Bug#1055601: darktable: Segfault in first run after system hang

2023-11-08 Thread Greg Schmidt
Package: darktable
Version: 4.4.2-1+b1
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: g...@desk1.attlocal.net

Dear Maintainer,

I was using darktable when my system hung. I had to reboot to recover. After
the reboot I started darktable and
it segfaulted. A backtrace was created which implicated dlopen. It was
attempting to load "libMesaOpenCL.so.1".
A subsequent start of darktable was normal.

Content of /tmp/darktable_bt_T7K9D2.txt follows:

this is darktable 4.4.2 reporting a segfault:

warning: Currently logging to /tmp/darktable_bt_T7K9D2.txt. Turn the logging
off and on to make the new setting effective.

Bug#982998: chkrootkit chkproc uses incorrect value for max_pid

2021-02-17 Thread Greg Schmidt
Package: chkrootkit
Version: 0.54-1
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: g_w_schm...@sbcglobal.net

Dear Maintainer,
   * What led up to the situation?

Executed chkrotkit and had a error in the report

`Checking `bindshell'...not infected
 Checking `lkm'... OooPS, not expected 3778733 value
 chkproc: Warning: Possible LKM Trojan installed
 chkdirs: nothing detected

Hmm, what does that mean?

grabbed the source and see that while reading thru the output from a 'ps maux'
the pid field is checked against MAX_PROCESSES

ret = atol(p);
if ( ret < 0 || ret > MAX_PROCESSES )
{
fprintf (stderr, " OooPS, not expected %ld value\n", ret);
exit (2);
}

and
#define MAX_PROCESSES 9

BUT on my system the value of pid_max is much higher
root@desk1:~# cat /proc/sys/kernel/pid_max
4194304

Maybe the tool could use the /proc value rather than
a compiled in value.

Bug#801630: /sbin/mke2fs: mkfs fails on cryptosetup usb drive

2015-10-15 Thread Greg Schmidt
I can't reproduce the problem. The sequence of comands that failed
repeatedly are are now working as I expect. The cheap'o thumdrive is
indeed slow. mkfs took just under 15min and didn't generate the journal
entry. The device busy message from cryptsetup is gone.

Between the bugreport and re-testing I updated my system, rebooted and
copied /dev/zero to the thumbdrive. So I don't know what may have caused
the 'blocked for more than 120 seconds' journal entry. I see that the
system was in fsync(). I monitored the meminfo.writeback with /proc and
could see it going down while the mkfs was in the "writing superblocks
and filesystem ..." step.

Noticed an inconsistency in the information related to acoustic management.
The capabilities reported by -I imply that acoustic management is
supported but attempting to use -M to adjust the value fails.

hdparm -I

shows: Recommended acoustic management value: 208, current value: 0

hdparm -M

shows: acoustic = not supported

Bug#624157: rsync memory corruption in hard link hash

2011-04-26 Thread Greg Schmidt

On 04/26/2011 12:43 AM, greg schmidt wrote:

Sorry, the patch I proposed doesn't work, in fact it doesn't really
change any thing. I was not familiar with the post decrement used in the
test clause of the for and didn't understand the code. It seems that my
locally compiled version just fails less often. Maybe 1 in 10 tries. The
fault signature changed to

rsync: hlink.c:538: finish_hard_link: Assertion `node != ((void *)0)
node-data != ((void *)0)' failed.

rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (25 bytes received so far) [sender]
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(601)
[sender=3.0.7]

It may be prudent to reduce the priority or close this report. I will
spend a bit more time attempting to isolate the problem. While the
difference between the backintime snapshot and the working copy expose
the problem.

Bug#563119: devicekit-disks: Automount stopped working with message Not authorized

2010-04-15 Thread Greg Schmidt
Another data point, My usb drives (vfat) stopped auto mounting when
plugged in recently. After reading this bug report I ran
ck-list-sessions, There was no entry for the active session. After a
system restart/ login the session was there and the mount worked.

I don't know why my session was hosed, I'll be watching it.

Bug#561027: [glabels] problem printing with nimbus sans L font

2009-12-13 Thread Greg Schmidt

Package: glabels
Version: 2.2.5-1
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

A label that had worked failed to print. Cups was reporting the print
job complete. I enabled PS errors on my samsung ML-2851ND and got output
that reported a problem. ERROR: undefined, OFFENDING COMMAND: 0a, STACK:
false, --mark--,

The label displayed ok in print preview. I printed the label to a file
and it displayed properly in xpdf, and print was successful.

Then I created a new label with one text object like the failing case
but with out modifying any parameters. It printed successfully, I
modified one parameter of the test case at a time targeting a match with
the failing case. When I matched the font selection, Nimbus Sans L, the
print of the test case failed.

I created a document in openoffice that used the Nimbus Sans L font and
it printed ok.

I'm not convinced that this is a glabels problem, but am not sure how to
further isolate the problem. The font cache is kinda mysterious.

Bug#560424: [synaptic] Confused by APT::Default-Release vs synaptic-preferences-distribution

2009-12-10 Thread Greg Schmidt

Package: synaptic
Version: 0.63
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

The setting in the synaptic preferences-distribution tab can be inconsistent
with the APT::Default-Release setting in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/*. This may result in
differences in versions selected for installation/upgrade by apt-get,
update-manager and synaptic.

In my case it caused the update-manager to report several hundred out of date
packages after adding unstable to my sources.list and setting the the
preferences-distribution to testing. I don't use update manager but the
update-notifier was nice. I may be wrong but I thought synaptic was a GUI for
apt-get, If the various package tools aren't compatible then the package
dependencies should be set to conflict. Right?
