Comments/Problems:

The installation (console) by default went well. Thank you.
But to restart, surprise, white screen.
In fact, missing the firmware for the graphics card AMD Radeon HD 6470M, which
was not reported by the installer during installation.
It was not easy for a novice to find and solve this problem.
I had to type commands in blind to go to the console and login as root to
install the package firmware-linux-nonfree. (I could also use the CD in rescue
mode)

Thanks,

There is already a warning in

 Sounds like https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11796 .

Thanks. The two patches (for xserver-xorg-core and

Even if you've lost faith in yaird,

If you don't want to wait, an amd64 version is currently available at
http://incoming.debian.org and an i386 version is available here:

 http://vireo.org/debian/ivman

Thanks.
I build a powerpc package on my etch from your source.

Still get the same problem :
connect a usb disk, OK, /media/sda1 -- remove the disk, no /media/sda1
-- re-connect a usb disk, no /media/sda1

To get ivman working again, two options:
 * connect a usb disk -- umount the disk -- remove the disk
 * connect a usb disk -- remove the disk -- re-connect a usb disk --
restart ivman

So ivman can't do auto-umount.
If you think this is normal, you can close this bug.

 Hello Ming,

i already set up the keyboard layout, (French/European).
Maybe i misunderstand how scim works :

my common alternate layouts are French and Anthy. I so
switch between French/alternate by pressing ctrl-space.

When activated (anthy mode) deadkeys works. as i use anthy
ê becomes hiragana え for example.
When deactivated, deadkeys are like deadkeys (nothing typed
in when pressed one time) but i get aeiou instead of âêîôû.

If i activate the alternate layout with a French/European
mode, i get the correct letters.

i also tried something : LANG=fr_FR urxvt to use latin1
charset instead of utf-8. there, scim does not work but the
 deadkeys are correct.

Am i right or do i make a mistake ?

 Hi,

It *seems* that I have the same problem.

Sorry, my problem is not libpango1.0-0.
I think it's a problem with fontconfig-config or fontconfig in unstable.
(Downgrading to libfontconfig1_2.3.2-7_powerpc.deb
libfontconfig1-dev_2.3.2-7_powerpc.deb fontconfig_2.3.2-7_powerpc.deb
fontconfig-config_2.3.2-7_all.deb solves my problem.)

Best regards,

Chinese font from package ttf-arphic-uming doesn't display well in
firefox and evolution after upgrading libpango1.0-0 from testing.

I am not sure if this is related with my problem of displaying chinese

 http://www.cups.org/str.php?L1717+P0+S-2+C0+I0+E0+Qbad+request

This affects printing with a 1.2.x client to a 1.1.x server, due to a
protocol incompatibility. The chunking looks like it was fixed in
1.2.1, though, so the remaining problems must be something else. It's
not clear what STR #1717 is caused by, but it looks like it's a setup
 error (no esp-gs).

Could you set LogLevel to debug in cupsd.conf on the server, and then
try printing. If you then post you error_log for that job, it would
 be useful.

Sorry. I am not admin of that print-server. Can't set LogLevel to debug

SCIM has been claiming deadkey support for quite a while, so I am
surprised that you still has this problem. As I have always been using
a US keyboard, I don't know how to deal with deadkey issue at all.

I'll ask on upstream mailing list.

As reported by a user in Chinese to [EMAIL PROTECTED], I can
confirm that scim doesn't work properly with gvim and vim-latexsuite,
when scim is set in XIM mode and using on the spot style.

When using gvim to edit a LaTeX file, scim can be activated, but as long
as the first key is pressed under the activated scim, scim will be
 deactivated immediately.

This happens to me, but only when using XIM mode (need export
XMODIFIERS=@im=SCIM).
No problem if I use GTK_IM mode (without export XMODIFIERS=@im=SCIM).

Regards,
Bin

This doesn't seem to be related to a particular IM engine, I can
 reproduce with both scim-pinyin and scim-tables-zh (scim-modules-table
 IM engine).

The package versions used in my testing:
 ii vim-gnome6.4-006+2
 ii vim-latexsuite 0.20041219-2

This is most likely an upstream issue, and someone said that upstream is
aware of it. However I can't find anything related in upstream's (not
 well maintained) BTS yet.

In french, we use text like this : Vérifier l'orthographe
In the file /usr/share/dokuwiki/inc/lang/fr/lang.php
I had

I changed this to

Could this be a scim problem in debian? I seem to be unable to install

I don't know.

I installed the scim and scim-gtk2-immodule version 1.4.1-1 (powerpc).
This removed scim-chinese 0.4.2, and I could run synaptic without
problem.

scim 1.4 needs the new IM engine scim-pinyin (scim-chinese renames to
scim-pinyin after 0.4.2) which is not yet in unstable. I installed
scim-pinyin 0.5.91 from source.
Now scim and synaptic work fine without problem.

Bug#321690: backtrace

2005-08-18 Thread B. Zhang
Hi,

On Thu, 2005-08-18 at 10:45 +0200, Michael Vogt wrote:
 It looks like there is
a problem with scim and gtk. Could you please check what scim packages
 you have installed?

scim, scim-chinese, scim-config-socket, scim-frontend-socket,
scim-gtk2-immodule, scim-server-socket

I tried installing schim and scim-gtk2-immodules
but synaptic does not crash for me. Could you also check if moving
away /root/.scim does help before you start synaptic?

Running fvwm2 form xdm by root without scim, I start synaptic, but still
Segmentation fault.

Bug#321256:

2005-08-08 Thread B. Zhang
another solution for using it with firefox :
Edit -- Preferences -- Downloads -- Plug-Ins...
Disable RA file and SMI file

It's not a problem but I find that
mplayerplug-in*.xpt are installed in /usr/lib/mozilla(-firefox)/plugins,
not in /usr/lib/mozilla(-firefox)/components.

Bug#321256:

2005-08-07 Thread B. Zhang
The bug is still present for me with version 3.05-1.
(Compiling mplayerplug-in-3.05.tar.gz with the option --disable-rm solve
the problem.)

Best regards,
Bin

The complaint about not being able to open the file is normal on a system
 that doesn't have scaling_available_frequencies.
The version 0.90 worked fine for me, why ?

 The program will then attempt
to synthesize the table from the min, max, and step values. In your initial
bug report, this clearly was happening, since the program reported the min and
max and the fact that there was only a single step to switch between the two.

Please try running powernowd by hand:

sudo killall powernowd
sudo /usr/sbin/powernowd -d -v -v -v -v

The speed doesn't jump to 1199Mhz. But with version 0.90, it did.

I have a apple iBook G4 1.2Ghz.

This will allow you to watch the decisions the daemon is making as the load
changes, and I suspect you'll be able to figure out what'

 s going on from there.

Sorry. I don't know what I should do.
I'll downgrade to version 0.90.

Thanks.

Bin Zhang

For what it's worth, powernowd works fine on all the machines I run it on,
which are based on the Intel Pentium M chips.

 Looks like you don't have /lib/modules/`uname -r`/modules.pcimap . This
file is included in the Debian kernel-image packages.

I have this file. I don't use Debian kernel-image packages because I
want suspend to ram (iBook G4).
