Bug#502905: Not fixed

2008-10-22 Thread Patrick Wiseman
If the latest docvert, which installed with testing updates this morning,
was supposed to have fixed the problem, it didn't. I had exactly the same
problem this morning, with the boot process hanging interminably. I had to
reboot into single-user mode and move the S20docvert-* processes to
K80docvert-*, and booting then proceeded normally.

Can you check the exact version of the package you have on your system?

  dpkg -l docvert*

Also, can you attach these files to your response:
   /etc/init.d/docvert-*

Cheers,

Francois

This is the old package, try apt-get remove --purge docvert-openoffice

I noticed that you have a /etc/init.d/docvert-openoffice initscript on your
system. Does it go away after you purge the docvert-openoffice package?

That's an old broken initscript so if you remove it from your system, you
should be able to boot without problems.

Let me know how that goes though, I want to make sure that it's fixed in
Lenny.

Cheers,
Francois

That returns

I went ahead and rebooted - there was a very slight hesitation where it had
been hanging before and then the boot process continued successfully.

Thanks!
Patrick

It told me nothing was removed because docvert-openoffice is not
installed! (I suspect that my moving the rc2.d link from S20.. to K80..
 might have confused matters.)

With the earlier version 'diff docvert-converter docvert-openoffice'
returned no differences; this time it returned significant differences. So,
I've removed all references to docvert-openoffice, and moved
K80docvert-converter back to S20 I can't reboot right this minute, as
I'm in the middle of something, but I'll do it later this evening and let
you know; I'm fairly confident that all will be well!

 Thanks again
