Bug#444377: cyrus-sasl2: [debconf_rewrite] Debconf templates and debian/control review

2007-09-28 Thread Christian Perrier
Package: cyrus-sasl2
Version: N/A
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Dear Debian maintainer,

On Sunday, September 09, 2007, I notified you of the beginning of a review
process
concerning debconf templates for cyrus-sasl2.

The debian-l10n-english contributors have now reviewed these templates,
and the proposed changes are attached to this bug report.

Please review the suggested changes are suggested, and if you have any
objections, let me know in the next 3 days.

Please try to avoid uploading cyrus-sasl2 with these changes right now.

The second phase of this process will begin on Monday, October 01, 2007, when I
will
coordinate updates to translations of debconf templates.

The existing translators will be notified of the changes: they will
receive an updated PO file for their language.

Simultaneously, a general call for new translations will be sent to
the debian-i18n mailing list.

Both these calls for translations will request updates to be sent as
individual bug reports. That will probably trigger a lot of bug
reports against your package, but these should be easier to deal with.

The call for translation updates and new translations will run until
about Monday, October 22, 2007. Please avoid uploading a package with fixed or
changed
debconf templates and/or translation updates in the meantime. Of
course, other changes are safe.

Please note that this is an approximative delay, which depends on my
own availability to process this work and is influenced by the fact
that I simultaneously work on many packages.

Around DAY25, I will contact you again and will send a final patch
summarizing all the updates (changes to debconf templates,
updates to debconf translations and new debconf translations).

Again, thanks for your attention and cooperation.

Bug#444366: xserver-xorg-core: keyboard problem, sometimes KeyRelease event doesn't happen in time

 Package: xserver-xorg-core

After upgrading to Xorg 7.3 in unstable, I'm starting to experience
keyboard problems. After checking using the xev program, the main
problem seems to be the following:

When pressing Ctrl+Alt combination, if I press Ctrl first then press
Alt, the KeyPress event for Alt doesn't happen. Only when I release
Alt key, I get KeyPress event and KeyRelease event together. On the
other hand, if I press Alt first then Ctrl, I get both KeyPress events
immediately after I press the key.

This half-breaks all the Ctrl+Alt+key shortcuts, because pressing
Ctrl then Alt then key doesn't work anymore, and I have to press
Alt then Ctrl then key, which is not what I am accustomed to.

I'm using a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop, with ctrl:swapcaps option. This
only happens for left Ctrl and left Alt. If I use right Ctrl and right
 Alt everything works fine.

I'm also using X input method, I'm not sure that's relevant but I'll
 test without XIM if necessary.

Seems similar to #442963 since you're using ctrl:swapcaps too. It seems
similar to #443471 too actually. So I am merging all these bugs
together. All this could be related to
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12492 in the end...

Bug#444378: run-length encoded response

2007-09-28 Thread Uwe Kleine-König
Package: gdb-doc
Version: 6.6.90.20070912-1
Severity: minor

Hello,

chapter Remote Protocol states:

A `*' means that the next character is an ASCII encoding
giving a repeat count which stands for that many repetitions of
the character preceding the `*'. The encoding is `n+29',
yielding a printable character where `n =3' [...].

   So:
 `0* '
   means the same as .

Given that I read it correctly, `0* ' should only mean 000, because
ord(' ') - 29 == 32 - 29 == 3.

Best regards
Uwe

Bug#444379: wmauda: Dock Icon invisible on startup

2007-09-28 Thread Peter Rabbitson
Package: wmauda
Version: 0.3-3
Severity: important

After a recent upgrade (most notably libgtk2) wmauda does not show its
icon when just started and audacious is not yet running. The following is
logged to .xsession-errors:

(wmauda:6255): Gdk-WARNING **: Attempt to draw a drawable with depth 24 to a
drawable with depth 32

(wmauda:6255): Gdk-WARNING **: Attempt to draw a drawable with depth 32 to a
drawable with depth 24

Double clicking on the now black square where wmauda was supposed to be still
brings up audacious, and subsequently displays the wmauda control panel. But
the volume control in wmauda is disconnected from that of audacios. Only moving
the audacious volume slider seems to link it back to the wmauda's volume bar.

I am including only the default info generated by bugreport, and the relevant
part of xorg.conf. Let me know if any more information is needed.

Thanks

Bug#444381: synaptic: Should provide a choice if package upgrade is stalled by another package

2007-09-28 Thread Andre Wendt
Package: synaptic
Version: 0.60+b1
Severity: wishlist

libgtksourceview2.0-cil is currently upgradeable on my system:

$ apt-cache policy libgtksourceview2.0-cil

 *** 0.10-3.1 0

However, monodevelop is in the way because it depends on version 0.11.
If I do a full-upgrade using aptitude, its default behavior is to keep
libgtksourceview2.0-cil at its current version.

Synaptic, on the other hand, wants to remove monodevelop right away and
does not leave me a choice. I have to manually hold the version I have
installed so that monodevelop does not get removed.

Expected behavior: Provide a choice to accept the changes or look for
another solution to the dependency problem as aptitude does.

Regards,
Andre

Bug#444382: rkhunter: cannot recognize socklog as syslog daemon

2007-09-28 Thread Bastian Kleineidam
Package: rkhunter
Version: 1.3.0-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hi,

on my system the socklog daemon is responsible for system logging:
$ ps -ef | grep socklog unix | grep -v grep
nobody4988 4979 0 Sep27 ?00:00:00 socklog unix /dev/log

But rkhunter did not recognize it. I attached a patch that modifies
the hardcoded metalog into a syslog compatible message.
Then an additional check for socklog unix is added.

  Bastian

I'm afraid this would be practically impossible to do, as I cannot
distinguish the entries written just before suspend and just after
 resume.

For the record, something like

cp /var/log/Xorg.0.log /tmp/

before suspend and

diff -u {/tmp,/var/log}/Xorg.0.log

afterwards should do the trick.

The problem was in missing hypertext fonts, as indicated by the

I think that's only one of two errors. Tex4ht should produce valid mml
files even if the .htf files are missing, as TeX allows users to define
their own fonts. Unknown Characters could be replaced by a square or a
question mark as it is used in other contexts.

Do you have ssh access from another machine? If so, 'DISPLAY=:0 xrandr

Hmmm.. how do I get through authentication?

It should 'just work' when you're logged in. If it doesn't, try stopping
the display manager and running something like

xinit $(which xrandr)

from ssh.

Bug#413391: 1.5.4.3 doesn't fix

 No joy with 1.5.4.3.

Thanks,

Are you still using the same configuration you posted in the bug report?

Could you either set

 server_name=192.168.0.2

or change /etc/apt/sources.list to use localhost rather than
192.168.0.2?

If it still doesn't work can you send the debug output and let me see if
I have broken something else!

The explanation is that apt-cacher was sending a request back to itself
which it couldn't fulfil and therefore hangs.

I am trying to sort out how apt-cacher can identify all possible names
that may refer to itself. Currently it recognises gethostbyname() and localhost.
You have to specify anything else with server_name=. I should
be able to add IP detection which would cover your case at the moment,
but I don't have it in yet.

Thanks for your help.

Sorry for my ultra late reply, I had some other works to do in the last months.
I remember i tried when the 2.1.2-1 was built for arm, but i am running stable
and i obviously couldn't install as-is on stable branch. I downloaded the source
deb package and tried to build for stable, but i wasn't able to accomplish this:
it loops forever, it seems looping. It does configure, make and at a certain
point it restart configure and so on.

I guess I have to upgrade to testing and try this version, unfortunately atm i
have little time to accomplish this. Maybe in the next week or two i can give it
a try.

I'm really sorry.

Bug#444384: inefficient starting?

2007-09-28 Thread jidanni
Package: xdm
Version: 1:1.1.6-3
Severity: wishlist

I noticed something this time while happening to be starting at the
screen when xdm starts:

*Twice* during the oh, two seconds that xdm takes to start, the screen
has this being powered off look to it, where there is this tide of
powered off screen area that advances toward the center from the edges
of the screen, only getting about 1/4 of the way though.

Anyway, this tells me that something is being done twice at the
perhaps unfortunate wear and tear of the hardware.

If this was a simple program (like expr(1)), perhaps it would be no
big deal, but starting X windows certainly should be done with care
for using the hardware non-wastefully...

Attached log file. P.S., inform me if (EE) and (WW)'s can be helped. Thanks.

Anyway, one way to test would be to start xdm on a very slow/loaded
system and watch what was going on on the screen.

Of course I can't help, as my mountaintop equipment has no backup, and
I prefer to just report bugs and leave looking under the hood for the
experts.

P.S., xdm looks good on 800x600 now, but bevel bug is still present at
larger values.

Bug#444392: ITP: miniupnpc -- UPnP IGD client lightweight library

2007-09-28 Thread Thomas GOIRAND
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Thomas Goirand [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: miniupnpc
  Version : 1.0-RC9
Upstream Author : Thomas Bernard [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://miniupnp.free.fr/
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: C, C++
Description : UPnP IGD client lightweight library

The UPnP protocol is supported by most home adsl/cable routers and Microsoft
Windows 2K/XP. The aim of the MiniUPnP project is to bring a free software
solution to support the Internet Gateway Device part of the protocol. The
MediaServer/MediaRenderer UPnP protocol is also becoming very popular but here
we are talking about IGD.

Miniupnpc aims at the simplest library possible, with the smallest footprint
and no dependencies to other libraries such as XML parsers or HTTP
implementations. All the code is pure ANSI C. Compiled on a x86 PC, the
miniupnp client library have less than 15KB code size. For instance, the upnpc
sample program is around 20KB. The miniupnp daemon is much smaller than any
other IGD daemon and is ideal for using on low memory device for this reason.

Description: Database Independent Abstraction Layer for C
libdbi implements a database-independent abstraction layer in C, similar to the
DBI/DBD layer in Perl. Writing one generic set of code, programmers can
leverage the power of multiple databases and multiple simultaneous database
 connections by using this framework.

Bug#444423: mirrors: Packages-File lists packages not present

2007-09-28 Thread Stefan Denker
Package: mirrors
Severity: normal

I tried to set up a new private mirror using debmirror(etch/i386 only).
Using different mirrors, i always ran into the same problem:
debmirror complains about 104 missing files on the mirror, such as
pool/main/l/loop-aes/loop-aes-modules-2.6.18-4-486_3.1d-13_i386.deb
I tried
  * ftp.debian.org
  * ftp.de.debian.org
  * debian.netcologne.de
  * sunsite.informatik.rwth-aachen.de

It seems to me the packages are listed in the Packages.bz2 file, but are
not present on disk.
I even tried to install loop-aes-modules-2.6.18-4-486 on an
etch-machine, but got a 404 Not Found-Error (as expected).

I am attaching the output of a debmirror-run. In there is a complete
list of packages debmirror complains about.

with kind regards

Stefan

Bug#444422: mysql_library_end() complains about threads not exiting

2007-09-28 Thread Paul Millar
Package: libmysqlclient15off
Version: 5.0.45-1
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

When a multi-threaded MySQL client makes more than one connection to the DB,
mysql_library_end() pauses for about 5 seconds, then gives an error message
on stderr. The exact error message depends on the number of threads that
were active, i.e. the number of established DB connections.

For a single thread, there is no error; the code terminates cleanly.

When run with 2 threads (so, 2 DB connections), the error msg is:
Error in my_thread_global_end(): 1 threads didn't exit

When run with 3 threads, the error is:
Error in my_thread_global_end(): 2 threads didn't exit

For 4 threads, the error msg complains about 3 threads, etc.

I've written a small program that demonstrates this problem. The code is
available from:
  http://ppewww.physics.gla.ac.uk/~paul/mysql/mysql-problem.c

Instructions on how to compile and use the program are given within the code.

Bug#444388: libgsl0 build deps block backport

Yup, my mistake it seems. Can you patch that locally for the backport, ie
is it good enough for you if I correct it in my sources or do you need a new
package? This doesn't really affect testing or unstable (yet?) as we still

I already did it locally (to prove it works). Almost killed my setup (which is

You decide - I'm happy with my local fix.

(If you're interested in the background: the data analysis software group of

That all looks completely normal to me. Have you tried swapping the
GPU into other systems to see if it's a particular piece of hardware
or combination thereof that's upsetting the current driver?
  Hi Trent

Well, it's not the radeon driver.
Using xserver-xorg-video-ati1:6.6.3-2 on this system now, this
installation is using linux-image-2.6.22-1-686-bigmem and is broken to
the point where I have to use the vesa driver.
  Another installation also using xserver-xorg-video-ati1:6.6.3-2
and linux-image-2.6.21-2-686, which I posted the details of, also
locked up the radeon 9200se on initializing DRM.

But using xserver-xorg-video-ati1:6.6.3-2 on an installation of
lenny I installed last night/morning on this system, with an older
kernel, linux-image-2.6.18-4-686, is initializing DRM just fine, so it
seems to be an interaction b/w kernel and video driver.

Actually, it's probably not an interaction with the kernel either, I
have dpkg --get-selections lists for most of the installations, but they
don't really mean a heck of a lot to me.

Well, just to confirm, I have upgraded the latest installation to
linux-image-2.6.21-2-686 and upon powering down, then restarting the
system using the newest kernel image the unit worked just fine and DRM
was initialized. However, upon leaving the system idle for a period of
time it locked solid, so it seems to be something to do with DPMI and
the kernel.
On testing further I power cycled the machine and rebooted using
linux-image-2.6.18-4-686, then procedded to allow the power saving
functions of DPMI to execute as normally configured in the screensaver.
However everything worked perfectly and the machine resumed normally.

So the problem definitely seems to be with kernels -- 2.6.21-2-686
interacting with the radeon driver 1:6.6.3-2 to cause the machine to
completely lock, can't ssh in or anything.

Bug#444413: typo in default jigit?

2007-09-28 Thread Rainer Zocholl
Package: jigit
Version: 1.15-2

Package: wget

Knows
-nv, --no-verbose turn off verboseness, without being quiet.

but jigit uses

  --no*n*-verbose

Or is it a flaw in wget?

Bug#444412: Fixed UID and GID in the 60000-64999 range for slurm-llnl package

2007-09-28 Thread oliva . g
Package: base-passwd
Version: 3.5.13

Hello,
I'm the maintainer of the package slurm-llnl. This package provides SLURM
which is a batch queuing system for clusters. In a cluster environment
the package needs to be installed on all the nodes of the cluster.
It usually works with one central manager which assigns jobs to all
the execution hosts.

The SLURM central manager daemon doesn't need root privileges and
therefore I create a slurm user which is the owner of the process
and of some directories.

The problem is that using a non privileged user only works if the user
has the same uid on all the node of the cluster, even if they are only
execution hosts.
To ensure this I need that the SLURM user created on package
installation has the same uid on any system.

I have read the 9.2.2 section of the policy and I think I need
a uid in the range 6-64999 since it should be:
Globally allocated by the Debian project, but only created on
demand. The ids are allocated centrally and statically, but the
actual accounts are only created on users' systems on demand.

Can you please assign a fixed uid and gid for the slurm user
and group in the 6-64999 range?
Thanks for your attention

Bug#376326: G550 dvi output

2007-09-28 Thread Adrian von Bidder
forwarded 376326 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=615
found 376326 1:1.9.99.dfsg.1-1
thanks

Hi all!

This bug is not fixed in the packaged version, but the latest version from
git contains a fix, see the bug log on xorg bugzilla #615.

There is a workaround, though: loading matroxfb_base with modprobe (thus
switching to the framebuffer), but *not* using UseFBDev in xorg.conf gets
the 2nd head running.

Caveat: I only got clone mode, and then only with mouse pointer on one
screen. real dualhead has some bugs still. See xorg #12598
(https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12598) I'm not entirely
sure if that's a remnant of #4015 (xorg again) or completely unrelated, but
probably the latter.

cheers

The file /usr/lib/pkgconfig/pygobject-2.0.pc has this in it:
 Libs: -L${libdir} -lffi

 However, python-gobject-dev doesn't have a Depends on libffi4-dev
making other package that Build-Depend on python-gobject-dev fail
 to build.

Depends: python, python-gobject (= 2.14.0-2), python-dev, libglib2.0-dev (=
2.8.0), libffi-dev

What is exactly missing?

Or please patch it so that the code isn't duplicated for such bogus

Bug#444435: openssl: [CVE-2007-5135] Off-by-one error in the SSL_get_shared_ciphers()

2007-09-28 Thread Axel Beckert
Package: openssl
Version: 0.9.8c-4, 0.9.7e-3sarge4
Severity: critical
Tags: sarge, etch, security

According to http://nvd.nist.gov/nvd.cfm?cvename=CVE-2007-5135
(http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=CVE-2007-5135 is not
yet available):

Off-by-one error in the SSL_get_shared_ciphers function in OpenSSL
0.9.7l and 0.9.8d might allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary
code via a crafted packet that triggers a one-byte buffer underflow.

According to the German IT news magazin Heise Online, 0.9.7m and
0.9.8e are also affected:
http://www.heise.de/security/news/meldung/96710

Original source seems to be this Bugtraq posting:
http://www.securityfocus.com/archive/1/archive/1/480855/100/0/threaded

According to this posting, all lower versions are affected, too.

The release dates of 0.9.8e and 0.9.7m and the time line in the above
mentioned Bugtraq posting suggest that not only 0.9.7l and 0.9.8d but
also 0.9.7m and 0.9.8e are affected -- as Heise wrote.

Bug#444427: libpam-modules: pam_group: bad users matching

2007-09-28 Thread Matthieu CASTET

Package: libpam-modules
Version: 0.99.7.1-4
Severity: grave
Tags: security
Justification: user security hole

Hi,

this line should add the group floppy to the user us according to the
documentation.
group.conf :
xsh;tty*!ttyp*;us;Al-2400;floppy.

But this line give all the us* users the floppy group.

After looking at the source code, it seems the match is only done on the
length of the username in group.conf. So we only check the start of the
name.

The code for evaluating expression is used for other fields, and the same
bug could happen for the tty or service field.

Note the code for parsing entries is duplicated from pam_time (and may
be other

modules). They may be have the same issue

(note that pam_time are already a parsing bug #326407)

Bug#443824: libtrackerclient0: should be linked with -Bsymbolic

Le vendredi 28 septembre 2007 à 14:55 +0200, Michael Biebl a écrit :
This is why it is a good idea for *all* Pango and GTK+ plugins to be
linked with -Bsymbolic. This option guarantees that a function in
libtrackerclient that calls foo will obtain the function foo defined
  in libtrackerclient, nothing else.

There are also clients which directly link against libtrackerclient
(like nautilus or tracker-search-tool). Would this have a negative
 effect for them?

They wouldn't be able to override some functions in libtrackerclient,
but applications doing such things are rare, and I'm pretty sure none of
them does such things with libtrackerclient. And certainly not nautilus
and tracker-search-tool.

This means, if I even use one single function of the original
work, in an a GUI environment, which creates, say, a button to use in
the task bar (small button, think of the wm* packages -- wmweather et
al), I either make the button hugish, or I have to code in a splash
screen -- for every single button that uses any of the original
source. So, if a user has a dozen or so of these buttons in their
toolbar, they are faced with a dozen splash screens when they start
 their session.

This sounds like a significant reduction in freedom.

 I tried
   * ftp.debian.org
   * ftp.de.debian.org
   * debian.netcologne.de
   * sunsite.informatik.rwth-aachen.de

It seems to me the packages are listed in the Packages.bz2 file, but are
 not present on disk.
I even tried to install loop-aes-modules-2.6.18-4-486 on an
 etch-machine, but got a 404 Not Found-Error (as expected).

Thanks for reporting - this is an issue with the archive maintenance scripts
that affect all the files (independent of which mirror you use), so I'm
reassigning the bug report to the 'ftp.debian.org' pseudo-package
(which, perhaps confusingly, refers to those scripts :).

The same thing is already reported in bugs #443337 and #439084,
I'm merging the three reports.

util-vserver already suggests yum.

I'm a little unsure about creating the empty directory /etc/rpm. For one
its not really associated with the package. Secondly, you can get the
same results if you create /etc/vservers/vservername/rpmetc am I

Bug#438978: nspluginwrapper: does not work when running iceweasel on a remote machine

2007-09-28 Thread Stephane Aicardi
Hello,

I have the same problem in my installation and I found out a work around.
To avoid the _X11TransSocketINETConnect() can't get address for error, the
name of the remote X server (aries.logilab.fr in your example) needs to be in
your /etc/hosts file.

Obviously, nspluginwrapper doesn't use /etc/resolv.conf or libresolv to id the
IP address of your X server.

Hope this helps

I think you misunderstood my proposal. I don't want to apply your

Or maybe you're concerned about having to drop in the future support for
libcamlrun_shared.so, but I think the user impact of that new library

mod_caml-like projects will need it ...

That would also need to go upstream before Fedora could accept it.

Bug#429513: netdude packages in debian

2007-09-28 Thread Andreas Henriksson
Hello Everybody.

I'm just writing to let you know that I've spent some time trying to package
the latest upstream version of Netdude. My effort is available at:
http://fatal.se/pub/debian/netdude/
If anyone feel like helping out that would be great!
See the TODO file at the same place for issues I've already identified
(without even testing the package :P).
If anyone of you who talked about adopting it still want to do so I'd
happily prepare it for you and hand it over to you, since I'm not really that
interested.
Even if you don't have the time to do take on any bigger part in this right
now I'd deeply appreciate if you could find the time to test and/or review
the packages since I'm not very experienced when it comes to packaging
libraries.
I would also need to find a sponsor for this if anyone is willing to help out
there, but I don't know if the plan is to remove Gtk+ 1.x before the next
release and if I'll have time to port netdude to Gtk+ 2.x.

Bug#444445: mediawiki1.10: please create default upload directory 'images'

Hi,

the default upload directory in recent mediawiki versions is called
'images', while the package still installs a directory 'upload'. The
attached patch makes the change to the new name.

WRT upgrading from old versions, README.Debian already explains what to
do, and the old upload directory shouldn't be removed if it contains any
files.

Bug#42158: Shipping Clerk - flexible time work-at-home opening

2007-09-28 Thread Candy

Our company is looking for energetic and accountable individuals to occupy
Shipping Clerk positions throughout the USA. These vacancies are entirely
home-based and do not require any travel or relocation. They are also
suitable for students and senior citizens who are able to dedicate up to
three business hours per day to their duties. No special qualifications are
required, although previous shipping or customer service experience is a
plus. We are an international company providing mail/internet order
opportunities for a global clientele since 1997. We are based in Russia, and
also have offices in Latvia and Kazakhstan. Our business provides
online/Online Order facilities for those who are unable to benefit from the
convenience of e-commerce due to lack of a banking relationship with an
internationally recognized bank or because major online vendors will not
ship to their location. We have domestic purchasing agents who place the
orders on behalf of our clients, and the goods are then shipped to the local
shipping clerks for further sorting and international shipment. We also
provide escrow services for high amount and/or web auction orders, and offer
assistance with customs clearance, if required. Currently, we are looking
for individuals to fill in the positions of shipping clerks throughout the
USA. Your duties will include receiving, sorting, repackaging and re-sending
the orders made on behalf of our clients using the pre-paid USPS shipping
labels that you will receive via email. You will be paid $20 for each parcel
that you ship, plus $5 for each order that you will need to re-sort or
re-package. We will also cover any other authorized expense, such as extra
insurance or shipping materials. Your remuneration will be remitted to you
via Western Union twice a month. You can expect to handle 5-15 incoming
packages weekly, following a 2 week probation period. You can perform your
duties from the convenience of your home. You will generally be re-shipping
the orders on same day or next day basis, so you will not need to sacrifice
your home space to storage. You will only be receiving orders placed with
reputable online vendors and delivered by major courier services, such as
FedEx and UPS, who pay great attention to ensuring that they are not
involved into trafficking any illegal substances or hazardous materials.
Thus, there will be no risk on your end. We also encourage you to open and
inspect each package that you receive to ensure the legitimacy and safety of
itsâ content. In order to fill the shipping clerk position, you need to be
aged 18 and above, have a permanent address where you are available on a
regular basis and also have access to phone and email. In order to ensure
that you can be entrusted the client merchandise, we will need to verify
your identity and confirm that you do not have any previous criminal
convictions. To apply for this position and for more information on our
company, please fax your resume and (optionally) cover letter to: (309)

Bug#443824: libtrackerclient0: should be linked with -Bsymbolic

Ok then. I'll include the proposed changes in the next upload.

Thanks a lot for the detailed answers.

Cheers,
Michael

 util-vserver already suggests yum.
Good point

I'm a little unsure about creating the empty directory /etc/rpm. For one
its not really associated with the package. Secondly, you can get the
same results if you create /etc/vservers/vservername/rpmetc am I
 wrong?
I don't know; where can I read about rpmetc?

Bug#444442: ITP: mail-spf-perl -- Perl implementation of Sender Policy Framework and Sender ID

2007-09-28 Thread Julian Mehnle
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Julian Mehnle [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: mail-spf-perl
  Version : 2.005
Upstream Author : Julian Mehnle [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/dist/Mail-SPF/
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: Perl
Description : Perl implementation of Sender Policy Framework and Sender ID

Mail::SPF is an object-oriented Perl implementation of the Sender Policy
Framework (SPF) e-mail sender authentication system http://www.openspf.org.

It supports both the TXT and SPF RR types as well as both SPFv1 (v=spf1) and
Sender ID (spf2.0) records, and it is fully compliant to RFCs 4408 and 4406.
(It does not however implement the patented PRA address selection algorithm
described in RFC 4407.)

The source package would generate two binary packages: libmail-spf-perl
and spf-tools-perl, the latter of which would ship the executables
included with the Mail::SPF upstream package (currently spfquery and
spfd).

Yup, my mistake it seems. Can you patch that locally for the backport, ie
is it good enough for you if I correct it in my sources or do you need a new
package? This doesn't really affect testing or unstable (yet?) as we still
have tetex-extra so I can wait til the next upload with a more serious bug.

Hello!

Thanks for your bug report. Actually, I am already aware of this issue
and have fixed it locally. However, I do not think fixing this is
worth a new upload by itself, so that I will wait and include a fixed
desktop file in the package for the next upstream version (0.2.11,
which shoud be released very soon, around october 15th).

Thanks again,

with -lcamlrun I could end up maintaining it separately forever.

[I meant to say -lcamlrun_shared here]

I think you misunderstood my proposal. I don't want to apply your
initial fix which changes libcamlrun.a into libcamlrun.so. I want to add
a libcamlrun_shared.so, so there would be no ABI change, just the added
  possibility to link against it.

Or maybe you're concerned about having to drop in the future support for
libcamlrun_shared.so, but I think the user impact of that new library
would be quite low. In fact I don't think anything else that
mod_caml-like projects will need it ...

That would also need to go upstream before Fedora could accept it.

Why? I would have thought it is close to *policy* to provide
libraries for both static and dynamic link.

Bug#444412: Fixed UID and GID in the 60000-64999 range for slurm-llnl package

It usually works with one central manager which assigns jobs to all
 the execution hosts.

The SLURM central manager daemon doesn't need root privileges and
therefore I create a slurm user which is the owner of the process
 and of some directories.

The problem is that using a non privileged user only works if the user
has the same uid on all the node of the cluster, even if they are only
 execution hosts.
To ensure this I need that the SLURM user created on package
installation has the same uid on any system.

I have allocated uid/gid 64030 for slurm. This will be documented in
base-passwd 3.5.14, but you may begin using it without waiting for that.

Bug#444451: with-colons output does not include fpr for subkey-less keys

2007-09-28 Thread martin f krafft
Package: gnupg
Version: 1.4.6-2
Severity: minor
Tags: upstream

Hi James,

I found a bug in gnupg processing *your* key. The story seems to be
that key fingerprints of keys, where the pubkey is used for
encryption, are not printed to stdout --with-colons and in
--fast-list-mode.

Compare yours and Thijs' keys:

$ gpg --with-colons --fingerprint --list-keys troup thijs | grep '^fpr'
fpr:C2E35FF4B4EDC52285B42F3FDA7D51388917A9B0:

grep '^fpr'

This is surely minor and so far out in the corner that it might
never get fixed, but I report it nonetheless...

Bug#438067: KDE unsermake can't compile with that cups-config version

2007-09-28 Thread Tobias Koenig
Hi,

the --libs contains -g, -Wall and -O which prevents KDE's unsermake from
compiling the current KDE 3.5.

automake doesn't complain about the fact that the LIBS definition
contains LDFLAGS, but unsermake does!

So please increase the bug priority to high and get it fixed as soon
as possible.

Ciao,
Tobias

Good idea. I'll do that later.

Bug#443143: postrm fails if update-inetd not installed

 apt-get remove update-inetd
 apt-get remove biff

Thanks, but that doesn't work for me:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# apt-get remove update-inetd
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
The following packages will be REMOVED
at biff cvs exim4 exim4-base exim4-daemon-light ftp mailx mutt netbase
  nfs-common nis ntp openbsd-inetd pidentd telnet update-inetd

You see that it won't remove update-inetd without taking biff at the
same time.

Anyway, the problem appears to be the return code from [ falling
through to the end of the postrm script. I've added exit 0 to the end
which I believe will prevent this. I'm just about to upload the new
version.

thanks,
Dave
