Bug#961296: mirrors: apt not working on an IPv6 only host with a ipv6 only (local) resolver

2020-05-22 Thread Jens Link
Package: mirrors
Severity: important

-- System Information:
Debian Release: 10.4

Architecture: amd64 (x86_64)

Kernel: Linux 3.16.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores)
Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8),
LANGUAGE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8)
Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash
Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system)

When trying to setup a IPv6 only Debian stable) VM with a localy installed
resolver apt (update / install /...) fails.

deb.debian.org is a CNAME for debian.map.fastly.net. There are no records
for fastly.net so
any DNS querys from an IPv6 only resolver will not work.

When entering an existing IPv6 address for a new installtion the installer
seems hang in

Bug#782699: debian-boot: IPv6 prefix notation in the installer

2015-04-16 Thread Jens Link
Package: debian-boot
Severity: normal
Tags: d-i ipv6

-- System Information:
Debian Release: 7.8
  APT prefers stable
  APT policy: (500, 'stable')
Architecture: amd64 (x86_64)

Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores)
Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8)
Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash

When using IPv6 addresses in the installer the prefix (netmask) has do be
entered in
hex (e.g. :::::). I think this is highly unusual and I have
never seen
this notation before.

RFC 4291 2.3 states:

The text representation of IPv6 address prefixes is similar to the
way IPv4 address prefixes are written in Classless Inter-Domain
Routing (CIDR) notation [CIDR]. An IPv6 address prefix is
 represented by the notation:

ipv6-address/prefix-length

  where

ipv6-addressis an IPv6 address in any of the notations listed in Section
2.2.

prefix-length is a decimal value specifying how many of the leftmost
contiguous bits of the
 address comprise the prefix.

On the other hand the Prefix is displayed as 255.255.255.255 in the
configuration dialog when
supplied via extra-option on the command line.

changing the entrie for D.ROOT-SERVERS.NET in db.root from 128.8.10.90 to

Bug#684726: ITP: check_v46 -- Icinga / Nagios plugin for dual stacked (IPv4 / IPv6) hosts

2012-08-29 Thread Jens Link
Bernd Zeimetz be...@bzed.de writes:

Do we actually need the plugin? Or well, need a package on its own if we
really need it? Implementing the functionality of this plugin is trivial
using check_multi and displaying the results properly is well supported
 in icinga at least.

I prefer check_v46 over check_multi for monitoring dual stacked
hosts. I think it's easier and faster to implement then check_multi (for
this use case).

If it is necessary/better/whatever, please put it into
nagios-plugins-contrib instead of creating a package with a single file.

I'm fine with that.

Bug#492754: Any news on 492754?

2010-04-20 Thread Jens Link
Hi,

I recently configured BIND on one of my servers and encountered the same
error as described in the bug report from 2008:

20-Apr-2010 20:09:19.383 general: error: setsockopt(523, IPV6_RECVPKTINFO)
failed: Protocol not available
20-Apr-2010 20:09:19.384 general: error: socket.c:2067: unexpected error:

Debian version is:

calo-ila:/home/jens# cat /etc/debian_version
5.0.4

BIND version (Debian package) is:

calo-ila:/home/jens# named -v
BIND 9.5.1-P3

On a 2nd server I don't see the message, although the configuration is
quite identical. Only difference is the Server with the problem runs IPv6
via a SiXXS Tunnel and the other has native IPv6.

I can access both DNS servers via IPv6.

Bug#509201: Debian Installer does not work with IPv6

2008-12-19 Thread Jens Link
Package: Debian Installer
Version: lenny / RC1

It's not possible to configure an IPv6 address using the Debian
installer. When trying to enter a IPv6 address i get the following
message:

,

| x.x.x.x ..

I used both normal and expert mode and did load the IPv6 extensions when
trying expert mode (wich didn't load the ipv6 Module btw.).
