Well, this is a missing implementation in libc. Perhaps some parts of
faketime work without it, but I don't think faketime wants to circumvent
the missing implementation.

This is a bug in pigeonhole 0.4.22. Upstream seems to have fixed it,
I'll apply the patch. Meanwhile you can downgrade to 1:2.2.34 *-1* from
snapshots.debian.org which had pigeonhole 0.4.21, not suffering from
this bug.

As the manpage says, options to the iwlist scanning command are
card-dependent, and ignored by most drivers. It seems that your wireless
card or the driver for your wireless card does not support scanning for
a single ESSID.

Changes since the last upload:

  * Team upload.

Run sbuild first, then sbuild --extra-package

Dear Maintainer,

What led up to the situation?
trying to use iwlist, and limit output to a specific ssid

What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
Testing was consistent, it appears the essid parameter is completely ignored

What was the outcome of this action?
Command # iwlist wlan0 scanning essid sample
multiple cells returned but ssid sample is only one cell matching

What outcome did you expect instead?
A single cell, and only a single cell should be returned

On a presumably related note, ignition-cmake is still at 0.3.0 here,
due to some sort of problems with the Ruby stack. Please specifically

Bug#892146: linux-latest: linux-image-* should suggest linux-doc

2018-03-05 Thread John Scott
Source: linux-latest
Version: 4.14+89
Severity: wishlist

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA512

To best explain why I think this is warranted, I propose my system
as an example. I have linux-image-amd64 installed, and right now in
Buster, that depends on linux-image-4.14.0-3-amd64. That package
suggests linux-doc-4.14, but when linux-image-amd64 migrates to a
newer version like 4.15, linux-doc-4.14 will probably be autoremoved,
and linux-doc-4.15 won't install itself.

For the same reason that versioned Linux images suggest their
versioned documentation, it makes that Linux image metapackages
suggest the linux-doc metapackage.

Package: undertime

It would be nice to be able to specify different start/end times for
the highlights for each timezone, since different meeting participants
might have different requirements on times.

One meeting participant might work during the day but be available in

be available during their breakfast period.

I was thinking this might be a good way to do it but then I was
thinking about having multiple availability periods for each timezone,
but that might be conflating multiple feature requests into one :)

Severity: wishlist

Please check for packages with relationships with packages that provide
the virtual package mail-transport-agent but don't also have a
relationship with the virtual package mail-transport-agent.

In other words, lintian should look in the apt cache to find out which
packages provide the virtual package mail-transport-agent and then
check if the package has any relationship with those packages but
doesn't also have a relationship with mail-transport-agent.

In addition, lintian will need to hard-code exim4 as a package that
provides the virtual package mail-transport-agent even though it does
not do that, because it depends on two exim4 variants that do.

Please check for packages that have a relationship with the virtual
package mail-transport-agent but do not prefer the virtual package
default-mta to m-t-a or any other packages.

In other words, default-mta and mail-transport-agent should only ever
be in a set of alternatives, must both be in that set and default-mta
should be the first package in the set.

Thanks! This is non-normative, so a policy editor can just make the
change.

How about this patch? It should be possible to apply by downloading
this message as an mbox and using "git am --scissors mbox-file".

Bug#892142: debian-policy: update example to use default-mta instead of exim

2018-03-05 Thread Paul Wise
Package: debian-policy
Version: 4.1.3.0
Severity: minor

In Policy 7.1. Syntax of relationship fields, there is an example:

For example, a list of dependencies might appear as:

   Package: mutt
   Version: 1.3.17-1
   Depends: libc6 (>= 2.2.1), exim | mail-transport-agent

I would like to suggest that this be updated to replace exim with
default-mta, since exim is no longer in Debian as it has been replaced
with exim4 and many years ago we switched to using the default-mta
virtual package to make it easier to change the default MTA on Debian.

Since urlwatch uses Python 3, I think urlwatch should be
suggesting the
Python 3 html2text and vobject modules.

I don't think urlwatch should just suggest sendmail, since
it is not the only MTA in Debian. Please use this instead:

Will do. I need to get the NAS back to running Scratch as I went back to Jessie

soon as I can.

Also, I can confirm that I was indeed copying from an external USB disk with

This issue has bitten me at least twice so far.

This issue's history seems to be bogged down on whether interfaces(5) can be
mode 0600 (to hide the cleartext passphrase).
This is not necessary; the passphrase can go in a separate file.

Here is a minimal config, assuming WPA2 PSK (not Enterprise) and DHCP (not
static) for all SSIDs:

cat >/etc/network/interfaces <"/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant-$iface.conf"
chmod 0600 "/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant-$iface.conf"

If you don't want to udebify wpa_passphrase, you can do it by hand:

cat >"/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant-$iface.conf"

I've got the symbols files set up now.

By the way, while talking to upstream I've seen that they refer to this
library as OCCT pretty exclusively [1] (see also Wikipedia [2]). Since
this will be replacing OpenCASCADE Community Edition (liboce-*), I was
thinking it would be nice to save everyone some typing by renaming my
work so far to use libocct-* instead of libopencascade-*. It's kind of
late in the game to do this, I suppose, but I know at least *my* fingers
would appreciate it. Thoughts?

Bug#886852: NVidia driver : upgrade to version 384.111

2018-03-05 Thread Vincent Lefevre
It appears that while the bug was fixed in unstable
(384.111-1 -> 384.111-4), a new buggy version has just been uploaded
to unstable (387.34-4), as detected by apt-listbugs. Indeed, this bug
is marked as found in 387.34-1, but there's no fixed version for 387.*:

Found in versions nvidia-graphics-drivers/387.34-1,
nvidia-graphics-drivers/343.22-1, nvidia-graphics-drivers/375.82-1~deb9u1

Fixed in versions nvidia-graphics-drivers/384.111-1,
nvidia-graphics-drivers/390.12-1,
nvidia-graphics-drivers-legacy-340xx/340.106-1,
nvidia-graphics-drivers-legacy-340xx/340.106-2~deb9u1

So, either this bug should be reopened, or if this is an error in
the above metadata, they should be corrected.

Bug#892136: /usr/bin/loimpress: Libreoffice Impress sometimes silently deletes a slide from the presentation

2018-03-05 Thread Wojciech Zabołotny
Package: libreoffice-impress
Version: 1:6.0.1-1
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/loimpress

Dear Maintainer,

Since certain upgrade (maybe one year ago or so), the Impress silently
deletes slides during the edition.
I can't isolate the problem. Usually I notice it only after a longer
edition,
when I see, that my presentation contains less slides than it should
contain.
Probably certain user activity (a special dragging the slides in the left
pannel, or using a special key sequence?) causes Impress to delete a
slide without any warning or confirmation request.
I find this feature (or bug?!) extremely dangerous. Usually i have to
make a backup of my presentation before any serious edition. I have
irreversibly destroyed a few of my presentations by deleting random
slides, before I have discovered that behaviour.
It should be possible to switch an obligatory warning/confirmation request
before any deletion of a slide or group of slides.

With best regards,
Wojtek

Bug#854980: kwin-x11: In multisession (all graphical) w/ desktop effects, kwin tends to crash sessions randomly on nvidia hardware

2018-03-05 Thread Nuno Oliveira

* Nuno Oliveira  [2018-03-05 21:54]:

Hi,

I also get random crashes of kwin-x11 with the nvidia binary driver.
They appear easily (but not always) when using qupzilla for web

I believe this behaviour also occurred with the previous kwin-x11
package version. On machines with the intel video driver, I have not
observed any crashes.

Bug#892134: RFS: pass-otp/1.1.0-1 [ITP]

2018-03-05 Thread Philip Rinn
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: wishlist

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package "pass-otp"

* Package name: pass-otp
  Version : 1.1.0-1
  Upstream Author : Tad Fisher
* URL : https://github.com/tadfisher/pass-otp
* License : GPL-3+
  Section : admin

It builds those binary packages:

pass-extension-otp - pass extension for managing one-time-password tokens

To access further information about this package, please visit the following
URL:

https://mentors.debian.net/package/pass-otp

Alternatively, one can download the package with dget using this command:

  dget -x https://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/p/pass-otp/pass-
otp_1.1.0-1.dsc

You can also find the packaging on salsa.debian.org:

https://salsa.debian.org/rinni-guest/pass-otp

[I'd love to move it to the Debian group before upload and add the Vcs-* fields
in d/control]

I packaged pass-otp as it's a very convenient way to use one-time-passwords on
Debian. Personally I use it as a backup solution as I'm a little afraid of
relying only on an Android app.

The long description of the package is:

An extension for the password manager pass that allows adding one-time-password
(OTP) secrets, generating OTP codes, and displaying secret key URIs using the
standard otpauth:// scheme.

Regards,

Philip

Bug#892131: gem2deb: generates spurious dependencies on ruby

2018-03-05 Thread Sven Joachim
Package: gem2deb
Version: 0.38
Severity: important

In the last binNMU of redland-bindings, both librdf-perl and
python-librdf gained a dependency on ruby (<< 1:2.6~). This cannot be
right, since these packages have nothing to do with ruby whatsoever.

Most likely the fix for #889470 is responsible for this, but I know
nothing about ruby.

Dear Maintainer,

I run a few Qt apps in the Mate desktop environment. When I run `qtconfig` on

When I use apt-file to search for "bin/qtconfig" I get:

qt4-qtconfig: /usr/bin/qtconfig-qt4
qt4-qtconfig: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt4/bin/qtconfig
qtchooser: /usr/bin/qtconfig

so the error message above from "qtchooser" is pointing to an executable that
does

gnustep-netclasses, rsskit, dbuskit, etc.) are installed in
/usr/lib/GNUstep/Frameworks with symlinks in /usr/lib:

$ ls -la /usr/lib/libDBusKit.so*

Debhelper's dh_makeshlibs correctly adds the ldconfig trigger for such

erroneously emits the warning.

Hello Vincent,
thanks for your bug report.

Since

  $ dpkg -S /usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/soap/mapping/encodedregistry.rb
  ruby-soap4r: /usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/soap/mapping/encodedregistry.rb

we can conclude that the warnings come from the ruby-soap4r library.

And indeed, a bug report (#889713) had already been filed against
package ruby-soap4r and closed by an upload to Debian unstable
(ruby-soap4r/2.0.5-4).

I am reassigning your bug report to package ruby-soap4r, with the
intention to merge it with #889713...

Bye.

Bug#831017: off by one error when line editing

2018-03-05 Thread astian
Control: tags -1 + patch

This is caused by a non-printable character (meant to be interpreted by
the terminal) stuffed in the prompt string given to GNU readline.

It should have been enclosed in RL_PROMPT_START_IGNORE/RL_PROMPT_END_IGNORE
pairs. "fix-readline-related-bug.patch" does that. It is a Scheme-only
fix, but it's not ideal because it hardcodes libreadline constants.
Ideally, "Iedline.scm" would get eval-ed in an environment where C code
has made the constants (from ) available. This way
the constants are not hardcoded in the source code and the Scheme
namespace is not polluted with implementation details. Alas, I could
not figure out how to try-load some Scheme code from C with a prepared
environment.

While reading some of the code I found what *might* be 2 other
(unrelated) bugs. See "add-missing-edit-line-feature.patch" and
"fix-argument-imm-being-ignored-in-m_letstar1.patch".

Cheers.

Like "m_letrec1", "m_letstar1" is used in the implementation of various

Bug#892126: glibc: stage1 build failure due to missing multilib lib-names-*.h

2018-03-05 Thread Helmut Grohne
Source: glibc
Version: 2.27-1
User: helm...@debian.org
Usertags: rebootstrap

Hi Aurelien,

I need a bug number for tracking this issue, so I am filing this bug
summarizing the problem and recording my knowledge.

Building glibc with DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nocheck DEB_BUILD_PROFILES=stage1
presently fails (even natively) on architectures with multilib packages.
The symptom always is that some variant of a multilib lib-names-*.h goes
missing in the packaging part of the installation procedure recently
added.

The headers in question are not generated during a (stage1) build and a
gcc stage2 (the only relevant user) does not use them. I verified that
simply not installing them makes a bootstrap of e.g. mips work again:

sed -i -e 's#debian/tmp-.*/usr/include/gnu/lib-names.*\.h#$(if $(filter
stage1,$(DEB_BUILD_PROFILES)),,&)#' debian/sysdeps/*.mk

Now I am not asking you to include this fix (thus not adding a patch
tag), because we both know it is ugly, but I am recording the workaround
to improve our understanding. It confirms our intuition that the same
workaround as for gnu/stubs.h should be applicable here. My attempts at
implementing that properly weren't fruitful thus far. So all I can do
now is document the problem.

Helmut

Why would you ever go through this PITA process?

What are you trying to accomplish by forcing a rename?

My AM reviewed your package and found two things :

- in d/control, the line X-Python3-Version is useless (stable has that
already!) -- easy to fix, wouldn't get the package rejected ;

- in d/copyright, "Check the website for the full list." would get the
package rejected : either put the full list, or leave the one name you
already have (and is the one given in setup.py)

Afterwards I saw other problems:

- in d/control, your Vcs-* fields should point to where the packaging is
managed, not to upstream. If you don't maintain in a publically
available repository, those fields should probably not be there ; see:
https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/developers-reference/ch06.html#bpp-vcs
and
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/#version-control-system-vcs-fields

- in d/control, I wonder if using "GUI" repeatedly in the description is
a good idea ; what about something like this, with different paragraphs
for different ideas :

Description: Graphical download manager based on Aria2
Persepolis is a graphical user interface on the Aria2 download manager.
 .
Aria2 is a high speed download utility which is capable of making several
connections to download files. It will boost the download in some cases,
specially if you have a limited connection.
 .
Persepolis makes the usage of Aria2 easier by providing a graphical
interface for it and in
addition, it includes some extra functionalities like scheduled downloads.

With some luck I'll be a DD soon and sponsor you myself :-)

In Debian, python-cffi is only required at build time. At runtime, it is
not required (only python-cffi-backend is required). This is mostly driven
by the python-cffi package itself: see /usr/share/python/dist/python-cffi
for details.

I don't immediately know why or if this would be different in Ubuntu, and I
don't immediately see what the stack trace in the Ubuntu bug report has to
do with cffi being installed or not.

I checked the debian/changelog. First I sent the
package to 'experimental' to see the build and then
to 'unstable'. So I think there was a problem with
one of them, at least.

Bug#892122: Bright red delete confirmations do not include all files actually deleted

2018-03-05 Thread Felix Lechner
Package: nautilus
Version: 3.26.2-2
Severity: normal

Hi,

I experiences a fairly serious data loss on Debian testing with nautilus
3.26.2-2. After about two weeks of uptime on kerberized NFSv4 with fs-cache, a
command to delete multiple files marked graphically in Nautilus included the
subdirectory most recently visited. (I had just copied a file there.) Nautilus
started being sluggish a few hours earlier, perhaps because it recursively
stat'ed directories.

While this report potentially indicates a more serious problem, I do not have
enough information to pin it on nautilus. For now, I would only like to point
out that the confirmation dialog included the files I intended to delete, but
not the ones actually deleted---which would have been more helpful. Thank you!

Best regards,
Felix

Bug#892116: [pkg-go] Bug#892116: [PATCH] Please set Built-Using field

2018-03-05 Thread Michael Stapelberg
I just realized that this package doesn’t use dh-golang yet, i.e. the
Built-Using patch alone won’t have any effect.

The attached patch shows how using dh-golang would look like. I ran out of
time figuring out a cleaner solution to rename the binary; perhaps you know
of one.

Thanks for considering,

The AddressSanitizer is using glibc internal functions though dlsym(),
and such functions have the right to change in new major versions:

From libsanitizer/sanitizer_common/sanitizer_linux_libcdep.cc:
|  void *get_tls_static_info_ptr = dlsym(RTLD_NEXT, "_dl_get_tls_static_info");

And on the glibc side:
| $ readelf -s /lib/ld-linux.so.2 | grep _dl_get_tls_static_info
| 4: 00011e7035 FUNCGLOBAL DEFAULT 12
_dl_get_tls_static_info@@GLIBC_PRIVATE

This has been discussed for example there:
https://www.sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2018-02/msg00611.html

The AddressSanitizer people should discuss for a public API so that it
doesn't happen again. Otherwise it might break at every new glibc
version.

I am therefore reassigning the bug to gcc-snapshot.

I could not reproduce this segfault myself. I see you reported this
issue upstream (albeit with a different error), is that correct?
Upstream reproduced it, so I assume they'll fix it if they can.

Well, it does not _need_ to have all symbols, unless you pass -c2 or
higher to dpkg-gensymbols. But I think -c4 is actually recommended to
catch any problems that might result in an unexpected ABI change.

True, I have not checked all architectures, only a couple of them. But
I don't think that libcdk5's symbols are arch-dependent at all.

Just the common symbols for every arch. That's what I learned.

Actually, they're not.

I guess upstream splitted libgaminggear and roccat-tools after designing the
latter, so actually the plugins directory is supposed to contain compiled
files allowing to handle roccat devices. But these compiled files come if
you actually instal roccat-tools. The binary refuses to work if no plugin
exist at all.

As roccat did not answer yet to my copyright questions, I'm on hold for the
packaging of the roccat-tools package.

There is no way to have this binary work properly without plugins, as it
seems it's by design with these plugin files that it's supposed to work.

I'll think about what to do.

Sorry, and thanks.

Bug#892113: needrestart: Bug in GTK3-frontend

2018-03-05 Thread Andreas Schmidt
Package: needrestart
Version: 3.0-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

the new GTK-3 frontend to needrestart has two buttons: and .
Pressing results in a restart of the services checked in the main window
-- as expected. I assumed that with the other button I could quit the dialogue
without restarting anything. However, hitting gives me this message in
the terminal:

***
(frontend:20760): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_assistant_previous_page: assertion
'page_node != NULL' failed
***

The program continues to work, so this error is just a nuisance. However, With
this error, the button is useless and should be removed or replaced. What do
you think about the following suggestion?

After updating packages like libc6, needrestart finds lots of services that
need a restart. There are occasions where restarting them should be delayed --
just think of a download running in the background that would be interrupted
for good if network-related services were stopped. In such cases it could be
quite a tiresome task to manually deselect all listed services and press
. It would be much easier to have a button that quits the
program without restarting anything. Another idea would be to provide a
checkbox on top (and possibly an identical one at the bottom) of the list that
turns the checkboxes of all listed services on/off. This would provide an easy
way to activate a restart of all services, if needed. It might be dangerous,
though, because it could lead to inadvertently killing the whole X-session if,
say, dbus was restarted.

Thank you for your consideration!

Andreas

I am in a similar circumstance. After a few days of moderate operation, it
appears packets can be transmitted, but tcpdump does not see the ingress
packet. The IRQs may have issues?

I did some troubleshooting with a network appliance vendor in whose devices
these cards are installed.

Their comments are to use a more current kernel, and to use Intel's drivers
from their e1000 sourceforge site. The i40e driver in a more current kernel
may operate better. Debian Stretch has 4.14 in stretch-backports.

I see many many commits to the i40e module between the 4.9 and 4.14 kernel
versions. Maybe the issue has been solved in a more recent kernel/module
incarnation. And/Or use the intel (tainted) module/driver. I am persuing
both: install the stretch-backports kernel (which provides additional
iproute2 functions as a bonus), plus install the separate intel i40e driver.
I am testing my auto-build scripts to suit the new requirements.

What the real problem is with the driver, I do not know. The above is my
version of a workaround.

Description : time series forecasting package for R and Python

Prophet [1] is a procedure for forecasting time series data. It is based on an
additive model
where non-linear trends are fit with yearly and weekly seasonality, plus
holidays. It works best
with daily periodicity data with at least one year of historical data. Prophet
is robust to missing
data, shifts in the trend, and large outliers.
