This might be because others are not using Qt5 at all. It's strange, but
understandable in case that newer Qt5 is using chromium as a web backend and
it is not compileable to anything except x86 and arm and this renders Qt5
almost unusable in modern cases.

The older installation on G5 is working the same in all users (tried new one).
The G4 installation on powerbook is the fresh one.

Both installations are independent and on older one (G5 one) I've tried
several users.

Reading the bugs there I've found that it is possible that the problem is in
QXcbAtom::ButtonWheel* wrong detection. I'm yet unable to find how does Qt5
detects wheel buttons and where from it is getting the mouse events.
The xinput shows everything ok, and Qt4 and GTK2/3 apps all are using the
wheel perfectly
Regarding the bugreport. I should register on the site and when I will fill
bug report I'll attach it here.

This is definitely reproducible. The current Qt5 version is 5.9.2-2 on my quad
G5, and 5.8.4 on G4 powerbook. Both machines are not reacting on mousewheel
events at all. I've tried KDE, LXQt. GTK2/3 apps are not affected at all.

And is this a problem? Or is this you just see in a debugger?

Just seen that in debug session, and was confused by this.

During startup it will detect cpu capabilities. This is done by
running instructions that might or might not be supported.
Getting SIGILL is normal in that function.

Ok. Close the issue then.

Seems that it's really a qtwebkit. Problem is that qupzilla is not segfaulting
while using the same qtwebkit. kde-telepathy on other hand segfaults while
trying to show a youtube video. Strange.

Not related to this bug, but that kernel is outdated and unsupported.

Not related to this, but related to other. The 3.16 kernel gets GPU stuck on
nvidia cards for me.

Dear Maintainer,
After upgrade to latest testing nouveau driver colors in X became ugly. Also
all cursor graphics became garbaged.
KDE's jumping icons upon start of application became garbage.

Thanks for the heads-up! Could you tell us what kernel version you used
and what the version of the X.org driver was (Debian package versions)?

I'm using debian testing versions. You are good telepathist. 8)

Out of curiosity, what X.org driver are you using? Assuming you are
using Debian testing with a 3.16 kernel and 7.5.0 radeon driver, you
won't be able to use the radeon driver anymore but just the generic,
 low-performance fbdev driver.

Yes. 3.16.7-ckt2-1 linux-image and 1:7.5.0-1 xserver-xorg-video-radeon.
And yes, the gui is very slow and unresponsive.

PS: is there any possibility to get fw for powermac g5 pci-e radeon cards? the
default nvidia card is a very big pain now.

Bug#757015: iceweasel: Bookmarks toolbar is not shown when enabled.

2014-11-17 Thread Vladimir Berezenko
Package: iceweasel
Version: 33.1-1
Followup-For: Bug #757015

Dear Maintainer,

the problem with bookmarks toolbar is still here. Additional info is:
The default firefox folders can be put to toolbar and are shown (like last
added to bookmarks, etc.). Other items are not. Any new folder created in
bookmarks always have the name New Folder (in russian equivalent) and can't
be changed anyhow. The problem is only encountered in debian powerpc, because
osx ppc tenfourfox(firefox port to ppc osx), x86 and amd64 debian versions all
have no such a problem.
I've tried the clean firefox session without any extensions and sync enabled.
The problem is still there.

Bug#767969: linux-image-3.16-3-powerpc64: nouveau gpu driver is not including patches for non-4K pages

2014-11-03 Thread Vladimir Berezenko
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.16.5-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

The latest testing 3.16.5 kernel is built with 64K pages:
***
$ cat /lib/modules/3.16-3-powerpc64/build/.config | grep 4K
CONFIG_PPC_HAS_HASH_64K=y
# CONFIG_PPC_4K_PAGES is not set
CONFIG_PPC_64K_PAGES=y
# CONFIG_SQUASHFS_4K_DEVBLK_SIZE is not set
**
The problem is that nouveau driver in kernel is unable to run with non-4K pages
(it's assuming 4k pages somehow).
There's a fix in nouveau ml for that, but it is not included in kernel. This is
causing gpu to stuck and switch to fb and screen in X become a bunch of squares
with parts of image within them, like in puzzle.

BTW, I can't build kernel ending with error: ld.bfd.real error: -T emulation
mode is not supported (writing by mem, so I might be wrong in exact string).
built with dpkg-buildpackage -j5 -a ppc64.

Bug#748398: 3.16.5-1 not fixed the problem

2014-10-27 Thread Vladimir Berezenko
I've installed the newest testing on powerbook g4 5,6. After upgrade to 3.16-3
the string (II) [KMS] drm report modesetting isn't supported stayed in
Xorg.0.log.

After video=radeonfb:off kernel config string kms seems start working, but
hangs everythin after a short time of use.

Bug#761040: [libqtwebkit4] Browsers based on Webkit crash on loading pages

2014-10-05 Thread Vladimir Berezenko
On 5 october 2014 10:36:56 Lisandro Damián Nicanor Pérez Meyer wrote:

ppc users says it crashes upon certain time (which seems to be not much).
What I need is a proper backtrace generated with the patched qtwebkit.

It crashes always on any page I'm trying to open. Also it crash kde-
telepathy's ktp-text-ui upon opening any chat. Dunno if it is related to my
ru_RU:UTF-8 locale.

Bug#756583: Same on PowerMac G5 Quad

2014-10-04 Thread Vladimir Berezenko
Dear maintainer!

Almost same thing occured on PowerMac G5 Debian Jessie on 3.16.2 kernel with
:0a:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation NV43 [GeForce 6600]
(rev a2)
With disabled acceleration I get
kernel: [ 33.155692] nouveau E[ DRM] GPU lockup - switching to software
fbcon

With enabled acceleration just garbaged screen and no any reaction on
anything. On 3.14.2 kernel just acceleration not working. I've reported that
bug already. #744387 and #728839.
Nothing changed yet.

In Ubuntu, I noticed that sphinx autopkgtest consistently fails on ppc64el.

The autopkgtest calls debian/jstest/run-tests Python script, which creates
(via introspection) a web view, loads a page (which executes some
javascript), and performs some checks on the resulting HTML code. The same
script is called when building Sphinx package (which is probably the
easiest way to reproduce this crash).

Bug#728839: libdrm-nouveau2: Mouse pointer become garbage, then panic in kernel and freeze

2014-01-12 Thread Vladimir Berezenko
Hi all!

Bug with kernel panic is yet present even in 3.12 kernel.
Making AIGLX off anfd cursor software, not hardware makes panic not to occure
much longer. The system became almost useable.
Switching to console and back causes X to restart somehow. No any messages in
Xorg.log about that.
Scrolling something with smooth scroll enabled (e.x. in Konqueror) causes hang
very fast.

Dear Maintainer,
Almost same here on PowerMac G5 quad with NVIDIA Corporation NV43 [GeForce

Seems that there's also bug in kernel drm because nouveau causes kernel panicks
sometimes. First cursor became garbage and than panick.

Bug#713943: X,org is going to garbage and freezing

2013-09-23 Thread Vladimir Berezenko
I think that it has. The 3.2 kernel is not causing this garbage to come and
didnt panick. All other env is completely the same. The latest update didn't
fix the problem. I've just rebooted back to 3.2 because of a cursor garbage.

Bug#713943: linux-image-3.9-1-powerpc64: windfarm module is not working any more

2013-08-30 Thread Vladimir Berezenko
Seems that there's another one problem.
From time to time cursor in X become garbage and after some time kernel goes
panicking.
Last update seems not causing panick, but cursor garbage stayed.
The 3.2 kernel works OK with all the same libs/env so it's a kernel 3.10 bug.

Bug#719956: kde-full: enabling opengl acceleration in kwin leads to a garbage on-screen using nouveau on powerpc64

2013-08-17 Thread Vladimir Berezenko
Package: kde-full
Version: 5:77+deb7u1
Severity: important

Hi there!

When enabling opengl acceleration in KDE desktop effects settings the screen
became filled with garbage. Sometimes kwin just segfaults after that.
I'm using nouveau driver on powerpc g5 quad powermac.

Bug#713943: linux-image-3.9-1-powerpc64: windfarm module is not working any more

2013-06-23 Thread Vladimir Berezenko
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.9.6-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

After upgrading from 3.2 to 3.9 windfarm modules break to work. The cooler
speeds are not regulated so after some time their speed is set up to maximum by
hw.
All files from /sys/devices/platform/windfarm.0/ shows 0 RPM. The only file
that shows anything is slots-power and reading from it slows down the fans for
several seconds. Then they are forced to max speed again.

Bug#699046: psi-plus-plugin-psimedia: psi-plus segfaults while psi-plus-plugin-media installed

Hmm, very interesting. Do you use 32-bit powerpc system with 64-bit kernel?

This is normal for debian powerpc for G5 cpus

  Package: psi-plus-plugin-psimedia
  Version: 1.0.3-git20120506-fb54b6e-1
There is no such package for ppc64 architecture:
 http://buildd.debian-ports.org/status/package.php?p=psimedia

I don't think that I'm using psi-plus for ppc64. I've installed it just using
apt-get install. And I'm not using debian-ports.

So I suppose you have installed package from powerpc architecture:
 https://buildd.debian.org/status/logs.php?pkg=psimediaver=1.0.3-git2012050
 6-fb54b6e-1arch=powerpc

Definitely yes. The only thing I have 64bit is libc-ppc64(in addition to libc-
powerpc) and the kernel. AFAIK there's no 32bit kernel for G5 CPUs.

  [21:55:06] W:Attempted to load
/usr/lib/psi-plus/plugins/libgstprovider.so, but it is not a valid
  plugin.
[21:55:06] W:File is a plugin but not for Psi
Not a valid plugin? Such problem could be if you use 64-bit program and try
to load 32-bit plugin. Is it your case?

Definitely not.

As I see such situation is possible, because psi-plus is available on
 ppc64:
 http://buildd.debian-ports.org/status/logs.php?pkg=psi-plusver=0.15.5338-
 1arch=ppc64
I'm not using debian-ports.

Bug#699049: libfarstream-0.1-0: seems farstream not detecting audiocodecs

Seems that not helped. After regeneration of codecs.audio.powerpc.cache

Farstream and Gst experts: any ideas?

Vladimir, if you run gst-inspect-0.10 speexenc, gst-inspect-0.10
rtpspeexpay on your powerpc, what do you get? Any warning messages? (If
everything is working, you should get some details of the plugins,
 resembling http://paste.debian.net/229996/.)

There were one about opencv, but I think it is not worth to mention.

If you run a Farstream application from a gnome-terminal or something,
do you get any warnings from that?

No messages at all.

Does ~/.gstreamer-0.10/registry.*.bin list details of elements like
speexenc and rtpspeexpay in its binary data? If you remove both
 codecs.audio.powerpc.cache and ~/.gstreamer-0.10/registry.*.bin,
then re-run a Farstream application, does that help?

And that step finally helped. Removing all gstreamer and farsight caches and
regenerating them totally fixed the problem.

Bug#696452: pidgin: No codecs for media type audio detected

2012-12-20 Thread Vladimir Berezenko
Package: pidgin
Version: 2.10.6-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
when I try to place an audio call I'm getting error: No codecs for media type

error.
Seems that only powerpc is affected, because on the same amd64 installation
everything works ok. I've missed the point when the problem started to show,
but some time ago everything worked ok.
