Bug#748803: mediawiki-extensions-math: works better with this symlink
Package: mediawiki-extensions-math Version: 2:1.0+git20120528-6 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, Should not /etc/mediawiki-extensions/extensions-available/Math.php be a symlink to /usr/share/mediawiki-extensions/math/Math.php ? I'm certainly fumbling about, but (almost) all the other files in this directory are symlinks to the code. And the mediawiki page wiki page appears when when I replace the file with that symlink rather than a blank page. This error appears in /var/log/apache/error.log PHP Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required '/var/lib/mediawiki/WIKINAME/extensions/Math/Math.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in /etc/mediawiki-extensions/extensions-available/Math.php on line 2 Thanks! Bug#563297: [aptitude] can mark auto or mark manual subtrees
Package: aptitude Version: 0.6.1.3-3 Severity: normal Hi, If 'm' or 'M' is pushed while a category (e.g. Installed Packages) is highlighted, all packages in that category are either marked as manually installed ('m') or automatically installed ('M'). This could be a nice feature, but at the same time it can destroy a lot of information about how and why a package is on the system. E.g. the first time I fat fingered 'm' I saw that all the packages were marked as manually installed, but didn't know that I had caused it. Then I exited aptitude normally and the changes were saved. Now I have craploads of libraries marked as manually installed. Yuck. Perhaps an intervening confirmation or a message saying you have pushed 'm' while selecting a category, thereby marking multiple packages as manually installed, to revert to previous markings, push 'z'. Hi, On Sat, Mar 07, 2009 at 10:46:56AM -0500, C Sights csig...@fastmail.fm was heard to say: # LC_ALL=C apt-cache policy libgnutls26 libgnutls26: Installed: 2.2.5-1 Candidate: 2.2.5-1 Version table: 2.4.0-2 0 500 http://ftp.fr.debian.org unstable/main Packages 2.4.0-1 0 1 http://ftp.debian.org ../project/experimental/main Packages *** 2.2.5-1 0 990 http://ftp.fr.debian.org testing/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status aptitude considers all extra (i.e., non-default) versions to be equal when scoring dependency solutions. That's probably what's happening here. Aptitude is also ignoring the priority of the repositories: experimental=1 and unstable=500. This behavior is bug #473296 . That's actually just restating what I said above. Didn't mean to tweak you if I did. I was trying to help you merge bugs. (I don't know how to do that myself, and if I did I wouldn't trust my judgement enough to do it myself.) Regardless, thanks for the reminder: I'm working on the resolver right now and this is a problem that can be neatly solved with the changes I'm in the process of making...as soon as I can figure out how best to tweak them to shoehorn apt preference information into the design. But all the necessary machinery now exists, where it didn't when this bug was filed; now it's just a matter of transmitting this requests to the backend in a reasonably clean and configurable way. Hrm. (NB: this assumes that what you want is always show solutions containing a lower-preference package after all solutions that don't contain lower-preference packages, I kind of understand what you are saying here, but it seems like an easier, more straight-forward way to _say_ it (at least) is From all packages which satisfy a dependency, choose the highest priority package. A longer way to say it is get all packages names which satisfy a dependency, then order them by priority (highest to lowest), then by version number (highest to lowest). Chose the first package in the sorted list. Maybe thinking in terms of entire solutions instead of individual packages makes more sense if you know the code. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding this bug (and it is not the same as bug #473296). but that seems like the only sane alternative if we're going to pay attention to these priorities at all) Daniel Best wishes, C. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#481252: [initscripts] umountfs: network fs should be unmounted before network-manager is shutdown
Hi, thus if NetworkManager need to stop after umountfs, it should use the X-Stop-After header. You probably weren't trying to say that X-Stop-After is the only change needed to /etc/init.d/network-manager (I see your additional comments below). BUT, after adding # X-Stop-After: umountnfs to /etc/init.d/network-manager, insserv says: insserv: There is a loop between service dhcdbd and umountnfs insserv: loop involving service umountnfs at depth 5 insserv: loop involving service NetworkManager at depth 4 insserv: loop involving service avahi at depth 8 insserv: There is a loop between service umountnfs and NetworkManager insserv: loop involving service dhcdbd at depth 9 insserv: exiting without changing boot order! Probably you didn't expect this simple hack to work... I have not investigated this issue, but suspect a solution might involve looking at the omitpid feature in sendsigs, and changing the shutdown dependencies of NetworkManager. $remote_fs during shutdown is the point where /usr/ is guaranteed to still be mounted, and just before it might be umounted all/most processes are killed by sendsigs. It appears omitpid causes sendsigs to make exceptions when killing processes. (?) I think you are suggesting the following occur during shutdown: 1. sendsigs (but don't kill NetworkManager or any of its dependencies) 2. umountnfs 3. network-manager stop 4. shutdown NetworkManager runtime dependencies. This order would be a problem if the NetworkManager were on the network fs unmounted by umountnfs (e.g. networked /usr/). What is needed, somehow, is to unmount network fs that are accessed through an interface managed by NetworkManager, then stop NetworkManager, then umount the rest of the network fs. 1. sendsigs (but don't kill NetworkManager or deps) 2. umount network fs accessed through NetworkManager 3. network-manager stop 4. shutdown NetworkManager runtime dependencies. 5. unmount the rest of the network fs (e.g. /usr) Perhaps more easy, there should be a special script to umount /usr, whether it be network or not? 1. sendsigs (but don't kill NetworkManager or deps) 2. umount all network file systems except /usr 3. network-manager stop 4. shutdown NetworkManager runtime dependencies. 5. unmount /usr (network or not) 6. networking stop This last idea seems to be the best b/c the script for unmounting the network fs just needs to avoid unmounting /usr, rather than detecting which mountpoints are provided through an interface managed by NetworkManager. Thanks for listening, :) C. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Package: initscripts Version: 2.86.ds1-56 Severity: normal Hello, When my laptop is rebooting a CIFS mounted directory is not unmounted before the network interface, controlled by network-manager, is brought down. Bug#321102: user
After reading the way to reproduce this bug as outlined in From: Bastian Venthur [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: a way to reproduce KMail/DIMAP data loss Date: Wed, 10 Jan 2007 13:41:17 +0100 ... A suggested fix would be to prompt the user Changes were made to the disconnected IMAP cache. Commit changes to IMAP server? - Yes No when exiting KMail. Maybe also have an explanation of the consequences. If No is clicked just exit. If Yes is clicked show a bar indicating progress of updating the IMAP server. The purpose of No is for those situations when the person is not connected to the network and updating the server is not an option. (It would be nice if possible connection to the server is checked automatically.) The purpose of Yes is to explicitly commit changes made in case the user forgets about them. (I often check my mail CTRL-L one more time before exiting to synchronize the cache and the server.) An analogy to what Bastian described would be if floppy disk drives had no light on them: Everyone knows don't eject the floppy until the light goes off. If you do then the files might not be updated correctly. What KMail needs is something similar to the light on the floppy disk. Bug#384618: 915resolution: init.d script name incompatible with sysv-rc-conf
Package: 915resolution Version: 0.5.2-4 Severity: normal Tags: patch Hi, sysv-rc-conf is confused by the name of the init script for 915resolution. Because the name starts with a number (/etc/init.d/915resolution), sysv-rc-conf gets confused and creates a broken link S205resolution - ../init.d/5resolution and does not change the actual link S12915resolution - ../init.d/915resolution. It appears as though sysv-rc-config parses the first two numbers in 915resolution as being the priority and 5resolution as being the script name. One solution is to rename the init.d script to i915resolution. sysv-rc-conf has no problem with this. Another possibility is to modify sysv-rc-conf to be smarter about init scripts containing numbers at the beginning. I'll leave it up to you to decide whether this fix is more appropriate! Thanks!
