This is one of them.

I will ask the ALSA-Team for this specific problem.
At least the fact remains that older hardware isn't supported any more in
Squeeze ...

It looks like the exchange of some addresses - but now 3 values are
missing !?
But it makes no difference for the firmware binary after calling
write_images (diff).
That's all very strange ...

That´s the status on the PC in SQUEEZE now:
(Reporting also for the bug report at ALSA)
~# dmesg
[6.269634] Sound Fusion CS46xx :02:06.0: PCI INT A - Link[LNKC]
- GSI 17 (level, low) - IRQ 17
[6.811528] Sound Fusion CS46xx :02:06.0: firmware: requesting
cs46xx/cs46xx-old.fw
[
Today we booted the Linux again on this PC.
Without doing something the sound now works from the start.
It seems it only needs one more reboot.
In the mixer all 3 sound devices now can be seen.
This bug can be closed with success! :-)

-Problem is based in the sources of ALSA, so
it is not a problem of Debian.
If someone want to follow the bug at ALSA here it is:

and phonon cannot co-exit because phonon is designed to use
default:card=Intel to open pcm device
after you installed pulseaudio which override pcm.!default by type pulse

(CM6501 bug 614074).
It's good that some of the problems can be solved in detail up to now, but maybe there is the need for a better
automatic configuration to avoid such problems in the future?
Please remind that there where not such problems on the same hardware with
Lenny before.

definitly need to recompile the alsa driver sources or a vanilla
kernel.
O.K. But the driver is not the whole kernel.
I will try to do this and check if the problem is solved then.

it is an udev problem?
But maybe it is an kernel problem, then you can be happy. ;-)

I misattributed this to Stable while it (only) applies to
Debian/Squeeze.
(It does not apply to Sid because the location of the .mo
files changed to client/po/ in 0.8.)

it for *.conf files but that is by no
means safe to assume to be an INI style file.
I'd love to set the
option
part in
option = value
to some other color, too, but didn't find the proper syntax
for that.
