Bug#337701: gsnes9x: looks for a joystick at /dev/js0 when the defualt location seems to be at /dev/input/js0

Since devfs there was a migration from /dev/js0 to /dev/input/js0.
Although up to now it included a symlink from /dev/js0
 to /dev/input/js0.
It's not a solution to just use /dev/input/js0, because it wouldn't work
on systems without udev/sysfs oder devfs.

I'll have to patch it, to autodetect it...

Sounds like the best way.

Thanks for taking the time to look into this.

Bug#337133: mozilla-firefox: Checkbox next to extensions to be updated not working

2005-11-02 Thread Grahame
Package: mozilla-firefox
Version: 1.0.7-1
Severity: minor

When there are extensions that can be updated the checkbox next to each name
doesn't work correctly. It always shows up as unchecked whether the extension
is selected for upgrade or not. It seems to be a purely graphical error as
unselecting extensions does indeed cause them to not be upgraded.

If further explanation is required I'll take some screenshots next time I
upgrade the extensions I use.

I'm afraid this points to a corruption problem with your status file,
not a problem with the package.

You can try restoring from /var/lib/dpkg/status-old; otherwise, you will
probably have to edit the file by hand to correct the error.

Yep that worked, thanks :)

Bug#328763: gnome-mud: support for colour and sound triggers

2005-09-17 Thread Grahame
Package: gnome-mud
Version: 0.10.7-1
Severity: wishlist

Some muds such as the Discworld mud ban the use of any trigger which sends
text to the server but allow the use of colour triggers and sound triggers
which are purely client side.

colour and sound triggers simple change the colour of the triggering text,
or plays a sound file selected by the user, to help make certain events such
as dropping weapons, losing a shield, etc more noticable.

Bug#328765: gnome-mud: Allow deleting of room connections from auto mapper

2005-09-17 Thread Grahame
Package: gnome-mud
Version: 0.10.7-1
Severity: wishlist

currently the only way to remove an incorrect link between two rooms is to
delete one of the connecting rooms and then rebuild that section of the map.

It would be much better if the user could right-click on a link and delete
just that.

Bug#328766: gnome-mud: Allow linking of zones in the automapper

2005-09-17 Thread Grahame
Package: gnome-mud
Version: 0.10.7-1
Severity: wishlist

Some games have a number of distinct areas that can be mapped seperately such
as towns and cities. It would be great if these zones could be linked together
such that when you move through a certain exit it unloads the current map and
loads the map containing the next room.

Bug#328768: gnome-mud: An option for making the currently loaded map read only

2005-09-17 Thread Grahame
Package: gnome-mud
Version: 0.10.7-1
Severity: wishlist

When walking around it's possible to make simple mistakes which add wrong rooms
and links between rooms. Once the user has finished mapping it would be useful
to have a button to toggle the map between a writable state and a read-only
state to prevent these mistakes from altering a map unintentionally.

Bug#328770: gnome-mud: Automapper window's scrollbars don't allow complete viewing of large maps

2005-09-17 Thread Grahame
Package: gnome-mud
Version: 0.10.7-1
Severity: normal

I have quite a large map of ankh-morpork from the discworld mud but if I'm
in the southern section of the map I'm unable to view the far northern region
as the scrollbars don't allow scrolling that far. I have to move north quite
a bit before I can see the northern section fully.

The same applies if I'm in the north and want to look south a long way, or if
I'm far west and want to look far east, etc.

Bug#328771: gnome-mud: Sometimes need to resize automapper window to be able to use scrollbars

2005-09-17 Thread Grahame
Package: gnome-mud
Version: 0.10.7-1
Severity: normal

If I load a map that is larger than the automapper window then, more often than
not, the scrollbars in the direction that the map is larger than the window are
the full size of the window width/length and cannot be used to scroll the map.

To workaround this I have to resize the window and the scrollbars become the
propper size.

Bug#328772: gnome-mud: Speedwalk to room option on automapper

2005-09-17 Thread Grahame
Package: gnome-mud
Version: 0.10.7-1
Severity: wishlist

It would be useful if I could rightclick on a room on my maps and issue a
'speedwalk to here' command that calculates an optimal path from my current
location to the destination and then send the commands to the mud.

On this subject it would also probably be helpful to have support for one-way
room links and blocked roomlinks (ie for rooms that you don't want the
pathfinding routine to consider as part of speedwalk routes).

Bug#328773: gnome-mud: Make rooms on the automapper draggable for easier rearranging

2005-09-17 Thread Grahame
Package: gnome-mud
Version: 0.10.7-1
Severity: wishlist

Sometimes a minor mistake is made when creating an automap which would be
quicker
resolved by simply dragging the room to the correct position than deleteing the
room and redoing that section of the map.

In general if you want to make the gnome-mud automapper more useful then get a
fairly recent version of zmud and look at their automapper functionality, it
isn't perfect but it is much easier to use and is far more powerful than the
current mapper included.

The wishlist features I've suggested so far are just the things I've personally
found to be lacking without even refering to zmud. Gnome-mud has so much
potential as a full featured GUI linux mud client.

Bug#320599: easytag: automatic field length option for track number field

2005-07-30 Thread Grahame
Package: easytag
Version: 1.99.7-1
Severity: wishlist

An option that automatically sets the correct level of padding for the track
number would be useful. So if there are, say, 1500 tracks in a directory then
the padding is set to 4 automatically but if theres only 56 tracks the padding
changes to 2.

I'd suggest this as an option rather than the default so that the user can
override if they wish.

aah cool, no way logcheck could read inside of that dir.
sorry for my sendmail ignorance, but is that the default permission,
or did you harden it somehow?
is that an sarge installation or woody upgrade?

It was a standard woody install that I upgraded to sarge. I haven't touched
the permissions on this directory myself so I assume that whatever program
created it set them like that.

either you change aboves dir to be readable for the adm group
 chgrp adm /var/log/mail/
(shouldn't pose problems to sendmail as it doesn't write aboves
  file with smmsp group permissions).

Certainly shouldn't! I just double-checked, I don't even have sendmail
installed :)

or you add logcheck to aboves group:
 adduser --quiet logcheck smmsp

whats you mail transfer agent? (exim4, postfix, ..)
does it work fine with aboves change?

I'm using exim4, and yes the change you suggested seems to have fixed the
problem.

i guess so, as nobody uses that group the permission group setting
of /var/log/mail seems more like an accident.

now that logcheck should run without troubles, can you confirm?
i guess we can close that bug.

Yes, I'm fine with closing the bug

thanks for your feedback, i'm happy to hear logcheck is running fine. :)
although this bug may need to be reassigned to the package, which
created that strange group ownership of /var/log/mail.

exim4 usually logs to /var/log/exim4 on all of standard installs i see
around me. so what mail subsystem of yours is logging to aboves dir?
do you have some custom syslog (or syslog-ng) rules that direct
 messages there?

maybe we can grasp which packet added the smmsp user.
what does belows command on your box show:
 egrep smmsp -r /var/lib/dpkg/info/

/var/lib/dpkg/info/sendmail.postrm: groupdel smmsp 2/dev/null

As you said earlier, it looks like a sendmail problem except that I don't
have it installed. I don't recall having ever installed it previously
either.

Bug#312194: k3b: K3b Also hangs for me

2005-06-28 Thread Grahame
Package: k3b
Version: 0.12.1-1
Followup-For: Bug #312194

Starting k3b from the kde kicker menus causes k3b to start and then crash
imediately, however if I try starting it from an xterm then k3b hangs at the
splash screen as the original reporter said.

Starting from an xterm doesn't yield any information, useful or otherwise.

I'll paste/attach an strace to a future update.

The previous version worked with no problems the last time I used it
(~1 week ago).

Bug#315979: mozilla-plugin-vlc: Crashes firefox when trying to open a page that uses this plugin

2005-06-27 Thread Grahame
Package: mozilla-plugin-vlc
Version: 0.8.1.svn20050314-1
Severity: important

I created a simple demo page using some sample code that is included in the
docs on the vlc website. I'll add the file to a follow up email.

Before installing the plugin the sample page shows an area where the video is
to be played in and a few links below to control the video (play, pause, stop
and fullscreen). With the plugin installed the page crashes as soon as it is
opened.

I found another site with a demo page included[0], but that too crashes with
the plugin installed.

In both cases when I uninstall the plugin the pages display fine, albeit with
no video.

Bug#315979: Sample page as mentioned in previous message

2005-06-27 Thread Grahame White
This simple example was cut 'n pasted from the docs on the vlc website. I
then modified it to point at a small sample avi instead of the example url
that was included.

I've check the avi and it plays fine in vlc so I don't think it's a problem
there, but I can send the file if you want, it is pretty small, only about
200kb or so.

Bug#308860: libflash-mozplugin: Crashes firefox when trying to view some sites

2005-05-12 Thread Grahame
Package: libflash-mozplugin
Version: 0.4.11-4
Severity: important

When trying to visit some sites that contain flash elements mozilla-firefox
crashes. If I remove the libflash-mozplugin package then the same sites
load normally.

Running firefox from the commandline and then opening the following site:
http://www.hpana.com

produces the following output:
NP_Initialize
New
SetWindow
Segmentation fault

I also get the same output from visiting the following sites:
www.countingdown.com (follow the links to any of the movies listed)
for example www.countingdown.com/movies/1371/
flasharcade.com/game.php?additup2

I'm sure there are plenty of others too.

Bug#308122: kid3: autoselect next item in frames listbox

2005-05-07 Thread Grahame
Package: kid3
Version: 0.5-2
Severity: wishlist

if you delete an item from the frames listbox then you have to then select
another item to delete manually. It would, imo, be more useful to
automatically select the next item of the list. That way the top item could
be selected and a few clicks on the delete button would then be able to remove
the entire frames list.

Bug#308079: fakeroot hangs

2005-05-07 Thread Grahame
Package: fakeroot
Version: 1.2.10
Severity: important

I tried to build a kernel using the kernel-package package as a normal user
using fakeroot, however when I issue the following command:

$fakeroot make-kpkg clean

nothing happened, thinking the system might just be a little slow I went
off and did some other stuff on a different computer. When I came back over
an hour later nothing had happened. I killed the process and tried again,
the same happened this time too. Thinking it might be a problem with
kernel-package I became root and tried:

#make-kpkg clean

within a couple of seconds, and a few screens of output, the command had
finished.

I tried doing an strace on the first command I issued and I can send the
output if you think it will help.

In the sharedfiles tab the file information listed runs together. Normally the

Bug#304694: kanatest: Finer control of which kana to test

2005-04-14 Thread Grahame
Package: kanatest
Version: 0.3.6-2
Severity: wishlist

It'd be nice to be able to select sub-sections of kana to test. For example only
test the user on k-group kana, or only test kana with no modifiers. Being able
to
learn a small subset and expand on the kana learnt would help those, like me,
that
find learning a second language difficult.

Bug#303813: bittornado-gui: Majority of downloads are failing with a corrupted error message

Can you try installing the version of bittornado that is at

problem? If it fixes it, I will upload that version to the archive.

 Thanks!
 Micah

Looking good so far, it's even managed to recover one of the 'corrupted'
downloads whereas before it would have started the download all over
again.

I'll wait a little while longer before I defiantly say it's fixed as
sometimes it took a good few hours for the file(s) to corrupt.

Grahame

OK, I've had a couple of torrents running all night and no corruption
errors have appeared so I'm going to say that the updated package fixes
the bug.

D'oh, not five minutes after I sent the last message and one of my
downloads corrupted.

So no the new package doesn't fix the bug.

 Micah

I was checking to see what processes I had running and noticed that I had
an instance of that torrent still downloading (even though I'd managed to
complete it a little while back). The odd thing is that I didn't have a
window open for that torrent even though I'd been using bittornado-gui.

I'm wondering if after failing to download earlier, and me then closing the
window, the process didn't stop properly and was interfering with the
download I'd started with the new package (hope that makes some kind of
sense).

Anyhow, the other torrents that I have running (and have had running since
I installed the updated package) all seem to be OK.

So I'm going to say that it seems to have done the job. Of course if I do
get a torrent that gives the same problems I'll send the link for testing.

Thanks for your time.

Bug#303813: bittornado-gui: Majority of downloads are failing with a corrupted error message

2005-04-08 Thread Grahame
Package: bittornado-gui
Version: 0.3.10-3
Severity: important

I've tried downloading files from a variety of different trackers and most of
downloads fail with a download corrupted error message. If the torrent is for
more than one file then I'm sometimes able to download each file individually
(as long as I copy the completed file to a safe location). If, however, the
torrent is for a single large file, such as an iso for example, then I'm out
of luck as the file will, more often than not, fail.

Before I moved to the amd64 distribution I had no problems so I'm thinking it
maybe a problem with the port.

This is a bug in kernel-package 8.120:
http://bugs.debian.org/294751

An upgrade to 8.121 will fix the issue.

Bug#294891: kernel-source-2.6.10: fails to build

2005-02-11 Thread Grahame
Package: kernel-source-2.6.10
Version: 2.6.10-5
Severity: important
Justification: fails to build from source

I was trying to build a kernel using kernel-package.

All was ok until I started the build.

I did
make-kpkg clean
and that finished with no errors. I then did
make-kpkg --revision=custom.1 kernel_image and got the following error:

make: *** No rule to make target onf.vars', needed by tamp-configure'. Stop.

I've compiled a number of kernels in the past using this method with no
problems.

I've just posted a bug report against kernel-source-2.6.10 with the same
error message. Looks like I may have reported against the wrong package.

I went through the same steps:
 make-kpkg clean
 make-kpkg --revision=custom.1 kernel_image

That's when I got the error.

Bug#289339: Might be GPL'd

2005-01-16 Thread Grahame White
I installed this game on a friend's windows PC and had to agree to a
click-through GPL license during the install.

This may mean the game is only GPL'd on windows but maybe not. There is no
licence listed on the web page or in the source code itself.
