Bug#494642: moodle: should this package be orphaned?

2008-08-11 Thread Isaac Clerencia
While reviewing some packages, your package came up as a package that
should maybe be orphaned by its maintainer, because:
Yes, I agree with all this.

If you think that it should be removed from Debian instead of being
orphaned, please reply to this bug and tell so.
Well, I'd really like to find a new maintainer, several people have
approached me about it, but in the end nobody took over maintainership.
I think it may be worth orphaning it for some months to see if somebody
steps up. If there is no success I am afraid it would need to be removed.

If you agree that it should be orphaned, send the following commands
to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (replace nn with this bug's number):

 severity nn normal
 reassign nn wnpp
retitle nn O: packagename -- short package description
Will do soon

Obviously, there isn't much package maitenance happening here anymore. What I
propose is that I put the package into the SVN repository at pkg-postgresql,
add any interested parties as comaintainers, including myself and the current
maintainer. We should really do some work on this package before the lenny
 release.

Unless someone objects, I will proceed with this plan in a week or two.
Feel free to add this package to the pkg-postgresql SVN repository, I'll try
to help if needed but my I don't have much free time to work in Debian
nowadays (as you can see by the shape of the package).

Thank you for stepping up to take care of phppgadmin

Bug#436164: Will be fixed in KDE4

2007-08-06 Thread Isaac Clerencia
The xpdf in kpdf right now is 3.02, incompatible with 3.01, which is the
base of poppler up to 0.5 and thus can't be easily changed. When poppler 0.6
comes out it should be easy to patch kpdf to work against that.

Lenny will surely ship with KDE4, which includes a new document viewer which
replaces kpdf and which uses poppler instead of shipping an internal xpdf
copy.

Bug#420604: It persists

2007-06-19 Thread Isaac Clerencia
hmmm, just tell us if the problem reappears, we will purge
/var/db/nscd/* between major libc upgrades to avoid those problems in
 the future.
Yeah, the problem persists, I'm having this problem in two mail servers. I've
setup a script to detect nscd breakages, which deletes the database and
restarts nscd. It still fails again some hours later.

In addition, when performing lots of nscd queries (i.e., ls -l over a huge
dir) I sometimes get a SIGABRT inside getpwuid().

Hi, Marga.

If you intend to continue translating Wesnoth strings, it would be really
better if you push those changes upstream. Otherwise you may up translating
stuff that is already translated and you'll be sure it gets included.

If you send it to me I can include it in this Debian package and rebuild the
package, but your changes will be lost for the next version as I'm not in
charge of Wesnoth's Spanish translation.

You should have a look at http://www.wesnoth.org/wiki/SpanishTranslation ,
contact the Spanish translation maintainer and join the team if you intend to
translate Wesnoth.

Your package includes a copy of PHPMailer, which also is packaged as

 CVE-2007-3215)

Moodle's integration of phpmailer requires some modifications to phpmailer, so
I can't just use Debian's phpmailer.

The current vulnerability doesn't even affect Moodle. I could have said it
before so I know that since last Wednesday. Sorry for that.

Well, I've already applied it to upstream, both for branch 1.2 and trunk.
There are some new strings in 1.2.1 and a bit more in trunk, so it's not at
100% already :D

About Debian, do you plan to contribute more translations or should I try to
upload a wesnoth 1.2-2 to etch already?

It would be great if we could have wesnoth (55 fuzzies, 78 untranslated) and
the tutorial (99 untranslated) completely translated too :)

I uploaded 1.1.13 to experimental and then (yesterday) 1.1.14 to unstable so

Package: libpng12-0
Version: 1.2.13-4

starting from 1.2.13 libpng hangs when saving profile in the zlib

This is due because of a miscalculation of the profile size from the

the size of the profile is coded as unsigned char.

It causes krita to hang when saving a png file.

This causes the X server to freeze (unless you kill Krita very soon). X
server can only be killed by using remote shell (CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE does
not respond anymore), therefore likely causes data loss in X applications.

The bug does not appear in Krita 1.5.2 (but has already appeared in earlier

I have not checked if wesnoth version 1.0.10 from Sid bundles this
version. Wesnoth of Etch seems to use an older version. I should also
point out that this font is avalailable as a part of a searate package.
Wesnoth doesn't bundle any font, it just depends on ttf-dejavu and makes a
link to the font.

Perhaps there is a missing dependency on the package that actually

Uhm, the wesnoth package (which is the only package that uses wesnoth-data)

I will move that Depends: to wesnoth-data in next upload.

It will be fixed in next upstream release. In the meanwhile you can edit:

The de_utf8 language pack is available from moodle. It seems that it

package. And if there are some more, which you don't provide, ship
them also with the debian package.
Why isn't de_utf8 included in the moodle upstream tarball then? Anyway IIRC
Moodle is moving to utf8 for every language in 1.6, which should be out

stable : Version 1.0.2 is the latest stable version, updated with several

1.0.x online multiplayer community is very large and user-made campaign
server has a robust content selection.

development : This version is recommended for coders and campaign

I'm aware.

May be it is just a matter of reviving the lastest 1.0.x packaging under the
 name wesnoth-stable ?
May be ... I'll let you know if it happens.

this is very strange and should not have happened. Can you now that you

If it shows this correctly in parted, then there is something horribly
 wrong with partman.

You're right. we (upstream wesnoth) have restructured the campaigns and as
Demilich was (in theory) a The Dark Hordes-only unit it has been moved
there. As a workaround while it's fixed you can install the package
wesnoth-tdh and copy

In answer to bug #345930, the cron script was changed to use php4-cli
instead of wget on the web server.

The previous cron script had wget output sent to /dev/null. The new
script doesn't do this, so it generates a mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] This
happens every 5 minutes which is rather a lot of mails.

Could I suggest this change to /etc/cron.d/moodle:

 - */5 * * * * www-data [ -f /usr/share/moodle/admin/cron.php ]
 /usr/bin/php4 -f /usr/share/moodle/admin/cron.php + */5 * * * * www-data [
 -f /usr/share/moodle/admin/cron.php ] /usr/bin/php4 -f
 /usr/share/moodle/admin/cron.php /dev/null
Yup, you're right, sorry :(

I would fix it soon.

Best regards

Bug#347710: libavahi-qt3-dev propagates dependencies needlessly

2006-01-12 Thread Isaac Clerencia
Package: libavahi-qt3-dev
Version: 0.6.1-4
Severity: important

The output of pkg-config --libs avahi-qt3 includes a number of
libraries which only are needed when building static binaries; this
causes unnecessary library dependencies in debian packages:
% pkg-config --libs avahi-qt3
-L/usr/X11R6/lib -lavahi-qt3 -lqt-mt -laudio -lXt -ljpeg -lpng -lz -lXi
-lXrender -lXrandr -lXcursor -lXinerama -lXft -lfreetype -lfontconfig
-lXext -lX11 -lm -lSM -lICE -ldl -lpthread

Please change /usr/lib/pkgconfig/avahi-qt3.pc to just output the
required libs (-lavahi-qt3 -lqt-mt I guess) just like avahi-glib does:
% pkg-config --libs avahi-glib
-lavahi-glib -lglib-2.0

Bug#347360: qt4-x11: FTBFS in ARM (no matching function for call to 'getXDefault(const char [4], const char [6], qreal*))

2006-01-10 Thread Isaac Clerencia
Package: qt4-x11

qt4 is FTBFS'ing in ARM with the following problem:
kernel/qapplication_x11.cpp: In function 'void

kernel/qapplication_x11.cpp:1547: error: no matching function for call

kernel/qapplication_x11.cpp: At global scope:
kernel/qapplication_x11.cpp:1185: warning: 'void getXDefault(const
char*, const char*, double*)' defined but not used

the problem is that in ARM qreal is defined as float and not as double,
I guess the easiest fix would be to add another implementation of
getXDefault with prototype:
void getXDefault(const char*, const char*, float*) similar to the double
one in kernel/qapplication_x11.cpp.

Yeah, it happens, but it's Debian's way, you can only use languages whose

I've already opened a bug against belocs-locales-data to see if they can

Please check your facts before submitting bugs at severity grave.
Thanks. (See attached transcript.)

Well, if the packagee do not include any binary and no doc files then
 this IS a grave bug.
Sure, but the fact is that the package include the binary and the doc files,
you just need to install it (not possible in Sid just now because of other
issues).

kdm was in state installed on my system. This strange state that no real
files are in the package was the result of an upgrade several days ago.
Can you tell me how can you have kdm installed in your system without having
kdelibs, kdelibs-bin or qt installed?

Versions of packages kdm depends on:
 ...
pn kdebase-bin none (no description available)
pn kdelibs4 none (no description available)
 ...
pn libqt3c102-mt none (no description available)

I don't know. This was the result of a normal apt-get update; apt-get
 dist-upgrade call.
Adeodato asked some days ago to not dist-upgrade your KDE until he tells
otherwise. You can recover a working KDE by following some advices in
messages sent to the debian-kde mailing list in the last days.

This is the best _sincere_ advice I can give to you: stop using
unstable.

Well, I have no problemes by myself using unstable but if there is
something not working this is a bug and I will report them if it is not
still reported and not fixed with some uploads.

If no one is reporting bugs in unstable then buggy software goes to
stable and there will be no sense for unstable anymore.

Unfortunality there is a tag testing but no tag sid or unstable when
 reporting bugs.
Everything you have said makes sense when you track Debian development and are
aware of the current status of unstable.

Just now unstable is enjoying the C++ transition. During the transition, as
explained by Adeodato in a message some weeks ago, KDE is *expected* to be
un-dist-upgradable for some weeks. In that message Adeodato explicitly told
to not dist-upgrade KDE.

The facts are:
a) you run apt-get update apt-get dist-upgrade (against the previous
advice). Of course, you didn't checked the output of apt-get, so you didn't
realized it was uninstalling lots of packages
b) as a consecuence of a), you broke your KDE installation, found that the
package kdm didn't have a binary (damn!, it had been deinstalled in a)) and
reported it as a bug without checking if the package was installed
c) you keep arguing and blaming others of your faults

So the point is: NO. Reporting problems already known, announced and expected
by the developers doesn't help at all.

After an upgrade, KDE menus dissapear, and are not regenerated even if I
rename .kde. Menu items in kcontrol and kinfocenter also dissapear, and I
must indicate what program use when I click any icon on my desktop or file
manager writting it (no menu show). Konqueror seems to work well.
Please, check existent bugs before reporting new ones.

Check http://bugs.debian.org/323747 .

Downgrading kdelibs-data to the previous version should fix your problem.

Ok, it will be included in the next phppgadmin upload.

Hi, Josselin.

I have 0-day NMUed libsdl-mixer1.2 to force it to be rebuilt against
a newer libsmpeg version built with g++4 (basically to make libsdl-mixer1.2
depend on libsmpeg0c2). I've only changed Build-Depends to tighten the smpeg
depends to libsmpeg-dev (= 0.4.5+cvs20030824-1.3).
