Hi Michelle, I had a look into this issue and could reproduce it on current Debian stable (12) too. Your provided file "text.html" will not be converted. But this is not a fault of the program, your HTML file is broken: - there are 3 strange line breaks (hex: 00 E0 0A) - this img tag is incomplete: http://www.affection.org/forum/smil After fixing both the resulting HTML file (attached) will be parsed successfully. (All other HTML errors, found by a HTML validator, seems to be ignored/tolerated by the parser.) IMO this bug report should be closed. But the second part of my report still does not work after installing python3-gi-cairo package. If I tried to save altered PDF file I got a error message dialog: "not all arguments converted during string formatting" and file will not be saved. It seems to be a different problem. Hi, the reinstalled kernel 3.2.54-2 freezed also several times. I also tried some older kernel like 3.2.41-2+deb7u2 that freezed also. The strange thing is, that my installation CD (running 3.2.51) work fine during installation of a new system or as rescue system. Perhaps there are some problematic modules not loaded? Currently I installed kernel 2.6.32-5-686 from Debian 6 that works fine for some days now. Do you have any suggestion to debug the problem? If so, please describe the problem in detail with - equpment you use - command line you tried - errors you saw. It is not very polite to issue a bug with severity grave in the current state of release cycle together with such less info. I lower severity, because dvgrab works here on current Debian unstable. BTW: Our kernel Kernel: Linux 3.6-trunk-amd64 seems not do be the default. For reporting bugs it is better to use Debian kernels. Hi Martin, I'm still interested in having Afio in Squeeze, but I think we had done all possible to find out the meaning of the original author and have now a long discussion for this issue. Unfortunately I have no news on this. I'm still convinced that Afio is Free software even if the 25 years old license text is not perfect. All contributors over the last years had the same impression. Afio was and is intended to be Free Software. It would be a pity if it will be removed after this long live in Debian. I still hope for comments of other release managers or maintainers of r-depends. So the problem seems to be a not working MySQL server setting, but akonadi should not crash on this. I used KDE components 4.3 without any problem and after upgrading to 4.4 the issue occured. I take it you mean MUA which kmail is and not MTA which kmail is not, but the urgency surprises me. If you cannot do your email with a different tool/on a different system you might want to reconsider the idea of using sid. Eh, come on. SID works for me fine for years. Most errors could be solved or workarounded easily. What is your next suggestion? Using a simpler MUA like Icedove. Perhaps I should think about it and GNOME is also nice. ;-P It would be better to have a save mode for Kmail there it does the basic functions like mail without any akonadi and MySQL stuff. After BIOS I saw message Welcome to GRUB and the PC was rebooted.
I had to boot from a Knoppix CD and installed the old GRUB 0.97
again.

Dvgrab should uncompatible with newer kernel versions, those that uses the nre ieee1394 stack. Sorry, I would disagree. Dvgrab works for me on new fire wire stack with linux-image-2.6.30-2-686. The program report that grabbing is started, but when I terminate dvgrab a few seconds later it report that no frames were found, and no foo file is created. The camera is set to use Motion DV in USB mode, whatever that means. I did find a program capable of dumping information about the V4L2 device, URL:http://blogs.adobe.com/penguin.swf/v4l2-formats.c, and it reports this: /dev/video0 is a V4L2 device named 'DVC' /dev/video0 is capable of video capture /dev/video0 is capable of streaming capture /dev/video0 supports 'SD-DV 50Hz' (compressed format, V4L2_PIX_FMT_DV) I also tested with the version 3.2 in unstable, and this one work. Please update the one in testing with the one in unstable, to get a version working with USB included in Lenny. Lenny is already freezed, so there is no normal way to get dvgrab-3.2 into lenny anymore. I don't want to stress the Release Managers with this request. If you want, you have my support to ask they.
