Which kind of file system is on your USB stick? How is your USB stick
partitioned?
The filesystem was created as
mkfs -t ext2 -L stick /dev/sdb1
Is ext2 ok here?
Every bootable USB stick I have seen so far is formated with some FAT
variant.
