Bug#956844: RM: stardict -- RoQA; Orphaned; Upstream Inactive; Affected by dependency removals

2020-04-15 Thread LI Daobing
文档可以不提供,这样 gnome-doc-utils 就可以不要了。
enchant 是做拼写检查的吧? 应该好替换,比如 aspell 什么的。
就是需要有人花时间去做补丁。

im-config package side.  (Since im-switch is not used for ibus now, I do
not know use of this as is but if we make changes as below, it is useful
 for wheezy.)

Ah; in Ubuntu, im-switch is used by default instead of im-config.  I don't
know why this is, I would have to dig into the package history to see.

If only one of ibus-gtk or ibus-gtk3 is installed, I don't know what the
desired behavior would be here, but I think we should fall back to xim in
  that case because it's safer.

 This is very deep question.

But practically thinking, control file needs update to fix this problem:

 Now we have:
 Depends: ${shlibs:Depends}, ${misc:Depends}, ${python:Depends},
  python-ibus (= ${source:Version}), python-xdg, librsvg2-common,
 python-notify, im-config
 Recommends: ibus-gtk | ibus-qt4 | ibus-clutter
 Conflicts: ibus-anthy ( 1.2),
  ibus-table ( 1.2),
  ibus-pinyin ( 1.2.99),
  ibus-m17n ( 1.2.99),
  ibus-hangul ( 1.2.99),
  ibus-chewing ( 1.2.99)

I think correct thing to do is:
 Depends: ${shlibs:Depends}, ${misc:Depends}, ${python:Depends},
  python-ibus (= ${source:Version}), python-xdg, librsvg2-common,
 python-notify
 Recommends: ibus-gtk3, ibus-gtk, ibus-qt4, ibus-clutter, im-config
 Conflicts: ibus-anthy ( 1.2),
  ibus-table ( 1.2),
  ibus-pinyin ( 1.2.99),
  ibus-m17n ( 1.2.99),
  ibus-hangul ( 1.2.99),
  ibus-chewing ( 1.2.99)

So they all get installed as defualt, if admin choses not to do so, he
 should deal with it.

 That makes sense to me.

same time, so they can avoid weird misbehavior of installing only one
  of the two.

Is having dependency loop OK for recommend?  I think this is bad idea.
See the circular dependency loop in recent policy:

Yes, circular recommends are allowed.  It's even allowed for p1 to depend on
 p2 while p2 recommends p1.

The restriction on circular dependencies is because the package manager
doesn't know which order to configure the packages.  But a Recommends does
 not affect package configuration.

Bug#589932: [Pkg-ime-devel] Bug#589932: ibus is not installed for all_ALL

2010-08-04 Thread LI Daobing
Hello,

you can use ibus with following method:

1. $ im-switch -s ibus
2. restart gdm/kdm.

does this works for you?

 The line

 ua_inst all_ALL ibus  0

is commented out for some reason.

This means that the method is very hard to set up for any locale not
 listed in the postinst script.

As the method allows writing Thai and some unspecified languages through
m17n limiting the locales to CJK is not desirable imho.

More importantly I want to write in different languages although my
locale is English so this is somewhat limiting.

Writing in Wine is impossible with ibus.

 To reproduce:

switch IM to scim, restart X session

 run 'wine notepad'

All input methods available in SCIM are available for writing in
 Notepad.

 switch IM to ibus

restart X session, run 'wine notepad'

ibus refuses to activate when wine is the active window.

Bug#591459: [Pkg-ime-devel] Bug#591459: ibus: breaks compose key

2010-08-03 Thread LI Daobing
Hello,

I still don't know how to reproduce this bug.

for example, can you tell me

what's your terminal?

what's your program?

which compose key does not work?

and can you check whether this is the same bug as
http://code.google.com/p/ibus/issues/detail?id=526

thanks.

 Coin,

I recently switched from scim to ibus, and it works well. I'm also using
im-config instead of im-switch. But i discovered the compose key does not
work anymore. In fact, after a few tries, i found it works perfectly in
several GNOME applications but not in urxvt/xterm/..., so it may be related
 to the XIM method.

Using xev, i got the following:

KeyPress event, serial 28, synthetic NO, window 0x241,
    root 0x10d, subw 0x0, time 4181041, (289,760), root:(290,780),

So, somehow the key sequence is properly detected and mapped to the right
 character, but lost.

Tell me what i can do to help debug this.

The compose key emulation, using Multi_key (see the previous log). I'm
 asigning it using keycode 166 = Multi_key in '~/.Xmodmap'.

and can you check whether this is the same bug as
 http://code.google.com/p/ibus/issues/detail?id=526

Yes, it's the same problem. I got dead keys problem too (like ^ or ).

Of course i forgot to say this happens when ibus input method is turned off
and it should act as pass-through.

I've got the following set in my environment with im-config (using the
 default auto-mode):
 declare -x GTK_IM_MODULE=ibus
 declare -x QT_IM_MODULE=ibus
 declare -x XMODIFIERS=@im=ibus

 My keyboard settings (in '/etc/default/keyboard'):
 XKBMODEL=pc105
 XKBLAYOUT=fr
 XKBVARIANT=oss
 XKBOPTIONS=lv3:ralt_switch

Tell me if you need more info.

Thanks for your clarify.

and since I don't use compose key (or dead key), so I has no idea on
how to fix this bug.

I'll mark this bug confirmed and forwarded to upstream, I'll also push
upstream to fix this bug.

you can add a star at

 Thanks for your care.

Btw, i tried ibus-table, as suggested in the upstream ticket, and i thought
it would emulate compose-key when disabled, but it is a distinct input
method, with really not practical key sequences ( gives « instead of
« because of the completion), so it cannot be a stopgap at all (and does
not solve the dead keys problem at all).

ibus-xkbc is not packaged in Debian. Not sure it is the right method to
solve this problem, but if someone decide to work on it, i'd be joyful to
help testing (and sponsoring if needed).

If you need to test versions from the upstream VCS, or patches, tell me.

we will package ibus-xkbc in this week.

SunPinyin is an Chinese input method engine based on SLM (Statistical

In addition to an IBus input module for Simplified Chinese, SunPinyin now

also provides a suite of utilities to train the SLM using raw corpus.

  Thanks!

 Wen,
now that you've adopted pytables (without even daring to reply to the
above email), can you fix #547875 ? It's important to have this fixed
to let Python 2.6 be uploaded in Debian. It's a very easy bug and I
would have expected to see fixed in the adoption upload.

I will try to fix it.

Li, since you sponsored the upload, please check the package bugs
(along with every other pkg info) to see if some easy important bugs

Li had done these but I am new to debian package so I told him
I shall fix the bug when I am familiar with Debian package system.

I don't care: you must be able to maintain a package, and if you're
not, then you shouldn't ask to sponsor that package. Li, *do not*
sponsor people not able to actually maintain a packge: it's not
helpful, and coming from the same part of the world should not be an
excuse to reduce the quality of Debian.

after the adoption, things become better, not worse, so take it easy.

I have checked the package prepared by wenheping, it fulfill my rules:

1. has a watch file
2. lintian clean
3. good document in debian/changelog
4. correct debian/copyright.

so I upload it.

And I don't think wenheping is not a qualified debian package maintainer.

and last question, why wenheping ask me sponsor this package?
just because we live in the same timezone, so we have much more
common time on the IRC. Don't think too much on this, :)

We powered Debian, We are improving the quality of Debian, not reducing.

Wen, fix that bug or I'll upload the package as a QA upload, removing
you from the maintainer field, since you have admitted you can't
 maintain it as it should.

as in the NMU rule, give the maintainer one or two week will be
better, and it's not a critical bug, so take it easy (again).

Bug#550059: jinja2: circular build depends between jinja2 and sphinx

2009-10-07 Thread LI Daobing
Package: src:jinja2
Severity: important

Hello,

jinja2 build depends on python-sphinx, and shpinx build depends on
python-jinja2, this circular dependency make some build daemon confused
(such as ppa on launchpad) and failed to build.

for example, if you want backport newest jinja2 and sphinx to hardy, and
ppa will build failed on these two packages.

suggestion:

fork jinja2 to two source packages, one is jinja2, another is
jinja2-doc, jinja2 does not build the doc package, so no longer build
depends on python-sphinx. and jinja2-doc only build the doc package. so
circular build dpeneds is broken.

 Hi,

Maybe you should split glusterfs-server in glusterfs-server and

 and not glusterfs-server.

This would also resolv circular dependancy bug (#537787).

sounds glusterfs-server no longer need glusterfs-client. I will remove

 Hi Daobing,

Although ibus-pinyin can support GBK, it is not enabled at default.  As
a result, it may be somewhat confusing for novice users that ibus-pinyin
can only input the characters in GB2312.  I wonder if you can set the
option enabled as default when packaging ibus-pinyin, or mention the
existence of the option in its document, e.g. README.Debian.

does not enable GBK by default is decided by upstream. I think we
should respect the decision of upstream.

if you should think enable this is a better idea, please consider file
a bug report at [1]

[1] http://code.google.com/p/ibus/issues/list

and I think user can find the option, which is the first one in the

Bug#498260: Can scim-python-pinyin follow the packaging approach of ibus-pinyin

2009-05-31 Thread LI Daobing
On Sun, May 31, 2009 at 21:05, Hongzheng Wang wan...@gmail.com wrote:
 Dear Daobing,

I'm sorry for disturbing you by raising the old bug report again.

First of all, I would like to thank you for the contribution in
packaging both scim-python and ibus (and of course other packages).  I
like ibus so much and hope this new input method framework can
successfully replace scim eventually given that the development of
scim in upstream has been stopped in fact.

When I look at the solution provided by you in packaging ibus-pinyin,
I believe it is a really smart one to solve the ``having to download
database during building'' problem.  Furthermore, I wonder if
scim-python-pinyin can be created following the same approach.  After
all, ibus-pinyin and scim-python-pinyin use the same database in fact
(please correct me if I'm wrong).  Well, I admit that scim-python has
been stopped in upstream.  I think it might be better to have a more
complete ``workable'' scim-python because scim-python still exists in
 Debian.

tegaki is in the debian ftp new, which is a handwriting input method
and depends on scim-python. (which can make scim-python useful).

I don't want to package scim-python-pinyin, which is deprecated by upstream.

 Hi Daobing,

First of all, congratulations for being an official DD now.

I don't know if I am the first person using your Debian ibus module,
but let me be the first one to do bug report -- I can't use the ibus
 wubi input module:

 - I install ibus-table-wubi the same way as installing ibus-pinyin
 - ibus-pinyin works fine
 - I can't switch input methods with Alt+Shift_L
 - If I re-order my input methods and put wubi first, then
Control+space can't even pop up the ibus bar
 - re-order and put pinyin first will get me the ibus bar pop up
  again with Control+space.
 - Switch input methods with ibus bar's menu won't work either.

This is how I installed the whole ibus related packages:

  % aptitude install ibus
The following NEW packages will be installed:
    ibus im-switch{a} libibus0{a} python-ibus{a}
0 packages upgraded, 4 newly installed, 0 to remove
Need to get 555kB of archives. After unpacking 4297kB will be used.

  % aptitude install ibus-pinyin ibus-table-wubi
The following NEW packages will be installed:
    ibus-pinyin ibus-table{a} ibus-table-wubi
0 packages upgraded, 3 newly installed, 0 to remove
Need to get 38.3MB of archives. After unpacking 110MB will be used.

Might it be that some dependent files are missing?

I can't reproduce this bug, so I need more information on this issue,
please follow following step to help sharp this bug:

1. quit ibus from the tray icon
2. open a console, run ibus-daemon
3. open another console, run gedit
4. right click on the gedit window, change input method to IBus
5. try to trigger this bug in the gedit window.
6. check any useful information outputted in the console opened in
step2, paste your information here

thanks.

Bug#522157: RFS: lesstif2 (updated package)

2009-05-05 Thread LI Daobing
On Sun, May 3, 2009 at 18:33, Paul Gevers p...@climbing.nl wrote:
This is a big package with a high popcon count, do you have the time
for such a large task? On your own? Is there any upstream activity?

I have the intention to try. And of course all help is appreciated, but
I would say that any improvement over inactivity is good. I really think
this cleaning up could solve a lot of bugs and annoyance to users. And,
no, there is hardly upstream activity. The last couple of years only
 some rare patches got applied.

The PTS claims 85 lintian errors and warnings, so that is a
considerable advance. The spelling error appears trivial and the
autotools ones are new, there was an announcement about those on
debian-devel regarding problems with new architectures (and, for that
matter cross-building) when these files are so out of date. autoreconf
will sort those out - you could try it in debian/rules but be aware
that updating such an old package could cause new bugs so it might be
best to do the entire refresh thing upstream.

Those aren't particularly suitable library names, so you may want to
use a lintian override for now and use a more sensible name in a future
upstream release - again, a large step for a package of this size.

Except for an override for the package-name-doesnt-match-sonames (with
reference to the above statement) the package is now appears completely
 lintian clean:
 (pbuild17332) etna lesstif2-0.95.0 # lintian --allow-root -I -E
 --pedantic ../*.changes
 N: 1 tag overridden (1 warning)
 (pbuild17332) etna lesstif2-0.95.0 # lintian --allow-root -I -E
 --pedantic ../*.deb
 N: 1 tag overridden (1 warning)

 Michael Biebl wrote:
A less invasive approach is, to build-depend on autotools-dev and copy
config.(guess, sub) from there. If you backup the exisisting files, you
can easily copy them back on clean to return to a pristine state.

I fixed the outdated-autotools-helper-file by using the approach
proposed by Mickael. (No need to back them up, just removing them on clean).

There needs to be a quick, easy way of testing the package - is there a
script or internal program that can be run or a simple way of writing a
test program? What needs to be done to run stuff in the test/
directory? It doesn't use 'make check' (which appears to do nothing
 in particular).

Running the tests in the package can be done by running using
--enable-build-tests on configure time. Then in the test/Xm or
test/Xm-2.1 dir running the testall command. Apparently, a lot of these
test have failed for a long time (nobody cared?). To compare, I did the
tests (except for printing, where I needed a patch to build anyway) for
 a build of lesstif2-0.95-2.1 lesstif2-0.95-2.1ubuntu1 and
 lesstif2-0.95-2.3. The results:
 2.1: 350 failed out of 609
2.1ubuntu1: 350 failed out of 609 (although two test results swapped
 with 2.1)
 2.3 351 failed out of 609

I will look into this further, but still, this upload would fix a lot of
 standing bugs.

A new version is available on mentors:
 - URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/l/lesstif2
 - Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable
 main contrib non-free
 - dget
 http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/l/lesstif2/lesstif2_0.95.0-2.3.dsc

I hope somebody is able to give me more feedback (or ultimately upload
 the package).

uploaded.

mark this bug as wontfix, summary of reason

1. build pinyin module need download a file, and the downloaded file
has no clear license.
2. we already have a pinyin input method in scim-pinyin
3. scim-python is still useful even without the pinyin module, such as

Bug#525136: [python-support] generate an uninstallable package

2009-04-22 Thread LI Daobing
Package: python-support
Version: 1.0.2
Severity: serious

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Hello,

I found this bug when I build tegaki.

how to reproduce:
1. checkout zinnia and build it (this is an arch-any python package)

$ git clone git://git.debian.org/collab-maint/zinnia.git
$ cd zinnia
$ debuild
$ sudo debi

2. checkout tegaki and build it (this is an arch-all python package)
$ git clone git://git.debian.org/collab-maint/tegaki.git
$ cd tegaki
$ debuild
$ sudo debi
(Reading database ... 206334 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace python-tegaki 0.1-1 (using python-tegaki_0.1-1_all.deb)
...
Unpacking replacement python-tegaki ...
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of python-tegaki:
 python-tegaki depends on python2.6-zinnia; however:
  Package python2.6-zinnia is not installed.
dpkg: error processing python-tegaki (--install):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
 python-tegaki
debi: debpkg -i failed

++---

the arch-any package python-zinnia only provide python2.4-zinnia and
python2.5-zinnia, but the arch-all package python-tegaki depends on python2.6-
zinnia, so python-tegaki is not installable.

please fix this

thanks.

Bug#525136: [python-support] generate an uninstallable package

2009-04-22 Thread LI Daobing

2009/4/22 Josselin Mouette j...@debian.org:

Le mercredi 22 avril 2009 à 20:14 +0800, LI Daobing a écrit :

the arch-any package python-zinnia only provide python2.4-zinnia and
python2.5-zinnia, but the arch-all package python-tegaki depends on python2.6-
zinnia, so python-tegaki is not installable.

There’s no easy way around this. It is not possible to know, while
building python-tegaki, that python-zinnia is only available for 2.4 and
2.5. The built python-tegaki package actually works with 2.6, so it adds
2.6 to the list of supported versions – but to work with 2.6, it needs
to depend on python2.6-zinnia.

However, I think that you are abusing Provides: to come to this result.
If no package depends on a specific pythonX.Y-tegaki, you should not add
the “Provides: ${python:Provides}” field, and therefore you should not
use Python-Depends either. The same goes for python-zinnia, for which
the Provides is likely unnecessary.

got it, thanks.

you can close this bug.

Bug#424841: layouts added(scim-tables-additional)

2009-04-04 Thread LI Daobing
Hello,

sorry for the too late reply, but later is better than never, right?

the original bug report is:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=424841

I want to push your 8 files to upstream, but because it is over 10
lines, so we must make clear the copyright and license information of
your patch.

can you give me the copyright and license information of these files?

(as a suggestion,) because the scim-table is licensed under GPL, so
the GPL license will be a good candidate for your files.

Thanks.

 There are two problems:
 - a license problem indeed: under which license py.db is distributed?
Nothing tells in the tarball, so we can't know.
 - py.db can not be considered as the form that permits easy
modifications, so it must be rebuilt during the Debian
package compilation.  There actually _is_ a script for that:
  python/engine/PinYin/PYCreatePinYinDB.py.  Problem is: the phrase
files are missing, and I can't find them in the svn either.  These
files may pose license issues, which would actually be transmitted by
the very fact of downloading py.db...

So as of the current state of the upstream tarball, enabling the Pinyin
module is not an option if we want to distribute scim-python in main.
Else it has to go to non-free.

I guess next step would be to contact upstream to know what the state of
 these phrase files is.

but it's better to have a switch to disable building this wordlist
instead of creating an eunuch ;)

I'm not sure to understand what you mean.  If you want, you can build
the package yourself after having dropped the --disable-pinyin option
 from debian/rules.  But that'll build a non-dfsg free package.

If that is the case, I guess scim-python is candidate for orphan or

Are tegaki upstream aware of the fact that scim-python has a dead
upstream?  They are better informed so they might decide to migrate to
ibus instead of depending on an obsoleted component.

I don't think scim-python is dead, it's just been orphaned.

 Dear maintainer,

I've prepared an NMU for lunar-applet (versioned as 2.0-1.1) and uploaded it
to unstable, since it is blocking the evolution-data-server transition.

I want to explain why I left this bug alone.

I know how to patch soon after this bug is reported, but I found that
the generated package is not usable, so I am contacting with the
upstream author about this issue.

now the usability is a new bug, I will report this bug after the
confirmation in this evening.

Thanks.
