Bug#561669: gecko-mediaplayer: Crashes when opening mediapalyer file, then dissapears from plugin list
Cesare Tirabassi schreef: Yet, I also found that it crashes only my profile when I copied the pluginreg.dat from a new profile to my working profile, or after I created a new profile and installed moonlight 2.0 and the Zotero plugin. I shall try to find out which one is to blame. I truly believe this is a problem with your system, possibly related to some of the plugins you use (and manually copying files around is really a way to ask for troubles). I'm asking anyhow to upstream just to be sure. I found that the crash occurs as soon as I have installed the Moolight 2.0 plugin. I will redirect the bug report there, thanks for your help! Bug#561669: gecko-mediaplayer: Crashes when opening mediapalyer file, then dissapears from plugin list
Package: gecko-mediaplayer Version: 0.9.8-1 Severity: important Hi Maintainer, When I have a fresh profile for iceweasel, I do see the gecko-mediaplayer pluins in about:plugins. When I then go to a web page with a mediaplayer stream (an asf at eg. www.uitzeninggemist.nl) firefox crashes. When I restart iceweasel, all of the gecko listings have dissapeared. The only fix is creating a new profile, which then crashes again when visiting a web site with a mediaplayer stream. My browser version is: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; nl; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091123 Iceweasel/3.5.5 (like Firefox/3.5.5; Debian-3.5.5-1) Thanks for your time! Cheers! Bug#561669: gecko-mediaplayer: Crashes when opening mediapalyer file, then dissapears from plugin list
When I then go to a webpage with a mediaplayer stream (an asf at eg. www.uitzeninggemist.nl) firefox crashes. I guess you mean http://www.uitzendinggemist.nl/ ? Can you give me a link to a stream that causes you to crash? I tried a few on that page and none of them caused a crash. When I restart iceweasel, all of the gecko listings have dissapeared. What do you mean!? The only fix is creating a new profile, which then crashes again when visiting a web site with a mediaplayer stream. OK, so you mean that your ~/.mozilla/* get corrupted? Well, this would seem a mozilla problem to me (or possibly a problem with your system, perhaps file system related). If you give me a way to reproduce your crash I can see if we can do something about that, but for the corruption I'm afraid there isn't much I (or upstream) can do. I found that for example this link causes my browser to crash: http://player.omroep.nl/?aflID=10430468 Yet, I also found that it crashes only my profile when I copied the pluginreg.dat from a new profile to my working profile, or after I created a new profile and installed moonlight 2.0 and the Zotero plugin. I shall try to find out which one is to blame. When I restart iceweasel, all of the gecko listings have dissapeared. What do you mean!? Well, that the plugin list got considerably shorter, and the windows mediaplayer plugin, the quicktime plugin etc. are no longer offered. Thus, after the crash, the gecko plugins are no longer available. The only fix is creating a new profile, which then crashes again when visiting a web site with a mediaplayer stream. OK, so you mean that your ~/.mozilla/* get corrupted? Well, this would seem a mozilla problem to me (or possibly a problem with your system, perhaps file system related). Is there a way to get some debugging info that might help? Sjoerd signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Yes, sorry for the typo. I found that for example this link causes my browser to crash: http://player.omroep.nl/?aflID=10430468 That's indeed one of those I already tried: it doesn't crash for me. If you enable verbose debug in gnome-mplayer (right click on player - Preferences - Interface - Verbose Debug Enabled) perhaps you will see the reason for the crash (either on tty1 or ~/.xsession-error if you are on Gnome). Yet, I also found that it crashes only my profile when I copied the pluginreg.dat from a new profile to my working profile, or after I created a new profile and installed moonlight 2.0 and the Zotero plugin. I shall try to find out which one is to blame. I'm asking anyhow to upstream just to be sure. I understand. Is there a way to get some debugging info that might help? I really wouldn't know how to help with that. I can only suggest to search into forums/help sites for corruption problems related to mozilla crashes and eventually raise an iceweasel bug in Debian.
