Bug#1067660: wireplumber: Wireplumber 0.5.0 breaks asahi-audio 1.x

2024-03-25 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: wireplumber
Version: 0.4.17-1+b1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

According to the new api in wireplumber asahi-audio 1.x breaks. The asahi
developer tries to fix this upstream in asahi-audio during this week but
because of the
api change asahi-audio 2.x will break with wireplumber <0.5.0.

So there is/will be a direct dependency:

wireplumber 0.4.x compatible to asahi-audio 1.x
wireplumber >= 0.5.0 comaptible to asahi-audio 2.x

Bug#1058672: lsp-plugins: Bug in msmatrix code can cause speaker damage

2023-12-14 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: lsp-plugins-lv2
Version: 1.2.13-1
Severity: normal
File: lsp-plugins
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,

according to upstream merge https://github.com/lsp-plugins/lsp-dsp-lib/pull/20
a bug in msmatrix code can cause

"really nasty full-scale buzzing/crackling of the speakers,
the kind of thing that could damage them (and since it is a periodic glitch and
not
continuous, our power/thermal speaker monitoring [speakdersafetyd]
does not catch it as a problem)."

This mainly concerns aarch64 (Asahi) macs in general but may effect other
aarch64 systems too.

Because this will not be fixed soon (waiting for the next upstream
release) it may be useful to fix this bug by already backporting it.

Bug#1056550: firefox: Firefox 120.0 segfaults on Apple Silicon

2023-11-22 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: firefox
Version: 120.0-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

Firefox 120 segfaults at startup on Apple Silicon machines. Looks like
enabled jemalloc causes this crash because it can only handle 4k
pageing. Asahi kernel systems work with 16k pageing. Firefox works if
compiled with --disable-jemalloc.

I can confirm this bug on 2.4.2-3. I am not able to print double sided

I suspect that for some reason, the old client did not take

whether this is intended, but I couldn't find any information

2022-03-25 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: plymouth
Version: 22.02.122-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

the plymouth splash screener switches to black screen when booting up on
a m1 mac machine with asahi linux. Unfortunatelly plymouth works fine
with Fedora Rawhide (also 22.02.122) with exactly the same kernel. So I
expect a problem with plymouth but not with the kernel.

* enable splash option in /etc/default/grub
* update-initrd
* reboot

Expected:

System starts up and switches to plymouth graphics

Actual behaviour:

System starts and blanks screen.

additional alsa-output.pci-_00_03.0.hdmi-stereo I had not before ;-)

So now there is the question where to put the dependency (or a
dependency anyways) to wireplumber?

Bug#995116: 0.3.39-1 No soundcard anymore

2021-10-25 Thread Thomas Renard

I tested 0.3.39 and there no soundcard is found anymore. With pw-top no
soundcard is listed: No internal laptop card and no external (here
Focusrite Starlett 2i2). Because of this all sound dependend services
are blocked (no video starting, no audio)

When going back to 0.3.38-2 everything is listed up fine and working as
expected.

Bug#966361: gnome-shell: Windows preview render problem in overview

2020-08-02 Thread Thomas Renard
I can confirm this problem. In addition there are problems for switching
workspaces with key pressing:

- open a virtualbox console
- try to switch to another workspace by keypress (for me it is Win-Ctrl
up/down)

expected: switch to another workspace
actual behavior: virtualbox console still activated and workspace does
not change

Some windows are not shown anymore (like wine windows):

- start a wine program

expected: program is started and shown on desktop
actual: program is started (and you see the program name left on gnome
bar - with menu for closing it, details...
You can see the opened window in overview (scrambled with all windows of
all workspaces of course) but clicking on it does not open it - and you
can see the program name on gnome bar again.

Because all of these effects occur with gnome shell 3.36.3-1 or 3.36.4-1
(not sure if it was with 3.36.3-1 already) together all these focussing
problems may depend on the same problem. Because of that I first add
this to #966361.

Of course with and without any extensions activated.

Found this upstream bug too.

I did it the other way round and installed the 5.3 kernel from unstable
(5.3.7-1). By now the problem does not occur (about an hour working with
this kernel).

So the solving of the problem might be: waiting for 5.3 in testing ;-)

Bug#942801: gnome-shell: Invisible mouse pointer

2019-10-21 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.34.1-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

The mouse pointer gets invisible on desktop background and the shell
elements after some desktop actions. Application windows have a
full functional mouse pointer. Unfortunately I cannot explain which
situation gets the pointer invisible, probably suspending the laptop and
start it again.

* Move the mouse pointer around an application window (pointer can be
  seen)
* Move the pointer to the background or to the top bar

Expected: Mouse pointer is still visible
Actual behaviour: Mouse pointer gets invisible

It is quite difficult to explain when this effect occured. I assume it
began when changing to a 5.x kernel still with gnome-shell 3.2. No
changes with 3.4.

There are some ways to force a visible mouse pointer again, like opening
the "change background" dialog. But after some actions (switching between
windows of different programs) the cursor is invisible again.

I am using "focus on moving mouse over" set in tweak tool's window
tab.

Ok, version 1.50.3-2 seems to work. I enabled notifications again and
some extensions and everything looks fine by now. No crash till now.

But as we know: this version now is as "buggy" (bug overlay...) as
1.50.2-2 so are there any efforts to debug the problem further (e. g.
via #887082 or #881301) - then I would try to help in the next days.

Bug#888199: gnome-shell crashes at different circumstances (not usable anymore)

2018-01-23 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.26.2-4
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

(it began with 3.26.2-3 with today's apt-upgrade before 3.26.2-4 but
intel-microcode?? it crashes way more often)

For me actual gnome shell crashes

- seconds after establishing my network connection (which does not
  establish by itself anymore - bug with network-manager - time for
  another bug report)
- after resuming suspend
- and after one of the last circumstances it crashes directly after
  login

Nevertheless if on Wayland or X.

Because of these crashes gnome-shell gets unusable. Because of this I may have
problems to send you useful mails (journalctl attachment available, I hope
I can send it with reportbug, will try to send it via gnus with the next
post then). I can reproduce this problem
on two machines.

Bug#882487: thunderbird: Thunderbird won't start - not even with .thunderbird deleted

I have the same problem and also the apparmor DENY messages not only for

subsystem_vendor (when writing special apparmor filter for that). After
setting

in /etc/apparmor.d/local/usr.bin.thunderbird it crashes just with

and without any additional apparmor dmesg warning. When stracing the
whole stuff SIGTERMS when threading into /usr/lib/thunderbird/thunderbird

Bug#880687: apt: etckeeper does not work with apt anymore

2017-11-03 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: apt
Version: 1.6~alpha3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

etckeeper cannot update repository anymore.

* apt upgrade

Expected

* all files are upgraded
* etckeeper does git stuff.

Actual behavior

* all files are upgraded

output like this:

... (some more files with no permissions)#
xdg/autostart/xdg-user-dirs.desktop: Keine Berechtigung
xdg/autostart/xembedsniproxy.desktop: Keine Berechtigung
xdg/autostart/zeitgeist-datahub.desktop: Keine Berechtigung
fatal: Konnte '/etc/.git/index.lock' nicht erstellen: Das Dateisystem ist nur
lesbar
warning: etckeeper failed to commit changes in /etc using git

(sorry for the german output - this is something like "permission denied" for
the files
and /etc/.git/index.lock could not be created: read only file system)

/etc/.git is in /,

/dev/mapper/flynne-root on / type btrfs
(rw,noatime,compress=lzo,ssd,space_cache,subvolid=4965,subvol=/@)

so filesystem is rw.

ls -ld /etc/.git

drwx-- 1 root root 144 Nov  1 19:34 /etc/.git

probably it worked with apt 1.5 neither - Upgrade with ansible for some
weeks without an output of the warnings...

Because 1.6~alpha3 has seccomp I expect that there may be some
jailing/sandboxing mechanism that could deny etckeeper working?? Does 1.5 also
have jailing
(via namespaces)? Behavior looks like it would be if you jail an
application with firejail and forgot directories to set rw. And no, apt
is not symbol linked to firejail ;-)

Bug#850467: kodi: Wrong "device" path for lirc

2017-01-06 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: kodi
Version: 2:17.0~beta6+dfsg1-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

kodi is hard coded to the wrong "device" path to lirc.
The binary tries /dev/lircd but the "device" (which is a socket!)
can be found at /var/run/lirc/lircd.

 - write ~/.kodi/userdata/Lircmap.xml according to working irw data
 - start kodi

expected:

 - IR remote works

actual behavior:

 - IR does not work

some debugging:

 - ln -s /var/run/lirc/lircd /dev/lircd
 - start kodi again

then: IR remote works

 - rm /dev/lircd
 - kodi -l /var/run/lirc/lircd

then: IR remote works

because the socket is put to /var/run/lirc/lircd by the lirc package it
should also be hard coded to this position in kodi.bin

Bug#849266: Kodi problem

2017-01-06 Thread Thomas Renard
After additional debugging I found out that this is a problem of the
actual kodi (and I will create a bug for it there):

kodi tries to use a "device" /dev/lircd. But this is a misunderstanding:
the "device" is a socket: /var/run/lirc/lircd. There is a workaround:
start kodi with -l /var/run/lirc/lircd - then it works again.

I expect a similar problem for vdr with the actual lirc version.
Everything is fine with lirc but the clients use more or less not legal
settings.

So for me this bug can be closed.

There were some things broken, so I re-installed lirc (with --purge),
did your lirc-make-devinput and now I am at the point where I can see
the events of my remote via irw (again). But mapping this to kodi (or
vdr) still fails.

Because I did not find out how (and with wich lib) kodi connects to lirc
I need some time to investigate. Please stand by - I will give you more
information if I find out the problem from my point of view.

Dear Maintainer,

with the upgrade to 0.9.4c-5 there is no communication to vdr and kodi

Bug#845144: asterisk console scrambles (or misinterprets) input

2016-11-20 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: asterisk
Version: 1:13.12.2~dfsg-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

 * enter sudo asterisk -r to enter the console
 * type sip (or any other input)

Expected:

 * console shows "sip"

Actual behavior: It looks like this:

Asterisk 13.12.2~dfsg-1, Copyright (C) 1999 - 2014, Digium, Inc. and
others.
Created by Mark Spencer
Asterisk comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY; type 'core show warranty'

myhost*CLI> \U+0F73\U+0F69\U+0F70

sometimes after typing return it is possible to enter a normal command
but with the next line the effect reappears.

So the console is nearly unusable.

Bug#838857: firefox: Widevine is not installed

2016-09-25 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: firefox
Version: 49.0-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

The widevine module is not loaded.

 * open firefox (maybe a new profile)
 * open your favorite non-free video service
 * a banner asks if drm should be activated: Say yes
 * banner now informs that the drm functionality will be there soon
 * open about:addons and switch to plugins
 * widevine module is shown with a message that it will be available
   soon

Expected:

 * module is activated after a short time and drm works

Actual outcome:

 * the activation stucks. In "plugins" the message for availability does
   not go away.

I tried the same as root (probably permission problems??) and with empty
profiles but no further activity.

Bug#838047: Confirmed: breaks *all* tablets

Bug#834850: glusterfs-server: Cannot mount file systems on second machine after update

2016-08-19 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: glusterfs-server
Version: 3.8.1-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I have a cluster of two brick servers running glusterfs with mounted dirs from
gluster.

 * Upgrade first machine to 3.8.2-1 and reboot it (works fine, other
   machine still on 3.8.1-1)
 * Upgrade second machine to 3.8.2-1 and reboot it

Expected: Machine 2 boots and mounts all mountpoints defined in fstab

Actual:
 * systemctl status is degraded, mounting failed.
 * when mounting by hand an error occurs ("read log for more")

fstab looks like this:

thishost:/name /data/name glusterfs
defaults,_netdev,backupvolfile-server=otherhost 0 0

here otherhost 192.168.1.10, thishost 192.168.1.11 (see log)

example of such a log:

[2016-08-19 18:52:11.568199] E [socket.c:2391:socket_connect_finish]
0-glusterfs: connection to 192.168.1.10:24007 failed

[2016-08-19 18:52:11.568319] I [glusterfsd-mgmt.c:1919:mgmt_rpc_notify]
0-glusterfsd-mgmt: Exhausted all volfile servers

(sorry for the german localization)

journalctl -u data-name.mount shows error messages of the type:

failed to get the 'volume file' from server

(which occurs on an upstream bug for older version of glusterfs 3.4.2)

I could not find anything upstream for this effect for 3.8.2.

Then I reinstalled 3.8.1-1 from snapshots.debian.org and after rebooting
the machines everything works fine again.

Sorry for reporting this only now and not on unstable - I did not check it
on a testing system before (and learned something now)...

to work with gtk3 now and have the same problem.

This patch works for me. So now the question is: where to repair? In
python-moinmoin or in the system wide werkzeug...

Found old binaries in /usr/local/bin. Fresh apt-get remove --purge and
reinstall did the job.

The binary works fine.

Sorry about that.

Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

after upgrading from squeeze 1.9.3-1 to jessie 1.9.8-1 the rowbgcolor
and all other color tags of my wikis with "#color" do not work anymore.
When looking into the the HTML code like the following is created:

Bug#814009: glusterfs-server: Does not work after upgrade (e. g. mount not possible anymore)

2016-02-07 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: glusterfs-server
Version: 3.7.7
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

after upgrading to 3.7.7 mounting is not possible anymore.

 glusterfs volume somevolume heal info

returns a

 failed to get the 'volume file' from server

This seems to be an upstream problem - I tried to find something which fits.
see:

 http://www.spinics.net/lists/gluster-users/msg25434.html

here the fix seems to in version 3.7.8 according to developer Joe Julian.
The main problem seems to be a wrong scripting for upgrade (second post
in thread). Downgrading to 3.7.6-1+b1 from snapshots rescued my system.
Because of the complexity I do not have any more hints (sorry about that).

I hope Severity: important is good - my systems do not work after
upgrade because they use glusterfs via

https://github.com/calvera/docker-volume-glusterfs

which does not startup either.

   * What led up to the situation?
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?

*** End of the template - remove these template lines ***

after a reboot to the new kernel 4.2.0-1-amd64 no containers start up
anymore. Productive machine unusable.

I am sure that this is not the reboot into 4.2.0, another reboot to the
older 4.1.x did not work either. This may be some update of other
packages without restarting docker I guess.

Tried the following on another (testing) machine with same default
settings:

docker start -t -i busybox /bin/sh

and get the prompt:

Error response from daemon: Cannot start container CONTAINERID: [8] System
error: open

Bug#763596: gnome-shell: Gnome 3.14: window to workspace handling does not work

2014-10-01 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.14.0-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

there is a silly handling of the windows/workspaces with the actual 3.14
gnome-shell with X-window:

* Open gnome on X

* place a window e.g. terminal on the first workspace
* right-click somewhere outside the window (the background): settings
  and background settings menu appears
* remember the position of the opened window
* change to another workspace
* right-click somewhere outside the created window position: settings and
  background settings appear
* move the mouse somewhere inside the window position: when entering
  the window the mouse pointer changes to resize and then to text
  enter (if the opened window was the terminal)
* right-click at the position of the window: desktop hangs e.g. window
  close buttons do not work no text entering possible. This lock can
  only be recovered by typing super key for app view and back
* when then normaly working and left (!) clicking at the background
  sometimes the settings and background settings menu appears

Then:

* close the X-gnome session
* open a wayland gnome session
* repeat the test above: everything works fine: the window
  manager creates the settings window on an empty workspace at opened
  window positions

hm I will work on wayland the next time...

Bug#751952: linux-image-3.14-1-amd64: 3.14.7-1 crashes on startup on NUC DN2820

2014-06-18 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.14.4-1
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

Dear Maintainer,

after upgrading from 3.14.5-1 to 3.14.7-1 the system crashes directly
after the message Uncompressing linux image...

Booting into single user mode let the system hang on different positions
around the SATA drive detection of the SSD. I am very
sorry I had no camera around - and I needed to get the machine work fast
again. So I swapped back to 3.14.4-1 via d-i recovery mode. The
following information is from this 3.14.4-1.

I can only report an issue actual and I try to reconstruct this problem on a
twin machine in the next days with some camera screenshots. But maybe
some early message is helpful before moving the image into testing...

Bug#750772: Lost again

lost my contacts again (as I wrote: vanilla owncloud in an upgraded

Bug#750772: php cache?

2014-06-12 Thread Thomas Renard
Do you have some php runtime cache installed like php5-apcu or
php5-xcache? I had the same problem (0 address entries but counts in
address groups - empty set). But I am running the whole stuff in a
docker container with vanilla tarball from owncloud so it may not be an
accurate testing environment :-(

After disabling php5-apcu it seems to work again: there is some
calculating time before showing the address entries - and a full list is
then shown of course).

The error message does not mean that this is a sql index missing but an
index of an array which is initialized in the function variable call
near line 55 in database.php. php5-apcu seems to cache the definition
and there seems to be a condition where this index is not accurate when
overwriting the array ob calling the function.

Bug#748063: debian-installer: Please offer luks serpent xts 512b

2014-05-13 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: debian-installer
Version: testing
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

according to
http://www.reddit.com/r/crypto/comments/235i58/linux_cryptosetup_strong_crypto_settings/

serpent-512b-xts seems to be the fastest software crypt algorithm for
luks. But the debian installer menu only offers 256b-xts. It would be
nice to have a 512b option.

Bug#747648: docker.io: docker 0.11.1 ssh to containers do not work anymore

2014-05-10 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: docker.io
Version: 0.11.1~dfsg1-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

ssh to a docker container does not work with docker 0.11.1, swap to
older 0.9.1~dfsg1-2 and ssh works again.

try the following Dockerfile in an empty directory:

snip...

FROM debian:testing

RUN echo deb http://http.debian.net/debian/ testing main
/etc/apt/sources.list
RUN apt-get update

RUN apt-get install -y openssh-server

RUN mkdir /var/run/sshd

RUN mkdir /root/.ssh
ADD id_rsa.pub /root/.ssh/authorized_keys
RUN chmod 600 /root/.ssh/authorized_keys
RUN chmod 700 /root/.ssh
RUN chown -R root.root /root/.ssh

EXPOSE 22
CMD /usr/sbin/sshd -D

snip...

copy a working id_rsa.pub of your user into your Dockerfile's directory
do: docker build testssh .
do: docker run --name myssh -t -i testssh
Find container's IP in another terminal:
MYIP=`docker inspect --format '{{ .NetworkSettings.IPAddress }}' myssh`
ssh $MYIP

Expected: you get a root prompt in your running container

This works with 0.9.1~dfsg1-2. With 0.11.1 the login banner is shown and
after this the connection is closed - no prompt

According to

https://github.com/dotcloud/docker/pulse/monthly#merged-pull-requests

there were problems with ssh and selinux set but I run docker.io
without the --selinux-enable option. Of course with --selinux-enable it
does not work either.

Bug#747648: some corrections

2014-05-10 Thread Thomas Renard
Just three corrections/informations:

I made a symbolic link /usr/bin/docker - /usr/bin/docker.io so for
testing you need docker.io commands on a stock debian system.

You want to ssh root@$MYIP.

And I am running a systemd machine with docker.io.

Sorry

compiled patch I have the same effect as in the first post (counters
running fast, no sound).

Bug#697350: ebook-speaker: Does not work with mbrola voice files

2013-01-04 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: ebook-speaker
Version: 2.0-2+b1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

ebook-speaker does not work with mbrola voice files.

 * install ebook-speaker and e. g. mbrola-de4
 * check if it is working with espeak:
   echo Dies ist ein Test | espeak -v mb-de4
 * call ebook-speaker:
  * ebook-speaker -l mb-de4 some.epub
  * or set language=mb-de4 in ~/.eBook-speaker.rc and call
ebook-speaker some.epub

Expected:

 * The epub is read with the mbrola voice

Actual:

 * The text of the book is shown and the reading pointers move
 * No sound
 * with set language=mb-de4: after reading the parameter is changed to
   language=mb-de (4 is missing!)

This seeems to be a problem when copying the language parameter to
dc_language in eBook-speaker.c. Proposal patch in next bug post!

Bug#678956: owncloud: Web File Browser: Duplicating folders

2012-06-25 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: owncloud
Version: 4.0.3debian-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM:
Account exists allready. Upgrade to 4.0.3
1. Log in to your web interface: http://my.site/owncloud/
2. Create a new Directory BugTest
3. Click into the Directory
4. move some File(s) into this place
5. Click Tab Files

EXPECTED OUTCOME:

You can see just one directory BugTest

ACTUAL OUTCOME:

You can see this directory twice or more

REPRODUCIBILITY:

8/10 (for me it happens everytime from update 4.0.2-4.0.3)
Eventually you need to delete the Files in BugTest again to see the bug.

OTHER COMMENTS:

For me this also happens after recreate the Cache index and upgrade to 4.0.3
again. Sometimes the number of Directories increases with every click on
the Files tab. 4.0.2 without any upgrade is ok.

Bug#666468: xorg-server: major text display problems in several apps

2012-06-15 Thread Thomas Renard
With the following packages the bug disappears:

ii  xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:0.0.16+git20120529+ace77b6-1
ii  linux-image-3.4-trunk-amd643.4.1-1~experimental.1

Unfortunately these packages are both experimental and I am not able to
test the video driver with a stock 3.2 kernel right now. Maybe someone
could test the experimental video driver with the
linux-image-3.2.0-2-amd64? Or are there dependencies between the xserver
and the linux-image-3.4?

Bug#676600: [Pkg-owncloud-maintainers] Bug#676600: owncloud - lighttpd - php5-fpm: undefined method

2012-06-10 Thread Thomas Renard
On 10.06.2012 21:36, Paul van Tilburg wrote:
 Hi!

Hi!

 Do you mean by a fully new installation an installation using the released
 tarball from upstream?

I meant: clean new debian package with lighty. I am running the upstream
tgz and wanted to change to the debian package. But I knew from former
upgrades that there are problems with data/ and config/ so I thought
that the problems occured by copying the running upstream to an backup
directory, install the debian package and then copy data and config
stuff to the right place. But after the problem occured I reinstalled
the debian package again and tried out the package without the old data
from my upstream installation. And this clean installation had the
problem too.

 footnote1:
 lighty configuration for owncloud (works with stock owncloud tarball):

 alias.url += ( /owncloud/ = /var/lib/owncloud/ )

 $HTTP[url] =~ ^/owncloud/data/ {
 url.access-deny = ()
 }

 $HTTP[url] =~ ^/owncloud($|/) {
 dir-listing.activate = disable
 }

 Given the .htaccess file that is shipped with ownCloud 4,

 I am actually not aware whether lighttpd can read and use .htacess
 files. If not, given the .htaccess file that is shipped with ownCloud
 4, I am not sure that just the above three directives are enough to get
 it working.

Lighty does not know anything about .htaccess. The config above is the
offical config for lighty from the upstream documentation (mostly
security stuff only the first line is needed to get it run with the
upstream tarball.

So the configuration is tested with my actual running upstream tarball
with no problems. Because the debian packages looks like the original
(with the symbolic links pointing to /usr/share...) this should work
with the debian packages too.

 Cheers,
 Paul

Bug#676600: owncloud - lighttpd - php5-fpm: undefined method

2012-06-08 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: owncloud
Version: 4.0.1debian-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM:

1. This problem depends on installed lighttpd and php5-fpm!
2. Install owncloud, owncloud-sqlite
3. get it work proper with lighttpd (footnote1)
4. open browser and go to your owncloud site
5. enter admin credentials

EXPECTED OUTCOME:

You will be directed to your owncloud start page.

ACTUAL OUTCOME:

Internal server error or white page. lighttpd log shows:

error.log:2012-06-07 14:06:37: (mod_fastcgi.c.2699) FastCGI-stderr: PHP
message: PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined method OC_App::addSettingsPage()
in /usr/share/owncloud/files/appinfo/app.php on line 6

The first web page is not the expected owncloud page design but simple html.
Maybe the css-stuff is missing too. Because of the mod_fastcgi error it
may occur with php5-cgi too.

REPRODUCIBILITY:
always.

First I thought it was a migration problem from stock owncloud binaries
to the debian package but it occurs with a fully new installation too.

Bug#675912: gnome-shell: Nouveau + Dual-Monitor: Artifacts on windows

2012-06-04 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.4.1-5
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

This problem occurs on a Nouveau system with two monitors.

EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM:
1. create new user and log in with this user (to prevent config probs)
2. open preferences monitors
3. uncheck screen mirror so you have a desktop with two screens
4. use this new setup
5. open some windows.
6. open chromium and open a second chromium window. Put the second window
   on another workspace. Open some tabs on both chrome windows.
   Put one window on the left, the other window on the right screen (other
   workspace, of course)
7. open an epiphany window
8. do your daily work...

EXPECTED OUTCOME:

All elements of all applications are rendered fine

ACTUAL OUTCOME:

chrome: Tabs titles get unreadable artifacts. On mouse over the artifacts
may move to other tabs. When leaving the tab with the mouse the artifacts
change again

terminal: The whole text field gets artifacts sometimes.

epiphany: artifacts on different parts of the web pages

REPRODUCIBILITY:
6/10

OTHER COMMENTS:

This is quite complicated to reproduce. There is no way to make a
screenshot of the artifacts :-(

The problem occured at some time in the last weeks
when moving from gnome3.2 to gnome3.4
(with gnome-shell 3.2 too) so that may be a problem with some library used
by gnome-shell and not gnome-shell itself. Moving the focus between windows
or window elements may change the artifacts. This problem occurs with stock
kernel 3.2.0-2-amd64 too.

Bug#675311: gnome-shell does not use proxy

2012-05-31 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.4.1-5
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM:

Your environment should only allow internet access via web proxy

1. (Create new user and log in with this user - to avoid config problems)
2. Type Super - Proxy and select Network
3. Select Network-Proxy and configure your proxy credentials
4. (log out, log in)
5. Open Web Browser and go to http://extensions.gnome.org
6. (for this example: Remove Activities Button, bug appears on every
   extension of course) in the search field of the page type activities
7. Go to Page Remove Activities Button
8. Switch to On
9. On Dialog click Install

EXPECTED OUTCOME:

The Activities button disappears after some time

ACTUAL OUTCOME:

Nothing happens. Reload of the Remove Activities Button page: Switch is
Off again

REPRODUCIBILITY:
always

OTHER COMMENTS:

This only happens with a proxy environment. If the system has direct
internet connection everything works fine. According to
https://extensions.gnome.org/about/ you need the gnome proxy settings
and the web browser's settings pointing to the right proxy settings.
For this test epiphany is used which uses the gnome settings too (and
works - you can see the page http://extensions.gnome.org)

Bug#666200: php5-cgi: tt-rss backend.php crashes after update to php 5.4

2012-03-29 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: php5-cgi
Version: 5.4.0-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

this problem occurs with the non debian package tt-rss trunk:
https://github.com/gothfox/Tiny-Tiny-RSS.git
commit c20b5168b5a9103e1a2633973492c89fa03a5a57
against postgresql via php5-pgsql

After upgrading to php5 5.4.0 this application crashes php-cgi with
sporadic segfaults when calling the json backend.php of this system.
I tried to remove any tunings in php.ini.

I removed php5-xcache due to known issues (#665006) but the segfaults
still occur. Stuff done with standard distribution

 * apt-get install lighttpd php5-cgi postgres php5-pgsql
 * lighty-enable-mod fastcgi
 * lighty-enable-mod fastcgi-php
 * lighty-enable-mod pgsql

Then

 * Git clone above git to /var/lib/tt-rss
 * lighty config: alias.url += ( /tt  = /var/lib/tt-rss )
 * create a postgres database and fill it with tt-rss' sql scheme
 * configure tt-rss (set database parameter in config.php)
 * restart lighttpd
 * open browser and use this application

Expected outcome:

 * Working with the application without problems

Actual outcome:

 * syslog reports: php-cgi segfault
 * lighttpd reports: connection failure to php-cgi
 * application reports: wrong header file

This application loads static files (js, css) and does continuous
calls to the application's backend.php. I append a coredump of
the segfault (maybe with the next post)

Other php applications (also selfmade, like owncloud, horde4) work
as expected - after uninstalling php5-xcache of course.

Bug#656623: libp11-kit0: symbolic link p11-kit-proxy.so missing

2012-02-22 Thread Thomas Renard
Sorry for this delay: The library is needed according to this
documentation for connecting firefox/iceweasel and chrome/chromium to
the smart card crypto stuff:

https://live.gnome.org/CryptoGlue/Integration#Firefox (and following
Chrome)

There it is defined in configurations of these browsers explicitly

Bug#654530: gnome-shell: ~/.local/share/applications

2012-01-29 Thread Thomas Renard
hm...

after playing around with alacarte I found out that
Sonstiges/Others was checked out - an this is the section
including e. g. the epiphany stuff and other things lying around in
.local/share/applications. After checking in this section it is working
for me now. I do not know how this section was checked out but this is
not necessary to known in this bug.

Sorry about that.

Dear Maintainer,

Bug#654530: gnome-shell: ~/.local/share/applications/*.desktop not searched

 Could you please attach those desktop files?

Of course...

this is my epiphany-webtwitter...desktop. I removed all other .desktop
files from ~/.local/share/applications so that other files will not have
any influence. On another machine (64bit) it works with the actual
shell. Problems with an i386 system.

 I think the i386 vs x86_64 observation is a red herring.
 Please test with a fresh user account on your i386 system.

created really fresh user on the i386 system and made the following
steps without any other things:

 * (as root) adduser testuser ...
 * Login from gdm3
 * Open Epiphany
 * Enter Url http://twitter.com
 * Save as Web application
 * Press windows key
 * Enter webtwi (not found)
 * Clean text field and enter twi (not found)

Unfortunately no luck with a fresh user too.

Bug#654530: gnome-shell: ~/.local/share/applications/*.desktop not searched

2012-01-03 Thread Thomas Renard
Package: gnome-shell
Version: 3.2.1-8
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?

*** End of the template - remove these lines ***

~/.local/share/applications is not searched for applications, e. g. web
applications created by epiphany or wine
applications which create a starter. The following example is done with
epiphany:

 * open epiphany
 * go to http://twitter.com
 * - File - Save as web application
 * save as WebTwitter
 * (notify: WebTwitter is now ready)
 * .local/share/applications/epiphany-webtwitter-[0-9a-f]+.desktop is created
 * open the gnome shell (e.g. press the windows button)
 * type webtwitter

expected:

 * WebTwitter is selectable to start

but:

 * WebTwitter is not found

No .desktop file can be found in .local/share/applications from gnome-shell
This behaviour changes from gnome-shell version to version. Sometimes it works.
With 3.2.1 it does not work.
