I just uploaded that change to Debian.

Unfortunately, that pull request has been declined upstream. Can we have a
simpler fix in the mean time?

Thanks for this upstream pull request!

Can you upload a temporary fix in Debian until the next upstream version
gets released?

If you don't want to handle it, I'm happy to propose a non-maintainer upload
with just the import fix in the mean time.

Bug#1018288: waagent: Debian specific patch breaks kali support

2022-08-28 Thread Raphaël Hertzog
Package: waagent
Version: 2.7.3.0-1
Severity: important
User: de...@kali.org
Usertags: origin-kali

Hello,

this patch broke kali support:
https://salsa.debian.org/cloud-team/waagent/-/commit/dd8f1771d89bd255f96938f080b02b889da79ad7

The import of "DebianOSBaseUtil" has been dropped while it's clearly used
further down the road:

if distro_name == "kali":
return DebianOSBaseUtil()

Please re-add the import statement. There's a merge request lying around
since one year:
https://salsa.debian.org/cloud-team/waagent/-/merge_requests/3

But that merge request restores it in the wrong order so that would still
keep a diff compared to upstream. I have ask the MR submitter to update
it.

Cheers,
