Any progress with that? We now have Amarok 2.4 and still libgtk is
hard dependency.
I checked dependency of Amarok in Kubuntu and I don't see any libgtk -
http://packages.ubuntu.com/natty/amarok
Maybe is time and drop dependency for libgtk (or put in recommends)
for Amarok in Debian.

If I remember correctly, Amarok needs libgtk because of libgpod4.
Since there is a libgpod4-nogtk package, why does Amarok still require
libgtk ? People should just be able to choose their version of libgpod4.

So my question is the following : what will happen with Amarok if if try to
deal with Ipod covers and that the gtk library isn't installed ? If we just

so I don't really care
about that functionnality and I'm trying to get rid of libgtk (only use
by one software on my system : Amarok). I guess that I'm not alone, so
giving the user some choice would be really great.

libgtk is a library and I bet you would still have another bunch of
useless libraries installed even if amarok dropped GTK dep. However,
it's true that libgtk AND its dependencies are rather huge and might seem
suboptimal for such a thing as iPod covers (esp. if you don't the
