Hi

Please remove libzeromq-perl from unstable. It blocks the removal of
zeromq itself (#818998). The libzeromq-perl module is considered
deprecated upstream and will most likely not be ported to nwer zeromq
versions.

libmessage-passing-zeromq-perl can be removed as well.

Bug#824904: bugs.debian.org: auto-fix common usertags mistakes

Package: bugs.debian.org
Severity: wishlist

I'm currently running the attached script to report common issues with
the way some folks use BTS usertags, mostly simple things like using
debian.org instead of debian.rog. I think it would be more appropriate
for these fixes to be run automatically by the BTS or after manual
review by the BTS maintainers. This is the current list of corrections:

s/\.debian\.com$/.debian.org/

Bug#774765: ITP: php-oci8 -- Extension for Oracle Database

2016-05-20 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
[Mathieu Parent]
> Yes, of course: https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-php/php-oci8.git

Very good. I had a look at the debian/copyright files using debmake and
license-reconcile, and both reported no serious issue with it. So that
part should be solid enough.

Could there be a license issue with some Oracle libraries? Are they
non-free? What is the license of the combined work?

> Ask this to the ftpteam ...

Right. Sound a bit like the situation we had with zfs. I do not have
much direct contact with the ftpmasters team, but will see what I can
do. :)

Bug#824903: letsencrypt.sh: Letsencrypt.sh broken due to "pretty" json used in Let's Encrypt API

2016-05-20 Thread David Kuehling
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

Package: letsencrypt.sh
Version: 0.1.0-2~bpo8+1
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/letsencrypt.sh

Hi,

I'm testing this using the backports package, but I guess the problem
applies to sid as well (same version).

Recently letsencrypt.org changed to return pretty json with lots of
newlines (as tested via
https://acme-staging.api.letsencrypt.org/directory). This breaks
various sed-based json parsing code in the distributed version of
letsencrypt.sh .

The symptom is that 'letsencrypt.sh --cron' silently exits after
printing

  + Requesting challenge for

Aborting before completing the challenge.

Looking at trace output from

   bash -x -c 'source /usr/bin/letsencrypt.sh --cron'

It obviously fails to extract the challenge from json output due to

  sed -n 's/.*\("challenges":[^\[]*\[[^]]*]\).*/\1/p'

expecting the hole match to be on a single line. Somebody reported the
issue upstream on May 18th:

  https://github.com/lukas2511/letsencrypt.sh/pull/202

The "official" fix is here:

https://github.com/lukas2511/letsencrypt.sh/commit/561f0626b855ec4ee94856884e2f1eff9ade2d88

cheers,

David

Bug#824902: tar: -X / --exclude-from silent failure

2016-05-20 Thread Ben Caradoc-Davies
Package: tar
Version: 1.29-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

the -X / --exclude-from option silently fails in 1-29-1. Consider this example
(see attached tar file):

The file "includes" contains:

base

The file "excludes" contains:

dir-2
dir-glob-*

With tar 1.28-2.2, the patterns listed in "excludes" are applied:

$ tar zcvvfTX - includes excludes > /dev/null
drwxrwx--- ben/ben 0 2016-05-21 14:39 base/
drwxrwx--- ben/ben 0 2016-05-21 14:40 base/dir-1/
-rw-rw ben/ben 0 2016-05-21 14:40 base/dir-1/file-1

With tar 1.29-1, nothing is excluded:

$ tar zcvvfTX - includes excludes > /dev/null
drwxrwx--- ben/ben 0 2016-05-21 14:39 base/
drwxrwx--- ben/ben 0 2016-05-21 14:40 base/dir-glob-2/
-rw-rw ben/ben 0 2016-05-21 14:40 base/dir-glob-2/file-glob-2
drwxrwx--- ben/ben 0 2016-05-21 14:40 base/dir-glob-1/
-rw-rw ben/ben 0 2016-05-21 14:40 base/dir-glob-1/file-glob-1
drwxrwx--- ben/ben 0 2016-05-21 14:40 base/dir-2/
-rw-rw ben/ben 0 2016-05-21 14:40 base/dir-2/file-2
drwxrwx--- ben/ben 0 2016-05-21 14:40 base/dir-1/
-rw-rw ben/ben 0 2016-05-21 14:40 base/dir-1/file-1

I note that this option no longer appears in the 1.29-1 man page, but I could
not find anything in the upstream changelogs:
1.29: https://savannah.gnu.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=8545
1.28 https://savannah.gnu.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=8037

Kind regards,
Ben.

Thank you for announcing your intent to package this. I'm interested
in helping, would you like a co-maintainer?

Will you track the Debian packaging in a VCS on Alioth or elsewhere?

Thanks,

But I don't think I need to write a documentation how to setup

setup to get working.

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
I ran apt-get upgrade and nvi was upgraded.

I tried to run a bash script that I was editing (my standard proctice).
   * What was the outcome of this action?
The script would not run.
AH01215: (26)Text file busy: exec of 'message-get' failed

   * What did you do next?
Rolled back nvi to the 1.79-26 version
   * What did you do after that?

Sorry, ignore this. I confused the symlink destination.
Symlinking all known profiles to /usr/bin/firejail would indeed be possible.
Though it would behave differently than expected when the tool is not
installed (launching firejail instead of erroring with "No such file ...").

As you can see, on NetBSD, mmmap with a hint will always return memory
in the requested region, even if the memory has already been allocated
before. On Linux, the hint is ignored when the memory pointed to by it
is already allocated.

Hm, the problem with this approach is that packages are not allowed to
modify /usr/local(/bin) on their own, so firecfg can't be called by a
dpkg trigger.

Placing the symlinks somewhere else (like /usr/lib/firejail/) with dpkg
triggers would work, but the user would have to amend PATH (as currently
only /usr/local/bin comes before the other binary paths), though this
would be a one-time configuration.

I think another reason is that firecfg can't know where the binary will
eventually be installed (/sbin, /usr/bin, /usr/games, ...).

Bug#824853: tex-common: package installation fails

2016-05-20 Thread Scott Mcdermott
Installing the package 'context' (which also provides
"syst-tex.mkii" albeit in a different location) seems
to fix this also; tex packages upgrade and can finish
install without issues afterwards.

Apparently upstream got aarch64 support in December
with commit 6c7c516edfabd2edc835d0aaad39f946164bb25d

git://github.com/bradfitz/sys-syscall

The sigmask arg for epoll_pwait is just ignored if NULL.

Bug#824897: Minimum brightness turns screen black

2016-05-20 Thread philipw

Package: gnome-settings-daemon
Version: 3.14.2-3

Sorry I'm not very technical, I couldn't even get reportbug to work
properly on the terminal.

All I want is the brightness setting to be fixed, right now the lowest
setting just turns my screen black. You can refer to here:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=744278

I'm using the latest stable debian.

Thanks marking accordingly
Running apt-file search I get (possibly) affected packages:

$ apt-file search /usr/share/themes/ | grep gtk-3.0 | cut -f1 -d':' |
sort -u

clearlooks-phenix-theme - #821423
elementary-theme
gnome-accessibility-themes
gnome-themes-standard-data - not affected
gtk3-engines-breeze - #824893
gtk3-engines-xfce - #824892
libgtk-3-common - not affected
mate-themes
murrine-themes
sugar-themes

There is also
gtk3-engines unico

It would be great could check those themes/engines and file bug reports
if they are affected. I don't use any themes aside from Adwaita, so I
wouldn't recognize any breakage.

Btrfs-progs is not GPL-2+. It is predominantly and explicitly GPL-2,
with some GPL-2+, some LGPL-2, and some GPL-3. GPL-2 and GPL-3 are
not compatible, so this is serious.

Bug#824895: [PATCH] warn against likely data loss

2016-05-20 Thread Nicholas D Steeves
Package: btrfs-progs
Version: 4.5.2-1
Tags: patch

Because btrfs-convert is known to fail, and is known to causes
data-loss that may take some months to manifest, we must provide a
warning, because data-loss is serious. This patch also includes a
contrib initramfs hook which is installed to
/usr/share/doc/btrfs-progs; it must be manually copied into place;
I've included it because this is the first place a sophisticated user
would look.

I've filed bug reports at #824892 and #824893 but I don't think simply
declaring Breaks: can be considered as "solving the problem", and you shouldn't
mark that as closing this bug.

It's bad behaviour, both from an engineering and a community-friendliness point
of view, to break other projects like this. Linux makes a firm commitment to
avoid breaking their clients (userspace), and GTK should do the same too.

To quote the blog post - "Oh NO! they’re breaking themes again! Which is
certainly one way to look at it, but I think it misses the point a little bit"
- no, to think that this "misses the point" is *itself* _missing the point_.
Yes software improves and changes, but we don't make these things in an
isolated vacuum and there are real consequences outside of our projects. The
real consequence here is the time wasted by external themers trying to maintain
compatibility.

This breakage is done in the name of saving people's time, but I doubt if this
is really true as the code currently stands. Documentation is crucial for
time-saving, yet there's been little attention to that.

Bug#824449: firefox: FTBFS on sparc64 due to wrong platform definitions

2016-05-20 Thread John Paul Adrian Glaubitz
Hi!

Some more updates:

Jose Marchesi from Oracle has provided me with two old patches that
were used to address the problem with Firefox 17.

Those patches are:

- xulrunner-linux-sparc64-xpcom.patch
- xulrunner-linux-sparc64.patch

Those patches didn't apply anymore right away. I had to update some
paths (src was omitted in some cases), plus the two following
changes:

1. I adjusted the padding in JSTryNote so it would be 64-bit aligned
again as Firefox 46 changed stackDepth from uint16_t to uint32_t.

2. The patch to memory/jemalloc/src/include/jemalloc/internal
/jemalloc_internal.h.in can't be applied anymore at all, even
with editing. The code section is gone.

With these changes included, the new patch (sparc64-fixes.patch)
applies without problems but compiling Firefox will still crash
xpcshell:

(sid)root@deb4g:/build/firefox-ORgwZM/firefox-46.0.1# export

Dear Maintainer,

GTK 3.20 has updated their themes as described in this blog post

https://blogs.gnome.org/mclasen/2015/11/20/a-gtk-update/

Unfortunately this breaks the themes contained in this package, and it should
be updated to match 3.20.

Separately, I've already filed a bug report to GTK+3 at #824891 describing this
- if you wish you can also comment there with any questions or suggestions on
how they can make your life easier, this or next time.

I don't have a more detailed documentation than that, sorry.

Your best option is probably to poke the upstream developer directly,
e.g. via IRC (#gtk+ on irc.gnome.org) or the upstream mailing list at

bytecode.cvd? You mean that you need a sig database for malware testing?
Becase if you need something to test against the samples provided by

Thanks - this is the sort of stuff that would be nice to have in NEWS.

And is there some more detailed documentation on how those themes should fix
themselves? The "What do you have to do" section is fairly minimal and I can't
see how to fix the specific issues from my screenshots. I have actually already
tried updating the selectors (at least the ones that gtk complains about on
stderr) and that didn't solve those.

It's not 3.20 which is broken but the themes which need an update. So
delaying the upload of 3.20 wouldn't help.

Yup, I'm beginning to think it'd be good if Debian reverted to 3.18 until
3.20 is less broken. The latter will be great when it's ACTUALLY ready -
but right now, it's a rushed-out, poorly tested mess in various areas.
Maybe they felt meeting some deadline took precedence over actually testing
everything.

Including my application, which was going so well until 3.20 arrived... sigh

Please file bug reports against those themes to get them updated for
Gtk+ 3.20 [1] and report back with the bug numbers. This way we can add

yes, as Mattia said to me, starting with Bug: means that this is a followup
to a current
bug so submit won't open a new one.

each sublibrary has its headers and its libraries, so you need just the minimum
set
needed.
(pbuilder is happy on a clean environment)

I still don't get why having two licenses.
you need a LICENSE file inside your tarball, with the license text inside,
otherwise the package will be probably rejected.

and it is fine to have *everything* under GPL-2+

wonderful!

please let me know!

Subject: Bug#600336: rhythmbox: Claims audio device all for itself

This bug was reported against a very old version of pulseaudio.

Do you still see this issue in the current version in stable?

I'm still running testing, but I don't see the issue anymore. I first
had to find out which package has 'play' though and I found out it was
'sox'. After installing it and playing something, I found it plays fine
with and without Rhythmbox running.

So I guess somehow the problem is solved or became irrelevant.

Bug#798636: Puppet 4 is now in experimental

2016-05-20 Thread Stig Sandbeck Mathisen

I've just uploaded puppet 4.5.0-1 to Debian experimental.

There is one problem with puppet 4 and packaged puppet modules. If I
install puppet 4, packaged puppet modules (puppet-module-*) are
deinstalled.

This is caused by a dependency on a minimum version of puppet-common, or
a dependency on "puppet-module-puppetlabs-stdlib" which has such a
dependency.

The "puppet" package has "Provides: puppet-common", but this does not
satisfy a versioned dependency.

Some packaged puppet modules use "Depends: puppet-common (>= 3)", and
installing puppet 4 will cause these packages to be uninstalled.

These need to be updated to "Depends: puppet (>= 4) | puppet-common (>=
3)" before puppet 4 should be uploaded to Debian unstable:

  puppet-module-asciiduck-sssd (>= 3)
  puppet-module-puppetlabs-apt (>= 3)
  puppet-module-puppetlabs-concat (>= 3)
  puppet-module-puppetlabs-inifile (>= 3)
  puppet-module-puppetlabs-ntp (>= 3)
  puppet-module-puppetlabs-postgresql (>= 3)
  puppet-module-puppetlabs-stdlib (>= 3)
  puppet-module-saz-memcached (>= 3)

I'll upload new versions of these shortly, with the dependencies fixed.

The other packaged puppet modules use "Depends: puppet-common". These
should be updated to "Depends: puppet (>= 4) | puppet-common" at some
point.

Bug#824885: override: debconf-i18n:localization/important

2016-05-20 Thread Ansgar Burchardt
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

[ For after the d-i alpha currently in preparation ]

Please consider demoting debconf-i18n from required to important.
debconf now only recommends it instead of having a strict dependency
and i18n support isn't required in minimal installations.

This should also allow demoting several perl modules:
libtext-iconv-perl, libtext-wrapi18n-perl, libtext-charwidth-perl (or
demoting those even to "optional" with the reasoning given in #758234)

The error looks suspiciously identical to the error I just fixed, and I

that build environment of the failure has cdbs 0.4.137 installed?

the network without running as root and performance features like improved
CPU Idle detection on the vax emulator and floating point on the pdp-11.

The current Beta of version 4.0 may also be a reasonable update.

Ohh, in _gtk+3.0_ - ok. Still bad (ideally cdbs would have huge
testsuite to catch all such things), but not as embarrassing as if the
_same_ package was still failing.

Bug#818642:

2016-05-20 Thread Adrián Chaves Fernández
I stumbled upon this issue packaging for Chakra. Comparing the Arch Linux
PKGBUILD to ours, I found out that the issue was that I was building the
package in a clean build folder (cd build, cmake ..), and it seems that the
package only suceeds if build on the source package directly (cmake .).
Hope it helps!

evolution-data-server was uploaded in the mean time.
I also made sourceful uploads of evolution, evolution-ews and evolution-rss.

Due to some unfortunate timing, evolution-rss on armel did pick up a
dependency on evolution 3.18.

Emilio, could you please schedule a binNMU for evolution-rss on armel
with a dw on evolution-dev (>= 3.20).

Thanks,

Bug#824841: libgtk-3-0: Properly include upstream changelog

2016-05-20 Thread Ximin Luo
Yes, that was a typo. Fortunately my bug subject line was correct and also I
referred to the upstream changelog by the correct filename.

Could you add this address

https://git.gnome.org/browse/gtk+

in addition to the current "fake" upstream changelog, please?

I also strongly recommend adding the actual upstream git log into
debian/upstream/changelog - for example like how many xul-ext-* packages do.
Especially since upstream git is almost 300MiB in size - it would save users
and volunteers a great deal of time if we could just read it directly, instead
of needing a fast and stable internet connection, and waiting for a few
minutes. Then there is the extra step of figuring out which git tag to use, to
avoid seeing commits not relevant to the currently-installed version. All of
these steps do not make for a pleasant debugging experience especially when my
UI is fucked.

A git checkout and git-log is required to generate this file

Please fix this - if necessary by generating the changelog from git and
repacking the Debian "orig" tarball to include this generated version.

Otherwise it makes bug tracking much harder.

Bug#824882: libgl2ps0 unexpectedly provides libgl2ps.so.1

2016-05-20 Thread Mike Miller
Package: libgl2ps0
Version: 1.3.8-2
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 8.1

The libgl2ps0 package now installs libgl2ps.so.1.3.8 with soname
libgl2ps.so.1. This is a policy violation, either the patch that
introduced this change must be undone restoring .so.0, or the package
must be renamed to do a proper library transition.

I see the new upstream version in experimental provides the properly
named libgl2ps1 package. So a possible resolution would be to upload
1.3.9 to unstable.

Bug#824874: octave: Installation fails due to linking against old version of libgl2ps (.so.0 vs. so.1)

2016-05-20 Thread Phil Miller
I went looking at gl2ps. The version in experimental bumps the package name
to match the soname. Maybe just copy and reassign this bug there so that
the current version that breaks dependencies doesn't transition to testing.

Seems like it to me. Looks like this version of gl2ps either needs a fix
or a transition.

Bug#824880: RM: partitioner -- ROM; obsolete

2016-05-20 Thread Aurelien Jarno
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

All the (sub)-architectures which required the partitioner package in
debian-installer are not supported anymore. Therefore this package is
not used anymore during the installation process, though it get
downloaded anyway.

Bug#824879: elasticsearch-curator debian/patches/ causing build problems.

2016-05-20 Thread Volchak, Zakhar (Zach)
Package: elasticsearch-curator
Version: 3.5.1-1

When trying to build this package with "debuild -uc -us", it throws
an error that is caused by the debian/patches/ of this version. Of
what I understand, the patch is being applied in the previous
version, but patches/ was not removed in the current version.
Thus, when trying to build, dpkg-buildpackage is trying to apply
patch that is already applied and throws an error.:

dpkg-source: info: the patch has fuzz which is not allowed, or is malformed
dpkg-source: info: if patch 'setup.py-read-README-utf-8' is correctly applied
by quilt, use 'quilt refresh' to update it
dpkg-source: error: LC_ALL=C patch -t -F 0 -N -p1 -u -V never -g0 -E -b -B
.pc/setup.py-read-README-utf-8/ --reject-file=- <
source.orig.hFq4PZ/debian/patches/setup.py-read-README-utf-8 gave error exit
status 1

Seems like removing debian/patches/ folder preserves the changes
of the patch and is able to build successfully. (running 'quilt refresh'
didn't solve the problem)

I am using "debuild 2.15.3" and "lintian v2.5.30+deb8u4"

Bug#824878: targetcli: Sensitive information exposed in configuration and backup files

2016-05-20 Thread Christoph Scheurer
Package: targetcli
Version: 1:3.0~pre4.1~ga55d018-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

the configuration file /etc/target/scsi_target.lio as well as backups in
/var/target/ are created with permissions 644 (also depending on root's umask,
of course). These files contain the clear text password(s) for
target/initiator (mutual) authentication. Please, adjust the defaults, so
these files will never be world readable, independent of root's umask setting.

Thanks!

Ch. Scheurer

Bug#824876: Please drop (or demote) recommends on texlive-doc-nonfree"

2016-05-20 Thread Michael Biebl
Package: texinfo
Version: 6.1.0.dfsg.1-6
Severity: normal

Hi,

I've just tried to dist-upgrade (for testing purposes) a pretty minimal
Jessie image to Stretch.
This upgrade wanted to install an additional 600MB of packages.

I tracked this down to a newly added Recommends
texlive-fonts-recommended in texinfo.

texinfo is basically installed on every system here, so I will get this
on every system I'll upgrade, even headless servers.

Please consider dropping that recommends or demoting it to suggests.

Thanks,
Michael

Indeed it seems that this was taken from the SKELETON, which is wrong:
https://bugs.debian.org/710559
I. e. handling of VERBOSE should be done by lsb_* themselves, and
vars.sh is an internal implementation detail of sysvinit.

Martin

Bug#824875: /etc/init.d/grub-common uses file from initscripts without a dependency

2016-05-20 Thread Martin Pitt
Package: grub-common
Version: 2.02~beta2-36
Tags: patch
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com
Usertags: origin-ubuntu ubuntu-patch yakkety

There is some ongoing effort to stop installing "initscripts" by
default, as it's not necessary under systemd [1].

I noticed that without initscripts, the only failed service at boot is
/etc/init.d/grub-common:

| ● grub-common.service - LSB: Record successful boot for GRUB
|Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/grub-common; bad; vendor preset: enabled)
|Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Fr 2016-05-20 18:17:46 CEST; 23s
ago
| Docs: man:systemd-sysv-generator(8)
| Process: 761 ExecStart=/etc/init.d/grub-common start (code=exited, status=2)
|
| Mai 20 18:17:46 donald systemd[1]: Starting LSB: Record successful boot for
GRUB...
| Mai 20 18:17:46 donald grub-common[761]: /etc/init.d/grub-common: 17: .:
Can't open /lib/init/vars.sh
| Mai 20 18:17:46 donald systemd[1]: grub-common.service: Control process
exited, code=exited status=2
| Mai 20 18:17:46 donald systemd[1]: Failed to start LSB: Record successful
boot for GRUB.
| Mai 20 18:17:46 donald systemd[1]: grub-common.service: Unit entered failed
state.
| Mai 20 18:17:46 donald systemd[1]: grub-common.service: Failed with result
'exit-code'.

Indeed /etc/init.d/grub-common unconditionally sources /lib/init/vars.sh
without depending on initscripts. Of course we don't actually want to add this
dependency, but robustify the init.d script to get along without vars.sh.

It only uses this to conditionalize the log_action_msg call. I think
this is unjustified -- the backend/consumer of these log messages,
(like plymouth or just console) should decide what to do with the
messages, and most other packages that I know unconditionally do the
log_* LSB calls.

I attach a patch which removes the /lib/init/vars.sh sourcing and thus
the initscripts dependency.

Thanks,

Martin

thankfully i'm neither a php person but i have to admit^w^w^wam glad to

So yeah, the above are probably syntax errors (or undefined) as it calls
a function where an array lookup is required.

There's also another error in the first statement, which is missing an
&& if (isset($_POST['delete_forwarder']))
statement.

Fixed this patch becomes:
