Bug#992869: rsyslog: imuxsock rate limiting is broken and does not work in default installation
Package: rsyslog Version: 8.2102.0-2 Severity: important Tags: patch upstream X-Debbugs-Cc: petr.gajdu...@egston.com Dear Maintainer, By default, imuxscock should rate limit messages with severity 1 and lower. Related default options are useSpecialParser="true" and ratelimit.severity="1". However, messages are not rate limited due to a bug in code: When `useSpecialParser` is set to "true" (the default setting) all messages are erroneously treated as having severity 0 and therefore are not subjected to the rate limiting which by default does not affect messages with severity 0. Debian 11 and unstable is also affected. Rate limiting works after changing imuxsock options to ratelimit.severity="0" or useSpecialParser="false". e.g. module(load="imuxsock" SysSock.RateLimit.Severity="0") I have already filled an issue upstream [1] and a pull request [2]. Source: gdm3 Severity: wishlist Tags: upstream Dear Maintainer, gdm3 starts X server with hard-coded option -verbose 3. This cannot be overridden in a sensible way. Currently this is a blocking issue preventing me from using GDM in projects where I need to monitor xserver logs and to monitor the attached display at the same time via xrandr as calling xrandr results in unnecessary information being logged when xserver verbosity is greater than 0. Bug#739859: ulatencyd: Ulatencyd don't do anithing
Ne 2. březen 2014, 16:13:22 CET Corcodel Marian a...@marian1000.go.ro napsal(a): This bug is because linux-kernel not have full support for cgroup. On linux debian package missing support also for CONFIG_CFS_BANDWIDTH, CONFIG_RT_GROUP_SCHED please send this bug on linux maintainers. Hi Marian, ulatencyd rules do not limit CPU bandwidth, unless you modified them. So CONFIG_CFS_BANDWIDTH disabled in kernel has no effect. CONFIG_RT_GROUP_SCHED disabled does not harm too, because ulatency do not limit RT processes, it just moves them to separate cgroup. And IMHO the VLC should not be running real-time. It is easy to update rules to limit run time of process under RT scheduler or their CPU bandwidth under CFS scheduler if you recompile the kernel; but I am not sure this is what you want... Because I don't understand why you tag VLC with user.poison flag. This flag is designated for processes that are causing memory pressure. What do you want to achieve? VLC is media player and therefore shouldn't you want it to run smoothly? Similar you have amarok labelled with user.idle, why? What problem are you trying to resolve? Next you seem to be running systemd. I cannot see any cgroups in the tree you pasted here. Either you have snipped the `ulatency tree` output really unfortunately or your processes are not in those cgroups, ulatencyd has put them. See https://github.com/poelzi/ulatencyd/wiki/Faq#wiki-14does-it-work-with-systemd 1) Make sure you have cgroups controllers disabled in systemd so it does not move processes from ulatencyd cgroups. 2) Copy ulatency python script (should be in /bin or /usr/bin, not sure where) somewhere into under your home directory and apply attached patch. 3) Run $ echo cpu memory blkio cpuset | xargs -n1 ./ulatency --flags tree tree.log and attach the tree.log 4) Please, describe exactly what do you want to achieve and why. Bug#691297: affects mostly Wheezy
Control: tags -1 + wheezy wontfix Control: severity -1 normal Control: fixed -1 1.2.0-1 Hello, As these netload plugin bugs affect mostly wheezy and the bug report was intended to get patches into wheezy, I am tagging the bug accordingly. Remaining issues in unstable version are - entries (text input boxes) in preferences require pressing the ENTER or closing the dialog to be applied - without any feedback user is required to do that, This breaks Panel HIG [2], is inconsistent with other control widgets (check boxes, spinners, color choosers) that are applied instantly and with other plugins. - default text of the label is Net while other plugins use lowercase I am not sure how handle this in BTS, I should probably fill separate bug reports, but these are really minor issues that do not actually bother me. Bug#664247: [Pkg-xfce-devel] Bug#664247: xfce4-notifyd: notifications never die
So 17. březen 2012, 15:40:20 CET Juha Jäykkä ju...@iki.fi napsal: If I try to send a notification to xfce4-notifyd, the notification stays on the screen until xfce4-notifyd is killed. This happens regardless of the default timeout set with xfce4-notifyd-config. [snip] Hello, I am curious if you can reproduce this issue with xfce4-notifyd from unstable (0.2.4-2). There was bug that caused notification timeout not working if the timeout was shorter than the fade time - 800ms. E.g. `notify-send -t 5 test`. Enabled compositing was required to trigger the issue and it is fixed since 0.2.3. https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8580 Another issue is xfce4-notifyd-config shows 1s default timeout even if the real default is set to 0 (never) or negative number (should default to 10s though). So if you run xfce4-notifyd-config and there is 1s and you close it without changing, the timeout may be actually disabled (0). If I remember correctly I experienced even more serious malformat of xfconf expire-timeout value - probably floating point number. But I cannot reproduce it now or track the fixing commit git, so maybe I am dreaming, it was log time ago, if even. Anyway, I recommend to check what `xfconf-query -c xfce4-notifyd -p /expire-timeout` really says. Bug#633771: [Pkg-xfce-devel] Bug#633771: thunar: useless error when ejecting removable media
Hi everybody, some ideas... The mounting sequence on Wheezy is something like: thunar-volman (or thunar if auto-mounting is disabled) GIO - GVFS - gdu monitor (from gvfs) using libgdu0 from gnome-disk-utility - udisks udisks is essential here, otherwise you will not be able to umount via udisks later. The unmounting sequence is similar but thunar-volman is never engaged, rather thunar itself. There is policykit involved too. I have never managed to reproduce this on my system and I doubt these all issues are triggered by same bug, but anyway, if you are running Wheezy and the medium is successfully unmounted but still 'not authorized' error pops out, it may be cause by failing DriveEject method on udisks. If it is the case, the partition will not be in `mount` output, but the medium will still not be ejected - there will be still /dev/sdc* files and the device will be in `udisks --enumerate` output. If so, will `udisks --eject /dev/sdc` work now? Replace /dev/sdc with your device file. Other ideas: What is the output of `mount` while the disc is mounted. Is there `uhelper=udisks`? Bug#714075: [devede] incorrect result size with avconv encoder
Package: devede Version: 3.23.0~ds1-2 Severity: important Tags: patch Dear maintainer, Devede passes -b:v bitrate to avconv, but this does not override default video bitrate comming from -target option. This easily results in output that does not fit selected media capacity, Adjust disc usage having no effect. Devede should pass -b bitrate to avconv. Maybe this is bug in avconv, not respecting -b:v when -target given, but if I remember devede passes -b bitrate to ffmpeg if used, so this is at least inconsistency. Bug#695367: [Build-common-hackers] Bug#695367: Bug#695367: [cdbs] Please, backport the fix to wheezy.
Po 17. červen 2013, 11:20:13 CEST Jonas Smedegaard d...@jones.dk napsal: There are the general concept of backporting, and there is the specific project http://backports.debian.org/ . In my previous response I was talking about backporting in general. I am not sure which you are talking about - seems it is a mix (because backports.d.o only allows contributions from Debian members). Hi, actually, I have talked about backports.d.o. I think, according to documentation on http://backports.debian.org/Contribute/, non DDs may prepare backports too. My concerns are: 0) I still think the fix should go to proposed-updates, rather than backporting whole stuff, at least for support from security team and then packages on wheezy built without relro seem weird to me, even only locally built ones, as it is (was) release goal for wheezy. Ad backports.d.o: 1) You are the maintainer and maybe you want make the backport yourself? 2) I am not regular CDBS user and I do not know nothing about its internals. Though the backporting is really straightforward. 3) I see my life as rather unstable and not sure if I will be able to backport new versions with important (e.g. security) fixes for the whole life of wheezy (as stable and oldstable). Therefore I think the unintrusive fix would be better in p-u to avoid the burden of a backport. Regardless, I have uploaded a backport to https://mentors.debian.net/package/cdbs, if you still think the backport would be better then p-u and don't have objections, I can post it to debian-backpo...@lists.debian.org. Út 25. červen 2013, 16:54:21 CEST Jonas Smedegaard d...@jones.dk napsal(a): Changes to compiler flags is something that may cause surprises. That's the reason each and every package need to deal with that, instead of enforcing flags centrally. I therefore find it a too risky change for a stable update I got your point. It also clarifies my statement that the fix is unintrusive not being true and that it shouldn't go to p-u. I doubt it should go even to backports.d.o, because if I understand b.d.o., it is designed to contain backported packages that should continuously track newer versions in testing. I am not interested in having newest cdbs (or most of other software). I will ask on the backports list if somebody needs it, and if so, I will backport it and try to track testing, that I think is required by b.d.o. Otherwise I will keep it private and change the version to be lesser than the eventual next updates/proposed-updates upload so I won't miss fixes. Lintian will inform me if I accidentally loose the backported version anyway. Please consider the bug as resolved from my side, maybe it should stay open to track wheezy and be tagged wontfix? So relax that rule and backport CDBS - should be seemlessly backportable even to oldstable. Hi Jonas, thanks for quick reply. Bug#706500: Add consolekit dependency or (additionally) use logind
Hi, If I remember correctly, the version in Debian does not use much of consolekit. The ulatencyd core just exports some session information to LUA rules /e.g. ulatency.get_uid_stats()/, but supplied scheduler mappings do not use it and the information is per UID not per session, so it's a bit useless. Though I don't know if missing consolekit is gracefully handled. Next version will be session based and the scheduler mapping will group processes primary by sessions, not UIDs as it is now. The xwatch module that watches for X server activities will probably depend on session agent too, so the consolekit / logind will be required. There is already general interface to session modules implemented in my fork and the consolekit module. Logind module should be trivial to implement as well. The session agent is auto detected. I will try finish this and release next week and prepare new package. Unfortunately I don't know If I will be available after the next Saturday and generally my future is uncertain. I'd prefer not to expose more symbols that we are then going to remove reasonably soon, but if you need them in the interim then I can arrange something. Please note they will definitely be going, but we can certainly work together to make sure your program uses the new API. - Craig Hello Craig, I'm looking forward to the new API! Is there already any discussion/code? Until it happens, it depends on how big is the issue with ulatencyd embedding own libproc copy. If you decide to export those symbols, I could prepare patches fixing #682712 instantly. On the other side, ulatencyd upstream must use embedded copy of libprocps until the planned new API - or current API with enough exported symbols - will be widely available As I am thinking of this, I incline to embed verbatim copy of current libproc, write minimal header file to be used by ulatencyd code to ensure minimum symbols will be used and make configurable the use of external libprocps (patched to export enough symbols). - Petr -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#682712: ulatencyd: please use system copy of libprocps
Hello, First off all, I beg your pardon for my pure English. IMO the only big problem is that libprocps does not export enough symbols. Currently it doesn't export even the essential freeproc() [1]. I filled a bug report against libprocps0-dev [2]. And ss soon as those symbols begins to be exported, the ulatencyd will be easily patchable. I created a branch on github, that uses such external libproc. It consists of rather trivial code removal and of the cmake system update. Though, it probably depends on changes I have committed before, these come to my mind: - let readproc/readtask allocate proc_t storage instead of reusing single buffer (i.e. call them with NULL). This is maybe not necessary but it allows ulatencyd to more abstract from libproc internals. - reimplement and improve u_proc.cgroups_* handling in ulatencyd core, this is IMHO needed for #629380 [3] fix anyhow. I have also temporary disable the groups property of u_proc instances exported tu lua (not used anywhere). The branch is https://github.com/gajdusek/ulatencyd/commits/libprocps-ng with currently one commit: Remove embedded libproc and coreutils, use system libprocps (issue #37) https://github.com/gajdusek/ulatencyd/commit/b30c5ef10c63b978e16a2f8addd5ed4a02761944 It seems to work fine. I haven't tried to backport it to the Poelzi's master yet. I have fixed some bugs since that, including a try of fixing #629380 [3] and the patches would overlap. Moreover the patches would divert from upstream rather much. Any ideas? Bug#677150: [ulatencyd] poisonous and idle priority processes have no penalization on disk usage
Package: ulatencyd Version: 0.5.0-5 Severity: normal --- Please enter the report below this line. --- Dear maintainer, Default desktop scheduler sets blkio.weight = 1 for cgroups where it moves idle priority processes (those tagged as daemon.idle/user.idle in ulatencyd rules) and poisonous processes. This fails because allowed range for blkio.weight values is 10-1000 (on kernel 3.2.0). The range seems to be changing between kernel versions, used to be 100-1000 in past. Bug#655394: Still broken
Hello, IMO, looking for gnome-session running is not sufficient. It works only for /usr/share/xsessions/gnome{,-fallback}.desktop sessions. It does not work for any sessions not directly invoking the gnome-session binary: 1) Default session (/usr/share/gdm/BuiltInSessions/default.desktop) - if xsession configuration is not customized - calls /usr/bin/x-session-manager (managed by alternatives, defaults to /usr/bin/gnome-session). This is the default session for new accounts until user selects something else in the GDM greeter. 2) Users may call gnome-settings-daemon directly (or by customizing xsession or startx config files, etc.). This is useful for simple window managers. Is there some obstacle why not look for gnome-settings-daemon rather then gnome-session? Bug#639328: [gtk-vector-screenshot] pdfscreenshot_event_filter() may cause BadWindow X-Protocol errors.
Package: gtk-vector-screenshot Version: 0.3-1 Severity: important Tags: patch Everytime I open UI (glade) file in anjuta and start dragging a signal from any widget properties panel to the source code, in order to create signal handler, anjuta crashes with BadWindow X-Protocol error. Bug#628457: [libgtk-3-0] Infinite-loop in GTK_FILE_CHOOSER_ACTION_CREATE_FOLDER
Package: libgtk-3-0, libgtk2.0-0 Version: libgtk-3-0/3.0.8-1 Version: libgtk2.0-0/2.24.4-3 Tags: patch Hi, There is bug in file chooser if called in create folder mode. Bug#627965: [gnome-keyring] There's no way to use gnome-shell while the keyboard is grabbed by the dialog waiting for password.
Hi, Let's look at gnome-keyring-prompt related issues: 1) It offers possibility to copy a secret (i.e SSH, PGP passwords) into the login keyring (that I like to be unlocked while I am logged in), but there is no possibility to copy that secret to another keyring. And this cannot be accomplished either in seahorse - DD and copy/paste do not work and there's no way to create it manually. So I have 3 possibilities: a) leave my secrets unprotected all the time I am logged in b) do not unlock login keyring by default, but then I am forced to manually unlock the ring even for not-so-secret passwords and, moreover, there is missing forget instantly option in gk-prompt. c) leave SSH and PGP passwords outside the login keyring, but then I must remember them - or store them in another secrets keeping application, but keyboard grabbing prevents accessing it. 2) If keyboard is grabbed with no possibility to release it, how I am suppose to generate or to enter just generated password? How copy the password from an e-mail, IM message, text file etc.? Gk-prompt may also be displayed at the end of a long chain of preceding actions/events. Being forced to repeat all steps/or take additional actions because I forget to copy the password into the clipboard, or didn't know I will need it, is rather painful. So you need a secrets keeping application to keep secrets for a secrets keeping application? Hmm, gnome-keyring or precisely suboptimal/obsoleted ways other applications are using it, in combination with the only and too primitive user interface - seahorse and limiting gk-prompts was never general purpose secrets keeping facility fulfilling my needs. IMHO it is intended to be one, but seemingly it will not be the case for foreseeable future. I blame most applications are storing/retrieving secrets in a way only they understand - storing secrets as a generic secret type with application-specific properties, using only login (or even 'default') or some hard-wired keyring and not bothering to search other keyrings. Seahorse has still VERY limited scope of usage and except SSH and PGP keys that are pretty useful already, there is only one more secret type user can create/edit - generic secrets reduced to description (limited to 32 chars) with associated password pairs. I know this is limitation in seahorse, not in gnome-keyring, but this does not change anything. For these and many more reasons seahorse cannot still replace GUI of other secrets keeping applications. Not mentioning gnome-centric attitude and the absence of any command line interface or dbus support (not sure if it is not ready - I cannot find any API though) to be able to use it with scripts/applications not using libgnome-keyring. Way to go. How can I move my entire secrets collection consisting of hundreds accounts of many types including real-life secrets, organized in tree-like structure, with descriptions and additional information to gnome-keyring and be able to effective use them even in applications or scripts that do not use gnome-keyring library, and manage them via GUI interface? I would like to use gnome-keyring for all my secrets but it is too far from being sufficient. -- Regards, Petr Gajdůšek -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#627965: [gnome-keyring] There's no way to use gnome-shell while the keyboard is grabbed by the dialog waiting for password.
Package: gnome-keyring Version: 3.0.2-1 Severity: normal Hello, if I remember correctly, keyboard may be ungrabbed by minimizing/maximizing the ask dialog or by unmapping it by switching to another virtual desktop via pager. Bug#625955: (no subject)
Hi, regarding my previous comment, I didn't realize gnome-desktop-environment (1:2.30+9) does no longer depend on seahorse-plugins. So despite the fact that seahorse-plugins 2.x is not installable with gnome-keyring 3.x, this is surely not grave severity bug. Just seahorse-plugins 3.x is not yet ready. This bug should be merely WISH and be tagged upstream. There is IMHO no related bug in Debian since #624470 has been closed as I don't see any other revers dependencies on seahorse-plugins stronger than suggests. Maybe Please, package unfinished seahorse-plugins 3.0 from GIT wish, would be the best. If I am correct, please lower severity, add upstream tag and maybe retitle. -- Regards, Petr Gajdůšek -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#625955: Still happens with 2.30.1-3+b1
Hi, gnome-keyring 3.x breaks seahorse-plugins 3.0 because gnome-keyring has now own gpg-agent implementation (gpg component of gnome-keyring-daemon). From seahorse-plugins it was removed in February. Sadly 3.0 has not been yet released and 2.30.1-3+b1 breaks with gnome-keyring 3.0 because of gpg-agent duplicity. If you urgently need seahorse-plugins you can build it from upstream GIT and version the package something like 3.0.0~git4c3e-1~local1 so the gnome-keyring dependency will be satisfied. But be warned if you are using gedit plugin: you will not be able to build the plugin against gedit-3.x as that plugin is not yet updated to libpeas. Other plugins seem to work right. If you do not need seahorse-plugins, you can mark all gnome-desktop-environment dependencies (except seahorse-plugins) as manually installed and temporary remove the gnome-desktop-environment meta package or, maybe better, rebuild gnome-desktop-environment with weaker dependency on seahorse-plugins. Otherwise you will probably need to wait for seahorse-plugins 3.0 release. -- Regards, Petr Gajdůšek -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#620673: [compiz] Windows do not receive GDK_WINDOW_STATE_WITHDRAWN signal if they disappear due switching to other workspace
Package: compiz Version: 0.8.4-4 Severity: normal --- Please enter the report below this line. --- Hello, I have usability issues with seahorse password prompt (seahorse-agent from seahorse-plugins package) but it seems to be compiz issue. Seahorse-agent window is _NET_WM_STATE_ABOVE and grabs keyboard. It has handler for window-state-event signal - it ungrabs keyboard if state is GDK_WINDOW_STATE_WITHDRAWN, but this will not happen if I switch to another workspace. I found out that GDK_WINDOW_STATE_WITHDRAWN should be set (and the signal emitted) if the window is not shown [0]. This is obviously not true for compiz. Metacity does not have this problem. So if I switch to other workspace, seahorse-agent has still grabbed keyboard, despite it is no more visible. Bug#620094: [guymager] Default /etc/guymager/guymager.cfg should use full path for calling external utilities
Dne 30.3.2011 10:38, Michael Prokop napsal(a): * Petr Gajdůšek [Wed Mar 30, 2011 at 01:50:45AM +0200]: Default /etc/guymager/guymager.cfg should use full path for calling external utilities like /sbin/hdparm or /usr/sbin/smartctl. After all, guymager can be run as a non-root user. Ah, you mean because [/usr]/sbin might not be in $PATH of non-root user? regards, -mika- Yes. But now I realize that smartctl and hdparm seems useless for non-root user in my system. Even if the user is in the disk group and has full access to the device file in /dev. Bug#620091: [guymager] Insufficient dependencies
Dne 30.3.2011 10:45, Michael Prokop napsal(a): * Petr Gajdůšek [Wed Mar 30, 2011 at 01:25:55AM +0200]: guymager cannot be started without hal or libparted0-dev installed. See /var/log/guimager.log attached. There might be another bug, because I have libparted0debian1 installed, but guymager seems to need libparted.so that is provided only by libparted0-dev. Are you using the default /etc/guymager/guymager.cfg? Yes Does it work for you if you're using: DeviceScanMethod = libparted My guymager does not understand this: Invalid keyword DeviceScanMethod and drop a present ScanUsingDbusHal? If I set ScanUsingDbusHal = 0, it crashes the same way but it tries to use libparted as first and than DBus/HAL as second. Both methods fail again (but in reverse order). Please see the log I attached to my first post. IMHO it is all about the fact that guymager is unable to use DBus/HAL (because hal is not installed): * HAL not registered * DBus/HAL not accessible, asking user if he wants to switch to libparted... then falls back to libparted but cannot use it either: * User switches to libparted * Thread Scan started * libparted.so cannot be found (libparted.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory). * Error 10009006: ERROR_THREADSCAN_LIBPARTED_NOTWORKING * Error - Exiting GUYMAGER with code 1 The HAL scan backend works if I install the hal package. The libparted scan backend works only if I instal the libparted0-dev, which is strange because I have already libparted0debian1 installed. Guymager seems to need exactly libparted.so which is only in libparted0-dev: $ dpkg -S libparted.so libparted0debian1: /lib/libparted.so.0.0.1 libparted0debian1: /lib/libparted.so.0 $ apt-file search libparted.so libparted0-dev: /usr/lib/libparted.so libparted0debian1: /lib/libparted.so.0 libparted0debian1: /lib/libparted.so.0.0.1 Maybe here is the problem: ~/guymager-0.4.2$ grep -rnw LIBPARTED . ./threadscan.cpp:32:#define LIBPARTED libparted.so ./threadscan.cpp:107: pOwn-pLibPartedHandle = dlopen (LIBPARTED, RTLD_NOW); ./threadscan.cpp:110: LOG_INFO (%s cannot be found (%s)., LIBPARTED, dlerror()); IMHO, guymager should depend on hal or libparted0-dev (but preferably on libparted virtual package that is provided by libparted0debian1 - but than threadscan.cpp must be fixed too). Cheers, Petr PS: Probably there will be problem with hal depedency in the future as it is deprecated now. Are you running it as root or as non-root user? The same crash in both cases. In this case fsck canceling will be more correct - same behavior when fsck is called without tty as stdin. Correct recognition of escape sequences will be better, but is this possible w/o ncurses/slang use? Reading many characters from stdin and throwing them away if more than 1 was read is IMHO safe (from my limited knowledge point of view) as long as the stdin is forced to be tty. I didn't found any fsck switch allowing other use. Also this will not fix this issue when getch() (i.e. conio.h is present) is used, if it has this issue at all. I don't know if this is issue for any architecture supported by Debian. I am not a C programmer, just sending patch suggestion (may be buggy) because I want to see fixed this. I do not agree with normal severity of this bug as this could easily cause severe data damage if user is not aware about this behavior. I suggest at least serious severity, to be caught by apt-listbugs in default configuration. Bug#619859: [e2fsprogs] When using cs_CZ locale, It is possible to execute fsck.ext4 on live fs without answering displayed confirmation dialog.
Package: e2fsprogs Version: 1.41.12-2 Severity: critical --- Please enter the report below this line. --- Hello, I wanted very quickly to know number of used/free inodes in my root ext4 fs and tried sudo fsck /dev/sda1, where /dev/sda1 was mounted root fs. I saw a big fat warning about severe filesystem damage if I will continue and so I opened fsck man page in other terminal and found desired -nf options. I switched back and press the up arrow key to make command corrections. Bug#619859: patch
Hello, As e2fsck/util.c logic infinitely reads single bytes from stdin and ignores anything until a byte with y/n meaning occurs, many other escape sequences will trigger this bug. Here are few examples of affected locales and keys in some terminals (but there are more for sure): Key presses interpreted as Yes if French locale (fr.po) (y is localized as o) is used: xterm terminfo: F1, F2, F3, F4 urxvt: CTRL-LEFT arrow cs.po (y is localized as a): linux: F1, UP arrow xterm: UP arrow -- untested: -- vi.po (y is localized as c): linux: F3, LEFT arrow xterm: LEFT arrow tr.po (y is localized as e): linux: F5 Here is simple patch that reads more bytes at once (I set this to 100 but have no clue), so it will discard escape sequences of = 100 bytes length. Although if you press 100 times some key generating escape sequence, this read_a_char() function will break and it will be treated as Yes. This is caused by if (fail++ 100) condition that was never triggered in normal operation, but now it can fail. Calling ask_yn() function do not appear to handle this correctly. diff --git a/e2fsck/util.c b/e2fsck/util.c index 56c6b35..48dc919 100644 --- a/e2fsck/util.c +++ b/e2fsck/util.c @@ -121,7 +121,7 @@ static int read_a_char(void) (e2fsck_global_ctx-flags E2F_FLAG_CANCEL)) { return 3; } - r = read(0, c, 1); + r = read(0, c, 100); if (r == 1) return c; if (fail++ 100) Cheers, Petr -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Leave search bar and passwords visible. 2) Focus search bar, enter search term (I used test), enter password test, open the details of test2 item (with doubleclick) 3) Now, while the window with item details is displayed, right click on the revelation-applet icon, select Preferences and uncheck Show passwords and other secrets option. = applet will crash most of the time. Bug#617300: [gajim] Contact not visible in roster
Package: gajim Version: 0.13.4-3 Severity: normal --- Please enter the report below this line. --- Hi, I am using several IM clients, each with other resource of the same XMPP acccount. After removing a contact from its only group (don't rememember if I was doing it using Gajim, maybe MCabber) it was no more visible in Gajim roster. This contact was still present in `roster_group` table in ~/.gajim/logs.db, but the `group_name` column was empty. After removing this row, the contact became visible again. Bug#614966: [httrack] Content of some random files is replaced with HTTP 416 Error HTML page
Package: httrack Version: 3.43.12-1 Severity: important Hello, I use httrack to mirror an intranet web. For each affected file there are two entries in the httrack log: 1) Info: engine: warning: entry cleaned up, but no trace on heap: URL (location of mirrored file) 2) Near the log tail: Warning: Unexpected 412/416 error (Requested Range Not Satisfiable) for URL Solutions I've found: 1) Delete affected files from mirror and make update. Repeat until there is no erroneous files. 2) increase max connections per second with: --connection-per-second=(=10) --disable-security-limits 3) use -N%0 switch (this disable delayed type check) The last solution works fine every time. There is a thread in httrack forum with more info: http://forum.httrack.com/readmsg/20479/ If this bug is not easy to fix, it would be nice if affected files will not be stored in the mirror (as update do not retry to download them) and treated as errors by httrack and/or make -N%0 switch default. Bug#606077: [plymouth] console font is not setup after boot
Dne 6.12.2010 13:18, Daniel Baumann napsal(a): by default, this is working since there's this: lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 27 Aug 14 11:59 /etc/rcS.d/S21console-screen.sh - ../init.d/console-screen.sh lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 Aug 14 11:59 /etc/rcS.d/S22console-setup - ../init.d/console-setup make sure your system is not altered manually wrt/ to above. Hello Daniel, First, I have forgot to mention that console font is setup if I boot with nosplash boot param. So my rc.S symlinks do probably work. Second, I tried to manage what happening by examine /var/log/boot.log as mentioned in /usr/share/doc/plymouth/README, but there is no such file. /var/log is owned by root.root, access is 0755. LC_ALL=C plymouth-log-viewer Failed to open file '/var/log/boot.log': No such file or directory Now to your question: I use kdb instead of console-tools, therefore no console-screen.sh init.d script. lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 30. lis 23.29 S16kbd - ../init.d/kbd lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 30. lis 23.29 S17console-setup - ../init.d/console-setup These symlinks match with dependencies in their init.d scripts. I run insserv -d kbd console-setup for sure, but nothing has been changed. Next I replaced kbd package with console-tools (1:0.2.3dbs-69). Now I have lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 27 7. pro 00.45 S17console-screen.sh - ../init.d/console-screen.sh lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 7. pro 00.45 S18kbd - ../init.d/kbd lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 7. pro 00.45 S19console-setup - ../init.d/console-setup Start script are shifted now because console-screen.sh depends on $local_fs. I restarted and console fonts were still not set. Next I disabled gdm3 starting and console font is setup right (same as with nosplash boot param). I tried install kdm instead, but didn't work neither. $ cat /etc/initramfs-tools/modules i915 modeset=1 xorg: 7.5+8 graphics card: Integrated Graphics Chipset: Intel(R) 965GM (X3100 on notebook placket) xorg using intel driver ACER 5313 Cheers, Petr -- S pozdravem, Petr Gajdůšek -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#606077: [plymouth] console font is not setup after boot
Hi, I realize that font is not set correctly only on tty1, that tty with plymouth splash running. Cannot imagine how could I miss this. I will retitle the bugreport. Sorry. I debug console-setup script and it is properly executed and calls setupcon. Setupcon then calls setfont on every tty but returns error on tty1: setfont -v -C /dev/tty1 /usr/share/consolefonts/Lat2-Terminus16.psf.gz -v setfont: graphics console /dev/tty1 skipped If I enable bootlogd in /etc/default/bootblogd I can see some messages on tty1. All messages from S init level are distorted (carriage does not return on new lines). Since console-setup is executed (end of S level) messages are ok even on tty1. But fonts is set only in tty[2-6]. In your respond I saw console-screen.sh init script which comes from console-tools. It is deprecated, isn't it? You probably do not use it anymore? In any case I tried to replace kbd with console-tools. If I understand right, console-setup (in fact setupcon) will just use consolechars from console-tools to set fonts. Setfont from kbd is used otherwise. Apart from random console switching whenever trying to set fonts nothing changed, no error was printed when trying to set font on tty1, but the font was definitely not set. consolechars -v --tty=/dev/tty1 -f /usr/share/consolefonts/Lat2-Terminus16.psf.gz Loading 256-chars 8x16 font from file `/usr/share/consolefonts/Lat2-Terminus16.psf.gz'. Setting kernel SFM. Actually It tries to setup every console three times, last run on tty1 returns this error: consolechars -v --tty=/dev/tty1 -f /usr/share/consolefonts/Lat2-Terminus16.psf.gz Loading 256-chars 8x16 font from file `/usr/share/consolefonts/Lat2-Terminus16.psf.gz'. set_kernel_font: Invalid argument I didn't try to completely remove console-setup and configure console-tools to doing things alone, I think it wouldn't work either. So the problem is setfont refuses to set font on tty1 because it is considered as graphics console. Console chars probably tries but font is not changed in result. Do you have correct font on tty1? Now I don't know if this is something you can make anything with. Maybe this is bug in setfont? Maybe this is by design? Only workaround I have found is to call setupcon --force from rc.local. I must add --force option because it is run on /dev/pty/? and setupcon refuses to set fonts on non tty devices. I don't know if it is not dangerous but it works for me. This must be called after plymouth finish, otherwise it will not work at all. Bug#601242: [bugs.debian.org] cont...@bugs.debian.org does no understand e-mails with format=flowed (RFC 2646) content
Package: bugs.debian.org Severity: normal --- Please enter the report below this line. --- Hi, cont...@bugs.debian.org does no understand e-mails with format=flowed (RFC 2646 [1]) content. Messages composed with Icedove/Thunderbird have format=flowed content and this can be changed only in about:config page (mailnews.send_plaintext_flowed item). This makes impossible to retitle bug with default icedove configuration because cont...@bugs.debian.org does not understand soft line breaks (SPACE CRLF) in format=flowed messages and treats them as normal line breaks. So it is not possible to retitle bug to cca 50 or more character long title. Bug#400189: [xserver-xorg-video-nv] I have same problem
Package: xserver-xorg-video-nv Version: 1:2.1.14-2 Hello, first early sorry for my bad english. I have same problem. This problem is caused by nv driver failing in detection to which output the monitor is connected. In my and Andrew's, the original reporter's, case, nv has detected monitor connected to CRT1, but in fact it was connected to CRT0 (mine sure, Andrew's I guess). My graphics card does not have second connector at all (but TV-out does). I have GeForce 6600 (NV43) on AGP (256MB) and analog Huynday ImageQuest L19T LCD monitor. Explicitly setting correct CrtcNumber option in xorg.conf makes nv driver on my card fully functional: Whole contents of /etc/X11/xorg.conf: Section Device Identifier GeForce 6600 Driver nv VendorName NVIDIA Corporation Option CrtcNumber 0 EndSection I hope this would be soon resolved because it makes for many people debian not functional after installation - X does not start properly and user cannot switch to console either, because it is unreadable too. It renderes debian uninstallable for people with affected nvidia cards (and with not much linux experience) or unnecessarily long (the need of single user boot and manually configuring xserver). Severity of this bug should at least raise to important. I think it should be even higher because it renders debian uninstallable for some people in some situations. VTs were not affected if I booted with vga=0x31A parameter.
