a v4l device IIRC.
So the problem lies in the backend.
Can you give a try to xcam, which is a SANE frontend dedicated to v4l
devices ?
Also, try setting SANE_DEBUG_V4L=255 and see if you can get any useful
error message.

I tested this code with a microtek2 SCSI scanner, btw. I'm surprised

to an ogg(theora+vorbis) http (or whatever) stream.

On the desktop computer, the scanner works with EPP+ECP.
It's a typical problem for parallel port scanners, there's one mode
that is guaranteed to not work (can't remember which), but sometimes
mostly due to BIOS bugs, it works nonetheless.

characters ?
I suspect something is counting characters and not bytes, in which
case with 2 multibyte characters in the header you should be getting
the Route header inserted before the \r.
