  Hello,
the original bug is still present. To complete the upgrade I had to
change the XkbLayout to us (file /etc/default/console-setup).

Do you mean that version 1.47 spans 1000 grep, sed, sort processes?
This was the bug I believe was fixed. Or something different happens
 this time?  Can you send your /etc/default/{keyboard,console-setup}
files so I can make tests.

Upgrade to version 1.47 spans many processes. I can't reproduce this
behaviour by reinstallation of the console-setup. The behaviour might be
changed after installation of the keyboard-configuration package.
I attach the /etc/default/console-setup (screwed by
keyboard-configuration) and the keyboard definition file
/usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/sk_tz.

Bug#556595: Re: [Pkg-virtualbox-devel] Bug#556595: virtualbox-ose-source: missing dependency on kbuild

No, kbuild is already suggested, but because there are other ways to build the

Why is dkms the preferred way? It integrates the modules into the system
much uncleaner than the old-fashioned ways that build .debs and then
proceed to install them. And it doesn't allow to separate building
and running on two different systems.

Bug#511250: Here is the fix for this bus

To fix this bug, you have to modify the 05_handle-short-read.dpatch
patch, in this way:

The THREE istance of (row number 58, 94, 133 of the
05_handle-short-read.dpatch file):

+  num_bytes += bytes_read;

Should be modified in:

+  if (bytes_read0) num_bytes += bytes_read;

Because when read returns error, this should not influence the number
of bytes already read.

AND

The THREE istance of (row number 60, 96, 135 of the
05_handle-short-read.dpatch file):

+  while ((bytes_read  0 || errno == EINTR) [...]

Should be modified in:

+  while ((bytes_read  0 || (bytes_read==-1  errno == EINTR)) [...]

Because errno is only valid when read returns -1, errno is not set if
there are no errors from the read; so if read gets interrupted by an
EINTR, then when read reaches end-of-file, read will return 0
with errno still set to EINTR, and the loop become an infinite loop.

Please someone upstream the fix and inform the author of the patch,
thanks!

Sandro

Thank you Sandro for the fix.

Marcus and Artur, could you please test Sandro's fix for this bug?

Cheers!

Bug#557061: Please update the mkfs.vfat runtime output and manpage to talk more about bootability

2009-11-19 Thread Jason A. Spiro
Package: dosfstools
Severity: wishlist

Daniel, thanks for maintaining dosfstools. They are very useful. But
as mkfs.vfat mentions in its manpage, the partitions it creates aren't
always bootable. This took me a long time, and a lot of frustration,
to realize, because I didn't read the manpage before I used the tool.

Could you please make some changes to help other hurried users like me? :)

1. Could you please mention in the manpage that the partitions still
won't be bootable even when you install a Microsoft boot sector on
them?

2. Could you please suggest in the manpage that the command ms-sys
-p can fix this for people who have already run mkfs.vfat then filled
up the resulting partition with important data?

3. Could you please suggest to users some alternative to mkfs.vfat
that will always create bootable disks in the first place?

4. And most importantly, when users run mkfs.vfat, could you please
display a short message on the screen telling users that the
partitions mkfs.vfat creates are not bootable, even when you later
install Microsoft boot sectors, and telling users to see the manpage
for details?

Kind regards,
-Jason

No, not yet.

It still has the problem that reading the value(s) bytewise returns garbage

1.0-9 is an empty transitional package for the transition to the
edos-distcheck package. Bug reassigned accordingly.

this option is indeed no longer supported. Will fix the manpage.

(yeah, I also intentionally highlighted the '$Revision$' part which was not
 substituted)

not in he latest version provided by the edos-distcheck/1.4.2-5.

No, conversion stopped, and evolution terminating with debug output

I solve problem by removing ~/.evolution directory, but I lost all

Bug#557065: [PATCH git-core] Update copyright file

2009-11-19 Thread Jonathan Nieder
Package: git-core
Version: 1:1.6.5.3-1
Severity: minor

Hi,

I continue to be amazed by how quickly you manage to put out updated
packages (same day as upstream). git makes this sort of thing easier,
I guess.

Anyway, while peeking at the release notes, I noticed the copyright
file still mentions the now-removed mozilla-sha1, hence this patch.

-- % --
Subject: Update copyright file
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit

The Mozilla SHA-1 implementation has been replaced with block-sha1,
so it no longer needs its own section in debian/copyright.

While we’re at it, update copyright dates to include the year 2009
and match upstream.

2009-11-19 Thread Michal Suchanek
Package: openjdk-6-jre

I get this error:

Exception in thread main java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: Can't load

It looks like the motif plugin is not built in openjdk but it attempts
to load it nonetheless. As the default GUI plugin is badly broken with
most sane window managers this makes Java GUI applications useless.

Maybe the Severity is to low rated as that is a security bug!

The IPv6 support is not compiled as module than fix in the kernel. So
there is no way to switch IPv6 off.
 [...]

This is not true. You can add ipv6.disable=1 to the command line.

Ok, then there is a workaround, thanks.

But the bug is not solved as there is no reason to compile ipv6
integrated in the kernel. More over the ipv6.disable is not documented.
man bootparam do not show it, grep -ri ipv6
/usr/src/linux-*/Documentation give no hint and I did not found it
anywhere. I also did try grep -r module_param_named /usr/src/linux/net
but it is not found that way too. On the other hand, if ipv6 is compiled
as module it is pretty easy to switch it off.

Sorry, I experienced the same bug this your for one day (24th to 25th
October, so on the 25th October). Probably my wording was not right in
my previous message but the bug only vanished after one day. So there is
still something fishy.

I downgrade the severity to normal, because the bug only lasts for one

Bug#533888: ddclient: diff for NMU version 3.8.0-6.1

2009-11-19 Thread Stefano Zacchiroli
tags 533888 + pending
thanks

Dear maintainer,

I've prepared an NMU for ddclient (versioned as 3.8.0-6.1) and uploaded
it to DELAYED/8, according to devref §5.11.1 (actually, I've delayed it
more than needed, given that you have recently commented on this bug
log). Feel free to overwrite the NMU with a proper upload integrating
the patch (which is the one posted to this bug log and on which there
was consensus).

Hope this helps,
Cheers.

This bug is in the same situation of #553109: it does ship *.so under
/usr/lib/, but those *.so are only used by the Tcl interpreter to load C
code stubs binding a C library to Tcl.

It is in theory possible for users to link against it (actually,
maintainer claims it is not, [probably, my bet, due to some missing
symbols which are available only inside the Tcl interpreter]: see the
lintian overrides in the package, I haven't actually checked which is
the case). Still it should not be the rule.

So, once more, we can fix this with proper ldconfig invocation in
postinst or we can move those *.so in a different place. The former
solution is likely to require a change in the Tcl interpreter to look
for objects elsewhere.

Manoj: what is the -policy stance on this? Should we fix that by
actually invoking ldconfig no matter what? If this is the case, I attach
a patch offering an NMU in that direction. Please Cc me if you want me
to actually do the NMU (otherwise I'll eventually get back to this bug
log, maybe ...).

Cheers.

Bug#553125: vdkxdb2: diff for NMU version 2.4.0-3.1

2009-11-19 Thread Stefano Zacchiroli
tags 553125 + patch pending
thanks

Dear maintainer,

I've prepared an NMU for vdkxdb2 (versioned as 2.4.0-3.1) and uploaded
it to DELAYED/3, according to devref §5.11.1. The patch, which you can
find attached, fixes the invocation order of some dh_* scripts, in
particular it moves dh_installdeb past dh_makeshlibs, so that the
ldconfig postinst snippet generated by the latter is actually installed
in the resulting .deb.

Cheers.

Possible solutions are to have the two packages conflict

I've added a conflict with grc to gnuradio-companion. I don't
anticipate much overlap of interest between the two packages so this
seems like the simplest solution.

CC'ing gnuradio upstream in case it might make sense to rename
the /usr/bin/grc binary to something that won't conflict with binaries
delivered by the grc package in a future release.

Bug#557065: [PATCH/FYI git-core] Fill out copyright file

2009-11-19 Thread Jonathan Nieder
I was curious about what other licenses git uses, so I did a
quick scan for copyright headers. The outcome is here in the
form of a patch, but please do not be misled: I hope you do not
apply this.

All of git is available under the GPLv2, but some portions from
other projects have more permissive licenses. This patch
documents them.

The good:
 * It’s probably worth being explicit about debian/* being GPL-2.

The bad:
 * This makes it harder to read the copyright file from beginning
to end, yet does not reveal any new permissions that would be
   useful to anyone.

 * Including these changes would create an implicit promise to
keep documenting the copyright with this level of detail.
   That would be insane.

So this is mostly for amusement value. If you are not amused,
sorry. :)

Bug#556914: [iceweasel] after closing, iceweasel process remains active and using 90% CPU

2009-11-19 Thread Mike Hommey
reassign 556914 kdebase-runtime

Thanks.

So here is what seems to be happening: the oxygen kde plugin has a
destructor function that does some cleanup, during which it needs to
send some requests to the X server to free pixmaps. Except that by the
time you reach there, the connection to the X server is long gone. So
the poll() call returns an error and is retried indefinitely.

It seems to me the problem lies in the oxygen plugin, which shouldn't
be doing this, but it could also very well be lower in the stack.

It could be interesting to see what exactly is retrying to poll()
indefinitely, because that could be a separate bug, too.

I'll leave the rest of the investigation up to the kdebase-runtime
maintainer(s) (that is the package holding the oxygen plugin), but I'm
staying subscribed to this bug out of curiosity (and if help is needed,
I'm here, too ;) ).

OK, then, what's the last real version of gqview, so I can reinstall the
package and get rid of this piece of junk, and pin it in my apt preferences?

It does very irritating things with its windows, and it has already
managed to delete a lot of my .desktop files.

What irritating things with windows? Where did it delete .desktop
files? Including useful information in bug report is usually better
than just ranting.

If I wanted to install geeqie, I'd done an apt-get install geeqie

It was a very rude surprise to have one of my most-used programs be
magically changed to a different program by an update.

The transition was decision of former gqview maintainer and nobody
else wanted to step up to maintain gqview. Mostly because there is
nothing better in gqview. If you are willing to maintain it and fix
bugs in it, feel free to do so and I will remove the transitional
package from geeqie.

Exception in thread main java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: Can't load

It looks like the motif plugin is not built in openjdk but it attempts
to load it nonetheless. As the default GUI plugin is badly broken with
most sane window managers this makes Java GUI applications useless.

Most window managers? Is this something new or the old problem with
non-reparentizing window managers (which contain some of the best window
managers in my personal opinion, but hardly most window managers)?

In the latter case, try setting the _JAVA_AWT_WM_NONREPARENTING
environment variable. That should be a better way to work around the
problem than switching to MToolkit.

(P.S: The analog bug report for sun-java6 is http://bugs.debian.org/504524)

Apparently the test whether the package is being newly installed or upgraded
 is broken.

No, it is intentional. You guys need to make a decision on what you want. You
basically have two options:

  - Preseed a correct answer to grub-pc's question. Then future upgrades of
grub-pc will become effective instead of the crap we have now, in which
users report us critical bugs for code in /boot/grub/ that just happens to
be out of sync with the package.

  - Let grub-pc ask its question and run grub-install by itself. Basically
same as before, but with the advantage of using the same codepaths and
providing a more consistent interface between install upgrade.

Could you be more precise with the versions? glibc in testing and
  unstable have the same version.

sorry, no. it probably was -5, but I'm not sure.

I have been able to reproduce the problem here, it seems to be due to
the way crt*.o files are stripped. I have lost the .deb of -5, so I need
to do a rebuild of eglibc for more investigation.

It is due to the use of --strip-unneeded when stripping .o objects. This
will be fixed in the next upload of eglibc.

Bug#557072: serendipity: package installation reports a ucf/debconf error

2009-11-19 Thread Todd A. Jacobs
Package: serendipity
Version: 1.3.1-1
Severity: normal

During package installation, the following error is observed:

dbconfig-common: writing config to /etc/dbconfig-common/serendipity.conf

*** WARNING: ucf was run from a maintainer script that uses debconf, but
the script did not pass --debconf-ok to ucf. The maintainer
script should be fixed to not stop debconf before calling ucf,
and pass it this parameter. For now, ucf will revert to using
 old-style, non-debconf prompting. Ugh!

Please inform the package maintainer about this problem.

The installation did not abort, so it's unclear what impact this error
has. However, it is clearly not intended behavior.

Bug#556914: [iceweasel] after closing, iceweasel process remains active and using 90% CPU

2009-11-19 Thread Slobodan Simic
I think I found what the problem was...
I changed in KDE settings that GTK apps don't use KDE theme and colors.
After that I tried Iceweasel several times and never had CPU jam at 100% after
closing the Iceweasel's window
So I think problem is not with Iceweasel but coexistence with KDE
desktop environment.

Bug#557080: O: zope-formulator -- tool to create and validate web forms in zope

2009-11-19 Thread Andreas Tille
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the zope-formulator package.

The package description is:
Formulator helps you (and/or other zope products) create and validate
web forms. Form fields are stored as objects in Zope, in a special
 Form folder.
 .
It takes care of the rendering of the fields in the form, as well as
the validation and processing of the data that is submitted; it does
 not do form layout itself.

Remark: While the package is in principle group maintained by
Debian/Ubuntu Zope Team pkg-zope-develop...@lists.alioth.debian.org
I was the driving force to have it in Debian. I personally
stopped using it and it most probably does not work any
more with current zope2.x packages. So rather a removal
of the package seems apropriate and in fact I will ask for
removal in case nobody will step in in the next couple of
weeks.

Bug#557082: fai-nfsroot: does not handle mount failures

2009-11-19 Thread Stefan Götz
Package: fai-nfsroot
Severity: normal

In the course of the task 'mountdisks', mount is called without checking the
result. Thus the installation continues if target file systems
fail to mount. In particular, with a failed mount of /target, FAI happily
installs the target system in the RAM disk.

Bug#557083: bacula-director-mysql: Updates Script older Databases missing

2009-11-19 Thread Christian Unger
Package: bacula-director-mysql
Version: 3.0.2-3+b1
Severity: normal

We upgraded from an older Version 2.xx to 3.0.2-3+b1 in one Run
Database was from 8 to 11.
We could get the scripts from the official website git repository but
maybe someone else runs into the same problem.
Needed:
update_mysql_tables_8_to_9
update_mysql_tables_9_to_10
before the included update else there were missing volumes.
Maybe a notice or a check in the update Script would be helpfull to
others (can't update version is 8. need 10 .. or something)

Bug#557085: apt-transport-https: uses http config rather than https

2009-11-19 Thread Adrian Bridgett
Package: apt-transport-https
Version: 0.7.24

Using apt-cacher-ng I'd like to use a proxy for all repositories
except for https (which apt-cacher-ng does not support):

Acquire::http::Proxy http://192.168.100.4:3142;;
Acquire::https::Proxy DIRECT;
Acquire::https::Proxy::example.com DIRECT;

However this doesn't work - seems to bypass the proxy, but then try
proxying direct:

~$ sudo apt-get update

Unsetting the Acquire::http::Proxy line or adding
Acquire::http:Proxy::example.com DIRECT works, however this then turns
proxying for http too :-(

Bug#556913: Crashes when writing XMP tags

2009-11-19 Thread Michal Čihař
Hi

Dne Wed, 18 Nov 2009 18:06:36 +0100
Joachim Breitner nome...@debian.org napsal(a):

All I did was opening a directory with the attached file in it and
 trying to set a tag.

Interesting fact: Doing the same with an image without XMP (?) metadata
works. The attached image was geo-tagged with gpscorrelate-gui, maybe
this gives some clue as to what is wrong. Maybe gpscorrelat-gui writes
wrong metadata, but even then geeqie must not crash.

Thanks, now I can reproduce it locally. Forwarded to upstream:

Bug#557086: texlive-base: change version for the depence on luatex to (=0.44)

2009-11-19 Thread Cédric Boutillier
Package: texlive-base
Version: 2009-1
Severity: normal

Hi!

When upgrading from texlive2007 to texlive2009, dpkg complains that
texlive-base 2009-1 tries to overwrite /urs/bin/dviluatex, that is provided
by luatex 0.40.6-1+b1 in sid at the moment.

This file is not provided anymore by the luatex version in experimental
(0.44.0-2). So forcing the upgrade to that version of luatex when
installing/upgrading texlive-base would help solving this issue.

Best regards,

Cédric

Bug#522138: ITP: gears -- Gears (formally Google Gears)

2009-11-19 Thread Stefano Zacchiroli
Hi Fabian, ping on this ITP.

I've recently noticed that the Gears package is available in Ubuntu, at
least in Karmic [1], an announcement/heads up about it has been recently
posted to Planet Ubuntu [2]. As an annoyed amd64 user which still has
no Gears, I'd really like to see the package arriving in Debian too.

Are you still working on the packaging?
Do you need help?
Any reason not to join efforts with Ubuntu people?

If you are no longer interested in packaging it please let us know, so
that someone else can step in and finally package it.

TIA,
Cheers.

Bug#379166: closed by Peter S Galbraith p...@debian.org (Re: Bug#379166: imgsizer: man page has broken markup)

2009-11-19 Thread Reuben Thomas
For example:

   -n, --no-overwwrite, .SH DESCRIPTION

For updates, see http://www.catb.org/~esr:
   http://www.catb.org/~esr

In the synopsis, the short options and --no-overwrite are emboldened
but --document-root, --version and --help are not.

Under OPTIONS, the first few options are not displayed at all.

-no-overwwrite is spelt incorrectly (two w's).

I presume that before the text This script will try create (surely
try to create?) there should be a heading, since this is no longer
describing the options.

For Debian, the last paragraph before NOTE, starting This script is
written in Python can be removed, except for the last sentence, as
the rest of the paragraph just describes dependencies, which have no
place in a man page, and in any case are automatically satisfied in
Debian.

In the SEE ALSO section, rdjpgcom(1) is not emboldened but the other
two referenced man pages are.

Those are all the errors I find on a quick readthrough; fixing them
would be a good start.

I'd forgotten we still can't usefully have Build-Depends-Indep (#478524). :-(

On other archs, test failures, etc.

alpha, armel, ia64, powerpc and s390 all have something like this:
(chan-group:4745): tp-glib-CRITICAL **: file util.c: line 560
(tp_mixin_instance_get_offset): should not be reached
(chan-group:4745): tp-glib-CRITICAL **: tp_mixin_offset_cast: assertion
`offset != 0' failed

which I suspect is some sort of race condition in the test (all interactions
with telepathy-glib are from test code, not from the real library). I
haven't been able to reproduce this by running that test in a loop, although I
did get a couple of failures in which something happened in an unexpected
order and the test didn't terminate.

I don't think the tests are currently stable enough to want to run them in an
environment where we can't debug failures, so I'll turn them off for now.

Simon

Bug#557003: libc6: DNS queries are extremely slowed by ipv6

 Package: libc6
 Version: 2.10.1-7

When using Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, Synaptic and other applications
which use DNS, I always have to wait a long time (2 to 10 seconds) for a
host to resolve (i.e. messages like Resolving host, Looking up
 http://whatever;, etc).

I always thought that this was a problem of my internet connection.
I could never track the origin of it until finally like 2 hours ago I
 stumbled across this:
 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glibc/+bug/417757

To test if I had this problem, I opened up Firefox and got to about:config,
entered ipv6 and set network.dns.disableIPv6 to false. Immediately, every
DNS query was extremely fast and browsing was up to par to my high speed
 internet connection.
To do a definite test, I added ipv6_disable=1 to my kernel command line
and after that all the applications above were having much faster DNS
 queries.

This is a rather serious bug that I have been experiencing ever since
upgrading to testing (right after lenny's release), and always blamed on my
ISP/wireless connection/configuration/etc, while finding it strange that
every Mac or Windows PC near me using the same connection appeared to be
 much faster on DNS queries.

I guess there must be much more users affected by this and like me, they
 have no clue why.

It may be caused by a recent version of libc6, because the bug above is
marked as karmic regression (the latest ubuntu is the karmic one, 9.10)
and a friend of mine who is using lenny doesn't appear to have the same
 problem.

Pardon me if this as already been reported, I searched around but could not
find a Debian version of this bug.

Does adding options single-request to /etc/resolv.conf fixes your
 problems?

If so, it is due to a broken DNS server on your ISP side, and a bug
in Firefox and other application which explicitely ask to resolve
IPv6 adresses by not passing AI_ADDRCONFIG to getaddrinfo().

Hi,

you are right! It does solve my problem. But the strange thing is that
I moved to another country in the last 2 months, but I've had this
problem in my previous country also. So I guess its an application and
not a DNS problem?

What do you think I should do, file a bug with all the respective
applications, or just wait for the Ubuntu bug to go upstream / sort
itself out?
For now, I disabled ipv6 (I don't need it anyway) through the modprobe
blacklist.

Thanks for your help.

Bug#555722: again an OT question: bug: hintmedium == hintfull?

2009-11-19 Thread micu
Hello Carl,

sorry to bother you again with an off-topic question (not referring to this
bug report)---I simply do not know whom else to ask / where else to post it:

I can see no difference between hintfull and hintmedium, but a large
difference between hintmedium and hintslight, but it is actually a true in-
between of hintfull and hintslight I am searching for. Meaning: hintmedium /
hintfull hints too strong for me (actually I like the strong hinting when it
comes to single letters, but it destroyes my kerning in the whole text---at
least for larger fonts in the browser) and hintslight is too weak (the kerning
looks great, but the letter become way to fuzzy / unsharp).

Can this be the case (that there is no true option hintmedium and it is
automatically interpreted as hintfull)?

I worked around it for now in the following way:

This is not true. You can add ipv6.disable=1 to the command line.

It's documented as a module parameter in

Running /etc/init.d/apache reload doesn't work.
Running apache2ctl graceful does.

This seems to solve the problem:

Can we get this included in Debian Testing/Unstable?

I'll change your bug report to a Request for Package (RFP), see

I'm the upstream author and the 0.3.1 release is available from

Furthermore, Edward Betts edw...@debian.org used to maintain debian

Bug#557003: libc6: DNS queries are extremely slowed by ipv6

 Package: libc6

Are you using the same modem/router and using it as a DNS server?

What do you think I should do, file a bug with all the respective
applications, or just wait for the Ubuntu bug to go upstream / sort
 itself out?

There is no real plan to fix it. Maybe implement one more workaround if
we found how broken is your DNS server.

Bug#534880: linux-image-xen from stable-proposed-updates, 1 week without freeze

Hi,

we're suffering from this bug also on three Dom0 servers. All
DomUs which froze at least once have vcpu 1.

experienced the mysterious hanging problem anymore.

Have you rebooted only the DomU or also the Dom0 after installing

I just installed them and rebooted some of the DomUs, so let's see,
what happens.

Bug#500501: More detailed analysis

2009-11-19 Thread Dmitri Gribenko
Hi,

Please see more detailed analysis in bug #555922 that I filed against
libc (because in fact sed's regex implementation is based on, or is a
copy of libc's one and this bug affects many more packages).

In my opinion, the proper solution for sed would be:
1. --binary option should throw sed in a true binary mode without any
knowledge of UTF-8 or any other multibyte encodings. This would allow
to process binary files without any UTF-8 logic. And this would allow
direct manipulation of ill-formed UTF-8 sequences in cases when it is
required. The Unicode standard notes one such situation ([1], page
62):

For example, a UTF-8 file could have had CRLF sequences introduced at
every 80 bytes by a bad mailer program. This could result in some
UTF-8 byte sequences being interrupted by CRLFs, producing illegal
byte sequences. This mangled text is no longer UTF-8. It is
permissible for a conformant program to repair such text, recognizing
that the mangled text was originally well-formed UTF-8 byte sequences.

By introducing a true binary mode, one could write a sed script for
such purpose.

2. Otherwise, if input encoding is UTF-8, all input text should be
processed with a conformat UTF-8 decoder and all ill-formed sequences
should be replaced with replacement character. The result is passed
to the current implementation of regexes. But now we would have a
guarantee that a sed script can process any input in an expected way.
It can even match ill-formed sequences by matching the replacement
character.

Best regards,
Dmitri Gribenko

1-
First, not well documented the resize options, just when using more than 2
args, you get this error
usage: resize [-h] [-v] [-l] [num]
Looking at the code there is one more option -b (both) and num can be suffixed
whith %

2-
I've also found an error :
related to 01CVS.dpatch, lenny-11.diff, line 5539 and squeeze-14.diff, line
5857 :
ResizeRegions(*args, 0);
should be ResizeRegions(*args, i); (suggestion)
because now it just ignores the resizing mode (h/v/b/l) when giving 2 args,
when giving just 1 it works in interactive mode.
And it's important to work in batch mode (screenrc)

3-
args[0] = up;
args[1] = 0;
SaveAction(ktab + T_BACKTAB - T_CAPS + 256, RC_FOCUS, args, 0);
What does it mean? SHIFT + TAB does not work, which is the default keybind for
reverse cycling over regions?

4-
And related to 525998, I think this bug should also be applied to lenny, like
this one if it's accepted.
I use lenny and spent a lot of time just because googling, found that ^a+| and
vert_split should already work in lenny and yes, ^a+| worked but vert_split is
split -v and only looking at the code found the solution, screen is a very
usefull tool, vertical splitting, moving and resizing are also very usefull...
and in lenny too!!

Thanks

Bug#555680: System information in bug reports may be security-sensitive

2009-11-19 Thread Stefan Lippers-Hollmann
Hi

r14441 [1], hide wireless keys and wake-on-LAN password when including
network configuration in bug reports (bug #555680).

It is unfortunately not enough to prune wireless-key from bugreports, as
wpasupplicant defines additional means to configure passwords for wireless

commented out lines as well, as these might contain passwords or other
sensitive information and have no relevance for bugreporting.

The attached, valid, /etc/network/interfaces example illustrates the
problem with these means of configuration. The following patch applies to

I am merging the bugs #410200 and #410612. The encoding should be UTF-8

Although I took over this package from former maintainer/author
Tomohiro Kubota to keep it on Debian archive, I'm thinking this tool
seems obsolete and doesn't fit for recent UTF-8 desktop environment.
The documents in this package is excellent resource for i18n people,
but the tool needs to replace everything rather than to modify a small
part.

2009-11-19 Thread Imran Chaudhry
Package: libapache2-mod-auth-mysql
Version: 4.3.9-11
Severity: minor

When enabling this module the auth_basic module should be disabled. The
auth_basic module is enabled and installed by default. Having both enabled
causes an error in the Apache error log like Bad file descriptor: Could not
open password file: (null). It would save some users some time by warning them
that both are in force or by prompting them somehow when auth_mysql is enabled.

Sorry, but I can't do it. I installed Squeeze Saturday; Sunday or Monday I
upgraded something (I don't now what) and installed/removed a lot of

After a new boot, I discovered the problem: I decided to reinstall

Hello,

the problem described above bites me, using lenny, too.

For every truetype fontfile I try to generate a
hintfile with:

# defoma-hints -c truetype
/usr/local/share/fonts/truetype/Some-Font-Filename.ttf

I only get tons of:

Use of uninitialized value $h[0] in pattern match (m//) at
/usr/share/defoma/libperl-hint.pl line 43.

To fix this in Lenny I had to do the following steps:

1) dpkg --install libfont-freetype-perl_0.03-1_i386.deb

2) dpkg --install defoma_0.11.10-2_all.deb

3) fix /usr/share/defoma/libperl-hint.pl with the patch from Ambrose Li

After that I could generate a valid hintfile for many fonts with:
# defoma-hints --no-question truetype *.ttf localtruetype.hints

We could get the scripts from the official website git repository but
maybe someone else runs into the same problem.
 Needed:
 update_mysql_tables_8_to_9

Maybe a notice or a check in the update Script would be helpfull to
others (can't update version is 8. need 10 .. or something)

The Debian packages automatically upgrade the database for you unless
you said that you didn't want it to when you first installed it; you
might grep in your debconf database about that.

I said most sane window managers.

In the latter case, try setting the _JAVA_AWT_WM_NONREPARENTING
environment variable. That should be a better way to work around the
 problem than switching to MToolkit.

For that I probably need the latest jre, not the 'stable' one.

Either way it should not crash. If it does not support the feature it
should not try to turn it on.

Thanks
