It works well with a generic OOo 2.0 (RPMs converted to TGZ by alien, installed in /opt), so it's really a compilation problem - maybe the multimedia code doesn't build with gcj. Anyway, as long as we don't have a free solution, the inserting of video in Debian's OOo has to be considered broken.
