As far as I am concerned, libuuid.so.1 was missing and i couldn't
launch googleearth, skype and wine anymore.
Manually unpacking the lib and symlink from i386 package to

A recent update of another package, not linux-image-2.6.32-2-vserver-amd64,
appears to have resolved this issue.
The problem appears to have been the mode switching of
the console. The scenario is:
1) boot with the initrd,
2) decrypt the root partition,
3) mount the root partition,
4)
Downloading and installing the following ubuntu package enables gpg
in the debian kopete package:
kopete-cryptography_1.3.0-kde4.3.0-0ubuntu2_amd64.deb
--force-depends is required since there is a dependency on libkleo4
(= 4:4.3.2-0ubuntu6). However, gpg does work fine.
