I was also hit by this bug on 2:4.4.5+dfsg-3+b1.
As a workaround downgrading libtevent0 from 0.9.31-1 to 0.9.28-1
ends the crashing and makes Samba work.

This seems to be a localization problem. The problem does not reproduce
