Why are you even trying to turn off sparse_superblocks? The only
reason why we have the option to turn it off is for compatibility with
kernels over a decade old. I'm half tempted to remove all trace of it

I hit the same. Today after I started my computer I had no audio at all.
I don't know the root cause, but I run as root
alsactl init
and it has helped.
I hope it help you too as workaround.

password length and have in fact written a wrapper that calls pwgen
with -y 10 always.

If you just want to set the classpath I suggest using jh_classpath
instead. The debian/package.classpath file contains one line per jar and
you don't have to care about the length of the lines:
