I've tried again to login root on a virtual console. Every login produce 
the logs in auth.log.

I found that pam_lastlog.so does not exist in libpam-modules 1.5.3-7 but
it exists in 1.5.2-9.1+b1.

I don't know exactly what action produce the logs because I've tried to
log in a virtual console as root but no logs are produce again.

I don't know
if s/-E 'set escape' // everywhere in action.d/ is a good answer to the problem.

4:5.17.5-3 i.e. to the previous version, kde works well.


I do'nt know more precisely if only one package is responsible for the 
problem.

I'm undecided. I see your point that the XDG autostart generator is
maybe a bit chatty, but so are other programs if I look at journalctl
--user.

In version 1:1.4+git20180820-1 when I press maj+P or select the print option
the custom print dialog open. In that dialog I choose the option "print 
test page"
and I modify the size of print images as to have multiple images in one 
page.



There is an upstream report tracking the replacement of the print
dialog with standard GTK dialog [1] - It describes "Proof print not
included" - is this maybe the same problem as what you are referring to?
It's not exactly the same but by reading that I found that there in the 
print dialog an
option "Pages by side" which give multiples images in one page but the 
previous custom

print dialog is more precise because I choose the size I want for an image.

I think with that option I have not found when I make the bug report 
that I observe only

a little regression but It's not really a bug.

After an upgrade last week I observed some problems with kde :
- after ALT- it's possible to type the name of an application but
  after RETURN the application does not start.
- right click on the desktop have no effect (right click on an
  application works well)
- all the applets are listed as "not desinstallable" in the install
  applet dialog.

These problems appear also with a newly created user.

With these bugs it's impossible for me to use kde for normal work.

When I run needrestart just after a reboot I obtain :

Processor microcode update
The currently running processor microcode revision is 0x712 which is
not the expected microcode revision 0xe09.
Restarting the system to load the new processor microcode will not
be handled automatically, so you should consider rebooting.

you don't have written which version you use, testing has 52.4.0-1
unstable is on 52.5.2-2 and especially the apparmor stuff has changed

With perl 5.26 there no warning and it gives the result explained by the

I see these messages in the logs :

lightdm[3386]: Error using VT_WAITACTIVE 7 on /dev/tty0: Interrupted system call

It seems that they appears some weeks ago. I update my system at least
every week and very often every day.

My machine is concerned by the bug #773743 and the message arrive when
there is a try to enter "suspend mode".

I see nothing bad in the files mentionned, for example :

Yeah, all these warnings are about symlinks.  The solution is to use
"find -L", although Wietse seems to have reservations about that (see
his replies in the thread on postfix-users).
Thanks for these explanations. I'll continue to live with theses 
massages, perhaps I'll filter them with logcheck.

I've the problem since the arrival of light-locker some weeks ago. I 
observe the same problem on 3 different laptops under testing or unstable.


The message in the logs is :

Dear Maintainer,

Every time there some program to restart in a session needrestart
write a message on the console used tu run needrestart and send a mail
with the same information.

Please provide an option for that.

An easy way to do that is to consider /etc/needrestart/notify.d/600-mail
as a configuration file. So if I modify it for not sending a mail it will
not be replaced by an upgrade.

ACK - although it is a shell script, it is indeed a configuration file.
needrestart already ignores any hooks matching m/(~|\.dpkg-[^.]+)$/ .
It's strange, after upgrade to 2.1-1 I loose modifications I've done 
before on 600-mail.

On the next upgrade I will observe what happen and give you a report.

 thanks for the full log of needrestart. This was triggered by the
 Optimized Inner Loops Runtime Compiler creating and executing JIT files.
 
 I've patched upstream to ignore those JIT files. The fix will be part of
 needrestart 2.1. To ignore xfce4-(panel|volumed) you could add them to
 $nrconf{blacklist} until a fixed version has reached sid.

Dear Maintainer,

Unfortunately I run needrestart-session under a sudo root terminal and I obtain 
a panel wich says None of your processes need to be restarted and the 
notification Relogin or restart required!

If I do sudo needrestart-session I obtain the same result.

I agree it's a minor bug because if I do needrestart-session it works well.

Hi David,

I made some tests. Hereafter find the results.

First I purge owncloud, apache2 and all it's dependencies so have to be
as like as a fresh install without apache and owncloud.

I install php5-sqlite and owncloud and dependencies.

http://localhost/owncloud does not work it tries to go to
http://www.localhost.com/owncloud/ and in error.log I found :
[core:notice] [pid 30245] AH00052: child pid 30325 exit signal
Segmentation fault (11).

After many tests on enabling modules I found in /etc/owncloud/htaccess
or other related with the cache because during these tests I observe
zend_mm_heap corrupted in error.log I replace php5-xcache by php5-apcu
and after that owncloud works.

After I try to disable modules I've enable just before and owncloud
always works.

The conclusion seems to be : after a fresh installation owncloud does
not work with php5-xcache but it works with php5-apcu.

But for the initial report I am now unable to reproduce because to
conduct these tests I change the configuration of the system. So I agree
to not do more work on it.

I do not exactly know.

 Can you try and enable back any Apache module as needed by
 /etc/owncloud/htaccess?
I've done that yesterday and after that owncloud works. Your message
arrives before I send you a complementary report so I give it now. As
you say I enabled modules as needed by /etc/owncloud/htaccess but I
don't exactly know what modules I enabled from a stock apache2 package.
By the way my enabled modules are :

2 weeks, answer me if you want that.

I've installed 208-1 and it's better but not completely.

I begin the test from a graphical session and I do :
- Ctrl-Alt-F1
- login as root
- type systemctl start debug-shell.service to have a true rescue console
if there are problems
- type systemctl rescue
- I obtain in-line the prompt to give the root password
- I type the root password
- I can type some commands and after about 15 seconds the screen is
erased and I obtained the classic login screen on virtual console
- I type root
- before asking for password it is write System is going down
- after entering the password it takes 45 seconds to have the prompt
- I can do what I want in the console
- if I closed the session I obtain the prompt to login but I see in tty9
that there are no more processes running than before I close the session.

The directory /var/lib/lightdm-data does not exist and /var/lib/lightdm exist.

On another computer (also in testing up to date) I have not this message and I 
found no difference in the 
list of install packages related with lightdm.

I think I have this message since march 2014 when I began to use systemd, 
before with init I have not the message.

If you think it helps I can create the directory /var/lib/lightdm-data to see 
what happen after that.

Bug#675710: colord-sane write errors in syslog when USB disk is switch on

I've made complementary tests.

With the HP PSC 1610 printer (printer, scanner and SD card reader) 
switched off when I insert a USB key or switch on a USB disk colord 
write no messages and with cups and colord and colord-sane running.


On a PC wich is not connect to the scanner/printer there are no messages 
when a USB disk is connected and with colord-sane running.


I think with these observations that your explanation is not complete, 
it does not answer why there are messages only if my printer/scanner is 
connected and switched on.

I obtain the same errors when I switch on my HP PSC 1610 printer which have
a card reader in it.

This appears to be colord-sane identifying the presence of a new USB
device and trying to probe to see if it's a USB scanner. colord-sane
deliberately doesn't have permission to do this for arbitrary USB
devices, just things that we identify as scanners.

This (should be) is harmless, but it could be silenced. Probably by only
attempting to probe devices udev knows to be scanners.

auto-move-windows works fine with for example icedove, iceweasel, zim 
I put freecell.desktop in the list and when I start Freecell from the
application menu the window is opened on the current workspace.

I tried to fix on different workspace but with no result. I tried also with
others desktops and it seems that it does not work when the name of the 
desktop is not the same as the name of the program executed by the desktop.

For information I put a copy of the key 
org.gnome.shell.extensions.auto-move-windows :

When I read the manual. I do F1 I arrive on the page Zim user manual
and if I click on Getting started I stay on the page Zim user manual.

If I copy /usr/share/zim/manual on my home page and after if I open
~/../manual/notebook.zim then links work perfectly. I can navigate in the
manual by following the links.

When you install ploader if the dependency perlmagick is given by perlmagick 
package then ploader works fine but if the dependency perlmagick is given by 
package graphicsmagick-libmagick-dev-compat then ploader does not work when you 
add images.

With graphicsmagick-libmagick-dev-compat you obtain errors like these :
