Bug#989033: equivs-build fails when multiple 'Links:' have the same filename

2021-05-23 Thread Andrew Pam

Package: equivs
Version: 2.2.0
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where
appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

Using equivs to build a package that contains multiple 'Links:'
values that reference the same target filename with different paths

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

   Example:

 Links: /var/lib/qmail/bin/sendmail /usr/sbin/sendmail
  ../sbin/sendmail /usr/lib/sendmail

   * What was the outcome of this action?

equivs-build fails with 'File exists' error

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

equivs-build should include all requested links

I had the same problem with Debian lenny, but used a slightly different
solution:

$ThisLine =~ s/^... ... .. ..:..:.. - //; # Remove timestamps

Bug#501964: spamassassin: spamd hangs blocking incoming emails

2009-02-18 Thread Andrew Pam
Noah Meyerhans wrote:
I'm not sure this is something that we want to put effort into fixing.
Suspending a system is naturally going to interfere with numerous IPC
mechanisms. You'd expect, for example, tcp connections to close after
the machine had been suspending for a certain amount of time.

Sure, but I don't think it's acceptable code quality to then hang
indefinitely and block all incoming email. The weekly suspension is
part of the VPS hosting service, so the alternative is to document that
spamd is not suitable for use on virtual private servers.

I'll pass this along to the upstream developers. They may find it
worthwhile to add some more aggressive recovery attempts when this
 situation comes up.

Thanks.

Bug#361974: UTF-8 language detection

2006-04-11 Thread Andrew Pam
Package: mnogosearch
Version: 3.2.31-1

The language guesser mguesser included with mnogosearch doesn't include
rules for the common languages (for example, English) when encoded
as UTF-8 and they are therefore incorrectly detected as az, eo or ru,
the only three languages for which UTF-8 detection rules are provided.
One solution is to copy the existing language detection files, re-encode
the contents using iconv or similar, change the Charset: headers to
utf-8 and add the new entries to the /etc/mnogosearch/langmap.conf file.

Regards,
Andrew

Bug#361775: Security bug report

2006-04-10 Thread Andrew Pam
Package: mnogosearch-common
Version: 3.2.31-1
Severity: critical

The Debian configuration tool (debconf) asks for the database
administrator password when configuring mnogosearch, and then
stores the password in clear text in the world-readable file
/var/cache/debconf/config.dat under the key
mnogosearch-common/database_admin_pass instead of using the
restricted access file /var/cache/debconf/passwords.dat

The problem is that the time period during which servers will have the

Is there a process to ensure that updates with a known deadline are
released before the deadline?
