I don't know exactly what I did. I don't use this computer very much and there were some time lapses between the actions that led to this situation. I didn't have a clear idea of the actions to take to upgrade to the legacy driver, and I like to fiddle with packages plus the upgrades in testing, so it's very possible that I broke something but I didn't ever force the package manager to do anything. By looking at the logs it seems I installed the legacy packages while the current driver was installed, then tried to remove the current driver by purging nvidia-driver and nvidia-driver-bin, after that some package upgrading and installing. Bug#819190:
I was having this problem and I think it's solved now. I was using the current nvidia driver until my graphics card became obsolete, then I installed the legacy driver and uninstalled the current driver. It was left in a broken state after that. I tried to dist-upgrade or remove the nvidia packages but it failed telling me to run "dpkg --configure -a". When I tried to do that the command would hang so I was stuck.. Examining the running processes in another console I could see it was the /usr/lib/nvidia/check-for-mismatching-nvidia-module script that hang. I edited said script putting an exit command at the start of the script so I could resume dpkg execution, then I purged all nvidia packages and installed the legacy package succesfully this time. Questions: - what is your Nvidia card (lspci verbose output please)? 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation G92 [GeForce 9800 GT] (rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Testing. - if I understand correctly you have an amd64 installation. Did you add i368 via dpkg --add-architecture? Yes. Had nvidia i386 packages installed. - did you ever have non-legacy-340xx packages installed? Yes. I had them until they become incompatible with my card. - are you installing from a tty or is yours a laptop with an optimus system? It's a desktop system and tried from a gnome terminal and a remote ssh session. I hope this helps someone. Thanks for you support. Best regards. -- Bernat Arlandis

Bug#567873: gstreamer0.10-plugins-good: Autoaudiosink seems to fail when Pulseaudio is suspended and Jack is running
Package: gstreamer0.10-plugins-good Version: 0.10.17-1 Severity: normal Sometimes I start the Jack audio server and Pulseaudio seems to be left in a suspended state since the process is still there. When using gmusicbrowser with the gstreamer backend and audio autodetection it doesn't playback anything, but if I select the Jack output it works. gmusicbrowser author has confirmed autoaudiosink is used for autodetection and he suggested to look this problem into gstreamer. Bug#549433: Please explain
Hi Robert. I don't understand the problem. Having no new releases in a while shouldn't be enough to avoid this package. There's others packages in Debian with few upstream releases or none, even with low responsiveness and that doesn't hurt as long as there's no severe bugs in them which need upstream help. In case bugs appear we can try to fix them by ourselves. I use this app everyday and I see no reason to prevent it reaching testing and thus a greater audience. Can you better explain your reasons? How can we help? Best regards. -- Bernat -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

I don't know if I can continue to use it or it will definitely destroy my notes. Hi, First of all, if you're using 0.5.1 I suggest you make a backup of your note directory (~/.gnote). I would need some way to reproduce this problem. Try the following: - Rename your ~/.gnote. - Run gnote, it will create a new ~/.gnote. - Copy one of the offending notes (*.note files) to the new ~/.gnote BEFORE it got corrupted. - Verify its current state. If the note has now been corrupted, send me a copy of the old note (prior to corruption). Btw, which version of gnote are you using? I'm using version 0.5.1 and the previous version still in my apt cache is 0.4.0. I don't have any backups, but I've tried downgrading to 0.4.0, I've edited a new note and then upgrading again to 0.5.1 is working fine with this note. I had a note that hadn't been modified since june 8th, I've opened it with 0.5.1 and it got corrupted immediately. I'm sending you this note to your email before it got corrupted. I hope this helps. -- Bernat Arlandis i Mañó -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Bug#528605: Similar problem here
Newly installed kernels don't boot after installing gparted, reason: root device not found. I have just one SATA HDD, the SATA driver finds the disk and partitions, but /dev just had the drive (sda) and no partitions. I uninstalled gparted and its dependencies: dmraid kpartx dmsetup gparted libdmraid1.0.0.rc15 libparted1.8-10 Now, reconfiguring the kernel (making a new initrd image) it boots again. From these packages, dmraid, kpartx and dmsetup added udev rules. Also, dmraid adds a local-top script. Any of these packages could be at fault, right now I can't do more testing, sorry.
