With ltrace this is the same story!!! I issue an ltrace muse in a terminal as root and it outputs a lot of stuff, the splash screen comes out and then it locks the computer, the processor runs 100% and that's it! Try starting with ltrace -f to trace all threads. this still doesn't work!! same story: cpu runs at 100%, the splash screen is displayed but nothing more happens. Can you please run ltrace muse, or even better, rebuild muse with debugging symbols (export DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nostrip; dpkg-buildpackage ...), start it in gdb, and print out a backtrace when it has crashed? You'll have to start muse (and jackd) as root in these cases because an ordinary user cannot trace suid binaries. I compiled it with the debugging symbols and then try to run it from gdb, but it starts, the splash screen appears and nothing more!! I can just quit gdb and kill muse running inside. The kernel version I want to use is 2.6.12.3. kernel-package fails to build kernel-doc (and only this one), the last line in the terminal is: XMLTO Documentation/DocBook/kernel-api.html This seems to be the kernel Makefile problem -- are you sure you can compile documentation without make-kpkg? I con't reproduce this, in any case. manoj I don't think the problem comes from the makefile. Around a week ago I was running sarge and I build this kernel including the kernel-doc package without any problem. Do see which change between sarge and testing can be responsible for that. BTW I do not know how I can compile only the documentation without make-kpkg, moreover, does building the kernel-doc package work for you? The kernel version I want to use is 2.6.12.3. kernel-package fails to build kernel-doc (and only this one), the last line in the terminal is: XMLTO Documentation/DocBook/kernel-api.html and that doesn't do something more! I have to hit ctrl-c to stop it (I waited for more than 10 minutes...).
