My plan is to wait until 1.8.2 is officially released.

What I see on geomview.org right is a release candidate
and the accompanying Notes file indicates rapid, unstable development,
which doesn't lend itself to inclusion in Debian.

Thank you for alerting me to geomview's recent release.  Please send a note
to this bug again once 1.8.2 is officially out.
