Bug#748803: mediawiki-extensions-math: works better with this symlink

2014-05-20 Thread c sights
Package: mediawiki-extensions-math
Version: 2:1.0+git20120528-6
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Should not

/etc/mediawiki-extensions/extensions-available/Math.php
be a symlink to
/usr/share/mediawiki-extensions/math/Math.php

?

I'm certainly fumbling about, but (almost) all the other files in this directory
are symlinks to the code.

And the mediawiki page wiki page appears when when I replace the file with that
symlink
rather than a blank page. This error appears in /var/log/apache/error.log
PHP Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required
'/var/lib/mediawiki/WIKINAME/extensions/Math/Math.php'
(include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in
/etc/mediawiki-extensions/extensions-available/Math.php on line 2

Thanks!
Mr Fumbles

Thank you for packaging it,

Bug#685878: [netatalk] version 2.2.3 and 3.0 available

2012-08-25 Thread C Sights
Package: netatalk
Version: 2.2.2
Severity: wishlist

Hello, I see that there are new netatalk versions available.

Changes in 2.2.3
NEW: afpd: support for mdnsresponder
NEW: afpd: new LDAP config option ldap_uuid_string
UPD: based on Unicode 6.1.0
UPD: experimental systemd service files: always run both afpd and
cnid_metad
UPD: afpd: Ensure our umask is not altered by eg pam_umask
UPD: afpd: Use GSS_C_NO_NAME as server principal when Kerberos options -
fqdn and -krb5service are not set, from Jamie Gilbertson
UPD: afpd: Changed behaviour for TimeMachine volumes in case there’s a
problem talking to the CNID daemons. Previously the volume was flagged read-
only and an AFP message was sent to the client. As this might result in
TimeMachine assuming the backup sparse bundle is damaged, we now just switch
the CNID database to an in-memory tdb without the additional stuff.
FIX: afpd: sendfile() on FreeBSD was broken, courtesy of Denis Ahrens
FIX: afpd: Dont use searchdb when doing partial name search
FIX: afpd: Fix a possible bug handling disconnected sessions, NetAFP Bug
ID #16
FIX: afpd: Close IPC fds in afpd session child inherited from the afpd
master process
FIX: dbd: Don’t remove BerkeleyDB if it’s still in use by eg cnid_dbd,
fixes bug introduced in 2.2.2
FIX: debian initscript: start avahi-daemon (if available) before atalkd
FIX: Zeroconf could not advertise non-ASCII time machine volume name

There is also a v3.0, but probably of less interest except in experimental.

Thanks for your packaging efforts!
Chad.

Bug#563297: [aptitude] can mark auto or mark manual subtrees

2010-01-01 Thread C Sights
Package: aptitude
Version: 0.6.1.3-3
Severity: normal

Hi,
If 'm' or 'M' is pushed while a category (e.g. Installed Packages) is
highlighted, all packages in that category are either marked as manually
installed ('m') or automatically installed ('M').
This could be a nice feature, but at the same time it can destroy a lot
of
information about how and why a package is on the system. E.g. the first time
I fat fingered 'm' I saw that all the packages were marked as manually
installed, but didn't know that I had caused it. Then I exited aptitude
normally and the changes were saved. Now I have craploads of libraries marked
as manually installed. Yuck.
Perhaps an intervening confirmation or a message saying you have
pushed 'm'
while selecting a category, thereby marking multiple packages as manually
installed, to revert to previous markings, push 'z'.

Thanks,
C.

It would sure be nice if the show Desktop widget (part of

could be packaged by itself or as part of the base set of widgets that is
installed by default?

Thanks!

Ubuntu has a related bug in their launchpad. (no solution however.)
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/211631

Also, fixing this bug would solve debian bug #477498.

Thanks!

Bug#523468: [kdebase] powerdevil configuration module does not automatically start

2009-04-10 Thread C Sights
Package: kdebase
Version: 4:4.2.2-1
Severity: normal

Hi,
When I open the powerdevil configuration module
(systemsettings-advanced-power management) after KDE first starts I get an
error containing:

The configuration module cannot be started...
Another power manager has been detected.

(This also happened in kde 4.2.1 UNTIL powersaved no longer was started
at
boot. In other words I was able to start the module in 4.2.1 consistently
after turning off powersaved.)
This module does open successfully if I first start/stop dbus
(/etc/init.d/dbus stop; /etc/init.d/dbus start). Then close and reopen
systemsettings. Then open power management.
To me it looks like some kind of dbus access problem, but I don't know
much
about that. Let me know how to proceed and I'll give it a shot.

Thanks!
C.

Bug#488081: (no subject)

2009-03-10 Thread C Sights
Hi,

 On Sat, Mar 07, 2009 at 10:46:56AM -0500, C Sights csig...@fastmail.fm was
heard to say:
# LC_ALL=C apt-cache policy libgnutls26
libgnutls26:
  Installed: 2.2.5-1
  Candidate: 2.2.5-1
  Version table:
 2.4.0-2 0
500 http://ftp.fr.debian.org unstable/main Packages
 2.4.0-1 0
  1 http://ftp.debian.org ../project/experimental/main
Packages *** 2.2.5-1 0
990 http://ftp.fr.debian.org testing/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

aptitude considers all extra (i.e., non-default) versions to be
equal when scoring dependency solutions. That's probably what's
   happening here.

Aptitude is also ignoring the priority of the repositories:
  experimental=1 and unstable=500.  This behavior is bug #473296 .

That's actually just restating what I said above.

Didn't mean to tweak you if I did. I was trying to help you merge
bugs. (I
don't know how to do that myself, and if I did I wouldn't trust my judgement
enough to do it myself.)

   Regardless, thanks
for the reminder: I'm working on the resolver right now and this is a
problem that can be neatly solved with the changes I'm in the process
of making...as soon as I can figure out how best to tweak them to
shoehorn apt preference information into the design. But all the
necessary machinery now exists, where it didn't when this bug was
filed; now it's just a matter of transmitting this requests to the
backend in a reasonably clean and configurable way. Hrm.

(NB: this assumes that what you want is always show solutions
containing a lower-preference package after all solutions that don't
 contain lower-preference packages,

I kind of understand what you are saying here, but it seems like an
easier,
more straight-forward way to _say_ it (at least) is From all packages which
satisfy a dependency, choose the highest priority package. A longer way to
say it is get all packages names which satisfy a dependency, then order them
by priority (highest to lowest), then by version number (highest to lowest).
Chose the first package in the sorted list.
Maybe thinking in terms of entire solutions instead of individual
packages
makes more sense if you know the code. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding this
bug (and it is not the same as bug #473296).

but that seems like the only sane
alternative if we're going to pay attention to these priorities at all)

   Daniel

Best wishes,
C.

Bug#473296: [aptitude] another example of lower priority preferred over higher priority package

2009-01-08 Thread C Sights
Package: aptitude
Version: 0.4.11.11-1~lenny1

Hi all,
Another example of a lower priority package being favored over a higher
priority package when manually upgrading workrave from 1.8.5 to 1.9.0, using
workrave.
The interactive text interface suggests that an Ubuntu package should
be
installed:
libcairomm-1.0-1 [1.6.0-1 (testing, now) - 1.6.4-1 (intrepid)]
even though the package of libcairomm-1.0-1 in the Debian repository
has
higher priority:
-
# apt-cache policy libcairomm-1.0-1
libcairomm-1.0-1:
  Installed: 1.6.0-1
  Candidate: 1.6.0-1
  Version table:
 1.6.4-1 0
 50 http://ftp.egr.msu.edu unstable/main Packages
 1.6.4-1 0
 30 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com intrepid/main Packages
 *** 1.6.0-1 0
990 http://ftp.egr.msu.edu testing/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
-
On the other hand he command-line resolver does the right thing by
suggesting that the higher priority Debian package be installed:
(key line) libcairomm-1.0-1 [1.6.0-1 (testing, now) - 1.6.4-1 (unstable)]
-
# aptitude install -s workrave=1.9.0-6
Reading package lists... Done

The following NEW packages will be installed:

The following packages will be REMOVED:
  workrave-data{u}
1 packages upgraded, 1 newly installed, 1 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 411kB of archives. After unpacking 1188kB will be freed.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  workrave: Depends: libcairomm-1.0-1 (= 1.6.4) but 1.6.0-1 is installed.
Depends: workrave-data (= 1.9.0-6) but it is not installable
The following actions will resolve these dependencies:

Upgrade the following packages:
libcairomm-1.0-1 [1.6.0-1 (testing, now) - 1.6.4-1 (unstable)]
workrave-data [1.8.5-7 (testing, now) - 1.9.0-6 (unstable)]
-
As far as I've tested (very rarely) the command-line resolver seems to
satisfy dependencies based on the priority of the packages. A step in the
right direction would to have the interactive text resolver use the same
logic as the command-line resolver.

Thanks!

implies that it is from August 2008. The most recent date in the changelog
for the Debian package is May 2008.
Updating this package in Debian would probably close this bug.

Bug#491377: iceweasel does not exit completely if gtk-qt-engine-kde4 installed (Firefox is already running, but is not responding)

2008-07-18 Thread C Sights
Package: iceweasel
Version: 3.0.1-1
Severity: normal

Hi,
Iceweasel does not exit completely if gtk-qt-engine-kde4 (1.1-1) is
also
installed. The Iceweasel window disappears if it is quit, but a process
(/usr/lib/iceweasel/firefox-bin -a firefox) remains running in the
background.
When I try to start Iceweasel again a window opens which says
Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you
must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system.
Killing the above mentioned problem allows successful starting if iceweasel.
If gtk-qt-engine-kde4 is uninstalled, Iceweasel quits completely.

I'm not sure if this is an Iceweasel or a gtk-qt-engine-kde4 bug.
Please
redirect if needed!

Thanks for you work,
C.

Bug#481252: [initscripts] umountfs: network fs should be unmounted before network-manager is shutdown

2008-05-15 Thread C Sights
Hi,

thus if NetworkManager need to stop after umountfs, it should use the
 X-Stop-After header.

You probably weren't trying to say that X-Stop-After is the only
change
needed to /etc/init.d/network-manager (I see your additional comments below).
BUT, after adding # X-Stop-After: umountnfs
to /etc/init.d/network-manager, insserv says:

insserv: There is a loop between service dhcdbd and umountnfs
insserv: loop involving service umountnfs at depth 5
insserv: loop involving service NetworkManager at depth 4
insserv: loop involving service avahi at depth 8
insserv: There is a loop between service umountnfs and NetworkManager
insserv: loop involving service dhcdbd at depth 9
insserv: exiting without changing boot order!

Probably you didn't expect this simple hack to work...

I have not investigated this issue, but suspect a solution might
involve looking at the omitpid feature in sendsigs, and changing the
shutdown dependencies of NetworkManager. $remote_fs during shutdown
is the point where /usr/ is guaranteed to still be mounted, and just
before it might be umounted all/most processes are killed by sendsigs.

It appears omitpid causes sendsigs to make exceptions when killing
processes. (?)
I think you are suggesting the following occur during shutdown:
1. sendsigs (but don't kill NetworkManager or any of its dependencies)
2. umountnfs
3. network-manager stop
4. shutdown NetworkManager runtime dependencies.

This order would be a problem if the NetworkManager were on the network
fs
unmounted by umountnfs (e.g. networked /usr/). What is needed, somehow, is
to unmount network fs that are accessed through an interface managed by
NetworkManager, then stop NetworkManager, then umount the rest of the network
fs.

1. sendsigs (but don't kill NetworkManager or deps)
2. umount network fs accessed through NetworkManager
3. network-manager stop
4. shutdown NetworkManager runtime dependencies.
5. unmount the rest of the network fs (e.g. /usr)

Perhaps more easy, there should be a special script to umount /usr,
whether
it be network or not?

1. sendsigs (but don't kill NetworkManager or deps)
2. umount all network file systems except /usr
3. network-manager stop
4. shutdown NetworkManager runtime dependencies.
5. unmount /usr (network or not)
6. networking stop

This last idea seems to be the best b/c the script for unmounting the
network
fs just needs to avoid unmounting /usr, rather than detecting which
mountpoints are provided through an interface managed by NetworkManager.

Thanks for listening, :)
C.

Bug#481246: [rsyslog] LSB header: # Provides: syslog - # Provides: rsyslog

2008-05-14 Thread C Sights
Package: rsyslog
Version: 3.16.1-1
Severity: normal

Hi,
With the current rsyslog and insserv, I had to change the LSB header
of /etc/init.d/rsyslog in order to allow insserv to successfully install.
(The error message was something like syslog already provided).
As suggested in bug #459508, I changed the LSB header from
# Provides: syslog
to
# Provides: rsyslog

insserv afterwards installed without complaint.

Thanks!
C.

Bug#481252: [initscripts] umountfs: network fs should be unmounted before network-manager is shutdown

2008-05-14 Thread C Sights
Package: initscripts
Version: 2.86.ds1-56
Severity: normal

Hello,
When my laptop is rebooting a CIFS mounted directory is not unmounted
before
the network interface, controlled by network-manager, is brought down.
I think this could be fixed by adding NetworkManager to Required-Stop
or Should-Stop of /etc/init.d/umountfs.sh.

Perhaps a separate bug or an indication I don't know what is going
on: /etc/init.d/network-manager and /etc/init.d/network-manager-dispatcher
has $remote_fs in its Required-Start and Required-Stop. Why should
remote_fs be around when there is a possibility that the interface to them
will not exist or will be shutdown?

Thank for all your work with initscripts and insserv!

Bug#426910: a regression because more frequent

2007-08-16 Thread C Sights
Package: kmail
Version: 4:3.5.7-1

Hi,
I consider this a regression b/c though the bug existed previously, it
is now
more frequent and easier to trigger. One can tell this is the case by the
numerous duplicate bugs being filed at the kde bugzilla recently. :(

Bug#431429: conflict between powersaved and kpowersave

2007-07-02 Thread C Sights
Package: kpowersave
Version: 0.7.2-3
Severity: normal

Hi,
There seems to be some conflict between whether kpowersave or
powersaved
handles button presses. After suspending to RAM, then pushing the power
button, the computer wakes up then immediately suspends to disk.
I think powersaved is intercepting the power button event and
hibernating the
computer. The computer wakes up normally if powersaved is not installed.
One oddity is that if I suspend to RAM using the kpowersave icon, then
push
the power button, the computer wakes up normally without immediately suspend
to disk -ing.
Here is a table summarizing the observations:

with powersaved (powersaved default
configuration) -
Push FN+Standby
computer enters standby
Push power button
computer wakes up
then suspends 2 disk

with powersaved (powersaved default
configuration) -
activate suspend to RAM from kpowersave tray icon
computer enters standby
push power button
computer wakes up normally

no powersaved --
pushing FN+Standby
computer enters standby
push power button
computer wakes up

I would like to keep powersaved installed for when I'm not logged in to
KDE,
but a graphical interface is also nice!

Thanks,
C.

Bug#431318: option to submit to lists.debian.org

2007-07-01 Thread C Sights
Package: reportbug-ng
Version: 0.2007.06.27
Severity: wishlist

Hi,
It would be kind of cool if one could report bug to the debian user
mailing
lists for some initial comments. Based on those comments one could decide
whether to actually submit the bug.
The biggest reason to do this with reportbug-ng is that the dependency
info
is so nicely generated. :)

Featuritis? Thanks for the nice program!

Bug#431329: depends on console-utilities

2007-07-01 Thread C Sights
Package: hotkey-setup
Version: 0.1-17
Severity: normal

Hi,
/etc/init.d/hotkey-setup calls 'setkeycodes', which is found in the
console-utilities package. The package hotkey-setup does not depend on
console-utilities package, so setkeycodes is not automatically installed when
hotkey-setup is.

Thanks!

I haven't done so already. Just now I've done a search of bugs.kde.org

found one that is currently open that this debian bug could be tied to:

If you could point me to the mkisofs version that supports 4gb files I

 Hi,
I have just verified that genisoimage can create an .iso which

Bug#419555: [Pkg-lyx-devel] Bug#419555: subfigure.sty not found

2007-04-17 Thread C Sights
But texlive-latex-extra is really large (76 MB, 123 MB installed). I can
add a Suggests for it, but a dependency is probably too strong.

OK.
Yeah, texlive-latex-extra is a fatty. Too bad it isn't broken up into
separate packages? :)
Alternatively, I was thinking of using Miktex Package Manager for
Unix-likes. The webpage claims it downloads packages from CTAN and puts
them in a TDS-compliant TEXMF directectory hierarchy. One would probably
make this a local texmf directory so as not to get in the way of Debian
official texmf directory.

Thanks for your work,
C.

Bug#419555: subfigure.sty not found

2007-04-16 Thread C Sights
Package: lyx
Version: 1.4.4-1
Severity: normal

Hi,
With lyx-1.4.3 the package tetex-extra was depended upon. (I didn't
use the
texlive alternative dependency.) tetex-extra includes the file
usr/share/texmf-tetex/tex/latex/subfigure/subfigure.sty, which was used by
the lyx document created by lyx 1.4.3 .
After installing lyx-1.4.4, subfigure.sty is no longer installed.
Since it
appears that there is a transition to texlive going on, this could be fixed
by depending on texlive-latex-extras.

Thanks!

Bug#321102: user

2007-01-10 Thread C Sights
After reading the way to reproduce this bug as outlined in

From: Bastian Venthur [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Subject: a way to reproduce KMail/DIMAP data loss
Date: Wed, 10 Jan 2007 13:41:17 +0100
...
A suggested fix would be to prompt the user Changes were made to the
disconnected IMAP cache. Commit changes to IMAP server? - Yes No when
exiting KMail. Maybe also have an explanation of the consequences. If No
is clicked just exit. If Yes is clicked show a bar indicating progress of
updating the IMAP server.
The purpose of No is for those situations when the person is not
connected
to the network and updating the server is not an option. (It would be nice
if possible connection to the server is checked automatically.)
The purpose of Yes is to explicitly commit changes made in case the
user
forgets about them. (I often check my mail CTRL-L one more time before
exiting to synchronize the cache and the server.)

An analogy to what Bastian described would be if floppy disk drives had
no
light on them: Everyone knows don't eject the floppy until the light goes
off. If you do then the files might not be updated correctly. What KMail
needs is something similar to the light on the floppy disk.

Thanks !

Bug#384618: 915resolution: init.d script name incompatible with sysv-rc-conf

2006-08-25 Thread c sights
Package: 915resolution
Version: 0.5.2-4
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hi,
sysv-rc-conf is confused by the name of the init script for
915resolution.
Because the name starts with a number (/etc/init.d/915resolution),
sysv-rc-conf gets confused and creates a broken link
S205resolution - ../init.d/5resolution and does not change the actual link
S12915resolution - ../init.d/915resolution.
It appears as though sysv-rc-config parses the first two numbers in
915resolution as being the priority and 5resolution as being the script name.
One solution is to rename the init.d script to i915resolution.
sysv-rc-conf has no problem with this.
Another possibility is to modify sysv-rc-conf to be smarter about init
scripts containing numbers at the beginning. I'll leave it up to you to
decide whether this fix is more appropriate!

Thanks!
C.
