I'm afraid it's just not practical to do this remotely. Being able to

Depending on how long you think you might need, and how much it would

I can't do that right now, but might be able to do that in a few months.

Bug#680917: roundcube-core: Symbolic link not allowed or link target not accessible: js/jquery-ui.min.js

2012/7/9 Vincent Bernat ber...@debian.org:
  ❦ 9 juillet 2012 10:14 CEST, Teodor mteo...@gmail.com :
The reason for this broken links is that ../../../javascript get resolved

 /usr/share/javascript.

 Hi Teodor!

Hi!

We already got a similar problem. The output of ls -l is misleading. You
can check with readlink -f instead:

I tried to get that with «readlink -f» but it doesn't print anything
in this case. This is because ../../../javascript doesn't exist.

 $ ls -l /var/lib/roundcube/program
 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 28 juin 20 08:02 /var/lib/roundcube/program -
 /usr/share/roundcube/program
 $ ls -l /usr/share/roundcube/program/js/jquery.min.js

 $ ls -l /var/lib/roundcube/program/js/jquery.min.js
 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 40 juin 24 01:53
 /var/lib/roundcube/program/js/jquery.min.js -
 ../../../javascript/jquery/jquery.min.js
 $ readlink -f /var/lib/roundcube/program/js/jquery.min.js
 /usr/share/javascript/jquery/jquery.min.js

I have all these exactly as you noted. However, my report was for
plugins directory not for program.

Could you check that you get the same output on your system? Also, here
 is the relevant bug report:
  http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=656886

I think you have the same problem. If this is the case, an history of
what versions of roundcube you installed would help to find where the
 problem comes from.

2012-05-03 14:52:55 upgrade roundcube 0.5.4+dfsg-1~bpo60+1 0.7.1-1~bpo60+1
(at the same time it started to depend on libjs-jquery-ui)

Looking at the last message from bug #656886 I see that you assumed
/var/lib/roundcube/plugins/jqueryui is a symlink but in reality it is
not. Nor is the plugins directory (from var). The symlink to /var is
in /usr/share/roundcube:
| plugins - /var/lib/roundcube/plugins
| skins - /var/lib/roundcube/skins

Cheers

Bug#681002: release.debian.org: Freeze exception for libguestfs

2012-07-10 Thread Hilko Bengen
* Cyril Brulebois:

 Hilko Bengen ben...@debian.org (09/07/2012):
I had converted the package to multiarch just before the freeze and only
noticed today that I hadn't noticed that the RC bug I introduced
(#678977) had been reopened after I had marked it as fixed.

Relevant parts of the changelog are attached below.

Maybe that's just me, but I found the diff between testing and
 unstable *HUGE*

There have been three minor upstream releases since 1.18.1. The project
is based around autoconf/automake (57 Makefile.am files), and much of
the source code for the various language bindings is automatically
generated, so there are more than a few false positives.

If this is still not acceptable, what about a 1.18.2-2wheezy1 that just
fixes #678977 (upgrade breakage due to multiarch change), #680885,
#680886 (multiarch coinstall)?

Cheers,

Bug#681036: dh-autoreconf: CDBS packages fail to build twice in a row

2012-07-10 Thread Theppitak Karoonboonyanan
Package: dh-autoreconf
Version: 6
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

While preparing NMU for gnome-themes-standard (#661471), I find the package
fails to build twice in a row, with the following message in the second round:

---8---
dpkg-source: info: local changes detected, the modified files are:
 gnome-themes-standard-3.4.2/config.guess
 gnome-themes-standard-3.4.2/config.sub
dpkg-source: error: aborting due to unexpected upstream changes, see
/tmp/gnome-themes-standard_3.4.2-1.1.diff.XGhYQM
dpkg-source: info: you can integrate the local changes with dpkg-source --commit
---8---

Checking the build log of the first round, I find two efforts to update
config.{guess, sub}, one by dh_autoreconf from autoreconf.mk, and the other
from CDBS buildcore.mk, trying to copy config.{guess, sub} directly from
autotools-dev with backups:

---8---
 debian/rules build
test -x debian/rules
dh_autoreconf
libtoolize: putting auxiliary files in `.'.
libtoolize: copying file `./ltmain.sh'
libtoolize: Consider adding `AC_CONFIG_MACRO_DIR([m4])' to configure.ac and
libtoolize: rerunning libtoolize, to keep the correct libtool macros in-tree.
libtoolize: Consider adding `-I m4' to ACLOCAL_AMFLAGS in Makefile.am.
configure.ac:15: installing `./compile'
src/Makefile.am: installing `./depcomp'
mkdir -p .

touch debian/stamp-autotools-files
---8---

dh_autoreconf seems to take precedence. So, no matter how buildcore.mk tries
to back up the files, it backs up the updated contents.

The debian/rules of gnome-themes-standard is like this:

---8---
#!/usr/bin/make -f

include /usr/share/cdbs/1/rules/autoreconf.mk
include /usr/share/cdbs/1/rules/debhelper.mk
...
---8---

As autoreconf.mk is included first, it takes precedence over buildcore.mk
for post-patches and reverse-config targets. If I insert an include
statement for buildcore.mk before it, the problem will be fixed.

However, I think it's better to add the include line in autoreconf.mk,
so that all CDBS packages should be similarly fixed at once.

Yes , I would need direction on how to get started. Thanks.

FTR, I had another mail of Hor where I suggested those activities:

There are many ways to help:
- bug triage and forwarding bugs upstream
- submitting upstream some of the patches in debian/patches/
  which haven't been submitted yet
- trying to backporting security fixes to the version in stable
- developing a tool to automatically package wordpress plugins

I've seen SEGVs similar to that which are described and they were solved by
freeing more disk space.

The upstream bug has a patch, could this be fixed in time for Wheezy?

Logging software should never just SEGV when disk space entirely runs out, let
alone when almost 5% of disk space (almost 500M of storage) is available.

This is wrong. I'm interested in the concrete bug in libpam-systemd.
Just making docbook-xsl not output dates in comments won't make it
magically go away; systemd would need to be rebuild afterwards.

Please reassign it back to libpam-systemd and then file a new bug if you
want (with yourself as submitter, not me). Thanks.

Bug#671076: cdbs does not remove *.egg-info directory

thanks

Hi!

cdbs is using this snippet in python-distutils.mk:

find $(CURDIR) -prune -name '*.egg-info' -exec rm -rf '{}' ';'

find $(CURDIR) -prune is $(CURDIR) and does not match -name switch
and therefore nothing happens. I don't know why -prune is here. Maybe:

find $(CURDIR) -maxdepth 1 -name '*.egg-info' -exec rm -rf '{}' ';'

It's true that the original code is buggy, but I also don't think that
cdbs should remove *.egg-info. It's not safe to do it unconditionally;
there are known cases of packages breaking if you do that.

Please either:
- reassign the bugs back to python-recaptcha, pycha and nevow
- or change submitter to yourself.

Bug#602957: apache2: Error when using mod_proxy from SSL virtual host to HTTP

2012-07-10 Thread Vincent Danjean
Package: libapache2-mod-gnutls
Followup-For: Bug #602957

  Hi,

I'm reopening this bug as I suffer from exactly the same thing.
The patch in the bug report seems to be applied to the sources (when looking at
them), however I got the same problem.

My system has a SSL (gnutls) apache virtualhost with the following
configuration:
ProxyPass / http://internal.server/path
ProxyPassReverse / http://internal.server/path

In my error log, on the proxy server, I get:

[Mon Jul 09 23:11:54 2012] [error] [client 10.77.0.3] GnuTLS: Handshake Failed.
Hit Maximum Attempts
[Mon Jul 09 23:11:54 2012] [error] [client 10.77.0.3] (70014)End of file found:
proxy: error reading status line from remote server internal.server:80
[Mon Jul 09 23:11:54 2012] [error] [client 10.77.0.3] proxy: Error reading from
remote server returned by /

In the access log of internal.server, I get:

10.77.16.2 - - [09/Jul/2012:23:12:03 +0200] - 408 0 - -

Just switching to mod_ssl instead of mod_gnutls make all things working.
In the access log of internal.server, I now get:
10.77.16.2 - - [09/Jul/2012:23:21:19 +0200] GET /path/index.php HTTP/1.1 200
3696 - Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0.4) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/10.0.4 Iceweasel/10.0.4

So, it seems that 0.5.10 version of libapache2-mod-gnutls does not really fix
this bug.

  Regards,
Vincent

Package: eclipse
Version: 3.8.0~rc4-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I've just upgraded my eclipse, to find my plugins missing;
they were not active, and not in the installed software reports.

I wanted to install them, and found:

The EGit plug-in (installed as a Debian package) still had its
software site in the list of update sources. Updating from there
reported that the software is already installed; I added more
packages from this site, and it made the plug-in live again.

Aptana Studio (which I had installed directly from their site) was
nowhere to be found, and had to be completely reinstalled.
Aptana Studio - http://download.aptana.com/studio3/plugin/install

Aptana Studio, among other things, defines perspectives. Some of the
perspective settings were lost.

Thanks for your good work,

Shai.

Prover9 is an automated theorem prover for first-order and equational

The program Mace4 searches for finite structures satisfying first-order

accepts. If the statement is the denial of some conjecture, any
structures found by Mace4 are counterexamples to the conjecture.

Mace4 can be a valuable complement to Prover9, looking for

Bug#681046: Some applications are not properly maximized

2012-07-10 Thread Francesco Paolo Lovergine
Package: awesome
Version: 3.4.12-2
Severity: normal

I'm not sure if this is a xrandr issue, an awesome issue or some general
problem due to some widget toolbox such as gtk. I'm using awesome on a
laptop with a double screen LVDS+VGA configuration.
Total screen size is: 3520x1200 pixels with one 1600x1200 LVDS and
a 1920x1080 external display. At least a couple of applications (libreoffice
and qgis) are not able to be properly maximized and also cannot be moved
on any external screen tag. Other applications (e.g. evince) instead work
properly: they can be maximized and/or moved (by win+mouse) within the
tag desktop. In order to properly reproduce the issue any of the previously
cited program can be used. Note that I have the same problem with both an ATI
and a Nvidia card, so it seems undependent on the graphic card.
I'm sure it used to work in the past on sid, but I'm not sure if the
problem started with a change in Xorg or what.

Bug#677016: resume failure: kobject_add_internal failed for BAT0 with -EEXIST

Fair enough. When's the last time it happened? Is the error always
kobject_add_internal failed for BAT0 with -EEXIST?

It appeared last time two weeks ago, when I was still using 3.3. Since
then I have been using 3.4, and no problem so far.

There were two errors:
- kobject_add_internal failed for BAT0 with -EEXIST and no other message
- the error with the recursivity, the acpi function and so on (the image
I posted).

But probably they are related, since BAT0 (battery 0) is surely to acpi.

I tried searching the web for that message but you seem to be the only
one getting it in this circumstance. :) Alas.

If you can still reproduce it occasionally with some kernel, please
report the symptoms to linux-a...@vger.kernel.org, cc-ing either me or
this bug log so we can track it. Be sure to mention:

  - precise steps to reproduce, expected result, actual result, and
how the difference indicates a bug (should be simple enough)
  - how reproducible it is
  - which kernels you have tested and what happened with each
  - full dmesg output from booting an affected kernel, as an
attachment or link
  - acpidump output, as an attachment or link
  - any other weird symptoms or workarounds

Hopefully someone there can suggest a way to figure out what is
happening, for example by applying some patch or enabling some
debugging feature to be ready for when it happens next.

Thanks again for a clear report, and sorry I have no better advice.

No problem for me, I am glad that it works on 3.4! So if you prefer,
you can close this bug.

Bug#680174: Improving our response to duplicate packages in Debian

Attached is a patch against the developers-reference source. It can
probably be improved, any comments are welcome.

Dear Guus,

thank you for your patch. Here are a few comments.

 index 371fba2..5205222 100644
 --- a/beyond-pkging.dbk
 +++ b/beyond-pkging.dbk

I think that everything could be pooled in section 5.1 (New packages).

+paraIf you dislike the software the new maintainer wants to package,
+you probably shouldn't complain about this to the maintainer, they are
merely packaging it. Complain to upstream instead.

I propose to delete « Complain to upstream instead ». We do not know if it will
be productive so let's avoid sharing the responsibility for starting heated
discussions upstream.

+You should also consider if your prospective package is suitable for
 inclusion
+in Debian. The software must of course be legally redistributable, and if you
+want it to be included in the main section, its license must be compatible
 with
 +the DFSG.

I think that that the current consensus is that « in Debian » means the same as
« in the main section ». Perhaps the above sentence can be rephrased as
follows.

You should also consider if your prospective package is redistributable in the
Debian archive and if it is suitable or not for the Debian distribution (the
main section of our archive). See URL to social contract point 5 and URL to
Policy chapter 2 for details.

Have a nice day,

Selecting a VPN connection in nm-applet does nothing, no dialog pops up.

Works fine here. nm-applet is correctly started during log in and I get
the dialogs when establishing a VPN connection.

There might be a race condition somewhere when gnome-shell and nm-applet
 are started during session startup.

Could you try the patch mentioned in the lp bug, i.e.

 http://git.gnome.org/browse/network-manager-applet/commit/?id=0c997a95d5b82ea6733e001478db1e2490b49575

Unfortunately I get a compile error with the patch applied:

nm_applet-applet.o: In function `shell_version_changed_cb':
/home/fl/tmp/network-manager-applet-0.9.4.1/src/applet.c:3258: undefined

reference to `nm_shell_watcher_version_at_least'
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status

I do not have the time and knowledge to fix this.

Further observations:
The bug didn't occur this time after starting gnome-shell, but the error
message in syslog as stated in the original report was there anyway;
that error seems to be something else obviously.

I can trigger the bug in the same way as described in the launchpad bug
entry, i.e.:

killall nm-applet
nm-applet

Then the VPN dialog is not opening anymore.

Hope that helps.

Bug#680988: scim: Scim stops working properly in Sid with latest version

I suppose it might be related to scim-gtk-immodule and scim-modules-socket
conflicting, or more exactly scim-gtk-immodule being unavailable and
 scim-modules-socket requiring to remove scim-gtk-immodule.

Yes. The version of scim-modules-socket and scim-gtk-immodule should
be the same as scim itself.

Also, the scim-anthy/scim-canna/scim-modules-table should be updated to
work with the latest scim. Could you please try the packages here?

http://www.csie.ntu.edu.tw/~tzhuan/debian/

I see there is a scim 1.4.14-1x1 in experimental, but as I understand from
the changelog, this version fixes a FTBS on other platforms than i386.
(although 1.4.14-1 seems to FTBS on my i386 platform as well)

There are some problems about the multi-arch path support and
they should be fixed now.

Thanks,
Tz-Huan

Upstream responded to the bug as follows:

It is not the role of xpra to deal with starting up the full X
environment, that is what tools like winswitch
  (http://winswitch.org/about) are for.

Of course, this is not work of xpra.
Where is winswitch packaged in debian, though?

If you must do it with xpra, you can always point --xvfb to a script
of your choosing that starts whatever you require (dbus, etc).

As for that the Debian X session script that starts Xsession.d scripts,
~/.xsessionrc, and possibly some other undocumented scripts I don't even
know of it cannot be used with xpra because it insists on starting a window
manager. Patching in a 'dummy' session in addition to 'failsafe' should
not be hard but that mode is afaik not available.

Thanks

 Dear Maintainer,

 I've just upgraded my eclipse, to find my plugins missing;
they were not active, and not in the installed software reports.

Hi,

This is a known issue #649878 / #587657 that we have not been able to
fix. A quick fix should be removing ~/.eclipse and then reinstalling
locally installed plugins.

Bug#681050: samba4: fails to configure when smb.conf is removed

2012-07-10 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Package: samba4
Version: 4.0.0~beta2+dfsg1-1
Severity: important

Hi,

in addition to the just-submitted bug report, the bit of advice one gets
when a ProvisionError happens is bad:
| ProvisioningError: guess_names: 'realm =' was not specified in supplied
/etc/samba/smb.conf. Please remove the smb.conf file and let provision
generate it

See:
| $ sudo mv /etc/samba/smb.conf ~/tmp/
| $ sudo dpkg --configure -a
| Setting up samba4 (4.0.0~beta2+dfsg1-1) ...
| Traceback (most recent call last):
| File /usr/share/samba/addshare.py, line 25, in module

| dpkg: error processing samba4 (--configure):
| subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
| Errors were encountered while processing:

So I touch'd it, and the same error as in the other report is happening
again (missing realm)…

Mraw,

Hello,

when a menu pops up from an element near the right or bottom screen edge
it pops up (mostly) off-screen.

On normal X server menus pop up in the visible screen area.

This happens a lot with Firefox since it has many elements with popup
menus along these screen edges.

Bug#681049: qa.debian.org: PTS shows older version of wordpress in todo box

2012-07-10 Thread Hor Jiun Shyong

Package: qa.debian.org
Severity: normal

The page for wordpress current shows:

todo

A new upstream version is available:3.4~rc2
http://wordpress.org/wordpress-3.4-RC2.tar.gz, you should consider packaging
it.

But the current version is newer than that.

2012-07-10 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Cyril Brulebois k...@debian.org (10/07/2012):
I don't think I ever tweaked anything samba related before now, so you
probably want to be a bit more tolerant WRT previous configuration
 files.

Given #681050, I tried another approach: dpkg --force-depends -P on
anything matching '*samba*' or '*smb*' on my system, then apt-get -f
install, and finally apt-get install samba4 again → same issue.

D'oh! :(

I guess something is wrong around here (as far as samba4 is concerned):

Bug#680505: desktop-base: Text has too low contrast with new Grub background

2012-07-10 Thread Fabian Greffrath

The background image looks nice in Grub2, but the text color really has
to be changed to something with better contrast with respect to the
background colors!

I'd vote for magenta as color for the highlighted text. I think it
also was like this when text-on-background was first introduced in
GRUB and magenta comes most close to the color of the Debian swirl.

Bug#681018: How about a shell function?

2012-07-10 Thread Dave Ewart
On Tuesday, 10.07.2012 at 02:45 +0200, Christoph Anton Mitterer wrote:

That could of course automatically add -n to wdiff,... if it's really
 needed.

It depends on your circumstances, but for use with colordiff it's
required in order to catch diffs which cross multiple lines. colordiff
processes each line as it reads it and thus the wdiff markers need to
appear on each line: that's what the -n option does; you can test this
by giving one of your test files a large paragraph of text which the
other lacks, compare the output of 'wdiff' against 'wdiff -n'. If your
changes are always small and reside within a single line, then 'wdiff'
and 'wdiff -n' return the same output.

Regarding the bug itself, I don't believe a separate colorwdiff is
required. I suggest a shell function instead of an alias, perhaps
something like this:

function wdiffc () { wdiff -n $@ | colordiff; }

That turns

wdiffc file1 file2

into

wdiff -n file1 file2 | colordiff

which works for me.

Is that what you're after, Christoph?

Dave.

Bug#656745: gnome-control-center: Region panel breaks LANG, breaks terminal charset, shows wrong languages

2012-07-10 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
2012/4/14 John Paul Adrian Glaubitz glaub...@physik.fu-berlin.de:
 Package: gnome-control-center
 Version: 1:3.2.2-2
 Followup-For: Bug #656745

I can confirm the incorrect behavior of the Region panel.

For me, it will always list:

 British English
 Chinese (simplified)
 English
 Spanish

This particular issue seems to be the result of a commit by Rodrigo
Moya that makes the Region tab always show specific languages if a GDM
localisation for them is installed on the system:

https://mail.gnome.org/archives/commits-list/2011-October/msg04043.html

Here, as a work-around, I installed the Debian package localepurge
which at least only leaves as available those localisations that I
actually want to see.

Regardless, the above code itself would need to be fixed, because it
auto-adds specific languages without making it possible to remove them
from the list using the Minus button, which is what would be the
expected behavior.

Also, rather than attempt to auto-add a multitude of languages to the
Region tab, the language selector pull-down list should be restored in
GDM; whoever recently removed it from there really needs to get their
brain checked.

IMHO, this looks just great and provides enough contrast against the
background image:

ALternatively, one could use black text on a magenta (not necessarily

 ❦ 10 juillet 2012 10:32 CEST, Jakub Wilk jw...@debian.org :

cdbs is using this snippet in python-distutils.mk:

find $(CURDIR) -prune -name '*.egg-info' -exec rm -rf '{}' ';'

find $(CURDIR) -prune is $(CURDIR) and does not match -name switch
and therefore nothing happens. I don't know why -prune is
 here. Maybe:

find $(CURDIR) -maxdepth 1 -name '*.egg-info' -exec rm -rf '{}' ';'

It's true that the original code is buggy, but I also don't think that
 cdbs should remove *.egg-info. It's not safe to do it unconditionally;
there are known cases of packages breaking if you do that.

 Please either:
 - reassign the bugs back to python-recaptcha, pycha and nevow
 - or change submitter to yourself.

I have already fixed the problem in those packages. Therefore, I go for
solution 2 but if you prefer solution 1, that's fine by me too.

Bug#681056: mdadm: segfault with --grow --continue

2012-07-10 Thread Sebastian Hegler
Package: mdadm
Version: 3.2.5-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Answering questions as per Debian suggestions:
* What led up to the situation?
Growing an MD RAID-6 array (md127), having to shut down the host.

* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)?
Assemble the array, notice that grow operation does not continue. Read manual,
notice there is an option like --grow --continue . Use this on the array.

* What was the outcome of this action?
mdadm segfaults.

* What outcome did you expect instead?
See the RAID array continue to grow.

I dl'ed mdadm-3.2.5 vanilla, and mdadm git. Both present the same behavior.
Compiling and running in gdb yields:

I suppose it might be related to scim-gtk-immodule and scim-modules-socket

 scim-modules-socket requiring to remove scim-gtk-immodule.

Yes. The version of scim-modules-socket and scim-gtk-immodule should

Also, the scim-anthy/scim-canna/scim-modules-table should be updated to

Bug#681060: abiword: Crash when copying Unicode text from Firefox

2012-07-10 Thread Peter De Wachter
Package: abiword
Version: 2.9.2+svn20120603-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Abiword crashes when pasting text from Iceweasel that contains
characters outside of the Unicode Basic Multilingual Plane.

To reproduce:
- Start Firefox/Iceweasel
- Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linear_B#Unicode
- Copy one of the characters from the Unicode table
- Paste in a new Abiword document.
(But Paste Unformatted doesn't crash.)

A backtrace is attached.

Bug#680742: Re: Bug#680742: Request: Reactivation of RoarAudio support in openal-soft

2012-07-10 Thread Philipp Schafft
flum Ansgar Burchardt,

(I'm not subscriped to this bug, if you have futur questions to me
please Cc me).

Given that Philipp Schafft plans to request removal of roaraudio from
Debian[1], I don't think it would be useful to revert this change.

I offered both ways: O and RM. The RM is *only* because the removed
dependencys (not only openal). If they are re-installed the reason for
the RM becomes invalid.

I will leave the Debian project anyway (currently pawing over packages
to new maintainers). But (not yet in public) there seems to a person
interested in taking it.

Also wasn't libroar-compat2 just lowered from a Recommends to a
Suggests? Or have there been further changes in addition to those
 mentioned in [2]?

I don't think so. Please also check the build-depends to be sure (they
likely need to include libroar-dev).

Thank you for your work and have a nice day :)

Bug#434570: A way to detect nfsroot

Hey,

I've just run into this bug as well. Is it possibly to
have /etc/init.d/mountnfs.sh could detect if nfsroot is being used.

Perhaps look if /proc/cmdline contains nfsroot= ? Or if ip= is set.

Cheers!

Bug#681019: colordiff doesn't colourise wdiff output in all cases

2012-07-10 Thread Dave Ewart
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

On Tuesday, 10.07.2012 at 01:52 +0200, Christoph Anton Mitterer wrote:

Not sure whether this is a bug or simply a not possible,
 but when using colordiff like:
 wdiff .bashrc_* | colordiff
on the two attached files... I get no colors.
It works on other files, though.

I suspect this is an edge case where the particular files you're diffing
have content which confuses colordiff's regex parser for wdiff markup.
The simple diff is:

$ /usr/bin/diff bashrc_*
60c60

PS1='${debian_chroot:+($debian_chroot)}\[\033[0;31m\]\u@\h\[\033[0m\]:\[\033[1;34m\]\w\[\033[0m\]\$
 '
- ---
 PS1='${debian_chroot:+($debian_chroot)}\[\033[0;32m\]\u@\h\[\033[0m\]:\[\033[1;34m\]\w\[\033[0m\]\$
  '

where one is looking for the 31m - 32m to be picked up, I presume.

Note first of all that wdiff is word diff and so the entire string
'PS1' to '$' will be considered a word. Therefore in this particular
example, even if the colour markup was working properly, you'd not get
much better output that using diff/colordiff (instead of wdiff), because
of the lack of spaces!

However, to address the actual issue: wdiff produces this output:

[-PS1='${debian_chroot:+($debian_chroot)}\[\033[0;31m\]\u@\h\[\033[0m\]:\[\033[1;34m\]\w\[\033[0m\]\$-]

{+PS1='${debian_chroot:+($debian_chroot)}\[\033[0;32m\]\u@\h\[\033[0m\]:\[\033[1;34m\]\w\[\033[0m\]\$+}
 '

which colordiff's parser fails to recognise as wdiff format, even when
forced with the option '--diff-type=wdiff'. I presume the existence of
'-', '+', '[' and '{' etc. in the text confuses the regex, specifically

colordiff.pl 1.0.10 lines 253 to 262 (for detection):

# wdiff deleted/added patterns
# should almost always be pairwaise?
elsif ($record =~ /\[-.*?-\]/s) {
$diff_type = 'wdiff';
last DIFF_TYPE;
}
elsif ($record =~ /\{\+.*?\+\}/s) {
$diff_type = 'wdiff';
last DIFF_TYPE;
}

and

colordiff.pl 1.0.10 lines 442 to 445 (for output):

elsif ($diff_type eq 'wdiff') {
$_ =~ s/(\[-[^]]*?-\])/$file_old$1$colour{off}/g;
$_ =~ s/(\{\+[^]]*?\+\})/$file_new$1$colour{off}/g;
}

I don't immediately see the fix, since I appear to be suffering from
regex blindness(!), but I'll record it here in case anyone else can spot
it.

Dave.

 Dear maintainers,

Relatively to the bug #680502 please consider the idea to put, for
any new stable release, the old themes in a new package named
 desktop-base-extra.

There are no reasons to purge an old theme who work well in a next release.

A cool theme deserves to be saved!

 Thanks in any case

There's a chance thaet the theme system will be changed for wheezy+1.

After the plan is in place (I actually mention moreblue and spacefun in
my draft here), the themes will be installable.

Failing that, I'll take a look at this bug again.

Hang tight :)

If you must do it with xpra, you can always point --xvfb to a script

As for that the Debian X session script that starts Xsession.d scripts,
~/.xsessionrc, and possibly some other undocumented scripts I don't even
know of it cannot be used with xpra because it insists on starting a window
manager. Patching in a 'dummy' session in addition to 'failsafe' should
not be hard but that mode is afaik not available.

Dunno.

Whenever the default zoom value of the compact mode is changed to anything

One has to modify it manually for each folder. The default values do work for
other view modes though.

This bug appeared in Gnome 3.x as far as I remember.

Bug#651795: linux-3.1 is not supported by upstream

2012-07-10 Thread Patrick Winnertz
severity 651795 wishlist
thanks

Hey,

as shown on the support matrix from whamcloud (or of lustre.org) linux
3.1 is not supported by upstream, thus the compilation of lustre-source
against the kernel source 3.1 is really allowed to fail here.

The correct title for this bug report should be: Support for linux 3.1
is missing. not that it fails to compile...

In order to use lustre you are supposed to grab your kernel source
either from SLES or from kernel.org and compile manually.

Greetings
Winnie

Still on the magenta trail, I found those two quite appealing as well:

(light)
COLOR_NORMAL=white/black

But I'll leave the final hard decision up to you. ;)

Bug#675513: libgeier0: loaded xmlsec library version is not compatible

2012-07-10 Thread Sascha Silbe
Package: libgeier0
Version: 0.13-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
Followup-For: Bug #675513

Dear Maintainer,

the purpose of libgeier is to send VAT reports to the IRS (or rather
the German equivalent). The xmlsec incompatibility issue makes that
impossible, so I'm raising the severity to grave.

Simply recompiling libgeier in Wheezy fixed the issue for me, too. So
all that's needed to fix it for Wheezy (which is frozen, so shouldn't
receive any incompatible libxmlsec1 updates AIUI) is to force a
rebuild of this package.

Kudos for maintaining this package, BTW!

Bug#681066: Botan 1.10.2 breaks ABI compatibility

2012-07-10 Thread Markus Wanner
Package: libbotan-1.10-0
Version: 1.10.2-1
Severity: critical

As Francis Russel pointed out on the Debian packaging mailing list for
monotone, it looks like Botan 1.10.2 broke ABI compatibility compared to
1.10.1, see here:
http://lists.nongnu.org/archive/html/monotone-debian/2012-07/msg0.html

I can confirm ABI compatibility between versions 1.10.1 and 1.10.2 of
Botan is not given. I've identified the cause, successfully tried a
work-around (patch attached) and contacted the upstream author(s), see
here:
http://lists.randombit.net/pipermail/botan-devel/2012-July/001624.html

With this bug report I hope to stop 1.10.2 from propagating further and
think upstream will soon release 1.10.3 (or take whatever other actions
they think are appropriate).

Bug#680772: vim: default completion menu highlight colors unreadable (PmenuSel)

Yes. I was thinking about omnifunc completion, but decided that path
completion will be easier and changed only half of message.

It works fine for me. What terminal are you using?

I use Konsole (KDE term app) as default terminal.
Now I have checked most terminal apps in repository. I have run
'vim -u NONE -U NONE -N' command as fresh user (with empty ~) to ensure that
~/.bashrc and ~/.Xresources do not affect it. Results:

terminalbg color vim bg bug exists
konsole blackdarkyes
xterm blacklight no
linux (TTY) blackdarkyes
urxvt whitelight no
kterm whitelight no
aterm blackdarkyes
Eterm black* darkyes
mlterm whitelight yes
lxterminal blacklight no
xfce4-terminal blacklight no
gnome-terminal whitelight no
roxterm whitelight no

* Eterm uses random dark image as default background

Pattern is clearly visible - if bg variable in vim is set to dark, then this
bug occurs. If it is set to light, then it does not. I can also change bg on
runtime (through 'set' command) to trigger it - xterm, kterm, aterm, mlterm,
gnome-terminal and roxterm will have unreadable PmenuSel if bg is set to
dark.

The only terminal not affected by this (PmenuSel readable when bg is either
light or dark) is urxvt. There must be something special about this app.

Hope that clear things a bit

Bug#681066: Botan 1.10.2 breaks ABI compatibility

2012-07-10 Thread Ondřej Surý
forwarded 681066
http://lists.randombit.net/pipermail/botan-devel/2012-July/001624.html
thank you

Well, we talked about that with Jack Lloyd before 1.10 release, and the goal was
to keep ABI stable for whole 1.10 release, so this is certainly a bug.

Thanks for forwarding that directly to upstream.

O.

As Francis Russel pointed out on the Debian packaging mailing list for
monotone, it looks like Botan 1.10.2 broke ABI compatibility compared to
 1.10.1, see here:
 http://lists.nongnu.org/archive/html/monotone-debian/2012-07/msg0.html

I can confirm ABI compatibility between versions 1.10.1 and 1.10.2 of
Botan is not given. I've identified the cause, successfully tried a
work-around (patch attached) and contacted the upstream author(s), see
 here:
 http://lists.randombit.net/pipermail/botan-devel/2012-July/001624.html

With this bug report I hope to stop 1.10.2 from propagating further and
think upstream will soon release 1.10.3 (or take whatever other actions
 they think are appropriate).

 Regards

Bug#648271: [debian-policy] 11.8.3 Packages providing a terminal emulator says xterm passes -e option straight to exec

Does that look like a good change to you? (If so, you may second

As the upstream author and deb maintainer of evilvte,
I think this new proposal is good enough for me.

I think x-terminal-emulator is used for a basically well-functioned
terminal emulator, not for a full xterm clone.

Some xterm-specific features are hard or never exist in some other
terminal emulators. Debian policy should limit its definition to the
most useful features, not to force other upstreams to rewrite a xterm.

Kind regards

Bug#681067: xmonad: fails to compile config file with gold

2012-07-10 Thread Albin Stjerna
Package: xmonad
Version: 0.10-4+b2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
Since a recent update, xmonad won't compile its xmonad.hs. The problem seems to
be with the Gold linker, because I get the following error:

Error detected while loading xmonad configuration file:
/home/albin/.xmonad/xmonad.hs
/usr/bin/ld.gold.real: --hash-size=31: unknown option
/usr/bin/ld.gold.real: use the --help option for usage information
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status

Apparently, there's a problem with the --hash-size switch. I guess this is
because my Gold version is too old, but any workaround while the newer version
of Gold makes its way to the wheezy repositories would be much welcomed.

Thanks in advance,
  Albin
