I'm seeing this error during reinstallation of a host using LVM. It seems that the LVM output defaults to using 'human-readable' as unit size, which according to the man page of pvs may use '<' as rounding indicator. Setting LVM to use a fixed unit for formatting, seems to fix the problem:
