Bug#468869: libmono-addins0.2-cil: Proper removal depends on cli-common 0.5.2 (at least)

2008-03-19 Thread Charles Plessy
Package: libmono-addins0.2-cil
Version: 0.3.1-3
Followup-For: Bug #468869

Dear maintainers,

When upgrading libmono-addins0.2-cil, I got the following error:

E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

It says that it can not remove
/var/lib/dpkg/info/libmono-addins0.2-cil.postinst because it did not find
/usr/share/cli-common/policy-remove. Indeed, this file is not in
cli-common-0.5.2. Therefore, I think that you have to depend on a higher
version to ensure smooth upgrades.

Have a nice day,

Bug#471588: aptitude: Please support a scroll margin around the cursor

2008-03-19 Thread Josh Triplett
Package: aptitude
Version: 0.4.10-1+b2
Severity: wishlist

Currently, aptitude only scrolls if moving down from the last line on
the screen or up from the first line on the screen. I'd like to see a
minimum scroll margin around the cursor, so I can see the subsequent
packages when scrolling down without having to scroll past where I
want the cursor and then scroll back. Among other things, this makes
it easier and faster to perform the same action on a number of
packages by scanning ahead visually. This would work by having the
screen scroll if moving down with fewer than $MARGIN lines below the
cursor, or moving up with fewer than $MARGIN lines above the cursor.

Please also consider having a default scroll margin other than zero.
I would suggest at least 4, preferably more. (Just a guess, as I
would have to try it to figure out what would work most comfortably.)

Bug#471590: please register tex docs with doc-base

2008-03-19 Thread Drew Parsons
Package: texlive-doc-en
Version: 2007-3
Severity: wishlist

Hi, there are a vast range of TeX documention provided by
texlive-doc-en and related packages.

It would be handy if some (if not all systematically) could be
registered with Debian's doc-base (not texlive-doc-base!) so that it's
easier to get at the docs using tools like dhelp.

Registering /usr/share/doc/texlive-doc-en/english/catalogue/index.html,
for example, would be a good start since it would provide access to docs
for all the TeX packages available.

More comprehensively, it would be good to create and register a top
level index page (e.g. /usr/share/doc/texlive-doc-en/english/index.html)
which contains links to all the other index.html pages provided by
texlive-doc-en.

I guess the equivalent should be done for the other texlive-doc-*
packages.

Thanks, Drew.

Yeah, if you can provide a backtrace or something like that...

In any case, the initial bug is solved with the new package, so if you

Bug#471279: dh-make-php: does not parse oci8 package correctly?

*** Please type your report below this line ***

 Hi,

I am trying to use this package to build oci-8.2.4, viz:
   # dh-make-pecl --only 5 oci8

This appears to download the tar file ok, but then it doesn't
extract any information in the eval_package() function.
For example the call to set the VERSION variable (set -x; set-v output):

xsltproc --nonet --novalid --param Element /package/release/version
 ${PREFIX}/share/dh-make-php/xslt/common.xsl package.xml
++ xsltproc --nonet --novalid --param Element /package/release/version
 /usr/share/dh-make-php/xslt/common.xsl package.xml
   + VERSION=

Could this be because the package.xml layout has changed?
I'm no expert with xml parsing.
That could be and newer versions of dh-make-pecl are much more
robust when reading the package.xml file. Actually, they don't
use xsltproc anymore but a php script which used the pear class
for reading package.xml files. That class should handle all
possible flavours.

I have a suggestion for the dh-make-pecl script; could it not check for
unset or blank variables before charging on and making a mess in the
working directory, with directories named 'php--' and so on?
I've attached a patch that does what I would like to see, perhaps it
needs expanding and/or applying to dh-make-pear.
Perhaps it would be better to do the test in eval_package and return
a failure if variables that should always have a value are blank?
Though I suspect that your problem is fixed with a newer version of
dh-make-pecl, it sounds like a good idea to do some more error handling.
I'll see if your patch still make sense for newer verions.

  Uwe

Bug#471594: incoherent depends

2008-03-19 Thread Andreas Barth
Package: freetennis
Version: 0.4.8-4
Severity: serious

Hi,

currently, freetennis has different dependencies depending on the
architecture:
e.g. mipsel: freetennis-common (= 0.4.8-4), ocaml-base-3.10.1
e.g. i386: freetennis-common (= 0.4.8-4), libatk1.0-0 (= 1.20.0), libc6
(= 2.7-1), libcairo2 (= 1.4.0), libgl1-mesa-glx | libgl1, libglib2.0-0
(= 2.12.0), libglu1-mesa | libglu1, libgtk2.0-0 (= 2.12.0),
libpango1.0-0 (= 1.18.4), libsdl-mixer1.2 (= 1.2.6), libsdl-ttf2.0-0,
libsdl1.2debian (= 1.2.10-1), libx11-6, libxext6, libxmu6

Any special reason for this? I'm reporting that as serious because
freetennis will be uninstallable on some architectures in testing soon,
and the correct solution to this depends on the answer to that question.

Cheers,
Andi

of 3.1 for a year after the release of the next version.

This assumes that the pride expressed comes from the volunteer nature of
security support. I agree that this is a likely meaning, considering various
interventions in #468765 and the debian-security thread.

Bug#471593: pathfinderd: Please add LSB formatted dependency info in init.d script

2008-03-19 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
Package: pathfinderd
Version: 0.2.3-1
Tags: patch
User: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Usertags: missing-dependency

To be able to check boot script order, and also to be able to start
boot scripts in parallel, it is important to know the dependencies of
the various boot scripts. The Linux Software Base specifies a init.d
header file format useful for this purpose, and adding such header to
the init.d script would make it possible for me to use this
information to check the current sequence and to speed up the debian
boot.

I am working on a system to update the boot sequence based on these
dependencies, and would like see this as the default in Lenny.
Because of this, it is nice if the dependencies was updated quickly.

URL:http://refspecs.freestandards.org/LSB_2.1.0/LSB-generic/LSB-generic/initscrcomconv.html
documents the LSB header format. Some debian notes are available from
URL:http://wiki.debian.org/LSBInitScripts.

Here is a patch to document the dependencies. I hope this is correct.

As the stop script do not seem to do anything except killing the

runlevel 0 and 6. If this is indeed the case, I recommend removing 0

Bug#471587: Patch more

2008-03-19 Thread Ted Percival

I like patches, even for trivial bugs. This one is no different.

I'm also providing one that makes the Homepage a real dpkg field rather
than being part of the description.

If you're feeling really adventurous, there is a new upstream version

Bug#471594: incoherent depends

2008-03-19 Thread Julien Cristau
found 471594 0.4.8-3
kthxbye

On Wed, Mar 19, 2008 at 07:41:44 +0100, Andreas Barth wrote:

 libsdl1.2debian (= 1.2.10-1), libx11-6, libxext6, libxmu6

Any special reason for this? I'm reporting that as serious because
freetennis will be uninstallable on some architectures in testing soon,
and the correct solution to this depends on the answer to that question.

on architectures with a native ocaml compiler, freetennis is an elf
binary, so dpkg-shlibdeps fills in the Depends field.
on other architectures, freetennis is a bytecode executable run by
/usr/bin/ocamlrun, which dlopens the needed libraries; freetennis should
thus depend on libcamlimages-ocaml, liblablgl-ocaml, liblablgtk2-ocaml
and libsdl-ocaml on those architectures. another option would be to
link with ocamlc -custom, which will embed ocamlrun in the binary and
produce an elf executable (but then you have to be careful about
dh_strip).

Cheers,
Julien

Bug#471523: console-data: use keymap codes instead of keymap names for choices

2008-03-19 Thread Christian Perrier
Quoting Frans Pop ([EMAIL PROTECTED]):

Additional suggested changes for the en.po file:
 - de-latin1-nodeadkeys: add (no dead keys) for consistency with the mac
   variant (mac-usb-de-latin1-nodeadkeys)
 - mac-us-std, mac-us-ext, mac-de2-ext, mac-fr2-ext, mac-fr3: remove Mac;
from the descriptions as other Mac keyboards don't have them either

ACK'ed

I also suggest we replace U.S. English by American English for
consistency.

I'm not fond (indeed, I hate) of the US of A calling themselves
America but when it comes along with English I think that using
the American adjective is not that untrue and indeed very common
practice.

I personnally don't really like US which implies that USA are the
only United States in the world.

Do all this affect your proposed patch (which I haven't looked at yet)?

CC'ing you as I don't know if you subscribed to the PTS.

Two remarks, Ivan, for your future bug reports:

- making the maintainer's job as easy as possible is appreciated. So,
indeed, sending your file as sk.po would save them a few
microseconds. That sounds nitpicking, but just imagine a maintainer
who has to remains dozen of files when (s)he sends a call for
translation updates..:-)

- you might want to use DEBEMAIL and DEBFULLNAME (I suggest setting

people know that Ivan Masár sent that nice translation update...and

The umlaut/Skandinavian keys on my Finnish keboard do not respond at all.
Alt-Gr key combinations such as the tilde and the at sign do not work.

After a while, ten minutes, an hour at most, the alt key appears to get stuck,
since mouse clicks respond as if it were pressed (lower/move window in Evilwm)
and all other modifiers stop working - can't save files with Ctrl-S or close
with any other combination. But Ctrl-Alt-Backspace still kills X and a restart
with startx 'fixes' the modifiers, but not the umlauts for a while.

Oh, and the Ctrl-Alt-Fx console change referred to in #465653 also doesn't
work, but my LEDs are fine. Hope this helps at all.

Bug#471581: git-buildpackage: clean command is run in the non-exported directory when using --git-export-dir

2008-03-19 Thread Guido Günther
Version: 0.4.20

 when I run git-buildpackage --git-export-dir=../build-area/
I expect git-buildpackge to export the source tree to the build-area and
run the clean command in the exported directory.
Atm this isn't the case, it runs clean in the working copy and then does
 the export.
This is quiet on purpose since we want to make sure the working copy is
clean - the export will be anyways (or once we export the index or the
full wc doesn't have to be).
Cheers,

Indeed, I think it is

On the other hand s2both has a -f option which seems to be
 -f config_file. This is inconsistent with s2ram.

That is true, this is because s2both inherets funtionality from
s2ram and s2disk.. We have decided to make the long command-line options
consitent and depricate the short ones. IIRC the -f is from configfile.

In addition, there seems to be no way for s2both to pass quirks to
 s2ram (as -f $quirks does for s2ram).
That means, for a successful s2both, the machine must be whitelisted.
Passing the options (from HAL) doesn't work for s2both.

Bug#471598: SBCL can't find CLC package

2008-03-19 Thread Ken Harris
Package: sbcl
Version: 1:1.0.15.0-1

SBCL doesn't have the CLC package available (shouldn't it,
automatically?), but I suspect this is a symptom of bigger problems.

The most visible place I see this is SLIME. If I try to start SLIME
(with inferior-lisp-program = sbcl), I get:

(progn (load /usr/share/common-lisp/source/slime/swank-loader.lisp

This is SBCL 1.0.15.debian, an implementation of ANSI Common Lisp.
More information about SBCL is available at http://www.sbcl.org/.

SBCL is free software, provided as is, with absolutely no warranty.
It is mostly in the public domain; some portions are provided under

For comparison, if I set inferior-lisp-program to clisp, it starts
just fine. If I start up CLISP, the CLC package is available right
away.

The weird install seen in bug #471147 occurred here, too. It almost
seems like SBCL isn't getting installed at all, and it's just dumb
luck that anything at all works -- but I don't understand Lisp on
Debian well enough to even know what to look for.

That sounds more promising to me.

If we do this and retain the existing maintainer scripts then
everything will be fine *except* that while (say) nvi is unpacked but
not configured, the system will mysteriously use vim (say) instead.

It's still way better than having no editor.

Perhaps more thought is actually needed. I really don't like the idea
of asking maintainers to switch on $1. That always goes wrong. But
we could ask them to pass their $1 to u-a ?

debhelper postinst snippets tend to check $1 for most operation, I don't
see a big problem in mandating their usage.

Another solution is to define the alternatives in some debhelper
configuration file (debian/package.alternatives) and let debhelper create
the right postrm/postint snippet.

Hmm, you do realise that lcd4linux is mentioned in P-a-s because it
includes sys/io.h, right? So this is not similar at all...

Oh, this is indeed news to me. Well, if this was communicated to me, I
would have looked in adding some #ifdefs to the source so that this
wouldn't be an issue on itanium.

Can lcd4linux be pushed to testing despite of the 'missing' ia64 build
 please, then?

Why don't you add those #ifdefs, upload it, and talk to the P-a-s
maintainers to build it on ia64 again?

Given the history of events, it seems that no ia64 user is interested in
lcd4linux.

Anyway, I'll keep this issue im mind when I prepare the next lcd4linux
upload.

I do not see the message when the callerid is longer like '1234567890'.

Bug#471600: capiutils: capifax treats successful CAPI return codes as error

2008-03-19 Thread Christoph Scheurer
Package: capiutils
Version: 1:3.9.20060704-3
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hello,

at least with a FritzCard PCI on the Deutsche Telekom network my standard
response from 'capifax -v' for a sucessful delivery is:

Disconnected.
  Reason: 3400 No additional information
  Reason-B3 : No additional information

According to
http://www.capisuite.de/manual/apb.html
also the CAPI 2.0 codes 3400 and 3480 signal a normal termination of the
connection while they are treated as errors in capifax. Only 3490 and 349F are
treated as success in capifax.c and the detailed descriptions of 3400 and 3480
are missing in c20msg.c .

Regarding the 3400 status code some more information is given on
http://help.netop.com/support/communication/isdn/capi_error_codes.htm
where it says:
34xx Abort by network, low order 8 Bit contain the cause value, the MSB
is used to signal an error, but is not set by all ISDN-CAPI 2.0
implementations

Additionally, 3400 was the code for Normal termination from the network in
CAPI 1.1 (german ISDN 1TR6) which might be the reason that it is still used.

The attached patch fixes these problems.

It would be nice if the default Debian package could include this fix as well
as the patch from #354830 .

Bug#471601: qpxtool: FTBFS related to qmake

2008-03-19 Thread Vincent Crevot
Package: qpxtool
Version: 0.6.1-3.1~local0
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

When trying to build a local package with the patch from #463886 applied (which
works for me too btw), I had two problems.

First, qmake is called, which is an alternative and points to qmake-qt4
on my system. It seems that qmake-qt3 should be called explicitely here.

Second, 03-0.6.1.1.dpatch changes qpxtool-gui/Makefile.qmake. Since the build
system recreates that file with qmake afterwards, the patch may not unapply
cleanly (and did not in my case).

The included patch fixes those two issues.

Cheers.

Bug#471602: Missing manual pages

2008-03-19 Thread Damyan Ivanov
Package: pssh
Version: 1.3.1-5
Severity: normal

Cut from Policy §12.1:
Each program, utility, and function should have an associated manual
page included in the same package. It is suggested that all
configuration files also have a manual page included as well. Manual
pages for protocols and other auxiliary things are optional.

If no manual page is available, this is considered as a bug and should
be reported to the Debian Bug Tracking System (the maintainer of the
package is allowed to write this bug report themselves, if they so
desire). Do not close the bug report until a proper man page is
  available.

Thanks,

So I think the above thing could work, we just need to wait for it to
actually crash while being run from the terminal.

It crashed, I didnt get any core file.

What kind of network setup do you have? Do you usually enable /
disable network interfaces during runtime? Do you plug in any PCMCIA
network cards or something while your system is running? Can you do
send me the output of /sbin/ifconfig?

I use an ethernet link without.
Hotplug devices are USB keys, scanner, ...

But I get the problem without having doing anything like that.

Mostly the problem occuts during high CPU load / high memory usage or
when I place the cursor over the icon.

The livebox interface is a renamed interface for ethX, setup to have
a consistant numbering of the interfaces.

I use a nameif instruction in pre-up for the interface in /etc/network/
interfaces:

The reason I'm asking is that the network interface detection code is
what's changed between 2.0.7 and 2.0.9, so I'm wondering if the crash
could be related to that somehow.

But getting a core file would still be the best thing!

Seems to be difficult...

Bug#471605: libfontconfig1: since upgrade digits are displayed in a mix of serif/sans

2008-03-19 Thread Norbert Preining
Package: libfontconfig1
Version: 2.5.0-2
Severity: normal

I am not sure where to file this bug, but I had some upgrade orgy
recently (after being away for 3 weeks) and now browser displays
rubbish. The digits are somehow strange. I have selected serif fonts as
default and the page freshmeat.net overrides this with sans serif (I
suppose). But at the end I get a mixture of sans and serif fonts for the
digits
2 and 8 are displayed correctly as sans serif font
0,1,3,4,5,6,7,9 are displayed in a serif font

I attach a screen shot

Thanks and all the best

Norbert

Bug#471641: Needs to use fckeditor

2008-03-19 Thread Frank Habermann

Package: egroupware-core
Severity: serious

Your package includes a copy of FCKEditor, which also is packaged as
fckeditor in the archive. You need to fix your package
to use the system-wide editor. Otherwise it requires too much overhead
whenever a vulnerability in FCKEditor is found.

Bug#471601: qpxtool: FTBFS related to qmake

2008-03-19 Thread Fathi BOUDRA
Hi,

First, qmake is called, which is an alternative and points to qmake-qt4
on my system. It seems that qmake-qt3 should be called explicitely here.

I would replace should by could in your sentence. We build packages inside
clean chroot using pbuilder or on build daemon. At this point, only on Qt
version
is installed. If you decide to build your local package on a non-clean
environment,
you'll face issue like this one. You could update the alternative
(update-alternatives).
Many packages in the archive call qmake without appending Qt version
explicitely.

Second, 03-0.6.1.1.dpatch changes qpxtool-gui/Makefile.qmake. Since the build
system recreates that file with qmake afterwards, the patch may not unapply
cleanly (and did not in my case).

The proper fix must be to fix the qproject target in qpxtool-gui/Makefile file.

my 2cts.

cheers,

Fathi

Bug#471504: util-linux: MAX_HEADS in cfdisk to small

2008-03-19 Thread Rudy Gevaert

Hello,

LaMont Jones wrote:

I suppose it's possible that fdisk could clamp heads at 255 in passing
the geometry down, but the real solution is to allow more heads in the
geometry ioctl.

fdisk also happily accepts my larger value when I re-enter
cylinder/head/track information.

(To sketch my setup:)

I'm using an iscsi LUN on a netapp filer in a Xen virtual domain.
On the xen-dom0 I have the iscsi lun available and pass it to my Xen
virtual domain.

sfdisk also has problems reading out my geometry. I reports nothing.

I'll kick it around upstream some.

Bug#471598: More info

My libc(s):

ii libc62.7-9
GNU C Library: Shared libraries
ii libc6-i386 2.7-9
GNU C Library: 32bit shared libraries for AM

OK, it looks like all three of the SBCL is horribly borken bugs
(471598, 471147, 469015) are caused by a longstanding kernel bug
exposed by gcc-4.3, which libc6 started using as of 2.7-9.
(Coincidentally, this was front page news on slashdot today.)

Discussion of the issue:
http://lhealy.livejournal.com/9795.html

Root bug in Debian (I think):
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=469058

It looks like 2.6.25 will fix this, and we might have a backport to
2.6.24 even (though it's a critical bug and the patch was posted
almost 2 weeks ago and there's been no apparent action since).

I've upgraded from the official 2.0.4, now trying to open a particular .sdc
OOo2 opens immediately the file crash/recovery window, but the file list is

if you don't want that you can send me the file and I'll give him any
info he needs without providing the file..)

This is Debian-specific, the stock 2.3.1 (installed via official tar(.rpm) -
alien - .deb) does not show this problem. Likewise OOo1.1.5.

And the 2.4 packages from unstable?

Bug#471352: openoffice.org: if cupsd is installed/active, custom printers are wiped out and 'add printer' is disabled

2008-03-19 Thread Rene Engelhard
found 471352 1:2.3.1-2

Hi,

Paolo wrote:
 Package: openoffice.org
 Version: 1:2.3.1-2~bpo40+1

bpo is not in the scope of this BTS.

Due to a (Canon) driver needs, I had to switch lprng - cups.
OOo2 automatically sees the avai printers, but forgets all the available
'printers' already configured. Also, spadmin now offers only the possibility
to add either a fax or a pdf converter.
This is both bad and wrong:

bad) since all user's (config/setup/customization) work is wiped away!!
wrong) since 'printer' is a generic output device/queue which not necessarily
is available via cups (eg filters that popup gui to hylafax)!

Now I've re-setup the hylafax 'printer', which is listed as a PDF filter
instead of a fax (which would insist on asking for the fax# while that's
the purpose of the filter/gui) or the usual generic 'printer' icon.

Hope OOo is not going to try to become as too-smart as mozilla does ...

This is intended behaviour and won't be changed upstream. If CUPS is
there it's used (which *IS* correct, if you use CUPS you should add your
printers in CUPS. It does not make sense to bypass your standard print
system...)

Rene

Ah, yes, I keep forgetting that the rules have changed and that not
all should/must clauses of the Debian policy warrant serious severity

The RC policy for lenny is mum on /bin/sh scripts; so in a way, it is
up to the release managers.

The point is becoming moot anyway, I'm fixing the bug now.

Bug#471645: Uses obsolete blacklist

2008-03-19 Thread Frank Lichtenheld
Package: policyd-weight
Version: 0.1.14-beta-6
Severity: important
Tags: etch

policyd-weight in the default configuration in stable uses
dynablock.njabl.org which is non-functional. This is fixed
in the version in testing, but I would suggest to fix it
in stable, too (or volatile, perhaps?)

The error indicator in the syslog is somewhat annyoing
(especially since ERR matches one of logcheck's violation
criterias). Also it is an unneccessary DNS lookup that could
be saved.

Feel free to close this bug if you think this doesn't need to
be fixed in stable and people that are annoyed by it should
create a config file instead.

Gruesse,
Frank Lichtenheld

Dear maintainers,

When upgrading libmono-addins0.2-cil, I got the following error:

It says that it can not remove
/var/lib/dpkg/info/libmono-addins0.2-cil.postinst because it did not find
/usr/share/cli-common/policy-remove. Indeed, this file is not in
cli-common-0.5.2. Therefore, I think that you have to depend on a higher
version to ensure smooth upgrades.

Have a nice day,

Hi,

I guess you can get access to the logs, but you need to ask DSA, not me. Best
you open a ticket at rt.debian.org - for more info see the d-d-a archive.

Also the bug has been fixed/worked around in 1.43, which is in unstable, so
you should see some more submissions now already compared to before the fix -

Bug#462268: i dont understand this...

2008-03-19 Thread Holger Levsen
Hi Bill,

the DOS issue is been going on since 4 months or so, actually #440493 has been
filed in September 2007, so make this 6. And because I havent replied to a
question I cant answer you think it's temporarily?? If I dont reply, why
don't you ask again, like Petter did yesterday?

Also, I dont understand how keeping 1.43 out of testing helps to address this
issue in a better way. Quite the opposite, if 1.43 would be in testing (which
has a workaround) and 1.41 (which has the bug) in stable, you could try other
approaches easily in unstable?!

Can you please close this bug, so that the release team has one bug less to
worry about?

regards,
Holger
