Bug#1038326: ITP: transformers -- State-of-the-art Machine Learning for JAX, PyTorch and TensorFlow (it ships LLMs)

2023-06-16 Thread M. Zhou
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Mo Zhou
X-Debbugs-Cc: debian-de...@lists.debian.org, debian...@lists.debian.org

* Package name: transformers
  Upstream Contact: HuggingFace
* URL : https://github.com/huggingface/transformers
* License : Apache-2.0
  Description : State-of-the-art Machine Learning for JAX, PyTorch and
TensorFlow

I've been using this for a while.

This package provides a convenient way for people to download and run an LLM
locally.
Basically, if you want to run an instruct fine-tuned large language model with
7B parameters,
you will need at least 16GB of CUDA memory for inference in half/bfloat16
precision.
I have not tried to run any LLM with > 3B parameters with CPU ... that can be
slow.
LLaMa.cpp is a good choice for running LLM on CPU, but that library supports
less models
than this one. Meanwhile, the cpp library only supports inference.

I don't know how many dependencies are still missing, but that should not be
too much.
Jax and TensorFlow are optional dependencies so they can be missing from our
archive.
But anyway, I think running a large language model locally with Debian packages
will
be interesting. The CUDA version of PyTorch is already in the NEW queue.

That said, this is actually a very comprehensive library, which provides far
more functionalities
than running LLMs.

Thank you for using reportbug

Bug#1038322: guestfish: ssh remote filesystem images are not working in guestfish

2023-06-16 Thread Alex King
Package: guestfish
Version: 1:1.48.6-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

When trying to use guestfish with a remote filesystem image over ssh, I get an
error:

$ echo -e "run\nlist-filesystems"| LIBGUESTFS_DEBUG=1 LIBGUESTFS_TRACE=1
guestfish --ro -a ssh://localhost/home/alex/temp/filesystem
libguestfs: trace: set_verbose true
...
libguestfs: command: run: \ ./ssh://localhost/home/alex/temp/filesystem
qemu-img: Could not open './ssh://localhost/home/alex/temp/filesystem': Could
not open './ssh://localhost/home/alex/temp/filesystem': No such file or
directory
libguestfs: error: qemu-img info: ssh://localhost/home/alex/temp/filesystem:
qemu-img info exited with error status 1, see debug messages above
...

If I run it instead on a local filesytem, I get the following:

$ echo -e "run\nlist-filesystems"| guestfish --ro -a filesystem
/dev/sda: ext4

(filesystem was created with:
truncate -s 10M filesystem
/usr/sbin/mke2fs -t ext4 -Elazy_itable_init=0,lazy_journal_init=0 filesystem)

The manpage documents ssh support (under ADDING REMOTE STORAGE).

Why does ssh support not work?

Thanks,
Alex King

P.S. this machine still has some packages from bullseye, but the packages in
question are from bookworm. I have the same problem on a pure-bookworm
system.

Bug#1037496: mdadm: Please restore support for use without systemd as PID 1

2023-06-16 Thread Olaf Meeuwissen
Hi,

Thanks for forwarding this, Mark.

Daniel, I'm not particularly charmed by the retitling to

  show note about missing boot integration for non-systemd

I have a few runit-init based systems with mdadm that run testing,
which, thankfully, still has 4.2-5.

The version in sid is old enough to migrate to testing but is still
waiting on autopkgtest results before it migrates. Other than that
there is nothing that prevents 4.2+20230508-2 from migrating and hit
unsuspecting mdadm users *without* any message at all.

These users will not be able to reboot their system after upgrading.
Just image the pain of having this happen to a system in a remote
location.

Please consider bumping this bug to a Severity that keeps it from
migrating to testing/trixie until this is resolved.

# I'll be putting mdadm on hold on my systems for the time being.

Bug#1038315: lxd: AppArmor profile violations cause PrivateNetwork=yes services in the container fail to start

2023-06-16 Thread Bagas Sanjaya
Package: lxd
Version: 5.0.2-5
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I spin up containers using LXD. I'm primarily doing this for learning
purposes (for example installing and configuring web services).

I launched my first container (test) to get my feet wet by:

```
lxc launch images:debian/12 test
```

When I tried to set hostname in the container via (`hostnamectl set-hostname
test.test`), I got `Could not set pretty hostname: Connection timed out`
error. journalctl on the container showed errors related to network
namespacing:

```
Jun 17 03:03:12 test dbus-daemon[81]: [system] Activating via systemd: service
name='org.freedesktop.hostname1' unit='dbus-org.freedesktop.hostname1.service'
requested by ':1.7' (uid=0 pid=104 comm="hostnamectl set-hostname test.test")
Jun 17 03:03:12 test (ostnamed)[105]: systemd-hostnamed.service: Failed to set
up network namespacing: Permission denied
Jun 17 03:03:12 test systemd[1]: Starting systemd-hostnamed.service - Hostname
Service...
Jun 17 03:03:12 test (ostnamed)[105]: systemd-hostnamed.service: Failed at step
Jun 17 03:03:12 test systemd[1]: systemd-hostnamed.service: Failed with result
Jun 17 03:03:37 test dbus-daemon[81]: [system] Failed to activate service
'org.freedesktop.hostname1': timed out (service_start_timeout=25000ms)
```

dmesg on the host revealed that these errors above are due to AppArmor policy
violations:

```
[10673.299973] audit: type=1400 audit(1686970915.519:84): apparmor="DENIED"
```

>From the upstream discussion [1], the workaround is to put AppArmor profile
for the container unconfined. To do this, I have to run:

```
lxc config set test raw.lxc "lxc.apparmor.profile=unconfined"
```

See lxc.container.conf(5) manpage [2] for explanation of lxc config key.

The upstream discussion stated that this bug should have been already fixed
in recent systemd, AppArmor, and Linux kernel versions (at least as shipped in
Ubuntu Bionic release). However, I can (still) reproduce it on Debian testing.

Thanks.

Bug#1038313: acpi: mensage on boot: acpi bios error, pci0, acpi not found, x509 and sgx error

2023-06-16 Thread Leandro
Package: acpi
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: genteboapesso...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

At each startup, an error message is displayed.
The message says: acpi, pci0, acpi not found, sgx and x509 bios error.
And sometime or other it can disable touchpad touch can lead to other random
errors due to acpi error.

* What led up to the situation?
I believe it is incompatibility.
Or the distribution itself is not finding the right acpi for my notebook
Lenovo Ideapad 330-15IGM 81FN,
Intel Celeron N4000 (2) 1.10GHz Max 2.60GHz,
Intel UHD 600 i915 Geminilake GLK2,
Ram 4GB, SSD 256GB Ceamere
PtBr UTF8, Abnt2 with numeric keypad, 1366x768p 60Hz

* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
I just formatted and installed Debian 12.
There are several videos on the internet about it, but if I follow one, the
system may crash and not start at all,
forcing me to format it again.
That would be to disable acpi in grub as it says in this youtube video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoJE0e8zrD0

* What was the outcome of this action?
I didn't test it on Debian, but on other Debian-based systems it wouldn't start,
because it turns off completely acpi, so it wouldn't be interesting.

* What outcome did you expect instead?
if possible, the error message no longer appears and that the errors and
incompatibilities are resolved.
It would need reverse engineering. But I don't know how to do this. :)

Bug#1038067: dash: fails to upgrade from -2 in debian:sid-slim image due to --path-exclude=/usr/share/man

I can confirm that it breaks one of my CI jobs.

When the file you're trying to divert does not exist, there is nothing
to be done, so, yes, that should be assumed as being okay.

FWIW, I haven't tested the patch.

I _think_ building just one module or without rebooting is not possible.

The 'official' instructions: https://wiki.debian.org/DebianKernel/GitBisect

I know some things to reduce what gets build, like f.e. what's described here:
https://kernel-team.pages.debian.net/kernel-handbook/ch-common-tasks.html#id-1.6.6.7
And there's also a facility to work with _build profiles_.
But I don't know if or how that could be applied to the 'official' instructions
as that deals with the upstream kernel source directly.

Hopefully one of the (more) experienced people chimes in with
actual useful things ...

6.1.12-1 and 6.1.15-1 are good. 6.1.20-1 is the first broken one.

> A `git bisect` would be best, but grabbing these intermediate versions

Last time I tried to build Debian linux kernels, it was spending a large
amount of time building packages I don't need, and finding the right
incantation to reduce that load was not straightforward, and I can't
find my notes, unfortunately. If you have instructions I can use to go

Bug#1038272: gnupg: connecting both a regular smartcard and a solokey v2 drastically increases gpg's response time

2023-06-16 Thread Louis-Philippe Véronneau

Package: gnupg
Version: 2.2.40-1.1
Severity: normal

Dear maintainers,

I recently purchased a Solokey v2, which does not support OpenPGP (but
does support PIV).

Although this is the case, when both my regular smartcard (a nitrokey
start) and the Solokey v2 are plugged in, gpg seems to get "confused"
and takes a while to answer back (almost as if it took multiple seconds
to recognise the solokey v2 isn't supported).

This is "Not Very Nice" as it drastically increases the time it takes to
sign git commits when both keys are plugged in :(

With both keys plugged in (my password is cached):

--
foo@bar:/tmp$ time gpg --sign testfile.txt

real0m21,632s
user0m0,006s
sys 0m0,003s
--

With only the smartcard plugged in:

--
foo@bar:/tmp$ time gpg --sign testfile.txt

real0m0,053s
user0m0,003s
sys 0m0,004s
--

The same thing happens when I try to run `gpg --edit-card`, or when
Thunderbird (which I configured to use gpg) tries to sign an email.

I understand this behavior could be difficult to reproduce on your side,
since the Solokey v2 isn't publicly available yet (it's in the last
crowdfunding fulfillment steps).

Since I'm not very familiar with debugging GPG, I haven't included any
relevant info, but I'll be glad to run whatever commands you need me to
on my side.

Cheers,

Version 6.1.0-0.deb11.5 should be the same as version 6.1.12-1.
If would be useful if you could verify that with the non-backports kernel
it also works again.
If that's the case, could you try newer versions (6.1.15-1, 6.1.20-1 and
6.1.25-1) to find the newest kernel version that still works?

A `git bisect` would be best, but grabbing these intermediate versions
(from snapshot.debian.org) is the quickest way to narrow the range.

A google search of 'crypto_tfm_ctx' will show that the declaration of
this function is located in 'include/crypto/algapi.h' in the linux

So this is not complicated to solve : it's enough to add '#include
' into the magma_generic.c file , after the '#include

I got an answer from Karl Berry:

I removed it from TL after 2019. I didn't try to look up why. I've just
now reinstalled it, with abstract.bst in the runtime and all the rest of
David Kotz's (aside: we were undergrads together  the bibtools package

So chances are good, that one of the next CTAN checkouts contains the

remember later on.

Bug#1038271: linux-image-6.1.0-9-amd64: Logitech trackpad T651 doesn't work anymore

2023-06-16 Thread Mike Hommey
Package: src:linux
Version: 6.1.27-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

After upgrading to bookworm, my bluetooth trackpad stopped working. It's
properly connected, and `libinput list-devices` displays this message:

It worked with earlier kernel versions. I went back to one I had at hand
from before the upgrade (6.1.0-0.deb11.5-amd64), and it worked again,
with `libinput list-devices` reporting:

I guess so. I was thinking along these lines, and if the patch tracker
has no other way to distinguish these (it’s in local-options, so it
probably does not) then yes, that’s most likely the right solution.

Bug#1038270: neomutt: Help offer to co-maintain neomutt as part of Mutt maintainers team

Dear Mutt Maintainers, hi!

I've seen neomutt is maintained by the Mutt maintainers team, but I
couldn't find so much info about joining the team, so I'm filling this
bug in the hope it reaches the team.

I use neomutt everyday, I do know a little bit of it's codebase and I've
contacted the upstream a few times - Flatcap, wonderful person! With
that in mind, I'd like to offer my help packaging it, so we could
split the work and make our lives easier :-)

Currently I'm a DM and I do maintain some packages [1]. Some of them are
team maintained.

If it's ok, just let me know your current workflow and maybe you can add
me in the salsa repo too (my nick is charles [2]).

Cheers,

Only problem left is wx3.0-headers not being upgraded to wx3.2-headers.
As said, I tested using the debian-11-nocloud-amd64-20230601-1398.qcow2
image. Just these steps:

   apt install wx3.0-headers
   # update /etc/apt/sources.list
   apt clean
   apt update
   apt full-upgrade
And wx3.0-headers/oldstable is still installed.
Running apt full-upgrade again doesn't upgrade the package either.

If nothing depends on the headers, I'm not surprised. wx3.0-headers has
nothing in the archive providing it, so it's OK that it stays if nothing
conflicts with it; see section 4.8 [1] in the release notes how to
remove obsolete packages.

Although I now somehow doubt that there's anything wrong, I like the
maintainers of wxwidgets3.2 to double check (hence reassigning). The bug
can be closed if this is intended behavior.

Bug#1038269: tmux: server exits unexpectedly with libtinfo6 from experimental

2023-06-16 Thread Sven Joachim
Package: tmux
Version: 3.3a-3
Severity: important
Forwarded: https://github.com/tmux/tmux/issues/3531

People have reported server crashes with recent ncurses when copying
text with the mouse, see the upstream bug report above and
https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/78584.

To reproduce that, install libtinfo6 from experimental, put a line with
"set -g mouse on" in tmux.conf, start a tmux session, put some text on
the screen (e.g. "cat /etc/passwd"), and mark that with the mouse. For
me, tmux crashes reproducibly as soon as the mouse is released.

The Arch Linux maintainer seems to have backported the upstream fixes,
see https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/packaging/packages/tmux.
I'll have at look at these in the next few days if nobody beats me to
it.

Bug#1033092: (no subject)

2023-06-16 Thread Rowan Wookey
Just upgraded from bullseye to bookworm and encountered this, host is on
bullseye guest was on bullseye but is now on bookworm, unlike the
original reporter adding a spice-vdagent.desktop file does work, the
contents are:

[Desktop Entry]
Exec=/usr/bin/spice-vdagent
Icon=dialog-scripts
Name=spice-vdagent
Path=
Type=Application
X-KDE-AutostartScript=true

Without the desktop file at login spice-vdagent.service and
spice-vdagentd.service are both not running.

Manually starting them with sudo systemctl start spice-vdagent.service
and systemctl start spice-vdagent --user doesn't seem to help the
services start but screen resizing doesn't work.

Please let me know if you need me to debug further.

This might be i387 excess precision resulting in rounding errors on i386
that differ from what happens on other architectures, or it might be
something unrelated.

  Also, in the "man.local" file, it can be changed for nroff to "R"

First of all thanks for your effort. I already had a version of this
for upstream’s 5.1 release for private use, but after looking through
your patches adopted some bits from your version too.
If it all goes well, how would you like to be credited?

Just to be sure: did you receive a reply to this from Eugene (perhaps
by accident as a private reply instead of sending to BTS)?

Bug#1038265: [PATCH] Add riscv64 to webapp B-D list and disable LTO on Ubuntu

2023-06-16 Thread Sergio Durigan Junior
Source: git-annex
Version: 10.20230407-1
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Hi again,

Still related to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/git-annex/+bug/2019992, I
found a few more things that needs to be adjusted to properly build
git-annex on Ubuntu.

1) We need to add riscv64 to the list of archs for webapp B-Ds on
   d/control, otherwise the build will always fail on that architecture.
   I believe this makes sense for Debian because of our intention to
   fully support riscv64 on trixie.

2) Ubuntu enables LTO by default, and I found that that can introduce a
   problem when compiling git-annex on ppc64el. For that reason, I'd
   like to propose the following change which disables LTO on that
   specific arch.

Thanks,

Bug#1038264: wmusic: fails to display remaining time for songs longer than 35 minutes

2023-06-16 Thread Jan
Package: wmusic
Version: 2.1.0-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When I play a song that's longer than 35 minutes, the remaining time
indicator fails to display correctly. This is because it overflows the
length field. Attached is a patch to fix the bug.

Thank you,
Jan Hasebos

Bug#1038166: php-imagick: on upgrades /etc/php/7.4/mods-available/imagick.ini is left behind

2023-06-16 Thread Ondřej Surý
Control: severity -1 minor

Oh, I see now. Too much text on too little screen. Sorry.

I’ll think whether there’s easy way to fix that, but since the conffile is
still registered with the package, I think this is harmless as purging
php-imagick will remove the file.
