bug#415239: 2.6.21-1-amd64 untainted report

2007-05-29 Thread Hamish Moffatt
Here is vanilla 2.6.21-1-amd64 with no out-of-tree modules crashing.

I also had it lockup with no messages logged at all previously.

In this case I set the governor to userspace and set the frequency to
1GHz manually, rather than using 'ondemand'.

The crashes seem to be essentially random so perhaps I should be looking
for a hardware fault. However it's totally stable (for months now) at
2.2GHz.

Bug#412289: linuxlogo: does not create /var/run/linuxlogo at installation

2007-05-29 Thread Francesco Potorti`
When freshly installing linuxlogo on a system, I have to manually
crate the /var/run/linuxlogo directory. This should be done in the
 postinst script, I suppose.

Probably I misunderstod the problem at the time. Anyway, what I observe
now is that on systems (like Ubuntu) which mount /var/run at boot time
on tmpfs, the /var/run/linuxlogo directory does not exist at boot, and
consequently /etc/issue.linuxlogo is a dangling symlink and the linux
logo is not shown on the console login screen.

This patch partially solves the problem:

*** /etc/init.d/linuxlogo~ 2006-11-24 12:04:50.0 +0100
--- /etc/init.d/linuxlogo 2007-05-29 11:35:46.0 +0200
***
*** 24,29
--- 24,30
  case $1 in
start|restart|force-reload)
log_action_begin_msg Updating the ${DESC}
+ mkdir --parents /var/run/linuxlogo
$DAEMON -f /etc/issue.linuxlogo
$DAEMON -a -f /etc/issue.linuxlogo.ascii
for F in /etc/issue.linuxlogo /etc/issue.linuxlogo.ascii

however, it does so only after one has logged in and out, because the
first getty for each terminal is called when the /etc/issue.linuxlogo
file is still a dangling symlink. I think the easiest way out is to get
rid of symlinks and just create the files under /etc. This would only
require a change in the install/remove scripts.

Bug#389381: kexec-tools: Please add configure --without-zlib

2007-05-29 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen

I suspect there are only two possible solutions to this problem.
Either link the binaries statically (not a good idea in general, and
not guaranteed to work), or get the zlib shared library moved to
/lib/.

Is this problem still present, btw? When using ldd, neither of the
programs in version 1.101-kdump10-2 show libz as a dependency:

  % ldd /sbin/kexec
  linux-gate.so.1 = (0xe000)
  libc.so.6 = /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 (0xb7e14000)
  /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7f5e000)
  % ldd /sbin/kdump
  linux-gate.so.1 = (0xe000)
  libc.so.6 = /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 (0xb7e8)
  /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7fca000)
  %

Happy hacking,

That means you shouldn't even have it. You should be able to remove it
safely. It's weird you even have it, maybe you once use external
packages or installed themes manually? I don't really know other reasons
 =/

In one of my previous mails I wrote: the workaround I used was simply
copying [2] to [4] - thats the reason for the existence of the icon ;)

including the hires-icon in xfce4-panel and notifying upstream might
be most convenient for end-users, I think?

No. It was like this before, but some other soft may need it (and you
can't assume xfce4-panel is installed anyway, or ship this icon in each
software). It's better to have it in themes.

the xfce4-panel package already ships these icons ([1], [2]), but a
lowres version of it, why not also ship a hires verion? It doesn't hurt
if xfce4-panel includes a hires version

password age', or on the older samba a 'pdbedit -C max password age'

I think two bug-reports got mixed up... I never had the 64-bit time_t on
32-bit system problem. But trying to lookup the policy for the password
 expiration time helped a lot.

Agreed, these are not the same bug. Dropping the 'forwarded' tag.

Knowing that 3.0.24 and before seems to ignore the max password age and
simply using 30 years for all users, and 3.0.25 for the first time really
uses this value I changed that with pdbedit:

Yes, I don't understand why this wasn't used previously; but:

I am not sure where (my) default of 356 seconds came from, but when it's
the default on every debian machine with samba, then you probably should
change that to never / -1 for samba = 3.0.25.

It's not the default on every Debian machine with samba. I have Debian
systems with samba installed where the pdb was first created with samba
3.0, and systems where it was created with samba 3.0.24; and none of my
systems show this issue.

So I would say that, given that the current behavior appears to be correct,
this is not a bug and the report can remain closed.

Ah, the name changed between 2.4 and 2.6 indeed. The documentation

Indeed but this will only happen without user changes if the dbus people

Yes, that's what a bit of Googling suggests:

http://www.google.com/search?q=modify_ldt_ldt_s%20user_deschl=en

 The documentation
should probably now say user_desc and remind that it was called
 modify_ldt_ldt_s in 2.4 and earlier.

Yes, I will do something like that. Will send you the
updated text later.

Thanks,

Michael

Bug#426284: debian-installer: partitioner doesn't seem to create RAID devices

2007-05-29 Thread Toni Mueller

Hi,

On Mon, 28.05.2007 at 22:51:42 +0200, Frans Pop [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

I guess you mean the official Etch installer?

yes.

create RAID devices using the menues. When I'm in the partitioner, I
create identical physical RAID volume layouts for my (two SATA)
disks, recognized as sd2 and sd3, then go to Configure Software RAID,

sd2 and sd3? Sounds very unlikely as disks are named sda, sdb, sdc, etc.

Yes. I confused the SCSI channels with the disk names. The disk names
are sda and sdb, and the channels are SCSI2 and SCSI3. Sorry...

 Please provide:
 - the output of 'fdisk -l' for both disks just _after_ the point where you
select configure software RAID and have confirmed that you want to
write pending changes to the partition table

~ # fdisk -l

Disk /dev/sdb: 250.0 GB, 250059350016 bytes

 - a verbose description of the dialogs you see after choosing configure
software RAID and the choices you make c.q. values you enter

I start out like this:

In the partitioner, I chose Manual. I now skip the part that gets
me the disk layout like shown above with fdisk -l, and start with an
ASCII screen shot:

[ some blurb ]

Configure software RAID
Guided partitioning
Help on partitioning

 SCSI2 (0,0,0) (sda) - 250.1 GB ATA ST3250620NS
   #1 primary 296.1 MB B K raid
   #2 primary 249.8 GB K raid
 SCSI3 (0,0,0) (sdb) - 250.1 GB ATA ST3250620NS
   #1 primary 296.1 MB B K raid
   #2 primary 249.8 GB K raid

 Undo changes to partitions
Finish partitioning and write changes to disk

I chose the first option: Configure software RAID. The next dialogue
shows this text and asks for a decision: yes, no, go back:

When RAID is configured, no additional changes to the partitions in the disks
containing physical volumes are allowed. Please convince yourself that you are
satisfied with the current partitioning scheme in these disks. Keep current
partition layout and configure RAID?

I answer with yes. Then, a menu with the following alternatives pops up:

 Create MD device
 Delete MD device
 Finish

I chose Create MD device. The next screen asks me for a disk type I want:

Please choose the type of the multidisk device to be created.

 Multidisk device type:

 RAID0
 RAID1
 RAID5
 Cancel

I choose RAID1 and get the following dialogue:

No RAID partitions available

No unused partitions of the type Linux RAID Autodetect are available. Please
create such a partition, or delete an already used multidisk device to free its
partitions.

If you have such partitions, they might contain actual file systems, and are
therefore not available for use by this configuration utility.

At this point, I have two options: Go Back, or Continue. I hit
Continue, and arrive at the menu where it says Create MD device,
Delete MD device, Finish...

The partitions should empty, as the disks are brand-new. I tried to
re-partition the disks to destroy any possibly existant formatting,
but to no avail.

Anything else I should try?

Best,
--Toni++

 Some .dpkg-old dating from 2002.

Could you please send the changed files?

 Attached the complete directory.

Sorry for not answering earlier: Everything is (nearly) as expected with
those files, but you have (or had) versions that correspond to

First thing saned tries to do is bind to port 6566 on local interfaces.
If IPv4 and IPv6 are both active though, the 'v6 is done first, which

Which is not a problem, and accounted for in the code.

Binding only the in v6 is perfectly acceptable; the v4-compat mode
 will allow v4 connections.

How is this not a bug? You are asking me to switch my system to

I strongly believe this *is* a bug.

Bug#426513: xserver-xorg-video-ati sometimes crashes soon after starting

2007-05-29 Thread Dave Holland
Package: xserver-xorg-video-ati
Version: 1:6.6.3-2
Severity: important

After a recent dist-upgrade to etch, I'm finding that sometimes - but
not always - xserver-xorg-video-ati crashes soon after starting. The
xorg.log contains:

Backtrace:
0: /usr/bin/X(xf86SigHandler+0x84) [0x80c4354]
1: [0xb7f0f420]
2: /usr/bin/X(Dispatch+0x81) [0x8086b91]
3: /usr/bin/X(main+0x489) [0x806e699]
4: /lib/i686/cmov/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xdc) [0xb7d00ebc]
5: /usr/bin/X(FontFileCompleteXLFD+0xa9) [0x806d9d1]

Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting

(This appears to be similar to bug 413463 but note that that problem was
not reproducible with 6.6.3-2. Also I am not using MergedFB.)

This is on a Compaq Evo N610c laptop; the video chipset as reported by
lspci is ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility M7 LW [Radeon Mobility
7500].

The problem *seems* to be related to either starting Mozilla or bringing
up eth0 (DHCP wired connection) but I'm not able to reliably trigger the
X crash with either of those actions.

I'm attaching the complete xorg.log (x-crash.txt) and my xorg.conf.

thanks,
Dave

  Agreed.

It would be nice if saned would come with an init.d script and be

Alternatively, it should use update-inetd to register itself with
the inet-superservers.

I think I see the problem, in wav.c. Please try again, I've committed code

If I add `-x', it doesn't complain, but plays static noise.

Bug#426138: Good idea!

2007-05-29 Thread Per Olofsson

Hi,

I think this is a good idea. CPU frequency scaling should be enabled by
default, it seems like the Right Thing to do. I believe Ubuntu has had
it enabled by default for a long time now, so it should work.

 Hi.

Please raise the priority to grave since this makes Icedove uninstallable
without removing Typeaheadfind and DOM inspector.

 Actually: where have they gone?

Does dist-upgrade (suggest to) remove the packages that are not available
anymore?

Bug#426477: tasks: segfaults when I select a Priority

I start tasks, select a task to edit, select a prio, tasks segfaults:

Whoops, typo in your theme.

 (tasks:19504): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_cell_view_set_displayed_row:
 assertion `GTK_IS_TREE_MODEL (cell_view-priv-model)' failed

Very strange! Can you get a back trace of this?

 (tasks:19504): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: IA__g_object_set_valist: object
class `KotoTaskEditorDialog' has no property named `transient-for'

I've fixed this in svn.

 Segmentation fault

I hope that this was caused by the property setting failing. If you can
attempt a build from svn to check, that would be great.

Yes, it does.
