Bug#749567: gkrellm: Crashes with 'BadRRCrtc (invalid Crtc parameter)' X Window System error

2014-05-28 Thread Wolfgang Denk
Package: gkrellm
Version: 2.3.5-6
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Just trying to run gkrellm ...

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

This is a headless system (serial console only) so I log in using
ssh -Y Then I try to run gkrellm.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

I always (100% reproducable) get this error message:

The program 'gkrellm' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadRRCrtc (invalid Crtc parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 49 error_code 146 request_code 139 minor_code 20)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error()
function.)

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

I'd expect that a window with a display of the statistcs data opens.

Bug#668486: Subject: xbmc-bin: dependency to libhal1 and libhal-storage1 necessary?

2012-04-12 Thread denk
Package: xbmc-bin
Version: 2:11.0~git20120403.ec33f1f+repack1-5
Severity: normal

Hi,

first of all thanks for your effort in packaging XBMC for Debian!

But is the dependency to libhal1 and libhal-storage1 really necessary? As of
Debian and most other distris are deprecating HAL and switching to
udisks/upower could you check if there are issues when XBMC is built without
HAL?

Thanks and with kind regards

can only tell the german error the plasmoid shows after startup:

Bug#630558: kile: some icons are missing and code completion doesn't work

2011-06-15 Thread denk
Package: kile
Version: 1:2.1.0-1
Severity: important
Tags: sid

Hi,

in kile some icons are missing, instead a white icon with a question mark is
displayed. This applies to some of the action icons and to the application icon
of kile. If I open those png files in /usr/share/kde4/apps/kile/icons/... all
of them open and display fine.

The code completion doesn't work, too! That's really annoying.

If you need further information, please ask.

Regards

Bug#595130: new release k3b 2.0.2 doesn't need Hal anymore

2011-01-25 Thread denk

Hi,

as of the changelog it is possible to compile k3b without HAL-support
so the dependency should be avoidable:

Added K3B_ENABLE_HAL_SUPPORT option to the build configuration. It

allows to disable any direct calls to HAL (253388)

The Bugreport https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=253388 has more
information about this.

Could you please look into this and eventually upload 2.0.2 to
experimental?

Bug#581785: Further investigation

2010-11-28 Thread denk

I looked into it again and found out the following:

in /usr/share/hplip/ui4/systemtray.py I added after line 655:

log.debug(icon)

then I started hp-systray -g in debug mode and the relevant output is
the following:

hp-systray(qt4)[5380]: debug:
file:///usr/share/hplip/data/images/32x32/error.png

this line occurs because of my additional line in systemtray.py and
shows that

the path to the icon for the notification is correct.

As I don't know how the notification system works exactly could you
please
look into it again to find out why the icon is not shown although the
correct path to the icon

seems to be delivered to the notification system!?

2010-11-15 Thread denk
I've build the latest revison of gnome-keyring out of the svn
repository and it seems that the problem has gone.

Login keyring is unlocked automatically again.

The cause seems to be the timeout of 10 seconds which has been changed

Bug#519476: synaptic: Bug still exists in 0.70pre2 + found cause

2010-11-13 Thread denk
Package: synaptic
Version: 0.70~pre2
Severity: normal

This little annoying bug still exists in 0.70pre2.

Result of a short analysis:
On every close of synaptic the parameter vpanedPos in ~/.synaptic/synaptic.conf
is added by 2!

Example:
1. start synaptic
2. open ~/.synaptic/synaptic.conf
3. vpanedPos has the value 635
4. close synaptic
5. open ~/.synaptic/synaptic.conf
6. vpanedPos has the value 637

Hopefully you can find out which code part does that incrementation!?

Bug#603387: libpam-gnome-keyring: login keyring isn't unlocked anymore on login

2010-11-13 Thread denk

I'm using kdm as I'm using KDE.

In /etc/pam.d/ I touched common-pamkeyring containing

auth optional pam_gnome_keyring.so
session optional pam_gnome_keyring.so auto_start

and in /etc/pam.d/kdm I appended

@include common-pamkeyring

That solution worked until now. Concerning the start of the keyring
daemon I thought the parameter auto_start is enough!?
Do I have to start the keyring daemon now manually? If so, how should I
do that at best?

Yes it is, but you have to start the keyring daemon after that. If you
are using GNOME or Xfce, this is done automatically.

Which session manager are you using?

But until 2.30.3-1 I didn't had to do that via kde autostart or via
session,

keyring daemon has been started by the line

session optional pam_gnome_keyring.so auto_start

and login keyring has always been unlocked automatically.
This is the purpose of the parameter auto_start [1].

Something must have been changed in 2.30.3-2 which renders the until
now working solution useless.

I don’t know how you configure this in KDE; gnome-keyring should appear
as a program you can startup with the session, but disabled by default.
You just have to enable it.

Is there any progress on this? It's a small bug, I know, but it's
annoying!

Could you tell me your conjectures, please!? Eventually I can try to
help with further information.

An idea of mine: as of with network-manager-gnome the notifications in
kde have the proper icons, you could ask them how they achieve that.
Could it be because of hplip doesn't install its icons into
/usr/share/icons/hicolor which is the default place, I think? Correct
me, if I'm wrong.

Bug#581787: filezilla dies, if I want to create a new tab

2010-07-06 Thread denk

Hi,

I've had some spare time yesterday and built the 3.3.3 version of
filezilla myself. Within this version the problem disappears and I can
open new tabs without crash!
I'll wait until the official upload of filezilla 3.3.3 to unstable and
after that (if it works) I'll inform you.

Thanks.

Bug#567460: Problem still persists!

2010-07-05 Thread denk
Could you please look into it again, I've done some further tests with
a regular debian kernel and the problem still persists!

As you can see here:

r...@dk:/usr/lib/dkms# ./dkms_autoinstaller start
dkms: running auto installation service for kernel :
 vboxnetadp (3.2.6)...done.
 vboxnetflt (3.2.6)...done.
 vboxdrv (3.2.6)...done.

The modules are rebuilt in non-alphabetical order with regular debian
kernel, too:

r...@dk:/usr/lib/dkms# uname -r
2.6.34-1-686

Although the output says 'done' for every module, this occurs as of the
modules are already built. If I append '| sort' before the closing
bracket in lines 74 and 82 of the dkms_autoinstaller script in
/usr/lib/dkms the modules are built in correct alphabetical order, with
debian kernel as well as sidux kernel.
Thanks in advance.

2010-05-15 Thread denk
Package: hplip

Severity: normal

Hello,

every action/information of hplip, for example Print job started or No
paper, is shown by the KDE notification system. The icons in those messages
are missing though. Instead of them a question mark is displayed.

I don't know, if Debian can solve this or upstream is responsible for that. If
you need further information, please ask.

Thanks in advance.

Bug#567460: dkms: automatic module-build of the VirtualBox-Modules after kernel-update fails

2010-03-13 Thread denk

 Hello,

I investigated my problem further and I found out that the order in which the
modules are built comes from the command 'find' which is invoked by the
dkms_autoinstaller script. By appending the command '| sort' I could achieve
that the modules are built in alphabetical order which solves my problem.
But it is only a workaround.

I don't think that the fact that I'm using a sidux kernel image influences the
sort order of find in any way. Is there any way how somebody can control the
build order to respect module dependencies?

Thanks in advance.

 Hello,

as there is no response from you by now, I would like to ask, if I can do
something to help you in investigating my problem?

Bug#563642: xserver-xorg-video-intel: wrong dpi with kernel mode setting enabled

2010-02-06 Thread denk

Seems that upstream has a solution for that problem:
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23705#c17

Could that commit be included in the next update?

Bug#567460: [Pkg-dkms-maint] Bug#567460: dkms: automatic module-build of the VirtualBox-Modules after kernel-update fails

2010-02-06 Thread denk
According to the upstream bug I filed, the error seems to occur because of the
order the modules are built.

How can the order of compiling modules can be set? Could you look into it to
support upstream!?

Thanks!
