Hi,
I upgraded VirtualBox to version 5.1.4 and noticed two things. First, each
virtual machine creates two icons on the taskbar again (a LXDE user here) and
second, the problem disappeared. So, in this version VirtualBox's behaviour
reverted to that of version 5.0.20 . Everything works fine
