Hi Sébastien, On Mon, 27 Aug 2007 21:18:30 +0200, Sébastien Hinderer wrote: However: I am not sure that adding exim4-daemon-light to the build deps is the right way to solve the problem. Yes, very suspicious. I first tried to use userdefs.h but failed to fix the problem. It seems configure overwrites userdefs.h but there might be an option for configure not to search SYSTEM_MAIL etc. (Hmm, I forgot to update changelog.Deian, I'll fix it in the next upload.) I didn't think it was the best way but I wanted to fix this bug rapidly for non-i386 architecture which should be built by buildd. This indeed enforces the use of exim4 as MTA, where as things will, I guess, also work with any other MTA. Therefore, I'd suggest to replace exim4-daemonq-light by the virtual package mail-transport-agent in the build dependencies. I doubt that to put exim4 in Build-Depends (not Depends) enforces the use of exim4 as MTA. Am I missing something? Anyway I'll try more good solution (including your suggestion) later. Bug#439147: [Pkg-scicomp-devel] Bug#439147: libglpk0: some routines emit messages even with GLP_MSG_OFF set
Hi (I'm the bug reporter) ... Also sprach Rafael Laboissiere: Thanks for your comments. I think that the GLPK manual should be adjusted in order to reflect the above. At two different places, I read: Message level for terminal output: GLP_MSG_OFF --- no output; GLP_MSG_ERR --- error and warning messages only; GLP_MSG_ON --- normal output; GLP_MSG_ALL --- full output (including informational messages). Could you please propose a patch to be applied to the Debian package such that the bug report can be closed? I had an additional message from Andrew saying that the bug would be fixed in the next version. I presume the interchange is working its way through the debian system (I think I cc'd my message to Andrew to [EMAIL PROTECTED], but I don't see a cc on his reply). Anyway, here's the relevant part of Andrew's reply to me (with a fragment of my message to him quoted incidentally): It says this paragraph describes all control parameters currently used in the simplex solver. and ... message level for terminal output. and .. GLP_MSG_OFF - no output. So one would naively conclude that that was definitive! You are right. This bug will be fixed in the next version of the package. I gave a minor source analysis too. The message seems to happen because it is conditional on LPX_K_MSGLEV = 3, not on GPL_*, and 3 is the default value. Setting GPL_* doesn't do anything for it. The lpx_adv_basis() routine in which the message occurs is called by the gpl_simplex() algorithm, not by me directly, when the presolver is enabled, so I'd have no a priori reason to suspect that it was involved. Trying to set the LPX_K_MSGLEV value directly on the lp problem involved doesn't seem to help at present either, but I don't know why. I presume the lp problem is given default LPX_ values internally when the presolver is called. It looks as though he just needs a more general cleanup of messages, but I guess he could set the LPX_ values in the problem to the prevailing GPL_ ones when the lpx_* routines are called from gpl_ ones. The video and input driver ABIs changed in xserver-xorg-core 1.3.99 (the one in experimental), so all driver packages in experimental are built for this new ABI and cannot work with 1.3 (in unstable). But no driver actually depends on this new xserver-xorg-core. So you can try rebuilding xserver-xorg-video-ati from experimental against unstable. IIRC, you should just have to change the build dependency from 1.3.99.0 to 1.3.0 in debian/control. Or you can try building to upstream driver manually with http://bgoglin.livejournal.com/10936.html. Bug#439674: Way too difficult to find if some license is DFSG-free at all
Hi! Short reply on a simple topic: Am Sonntag, den 26.08.2007, 17:48 +0300 schrieb Juhapekka Tolvanen: Which Creative Commons -licenses are DFSG-free and which are not? Which versions of those Creative Commons -licenses are free and which are not? CC by and sa options (from version 3 at least) are considered DFSG free - that's also the reason why your mentioned ttf-konatu is in main, ftpmasters are well aware of that. There were quite some discussions going on between the CC and Debian people to get these parts into an acceptable state. 1) Sometimes aptitude, vrms and other tools show some package in main, when in reality it is not DFSG-free package at all; It happens all the time with packages that come from some unofficial apt-get-source. Packages of debian-multimedia.org are very good example of such packages. Yes, I noticed that annoyance too, especially since mostly everything in marillat's main repository is non-free. But given that it's an unofficial repository we can't regulate him for that (even though he is a DD). On the other hand, how should aptitude/vrms be able to figure out if it is an unofficial repository and not a mirror? If you have a solution for that problem pretty please file a bugreport against aptitude/vrms with it. 2) First I must find some Debian-package that has exactly the same license whose DFSG-freeness I am trying to figure out and then check out if it has gone to main or non-free. But it is almost impossible: packages.debian.org do not provide searching packages having certain license. Sometimes Debian do not have any package having same license whose DFSG-freenes I am trying to figure out. Even then you have to check the license closely for options and/or files in the package that fall under a different license and might be incompatible. Packaging stuff isn't easy and whoever told you that is wrong. So long, Rhonda signature.asc Description: Dies ist ein digital signierter Nachrichtenteil

I don't see the point, and the consequence is that when pdf2ps is executed without an attached tty, the output file argument is ignored, and the postscript file is outputted to stdout. This problem causes other packages to fail to build (e.g opensp, #423818), so it would be great if you could fix this ASAP. Thank you, Hi, With no answer from you on this bug since May, I intend to NMU this package with the attached patch, reverting the changes you made to pdf2ps in 0.3.12 and 0.3.13. After thinking about it, I think that the behaviour you were seeking is: - 2 params: output to $2 - 1 param, controlling tty: output to $1.pdf - 1 param, no controlling tty: means that output is probably redirected to a file, so output to stdout. However, this seems broken. A script might rely on the old behaviour (output to $1.pdf), so the output would be lost. I would suggest supporting '-' as a second parameter instead. Note that the above discuss the behaviour I think you were seeking. The actual current behaviour is: - tty: - 1 param: output to $1.pdf - 2 params: output to $2 - no tty: always output to stdout, even if 2 params given, which is totally broken. Also, why is this package a native package? Bug#439883: tzdata: [INTL:fr] French debconf templates translation update
Package: tzdata Version: N/A Severity: wishlist Tags: patch l10n Please find attached the french debconf templates update, proofread by the debian-l10n-french mailing list contributors. If you do not already use it, you might consider using the podebconf-report-po utility, which helps warning translators about changes when you modify some debconf templates in your packages. The usual policy when using it is sending a warning to translators when you plan to upload a version of your package with debconf templates changes (even typo corrections). Then leave about one week for them to update their files (several translation teams have a QA process which requires time). podebconf-report-po will take care of sending the translators the needed material as well as getting the translators adresses from the PO files. All you have to do is just using the utility..:-) Example use (from your package build tree): $ podebconf-report-po This will go through debian/po/*.po files, find those needing an update, extract the translators data from these files and prepare a mail to send to these translators (you can also use the --languageteam switch to also mail the mail addresses listed in Language-Team field). You can also use this utility to request for new translations: $ podebconf-report-po --call This will send a mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with all the needed information and material for new translators to add new languages to your supported languages. If you apply this policy, please forget about these remarks, of courseThis message is generic..:-) -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.22-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash # translation of fr.po to French # This file is distributed under the same license as the tzdata package. # # Several translations merged with translations from debian-installer's tzsetup package # # Christian Perrier [EMAIL PROTECTED], 2002-2004. # Pierre Machard [EMAIL PROTECTED], 2002-2004. # Denis Barbier [EMAIL PROTECTED], 2002-2004. # Philippe Batailler [EMAIL PROTECTED], 2002-2004. # Michel Grentzinger [EMAIL PROTECTED], 2003-2004. # Christian Perrier [EMAIL PROTECTED], 2005, 2006, 2007. msgid msgstr Project-Id-Version: \n Report-Msgid-Bugs-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] POT-Creation-Date: 2007-08-28 07:51+0200\n PO-Revision-Date: 2007-08-28 07:52+0200\n Last-Translator: Christian Perrier [EMAIL PROTECTED]\n Language-Team: French [EMAIL PROTECTED]\n MIME-Version: 1.0\n Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8\n Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit\n Plural-Forms: nplurals=2; plural=n1;\n X-Generator: KBabel 1.11.4\n #. Bug#439884: Some bugs regarding enctypes
Package: krb5 Version: 1.4.4-7etch2 Severity: important Hi, I found some rather major bugs with the enctype handling in MIT Kerberos 1.4.4-7etch2 at least. 1) We have a principal with the following keys: Key: vno 3, DES cbc mode with RSA-MD5, no salt Key: vno 3, Triple DES cbc mode raw, no salt or Key: vno 1, Triple DES cbc mode with HMAC/sha1, no salt Key: vno 1, DES cbc mode raw, no salt Whenever preauth is activated for this principal AS_REQ always fails with the error below Aug 28 09:59:44 XXX krb5kdc[30626]: AS_REQ (7 etypes {18 17 16 23 1 3 2}) xxx.xxx.xxx: NEEDED_PREAUTH: [EMAIL PROTECTED] for krbtgt/[EMAIL PROTECTED], Additional pre-authentication required Aug 28 09:59:45 XXX krb5kdc[30626]: preauth (timestamp) verify failure: No matching key in entry having a permitted enctype Changing the order of those two keys fixes this, if the last key is not in mode raw it works as expected. Also removing the raw keys fixes it. When using an AES key and some raw key it always works, no matter what the order is. 2) Another problem with preauth and a Windows client is the following. We have a principal with the keys below: Key: vno 34, AES-256 CTS mode with 96-bit SHA-1 HMAC, no salt Key: vno 34, Triple DES cbc mode with HMAC/sha1, no salt Key: vno 34, ArcFour with HMAC/md5, no salt Attributes: REQUIRES_PRE_AUTH When trying an AS_REQ this fails with the following: Aug 23 12:11:05 XXX krb5kdc[1680]: AS_REQ (7 etypes {23 -133 -128 3 1 24 -135}) xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: NEEDED_PREAUTH: [EMAIL PROTECTED] for krbtgt/[EMAIL PROTECTED], Additional pre-authentication required Aug 23 12:11:05 XXX krb5kdc[1680]: AS_REQ (1 etypes {23}) xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: BAD_ENCRYPTION_TYPE: [EMAIL PROTECTED] for krbtgt/[EMAIL PROTECTED], KDC has no support for encryption type i.e. the KDC thinks it doesn't support 23 (aka RC4-HMAC-MD5) although it in reality does. Changing the keys to the following fixes the problem. Key: vno 35, AES-256 CTS mode with 96-bit SHA-1 HMAC, no salt Key: vno 35, Triple DES cbc mode with HMAC/sha1, no salt Key: vno 35, ArcFour with HMAC/md5, no salt Key: vno 35, DES cbc mode with CRC-32, no salt Attributes: REQUIRES_PRE_AUTH Aug 23 14:16:20 XXX krb5kdc[1680]: AS_REQ (7 etypes {23 -133 -128 3 1 24 -135}) xxx.xxx.xxx: NEEDED_PREAUTH: [EMAIL PROTECTED] for krbtgt/[EMAIL PROTECTED], Additional pre-authentication required Aug 23 14:16:20 XXX krb5kdc[1680]: AS_REQ (3 etypes {23 3 1}) xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx: ISSUE: authtime 1187871380, etypes {rep=23 tkt=3 ses=1}, [EMAIL PROTECTED] for krbtgt/[EMAIL PROTECTED] And as one can see (rep=23) the KDC even uses the enctype it said it doesn't support at all before. 3) When creating a new principal and specifying almost the same enctype twice with only a difference in the hash used only the first one is created: addprinc -policy user -e des-cbc-md5:normal des-cbc-crc:normal test getprinc test Number of keys: 1 Key: vno 1, DES cbc mode with RSA-MD5, no salt addprinc -policy user -e des-cbc-crc:normal des-cbc-md5:normal test getprinc test Number of keys: 1 Key: vno 1, DES cbc mode with CRC-32, no salt addprinc -policy user -e des-cbc-crc:normal des-cbc-md5:normal des-cbc-md5:v4 test getprinc test Number of keys: 2 Key: vno 1, DES cbc mode with CRC-32, no salt Key: vno 1, DES cbc mode with RSA-MD5, Version 4 Changing another component of the enctype will make both created, only a difference in the hash will only create the first one specified. Package: samba Version: 3.0.24-6etch4 Severity: important hi, I'm trying to export usb card-reader volumes via smbfs, so I setup a config stanza that export such dir and {pre, post}exec the needed usb-mount commands. So there seems to be a few problems here: seems that smbd segfaults for some resons, there's no such /var/log/samba/cores/smbdrefusing and no core are actually dumped. Hi, Thanks thomas for the analysis of the problem. this causes gajim to fail to start in the common case where both python2.4 and python2.5 are installed when gajim is installed. Also, if the user does some housecleaning with deborphan, aptitude or debfoster, it will cause python2.4-pysqlite2 to be removed. Bug#439886: tablix2: New upstream version available
Package: tablix2 Version: 0.3.3-1 Severity: wishlist Hi. A new upstream version of tablix is available. The latest version is 0.3.5. This is the reported news since v0.3.3: 0.3.4: This release mostly fixes bugs in the kernel and existing modules and improves some parts of the documentation. Following new features were also added: Two fitness modules (minrooms.so and simplesametime.so) were added to the distribution (contributed by Seppe vanden Broucke). Several changes were made to the kernel to make building and using Tablix on Microsoft systems easier: The path to modules can now be changed with a command-line parameter and the module loader automatically determines the file name extension for shared libraries used by the operating system. It is no longer necessary to include '.so' extensions in module tags in problem descriptions. An export module for Gnutu Student's Schedule (see http://www.gnutu.devnull.pl) was also added to the distribution. 0.3.5: This release mostly fixes bugs in the kernel. Following issues were fixed: Segmentation fault in the XML parser when no constant resource types were defined. Erroneous messages about failed assertions when resource type with id 0 was a variable resource type. Build error on GCC 4.1. Four fitness modules (firstlastequal, firstorlast, maxconsecutive and maxperday) were also added to the distribution (development sponsored by The Media Shoppe Berhad). Bug#439350: Problems with md5sum mismatches between etch and etch-security
Bernhard R. Link [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: * Goswin von Brederlow [EMAIL PROTECTED] [070824 13:27]: I'm mirroring etch (normal etch) and etch-security (security updates for etch) into one archive. Now I have a problem with conflicting md5sums between etch and etch-security: [...] As you can see the problem is that a different source build was uploaded to etch-proposed-updates instead of copying the security upload and now the files do differ. I consider this a bug in the Debian archive (which I hoped was already fixed). Diggin into it I found out that they made a security upload of etch2 while s-p-u already had an etch2 upload. Someone droped the ball there. Andreas said they are working on it but didn't give any details or timeframe. :( But how do I get reprepro to work despite that? See the FAQ, 1.2, first subpoint: You cannot store two different files with the same name in the same repository. If you take one of the packages and put it manually in the other distribution, all will be fine. I was hoping for some ignore option but I will do that then. Now what way to push? Can I set some option so that etch-security will store its files in pool/updates/... like the official repository? I think this would severly contradict the notion of a pool. (And I also don't know how to implement it in a way that would not cause very strange side effects or anomalies). Hochachtungsvoll, Bernhard R. Bug#439891: Unable to read grown defect data.
Package: scsitools Version: 0.9-1.1 Thanks for nice scsitools package! But sorry, today i have to complain: After upgrading to the current stable version, scsiinfo seems to become unable to read *any* scsi pages (see below). Previous version works used in a cronjob to check for grown defects (which is now broken and litters the logfile). How can i make scsitool run again? What will happen if the box is rebooted? The kernel is monolytic, no loadable modules are supported by intension. After some investigation in READ.Debian and the (new) init scripts: It would have been nice apt giving a warning that updating scsitools requires a reboot(, a kernel with devfs?) and editing of /etc/fstab. (I could have pinned them to the old version, as there is only one user on the box, root) Maybe scsiinfo -l could issue a warning or use /dev/scsi too or list both raw and scsi devices? What will happen to the needscsidev tests if /etc/ftab uses LABEL= to name the partition (very likely to find to avoid the scsi-ID problem)? A more comprehensive error meassage like no /dev/scsi/... found, pls reboot would be nice too ;-) values. debian:~# scsiinfo -l /dev/sda /dev/sdb /dev/scd0 /dev/nst0 debian:~# scsiinfo -c /dev/sda Unable to read Caching Page 08h debian:~# scsiinfo -d /dev/sda Data from Defect Lists -- Unable to read manufacturer defect data. Bug#439892: linux-image-2.6.21-2-amd64: random crashes/hangs on dual-core AMD64 under heavy disk write load (local and NFS)
Package: linux-image-2.6.21-2-amd64 Version: 2.6.21-6 Severity: important My AMD64 dual core system hosts a backup disk (SATA) and every night it takes a local backup and is also accessed over NFS by another system which writes a backup. Every few days, the system has hung or crashed when I go to use it in the morning. This only seems to occur when both systems are doing heavy backups. For a while the remote system's ethernet was broken and I was using a low speed, USB attached ethernet -- the crashes stopped. Now I have replaced the broken ethernet and both systems have working gigabit ethernet devices and the crashes have returned. On Fri, Aug 17, 2007 at 09:36:29PM +0200, Luca Capello wrote: 4) again, at reboot, the machine didn't boot, because the previous /dev/sda1 is now /dev/sdb1. I discovered the real problem: AFAIK the linux kernel erroneously maps the Promise TX4 devices, counting from the last one. I can confirm this because I attached a third SATA HD to the port3/channel3 and this one was marked as /dev/sda instead of the expected /dev/sdc. According to a recent mail on LKML [1], this should be fixed in Linux 2.6.22. The debian-installer has not switched to this new version yet, but packages for 2.6.22 are available from unstable. Could you try it and see if the ordering is correct with the newer kernel? That would be definitely helpful. :) [1] http://lkml.org/lkml/2007/5/22/65 Cheers, -- Jérémy Bobbio.''`. Bug#376209: pam_access.so: console and local name lookups over DNS
tags 376209 confirmed thanks I can confirm this behavior in Linux-PAM 0.99.7.1-2. The from_match() function falls through to evaluating tokens as network/netmask if the token doesn't match the remote host / tty of the applicant in some other way. A possible partial fix is to keep track of whether the applicant has an associated rhost or tty and have from_match() use only checks of the appropriate type; but that would not prevent these strings from being tested as network addresses in the event that PAM_RHOST is indeed set. In fact, given that / is valid in both tty names and in network/netmask pairs, a complete fix will take quite a bit more study. -- Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world. Bug#439735: bible-kjv: Please update source package to use autotools
Hi, In order to get bible-kjv to compile/install on my Man, I have modified the bible-kjv package to use the autotools. I have attached the modified tarball to this report. Please update the package to make use of the autotools. No. I dislike autotools, and I think you need to make a stronger case for me to use them. What exactly were you trying to do? What build errors did you encounter? Why couldn't a simpler approach be used? Bug#439903: update kernel in encrypted root on lvm - wrong menu.lst
Package: grub Version: 0.97-27 I don't know if its the kernel installation scripts fault or some grub scripts, so please forgive me if I'm wrong with my suggestion to blame grub. After the last update/upgrade to a new kernel the system didn't want to boot because after the upgrade the menu.lst wasn't updated the right way. the old entry was: --- title Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.18-4-686 root(hd0,0) kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-4-686 root=/dev/mapper/c533-root ro initrd /initrd.img-2.6.18-4-686 --- the new one was updated to: --- title Debian GNU/Linux, kernel 2.6.18-5-686 root(hd1,0) kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-5-686 root=/dev/mapper/c533-root ro initrd /initrd.img-2.6.18-5-686 --- after changing the root device to (hd0,0) everything works now. I've installed debian 4.0 onto a scsi harddisk /dev/sda and used the debian installer to automatically make and format all partitions with encryption. this results in: /dev/sda1 to be a 250MB ext3 boot partition (/boot) /dev/sda2 to be a ~8GB extended partition /dev/sda5 to be a ~8GB encrypted luks lvm partition (dm-0) holding root (dm-1) and swap (dm-2) additionally there is an unused ide drive (2GB, /dev/hda) with two partitions (swap (hda1) and some old debian installation in one partition (hda2)) The bios is configured to boot the SCSI harddisk. After boot up /dev/hda is suspended via hdparm (-Y). I don't know why it's updated to the wrong root device but I think it's because the SCSI hdd is detected as second HDD now where it was detected correctly as the first one while installation... #cat /boot/grub/device.map (hd0) /dev/hda (hd1) /dev/sda no hardware changes since installation... best regards Michael Heide -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#314699: pam: pam_unix's pam_sm_acct_mgmt return values don't jive w/ what the pam docs say
In PAM 0.99.7.1-2, the only mention of PAM_CRED_INSUFFICIENT in pam_unix is in the _unix_verify_password() function, which is not called from pam_sm_acct_mgmt(). The module does still return PAM_AUTHINFO_UNAVAIL if it can't access the shadow file. It's unfortunate that the spec doesn't include this as an allowed return value from pam_sm_acct_mgmt(), since none of the other return codes are accurate here; but yes, it does seem to be a bug. The other return codes you list are the correct ones, and are now correctly documented in libpam-doc. -- Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world.
