I looked briefly at the HTML::FormFu code, and although it doesn't import anything from Regexp::Copy, it seems to be using Regexp::Storable (included in libregexp-copy-perl) behind the curtains. Removing 'use Regexp::Copy' from FormFu.pm makes t/filters/regex.t break. Cloning a separate bug; this should be discussed upstream. Patch was subsequently sent upsteam and applied; libhtml-formfu-perl no longer Depends on libregexp-copy-perl. I propose that we request that this package be removed from Debian, and will do so in a few days if there are no objections. I should probably have looked for explicit support from interested parties for this, so CCing uploaders. I'm not an uploader, but I think the case is clear enough that the lack of objections implies consent. Bug#613735: transition: gobject-introspection
2011/2/16 Emilio Pozuelo Monfort po...@debian.org: I'd like to start the gobject-introspection transition. The chage is in the gir/typelib file format. Any news on this? I guess there shouldn't be much anything blocking this, so it's just waiting for a transition ack from release team, right? It seems majority of the packages have experimental uploads with the gir1.2 packages, and as a sponsor of midgard2-core I'm also waiting for the possibility to upload to unstable instead of experimental. The packages without gir1.2 uploads yet are libdbusmenu, libdesktop-agnostic, libindicate, udev, epiphany-extensions-more and buzztard, of which all but the last one have Ubuntu gir1.2 packages (their April release will release with all-gir1.2). Bug#617996: rsyslog: remote syslog messages not logged
Hi Micheal, thanks for the patch. I'll think a bit more about this. Of course, it seems only reasonable to merge it. However, it is a very partial fix for a very specific problem. If, for example, Phil had used TCP syslog instead of UDP syslog, the patch would not have helped. So it is very specific to one input. Providing the same for TCP, I think, is quite more complicated (but I may be wrong). I understand you point that we should not try to proactively fix things. On the other hand, I wonder how realistic it is that we run into the same situation at all. If it is, and if that really is an issue, then I think we must evaluate the other obvious cases. We can't simply ignore that problem potential if there is a real use case behind it. This is what I am concerned about. Any thoughts? Bug#614978: iotop: All values 0.0 when using -b parameter
Hi Guillaume Thanks for the explanation. When you compare that to top I must say that my top (part of procps 3.2.8) /does/ deliver values on the first shot. Even with top -d 3600. Unfortunately -o doesn't help in my case (to make a long story short: I'm collecting performance data - and no value means even just that (0.0 != )). You can see the first read in http://repo.or.cz/w/iotop.git/blob/HEAD:/iotop/data.py#l372: 372 # A first time as we are interested in the delta 373 self.update_process_counts() The first screen of output will be all zero or not depending on the relative speed of iotop and the I/O generating process. So, all bets are off. This is to mimic top -dhuge value which gives you an output right away and _then_ starts the main loop. There's always iotop -o to filter out zero values, so I don't know if there's anything to fix here. -- Guillaume

Bug#604264: Creox in Debian, was: Bug#604264: Preparations for the removal of the KDE3 and Qt3 libraries
Hi Jozef, Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a member of the pkg-multimedia team, a bunch of folks that, among others, maintain your package 'creox' in Debian. In Debian the package maintainers for QT and KDE have scheduled the removal from QT3 and KDE3 packages, which creox currently depends on. On Sat, Mar 12, 2011 at 21:03:35 (CET), Ana Guerrero wrote: On Sun, Nov 21, 2010 at 05:47:53PM +0100, Eckhart Wörner wrote: Package: creox Severity: wishlist User: debian-qt-...@lists.debian.org Usertags: qt3libs-removal kde3libs-removal Dear maintainer, The Debian Qt/KDE team is planning to remove the KDE3 and Qt3 libraries from Debian shortly after the Squeeze release. The transition phase to KDE4 and Qt4 will finish since both KDE and Nokia upstream don't maintain the old versions of those libraries anymore. In order to make this move, all packages directly or indirectly depending on the KDE3/Qt3 libraries have to either get ported to KDE4/Qt4 or eventually get removed from the Debian repositories. Therefore, please take the time and: - contact your upstream (if existing) and ask about the state of a KDE4/Qt4 port of your application - if there are no activities regarding porting, investigate whether there are suitable alternatives for your users - if there is a KDE4/Qt4 port that is not yet packaged, consider packaging it - if both the KDE3/Qt3 and the KDE4/Qt4 version already coexist in the Debian archives, consider removing the KDE3/Qt3 version Dear multimedia maintainers, what is the status of this? The removal of kdelibs4c2a is imminent now. Since there is not a kde4 port, could you please file for removal? Interested users can always fetch the package from Squeeze. From looking at the upstream homepage http://zyzstar.kosoru.com/?creox, I don't see any indication about efforts to port to qt4/kde4. This is unfortunate as it means that we have to request the removal of creox from unstable. If anyone can, please provide input so that we don't need to remove creox from Debian. -- Gruesse/greetings, Reinhard Tartler, KeyID 945348A4 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Ian And what if I don't use a desktop? Julien That's probably a regression in GNOME, as last year, upstream Julien was blogging about GNOME configuration [1], and it was exposing Julien most of the features. Judging by the direction of Gnome for the past few years, this regeression won't be fixed. In any case, see the last sentence ... That's unfortunate, and opposed to X input maintainer's wishes, see the one before last paragraph of: http://who-t.blogspot.com/2010/06/keyboard-configuration-its-complicated.html Ian And I'm leaving out the keyboard which has similar issues, and also Ian similar nonsolutions. Julien FWIW both keyboard and mouse configuration is explained in X Julien Strike Force's documentation [2], and you don't need an Julien xorg.conf, but only some snippets. I had tried keyboard-configuration. Again, it doesn't get close to the level of flexibility I want. How do I set the Pause key as Compose? I keep doing that with an Xmodmap file, and praying that my way will continue to work. I'm sorry I didn't study that much about keyboard yet, I think setxkbmap is the preferred tool now, but I don't know much about it. At least not more than Xmodmap that I don't use ;) Ian Go ahead and remove dexconf, better no tool than a totally broken Ian one, but please consider adding a flexible, transparent and Ian desktop-independent tool to configure the above. Julien Doesn't your-favorite-editor and /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ fill that Julien gap ? First, there is no such directory on my system. I see that it is mentioned in the manpage, but without it being created by the package (even if empty) I simply didn't know a split configuration was possible for the X server. It certainly wasn't so in XFree86. I think that's a point, this directory should probably be created. Second, yes, in general and for a random package, I am quite capable of writing a configuration file by hand. The X server is different. Why? Because the hierarchical, bottom-up format of the file forces me to write the entire configuration, reproducing all the defaults even in the parts totally unrelated to what I'm trying to customize. For instance, to modify the synaptics behavior, I cannot simply write a Pointer section and be done. To get it used, I have to have a ServerLayout section, therefore I also need a Screen section, and once I have one I better get all the most obscure settings there right. Well basically this is not true anymore, you can write 'just' the synaptics configuration, as explained in the doc I pointed to you earlier. And even without /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ you can write partial xorg.conf now, with just your synaptics configuration in it for instance. But I guess this need a little more advertising ;) This is the only reason I am begging for a tool to generate the configuration. The availability of xorg.conf.d doesn't seem to change this; correct me if I'm wrong. Julien My two cents, Thanks for an informative, snark-less reply. Basically there are still more than 500 bugs to triage, so I guess spending time on video drivers bugs is more important than spending time on user missconfiguration... Especially when the time has been spent to write the doc already. But the doc might need some improvements, as always, patches are welcome ;) Hope this helps, -- Julien Viard de Galbertjul...@vdg.blogsite.org http://silicone.homelinux.org/ jul...@silicone.homelinux.org -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#618315: libsocket-getaddrinfo-perl: README.Debian misrepresents the nature of the bin/get{addr, name}info binaries
Package: libsocket-getaddrinfo-perl Version: 0.20-1 Severity: minor README.Debian states: --- Since version 0.20, upstream have distributed getnameinfo and getaddrinfo as scripts in the bin directory. Since the functionality of these scripts is a subset of that provided by 'dig' and 'nslookup', we feel that these are better considered examples and have been installed as such. The utilities dig and nslookup can be found in the 'dnsutils' package. --- This isn't really correct. 'dig' and 'nslookup' are both DNS clients; they directly talk DNS to diagnose DNS problems. bin/getaddrinfo is a tiny commandline wrapper around libc's getaddrinfo(3) call, which may use DNS as part of its work, if that's what /etc/nsswitch.conf says. getaddrinfo(3) is of course not limited to DNS, taking information also from /etc/hosts or other libnss-* modules such as LDAP or MySQL. The functionalliy of bin/getaddrinfo is neither a subset of nor a superset of that provided by dig or nslookup; it is however somewhat related. The utility of bin/getaddrinfo is that it provides a shell output showing _exactly_ what a normal userland binary would do to resolve hostnames into addresses; INCLUDING the IPv4/IPv6 ordering. This ordering can be the subject of many subtle bugs in connections, either causing timeouts, delays, or outright failures. It is useful to have a commandline debug tool for getaddrinfo(3) in such scenarios. Neither 'dig' nor 'nslookup' can be of any help diagnosing these problems. I understand your decision not to ship these binaries in a package called libFOO-perl; but please do include them somewhere. I for one rely on them being installed on my machines for my own debugging and testing of IPv6-related connection failures, and the fact that your upstream package now removes them actually removes them from my own machines. Perhaps these could be shipped in a -bin package? E.g. I notice a lot of shared librares (e.g. ncurses) has a related package of binaries (ncurses-bin). Perhaps these two binaries can be shipped in the slightly-unwieldy libsocket-getaddrinfo-perl-bin ? At the very least, can you please update the README.Debian to some slightly more accurate wording? -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages libsocket-getaddrinfo-perl depends on: ii libc6 2.11.2-11 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii perl 5.10.1-17 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ii perl-base [perlapi-5.10.1]5.10.1-17 minimal Perl system libsocket-getaddrinfo-perl recommends no packages. Bug#584572: symbol lookup error: undefined symbol
Hi, i have the same problem on Alpha. I installed yeasterday a Debian Lenny using netinst CDs [1] (because there is no squeeze release for it and last d-i daily build is from 2009 [2]). I just installed base system, and upraded it using {security,volatile}.d.o (then installed only openssh-server, molly-guard, hdparm and locales, and few dependencies (without recommends or suggests)). So just an hour ago had clean, pure and simples lenny. Then I was going to upgrade it to something newer. But because there is no stable (squeezy) for alpha, as well no testing (wheezy) for alpha, but there is a unstable (sid), I decided to upgrade to it (with utmost care). So for safety, instead of performing dist-upgrade (which actually propsed very resonable upgrade, without removing anything), I performed just apt-get --purge install dpkg apt first (then was going to upgrade udev and kernel, and reboot, and then perform rest of upgrade). The reason I was wanting to use getaddrinfo in the first place, was to debug why a server of mine was listening on [::1] rather than 127.0.0.1; the relevant output was: --- $ getaddrinfo --passive --service 8034 Resolved host '', service '8034' socket(AF_INET , SOCK_STREAM, IPPROTO_TCP) + '0.0.0.0:8034' socket(AF_INET , SOCK_DGRAM , IPPROTO_UDP) + '0.0.0.0:8034' socket(AF_INET , SOCK_RAW , IPPROTO_IP ) + '0.0.0.0:8034' socket(AF_INET6, SOCK_STREAM, IPPROTO_TCP) + '[::]:8034' socket(AF_INET6, SOCK_DGRAM , IPPROTO_UDP) + '[::]:8034' socket(AF_INET6, SOCK_RAW , IPPROTO_IP ) + '[::]:8034' $ getaddrinfo --service 8034 Resolved host '', service '8034' socket(AF_INET6, SOCK_STREAM, IPPROTO_TCP) + '[::1]:8034' socket(AF_INET6, SOCK_DGRAM , IPPROTO_UDP) + '[::1]:8034' socket(AF_INET6, SOCK_RAW , IPPROTO_IP ) + '[::1]:8034' socket(AF_INET , SOCK_STREAM, IPPROTO_TCP) + '127.0.0.1:8034' socket(AF_INET , SOCK_DGRAM , IPPROTO_UDP) + '127.0.0.1:8034' socket(AF_INET , SOCK_RAW , IPPROTO_IP ) + '127.0.0.1:8034' --- This sort of direct observation of glibc's behaviour is not possible using 'dig' or 'nslookup'. -- Paul LeoNerd Evans leon...@leonerd.org.uk ICQ# 4135350 | Registered Linux# 179460 http://www.leonerd.org.uk/ signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#602330: (no subject)
I've had a similar issue with decnet this past week, but I'm pretty sure the problem was with dnet-common rather than with libdnet. Somehow, my eth0 address was being changed to AA:00:04:00:4x:xx (with the last digits being 4, a or 0, I don't quite remember) Purging dnet-common gave me a working eth0 again. Bug#618315: clarification
Paul, Thanks for the feedback. There is no issue providing scripts as part of perl package. The reasoning was that there was no benefit over the existing DNS utilities and that it would be best not clutter to path with such scripts. They are installed as example scripts though that is not available on the path. If we got this wrong it can certainly be fixed. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
Bug#594179: dpkg armhf patch acceptance status?
On 14 March 2011 10:47, Jonathan Nieder jrnie...@gmail.com wrote: Konstantinos Margaritis wrote: To cut the long story short, I agree with Steve's proposal on this: arm-linux-gnueabi_hf What is the purpose of the underscore? In other words, what is the advantage over arm-linux-gnueabihf? I worry that some tools may not like it --- for example, package names like mlton-target-arm-linux-gnueabi_hf are not allowed. Which looks very much surmountable, but just in case, it seems prudent to ask. Just to be clear, this is not an objection (both triplets look fine to me). I ask in the hope of getting the rationale well documented. Sigh, fine, whatever. Nothing personal Jonathan, it just feels extremely frustrating to always have a point raised when we're about to finally make a decision - and yes, it's a very valid point that you raised. So, yes, ok, finally, let's agree -for the last time I hope- on the underscore-less triplet: arm-linux-gnueabihf So, can we please, please, close this bug and get on with other issues? Bug#616010: xserver-xorg: dexconf fails to generate xorg.conf file
stupid but I must say... the video triangle (chip interfaces, documentation, sheer number of new plans and lack of drivers) is worse than the bermuda triangle ! Julien Viard de Galbert wrote: CCing the bug Back, I guess your point of view might be shared by other users. On Mon, Mar 14, 2011 at 01:04:48AM -0700, Ian Zimmerman wrote: Ian The desktops have their GUI tools to configure that, but guess Ian what? None of the desktops goes beyond the most trivial settings, Ian in the case of Gnome I think it's just left-handed vs right-handed Ian and that's it. So, still unusable without manual configuration. But the doc might need some improvements, as always, patches are welcome ;) Hope this helps, -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#618288: apt doesn't honor multiarch version requirements when configuring
(sorry, no time to look closely at it currently) On Mon, Mar 14, 2011 at 03:15, Steve Langasek vor...@debian.org wrote: I've noticed what looks like a mismatch between apt's and dpkg's idea of when a package is configurable, that results in apt asking dpkg to configure a multi-arch: same package that isn't ready yet, and then bombing out. I fear its related to immediate configuration: Could you try with -o APT::Immediate-Configure=0 ? And, how tries APT to call dpkg exactly? (with/without immediate) -o Debug::pkgDPkgPM=1 Attached is a small testcase for this you can drop in test/integration/ and run it. It should install a same package and tries to dist-upgrade then (in a temp directory of course). The output of the simulations (i have no multiarch-dpkg handy currently) seems to be fine as long as libsame isn't essential (i know, not allowed for a library in real world, but its the easiest way to get the immediate flag). But thinking about it, APT enables auto-deconfiguration: De-configuring libstdc++6:i386 ... Unpacking replacement libstdc++6 ... dpkg: error processing libstdc++6 (--configure): libstdc++6:amd64 4.5.2-6ubuntu1+multiarch.1 cannot be configured because libstdc++6:i386 is in a different version (4.5.2-5ubuntu3+multiarch.1) Looks for me like libstdc++6:i386 is deconfigured, so the (implicit) Breaks in libstdc++6:amd64 is satisfied and it should be configurable as the configuration would only be forbidden if libstdc++6:i386 would still be configured - but it is deconfigured currently -, doesn't it? Bug#561963: Packaging Jenkins for Debian/Ubuntu
Hi Tim I thought that you would appreciate an update on where I have got to with packaging Hudson (now Jenkins) for Ubuntu and a few thoughts I have on how we take this forward in Debian. The current state of the packaging can be found at [0]. It is functional on Ubuntu Natty (see [1] for details on how to install). The majority of packages are built from source; a few are not and I am working on getting this sorted out so that they have a chance with complying with Debian policy. I think that the main challenges lie in the following areas: 1) Commons Jelly In order to support the requirements of Stapler (a direct dependency of Jenkins) I've had to package an odd mix of pure upstream commons-jelly and a number of Jenkins maintained branches. This is a bit confusing and makes the dependency management quite hard. We could move over to classify all packages as Jenkins maintained but this is not strictly true. 2) Jenkins Branches A number of packages that are already in the archive (and some that are not) are branches that are maintained by the Jenkins community. I have clearly marked these in the wiki topic and they all have either a hudson- or jenkins- prefix. The approach I have taken is to attempt to package against the existing library first and then only package the branch if I need to; there are a few that I have not touched but may be required if something comes up in testing. I will continue to work on sorting out the remaining issues with the current package set but I would appreciate your feedback in these two areas specifically. With regards to getting this into the Ubuntu + Debian archive, my feel is that we should endeavour to get this into Debian first - that way both distributions will benefit from the time I have spent so far. Would you be prepared to sponsor these packages into Debian? I appreciate that its a-lot of work due to the large number of dependencies, so we could ask more generally in the debian-java community for help if you feel that is appropriate. Bug#617969: xserver-xorg-core: Weird behavior/crash with specific usage
I don't have a hardware problem. I checked with Debian Stable LiveCD and none of the problems appeared there. In fact my machine worked great with sid just before the release of the new stable. After that, some of the updates that flew in caused this problem. I certainly haven't overclocked my GPU. So maybe this is an xserver-xorg-video-radeon problem? Should I re-report it there? my experience with that is you *might* have a memory problem with your video card with the lockup statement included that adds to the possibility that might be so on the other hand I can't see it so you might just need graphics libs needing to be re-installed Best is if you can try a known good video card in or with the same system. . Alternatively if you can't try a different card maybe you can try known good graphics apps that use the same ammount of video memory and see if there are problems. But that is mostly the same as re-installing. Your not over clocking your card are you? That can cause permanent damage. tools that change clock speed have been known to damage and be a pile of bull when it comes to real performance that the card (properly set) did not already have.

Just for the record, the rationale here is that an ekg2 binary (/usr/bin/ekg2 in -core or /usr/bin/ekg2-remote in -remote) needs a UI plugin to be useful, and a UI plugin itself is useless without a binary to run under. However clearly upgradeability is more important than providing clues to a user who decided to install ekg2-ui-gtk rather than, say, the ekg2 metapackage, so I'm probably going to downgrade the dependencies in UI packages to enhances. -- Marcin Owsiany porri...@debian.org http://marcin.owsiany.pl/ GnuPG: 1024D/60F41216 FE67 DA2D 0ACA FC5E 3F75 D6F6 3A0D 8AA0 60F4 1216 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#618323: chromium-browser: Chromium overloads X server: Maximum number of clients reached
Package: chromium-browser Version: 6.0.472.63~r59945-5+squeeze3 Severity: normal Chromium apparently uses too many X windows, overloading the X server and eventually making it impossible to run new applications. Trying to start a new app fails with: $ xwininfo Maximum number of clients reached xwininfo: unable to open display ':0.0' Killing one running app allowed me to gather some data: $ xlsclients |wc -l 37 $ xwininfo -root -children|wc -l 905 $ xwininfo -root -children|grep chromium|wc -l 626 I've made sure that the app I killed had no significant impact on these numbers. It appears the number of open X windows is 2/3rd due to Chromium, and that it's the cause for the subsequent impossibility to start any other X application. (I understand the maximum number of X clients is about 255, so that's not the issue here). FWIW, I have only one open Chromium window with 15 tabs. Bug#618326: redis-server: fails to purge - command (deluser|adduser) in postrm not found
Package: redis-server Version: 2:2.2.1-1 Severity: important User: debian...@lists.debian.org Usertags: piuparts piuparts.d.o Hi, during a test with piuparts I noticed your package failed to purge due to a command not found. According to policy 7.2 you cannot rely on the depends being available during purge, only the essential packages are available for sure. Filing this as important because a.) it's a clear policy violation (to not clean up at purge) b.) having a piuparts clean archive is a release goal since lenny and c.) this package being piuparts buggy blocks packages depending on it from being tested by piuparts (and thus possibly the detection of more severe problems). From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...): 0m11.0s DEBUG: Starting command: ['chroot', '/org/piuparts.debian.org/tmp/tmpO4_CXB', 'dpkg', '--purge', '--pen ding'] 0m11.1s DUMP: (Reading database ... 6161 files and directories currently installed.) Using useradd or userdel from the passwd package should fix this problem. cheers, Holger Start: 2011-03-13 11:37:46 UTC Package: redis-server Priority: optional Section: database Installed-Size: 556 Maintainer: Chris Lamb la...@debian.org Architecture: amd64 Source: redis Version: 2:2.2.1-1 Depends: libc6 (= 2.7), adduser Filename: pool/main/r/redis/redis-server_2.2.1-1_amd64.deb Size: 215022 MD5sum: 0df7cf6867e7b97a11e7b38aa3d46378 SHA1: 56e54c9208e502153e3780f2e9459a6d38b64a1e SHA256: 8bca781b288bd346464739a4803fd1e2460459bb677ac0d4b990b74fe74da00e Description: Persistent key-value database with network interface Redis is a key-value database in a similar vein to memcache but the dataset is non-volatile. Bug#618329: xserver-xorg: Server constantly reprobes monitor
Package: xserver-xorg Version: 1:7.6+4 Severity: normal Since upgrading to current unstable the X server has constantly (at least once a minute, frequently much more often) reprobed the display configuration. According to the log it's detecting monitors fine, and the display looks OK when it's there, but there are regular reprobes which blank the screen in a most distracting fashion. Looking at the GNOME monitors panel no monitors are reported as detected, it is possible that this detection is being kicked off by a higher level piece of software though there is clearly also an issue with reporting detection results. Policy 12.3: Any files that are referenced by programs but are also useful as stand alone documentation should be installed under `/usr/share/package/' with symbolic links from `/usr/share/doc/package' This package does the former, but not the latter. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing-proposed-updates APT policy: (500, 'testing-proposed-updates'), (500, 'oldstable'), (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.37-2-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=nl_BE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=nl_BE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages gstreamer0.10-plugins-gl-doc depends on: ii gstreamer0.10-doc 0.10.32-4 GStreamer core documentation and m ii libglib2.0-doc2.28.2-1 Documentation files for the GLib l gstreamer0.10-plugins-gl-doc recommends no packages. gstreamer0.10-plugins-gl-doc suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#618332: rxvt-unicode: screen contents not restored when detaching a screen session
Package: rxvt-unicode Version: 9.09-5 Severity: normal The screen contents are not restored when detaching a screen session. To reproduce the problem: 1. Run rxvt-unicode. 2. Run some commands, just to generate contents in the screen. 3. Run the screen utility. 4. Detach the screen session ([Cmd key] d), or simpler: terminate the shell (this will close the session and quit screen). The bug: The contents one had before running screen are not restored. Bug#611750: Bug#613790: 2nd update (Re: Bug#613790: pm-utils: eeepc 1005 PE recently stopped resuming from hibernate)
Le Sun, 06 Mar 2011 00:50:50 +, Ben Hutchings b...@decadent.org.uk a écrit : You can find all the individual patches as a quilt series in: git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/longterm/longterm-queue-2.6.32.git subdirectory releases/2.6.32.28. Since quilt doesn't have a bisect command you would have to have to keep track of good and bad positions in the series yourself. I would guess that it's most likely one of: releases/2.6.32.28/pm-hibernate-fix-pm_post_-notification-with-user-space-suspend.patch releases/2.6.32.28/x86-enable-the-intr-remap-fault-handling-after-local-apic-setup.patch so you could try reverting those before going through the whole series. Hello Ben, I've done the manual bisecting with 2.6.32.28 patches, and with 6 tries (and 2 more checks to be sure), I found that the patch causing hibernation resume failures was : x86-hotplug-use-mwait-to-offline-a-processor-fix-the-legacy-case.patch I've done about ten successfull hibernation/resume cycles with a 2.6.32-30 without this patch, and I'm using it since the end of my bisecting with success. I've also read on bug #611750's log that the new linux-image-2.6.32-5-686_2.6.32-31_i386 could have a fix for this problem, perhaps you could look if there is a patch in this latest version fixing the previous faulty patch I've identified here.
