I found out the reason for this bug: If metacity is set to
mouse-controlled focus (GConf key /apps/metacity/general/focus_mode),
any context menus in OpenOffice are closed immediately (or moved behind
the main window, I have no way to check that). Everything works fine in
both click-controlled
esign case, but I'm open for
suggestions.
